The food is ok, but the waitress ruined it. Let me tell my story. We have 8 people, including 2 kids. The waitress is Ana Maria. She starts off impatient and very rude to us. I think we did nothing wrong. We are professionals, polite, we are 4 professors working for the university in different field, well, one in food safety. We are with kids and the kids behave extremely well, making no noise. But one thing is, yes, we are Asian. Ana Maria rolls her eyes so many times. I feel extremely bad to be treated the most racist way in my life. The kids get water without a cap. We never get refills for water for the entire dinner. She refuses to separate the bills for us at the end, or is it a restaurant wide policy? Yes, we spend ~500 dollars on the food. And it is mandatory to pay close to 100 dollars for a tip, and I understand it because we are party of 8. And We are excited to try everything. We understand it might be a busy day for restaurant, even though we did not get food for a long time but we did not complain at all. But by the end of the day, she says we need space and a table for the others, so they kick us out right after paying the bill. We move out, but no one is using our table. We feel being treated very rudely, so we report to the manager. She is very nice and apologizes to us and waives some fees equal to the tips. But the waitress never shows up or apologizes. I understand she might have a tough day, but this is very unprofessional to do this or highly suspicious to be racist. I want to say, we are professionals, and this won't be the end of the story. We will do everything to make sure the restaurant pays the price, and we have the ability to do it. Update: I reduced one more star for the manager's reply. The service was clearly rude. The manager said they support their team and offered an excuse. This was clearly not an apology. If the waitress was just rushed or needed the work done earlier, we would understand, but the way they treated people was beyond rude. We could see how differently she treated us compared to others. Let's add more details: we were a party of 8. They put us in the middle of the hallway. She kept complaining that we were in her way (it was not our fault!!!!!) She explained the oysters were 12 for a dozen (reminder, she did not mean the price; it was 48 dollars), but she made it confusing or assumed we did not understand what a dozen means. Btw, the CDC is warning about the oyster salmonella outbreak in 22 states, including FL. Unfortunately, I have been having diarrhea for the past two days. A hidden gem on historic Stock Island. From the ambience, to the service, to the hand crafted seafood dishes.. they just don't miss! Steve, Kasia, & Jenn took such great care of our party of 5. Matt (one of the owners) was very present and active on the restaurant floor throughout our two hour stay. We started with 2 dozen of their freshest oysters served with a wonderful house-made mignonette. Delicious. Their ceviche is award winning (literally). The fish of the day was Wahoo which was fantastic, equally fantastic were the crisp vegetables paired with it. The perfect amount of crunch, spice, and citrus. By far the best in the Keys. For dinner I had the Blackened, Pan-Seared Grouper topped with a Lime Fresco sauce and it was a very nice portion for the price. Our friends raved about the Seafood Scampi and the Skirt Steak as well. We opted for two desserts, the cheesecake of the week and bread pudding- a wonderful finish to an amazing meal. First time here, so we had to try a bunch of things - nearly everything was a big win. The ambiance was pretty awesome, as you sat right next to the water, even if you are sitting inside or at the longest bar rail I've ever seen. The service was on point - never waited for anything and didn't have to flag anyone down. Super friendly and courteous. The food was pretty fantastic other than the scallop ceviche - it was a texture thing so I am not blaming how it was prepared. As stated, we had the scallop ceviche, the seafood cheese sticks, a pound of peel-and-eat shrimp, the seafood chowder, as well as the fish and chips. Yes, I know it's a lot but we nearly finished it all. Everything was so well prepared and so flavorful. We will certainly come back here again - no good reason not to. Hesitant to order non-seafood at a seafood place but the burger was well-seasoned! The swordfish was delicious. The pickle brine was a little too sweet for my taste, but overall it was a good dish. It's a dockside eatery with mostly a sandwich menu and pretentious prices. The 65$ seafood platter is a slap in the face with 10 tiny shellfish, a cpl of shrimp and a cpl of oz of ceviche . The fish and chips are 32$ and have 2 pieces of fish with a mountain of fries ( fries are best thing there ) , there are also random people walking through the outside dining area with their fishing poles like that's part of the atmosphere. I've been eating in Fl fish houses for decades and this place disappoints. Especially since it has an over 4 star rating on here. I left unsatisfied, still hungry , and with a fair sized hole in my wallet. Not sure who's rating this place 4 plus stars, but there's ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO SEE HERE. I could see they were busy, however, when our server finally came by with waters, she took our appetizer order, then ignored us for about 35 minutes. We saw her racing around, but she avoided eye contact every time. We were finally able to get another server to take our order. At the end of the meal, the server who took our order, asked about our experience. When I told him, he asked if I would speak to the manager and brought me over to Jen. When I shared our experience, she acted like she could care less and said an obligatory, "I'm sorry to hear that, but I hope you come back and give us another try". So there you go... We got the fig appetizer, wedge salad, baked oysters, tuna pizza, and key west shrimp. All so fresh and the flavors were unreal. I stoped in with my group of 4 on our way back to our airbnb. The website says it's perfect for sunsets. LIE. The boat yard blocks it all. Please try not to let the neighborhood scare you as you arrive - it's a bit rough. However, this place is a hidden gem with excellent food, a chill vibe, and authentic seafood menus. The manager walked away saying "I don't really care" and told the waitress "don't worry you're fine" Service is rude and dismissive of patrons. Management set the tone for the bag attitude. What an amazing little diamond in the rough. They are tucked way back by a fish market, right off of the docks where the fish comes in if you're not looking, you will miss it. I would highly suggest that you look because this was a great little place to visit. The food was great and the service, very pleasant and they share we had all of our drinks for all the time. I had a little Office meeting here and everyone walked away, completely satisfied, full of great food and an amazing view of the harbor. Parking can be really tight. Hello fellow yelpers, So we came in here based upon your reviews. Looking forward to it. I ordered my favorite mount Gay rum and Coke with no lime. Ed was bringing around the bar and I saw a lime in it and he fished it out and threw it away. And then he served my drink. Very disappointing. I normally don't do this but I refuse to drink. It was no problem he brought the drink back without the lime. But here's the problem. It was a smaller glass as if it been dumped into a smaller glass without the line. To be honest here I don't know if that's what happened but the drink just did not taste the same because it was contaminated in my mind. Ed made about a statement about the drink being safe for him later but we know that's not true because of it it would be watering down as the ice melted. So as it would go, Ed came by and I told him about the review. He went back if you can believe us and pulled out the drink that was sitting in a mixer for later consumption. So much for suspicious minds. Hey that sounds like a good song title suspicious minds. Wait a minute I'm of that vintage I think it was Elvis Presley that did his song on suspicious minds Anyway we were off and had a very enjoyable eveningEd was perfect the dinner was awesome.
