Waitress Paula was super friendly and welcoming! My other waitress, Tabitha, was very attentive and checked on me often. It was quiet on a Tuesday evening, so service was fast and efficient. The fish tacos were great even though I removed pretty much everything lol the slaw had mayo so I removed that and I had them do no queso and no cream. This was my go to sports bar in the neighborhood, although it always struggled with service, I was able to justify my repeat visits due to its location and reliable food. Unfortunately, things have gone from bad to, well worse than bad. Terrible service, I'm not sure if they train their staff at all and there is no guiding management to speak of. Again this was tolerable but now, on my last visit they have instituted a 20% service charge. Well, you've now lost my business. Pretty solid American bar food just south of downtown. Plenty of parking up front and they have interior and outside seating. The giant pretzel was alright, not worth the $14, but it's alright, 3/5. The nachos are pretty solid and their queso is good, 4/5. The Houston Cowboy burger was pretty solid and the patty is cooked well; a bummer that for $19, the burger doesn't come with a side, 4/5. My experience at On The Kirb was great! It being my first time with my visiting friend who can only eat vegan and, gluten-free meals, which On The Kirb has a great variety to accommodate that need with that being said the taste of the food was amazing and I believe what makes a restaurant's environment welcoming, and comfortable is the service as well as a safe space. The ambiance in this place, definitely did that with the modern sleek style, clean space, and variety of sports screening. What really made our experience a lot more enjoyable was the service our waitress Hailey was great as well as the lovely Manager Paola. I was excited about trying this restaurant for a midday Sunday brunch. They specialize in organic food. Upon entry this restaurant had a unique smell. We almost changed our minds about eating here but we decided to give it a try. I ordered the chicken sandwich with a side of truffle fries and the waitress recommended I try the chicken blackened. Now I loved the truffle fries but the chicken sandwich lacked flavor. Just about everyone in our party thought the food could use much more seasoning. I will say our food came out rather quickly though. I'm not sure if I'll be visiting again but it seems like a good place to visit to watch a sports game. read more

I've been here a few times and have decided it's mediocre. For at least the past 6 months, there's been a distinct sewage smell (I'm not sure if it's actually from sewage, but it smells like it) noticeable upon entry. The food is decent with diverse menu options, but nothing is memorable or best-in-class. All the food is slightly overpriced. For example, 8 tiny wings shouldn't be $16, because if you come hungry they're not going to fill you up if that's your entree. Those wings should be ~$10 because it's truly an appetizer portion. The burgers starting at $16 aren't worth it either - for the same price you could go to Rodeo Goat for a significantly higher quality burger, or save money by still getting a better burger at the Burger Joint. The staff is hit or miss with some being awesome and others being lazy or borderline rude. Why did the female manager seem cranky when I calmly asked her to change a couple of the 15+ TVs to ESPN2? If I'm in the area and desperate to watch a game on TV I might come back, but I'm kind of done with this place. read more

I went to catch up with an old friend for lunch and he decided to go to On the Kirb. My favorite part about a restaurant here in Houston is when I know parking is easy peasy which it was! We made it during their happy hour which was the perfect way to start this outing. I started off with the Hibiscus margarita which was on their seasonal menu. It was so refreshing and delicious. I had been craving nachos for quite a bit so decided on the chicken nachos. The nacho portion was HUGE! I had to double check with my server to make sure it was the single portion. As easy as nachos are to make you would be surprised as to how easy it is to mess up. But not these!! The chips were fresh and tasty. The chicken was tasty, the guac and queso were chefs kisses. This one was very pretty and clean....but no hot water. I mean none. The faucet just spins around on the hot side. Seriously? Next the food....well, not too unusual...waiter asked if I wanted cheese and onions. I said...sure. Well, there were three slivers of onion, but truthfully, no cheese. Two of my sliders were medium well and one was rare. How do you do that.Next we asked about diet coke. Nope, only coke zero. Ehhhh? Really, you are a bar and you can't have some cans of Diet coke? So, we'll have a cocktail...how about a frozen Margarita...NOPE...only on the rocks. A bar and they don't have a blender to make a frozen drink...so..we came, we saw...we won't return. Wes immediately greeted and there is open seating- we were served drinks, water with attentive staff. Ordered the hamburger and meat pizza . We really enjoyed both and shared the entrees. Burger was just as ordered, med-rare and pizza was wood fired in their oven in the back - delicious thin crust with yummy toppings. I usually don't like jalapeños on my pie but these were very mild . Inside definitely has a sports bar feel and the outside is great for those few days we have in H-town that accommodate outdoor dining. I have never really had a bad meal here, but some of my favs are the filet, the chicken wrap, their salads and pretty much anything g on the happy hour menu. I enjoyed a caprese burger here on a busy Friday night. The burger was deliciously cooked medium, with mozz, basil, tomatoes, and more. I also liked the fries, which were dipped in beef tallow (?). The major downside to the burger was that they stealthily snuck in an extra charge for fries - while around $3, it was not astronomical, but the menu had stated that the burger included fries as part of the overall cost. Adding this to a 20% gratuity meant that the burger cost came up to around $26, which is a lot for a burger and fries. Well the price definitely doesn't match the amount of food...order salad with beef to go. I have never seen a -$20 salad so skimpy. On top of that its a to go order so when checking out its a range between 18%-22% tip for a carry out. Thank you for putting my food in a bag with NO utensils or napkins. Also paying/tipping before get your food is sketch. Did I not tip enough to get that 2nd layer of lettuce. Didn't even get asked if I wanted a drink or water while I waited. Salad is pretty good, but definitely not worth the price/size. So maybe there are other price worthy options to try. They had a good selection of whiskeys that I seen.
