Not your typical pub food. My friend and I had a late lunch yesterday and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. And also the Expresso Martini! We had a crispy goat cheese salad with lots of stuff in it and the creamy Parmesan risotto and shrimp, which was super delish! The service was excellent. Our waitress was highly attentive. The District had my attention when it first opened 12 years ago. I've put off my review because I thought I would return. I have been pleased that they survived all these years. It appears if you're a fan it's all or nothing compared to the one star reviews! I'm sorry I missed a Yelp UYE years ago. I wanted to meet the other Yelpers but I'm just not a fan of this atmosphere. Came here on a random weekday for dinner. Ordered the Creamy Parmesan Risotto Shrimp ($28), which tasted really good. Just make sure to let it cool down a bit or you'll burn your tongue like I did. The District was a bottom five dining experience for me. Tacking on a star for our server, Liam, who seemed to be the only person working on a sunday afternoon. The outdoor seating at The District is far too cramped. There was one table for 6 and it was so shaky it was unusable, so we crammed 5 around a four top. i had to literally climb over chairs to get to my seat, positioned directly against a door to the interior. I sat for so long before a busser even brought water that I ended up ordering at the bar. I got a pretty okay egg sandwich. I don't eat bacon and wanted to sub it out, but I had already been waiting so long that I didn't even bother trying. The chicken salad was a cut up chicken tender on limp lettuce, they forgot a second egg sandwich, and both burgers (ordered medium and medium-rare) came out raw, so we all ate in waves. Other staff would walk by us and somehow not hear 5 people saying "excuse me?" 2 feet from us. Liam, again, did solve every problem while also dealing with an entire restaurant solo. Probably should give him a raise -- other than him, this experience was almost shockingly bad. Would not return and would not recommend. read more

Went there on Valentine's Day. Surprisingly it was only half filled at 7:30pm. (Might be due to three day weekend). Got seated immediately. We ordered right away. Just main entree no appetizers or sides. Kitchen service was horrible. Took over an hour for the food to come out and it was room temperature. The rib eye was medium well which I ordered medium rare. The flavor was just average. My wife enjoyed her salmon and lobster ravioli. Flavors were good but the ravioli was just a frozen ravioli and the salmon was also room temperature. We got there at 9:45 pm Friday night and were immediately told that we had to order immediately because the kitchen closes at 10. We ordered chili, chicken pesto sandwich, and the NY strip steak medium rare. After waiting 30 mins they brought us nachos, not chili. We told them of the mistake and about 15 mins later we got the chili which was pretty good. 15 mins after that we got the sandwich which was fine, and the steak which was medium well instead of medium rare. I stumbled upon this bar while on the upper Eastside. I just missed happy hour but the drinks were still very fairly priced. I was able to get a seat and watch the Knicks play. I ordered Manhattan clam chowder which was a special for that night. It was OK. My cocktail was delicious! The wings were good with the sauce on side. Price point was good and that needs to be acknowledged as sometimes New York's drink prices can be outrageous. Staff was friendly and accommodating. What seemed like "regulars" filled the bar pretty quickly within our stay, rest of the place was pretty empty which was totally ok with us. Ordered a beer, 2 orders of wings and fries. Food arrived in good time. I requested all flats but unfortunately it came out mixed so had to wait a bit longer. The sweet potato fries were tasty. The wings were a bit over sauced but cooked decently. 6 wings for $16 is expensive in my opinion. They promoted all day happy hour deals on the wall and I know they have Tuesday Martini deals... but wish there weekday food deals. Not much of an atmosphere during that time but know it can fill out in the evening. The waitress was kind to let us drag feet in terms of settling out ck (I was waiting for school pick up time) so we appreciated her nonchalance about that and tipped a little extra. First off, we are not experts of Irish food so my review is purely based on one trip to Ireland and experiences in NYC pubs. So the Irish breakfast is authentic with the black and white pudding, grilled tomatoes, and fries. Very tasty and hearty. Cuban sandwich might not be the most authentic but the ham and bacon show they care...coffee is fine. The highlight is the sweet potato fries - crispy and even a little burnt, but I just couldn't stopping eating them! Service overall was good. We got welcomed in with a big smile and got our order within a reasonable waiting time for a Sunday brunch. However, they didn't come back and check in with us later. The District is my favorite spot for a casual meal in the neighborhood! It's kid friendly. Everything I've tried on the menu has been great. This place is definitely a neighborhood go to. This is a cozy and homey bar with good service. It's the kind of place you would want to sit at on a cold winter day and watch the snow falling. I personally do not like their food but my boyfriend really enjoyed their French onion soup. They have a great selection of beers on draft, bottles, wine and cocktails. With Covid as it is however, even though NY has opened up for having indoor dining, I didn't want to on that day, so we ordered in. I ordered an apple-pecan salad. I personally didn't enjoy the bites of crumbled blue cheese so i took out. If you like blue cheese, you will really enjoy this salad. The District Burger was the same. Good, though that was my families order. And the wings were ordered Buffalo, but they sent the sauce for covering. I guess that make sense. We also ordered a cheese cake to share. It was awful. Stale, old. I called to inform them and they refunded me the money for the cost of it. She was very pleasant when calling and apologized several times. Would I eat at The District again? Came back here for the first time since they reopened for indoor dining. It was honestly pretty weird. My friend and I always sit at the bar and sat at a table for the first time ever. We ordered calamari and the hummus and pita platter which were both decent. I got a gin and tonic and my friend got gin and soda (gross) and they weren't strong at all. Luckily, our girl Lauren was there and blessed us. She is the main reason we go there. She's awesome. The place is located in a great spots specially when the weather is nice, they had a big selection of beer although their names should be included in the drink menu. The wings were a solid 6/10 a bit dry and overdone , the sweet potato fries were nice a crispy just needed a little more seasoning . The calamari was great 7/10 and the fish and chips 9/10. The. I have been to this place before but never reviewed it, it's one of the rare cases where a restaurant gets better on your second visit. The place is as well located and nicely decorated as before but now the service has improved markedly (even though everything from hosting to taking orders seem to be made only by one gentleman with black hair who always have a smile) and the food now really is memorable, which wasn't the case on my last visit,by all means try the salmon. I returned three days later and the host/waiter not only remembered me but also was as attentive as the previous time, this time I had the NY steak that while not being medium cooked as I ordered was perfectly seasoned. Went to The District last weekend with my boyfriend and another couple for dinner & drinks. It was my first time here and I will say with absolute certainty, we will definitely be back. My first impression of the establishment was that not only was it tastefully decorated, it was immaculately clean as well. We ordered the mozzarella sticks and The District burgers and were blown away by how delicious the food was. Everything was fresh and the burgers were made to order. Its a nice looking place with high ceilings and antique lighting. I ordered carry out from Grubhub and had a burger which was cooked really well, the bacon was crispy, and I appreciated that there was also a decent amount of pickles which I love on a burger.
