If I could give Bark and Purr more than 10 stars I would. The owner Linda is a saint and loves all animals. Let me tell you how I know this. Sunday evening my son was out at Lake Lavon and saw a couple of stray labradoodles eating in the trash. So he brought them home and although we tried, the doodles had been loose in the brush and thickets around the lake for some time and their coats were full of burrs and sticker bushes. It was terrible. We tried to do the best cleaning we could so that at least the female doodle could eat again as the burrs were all around her mouth, but they were still in rough shape. Was planning on taking them to the Allen shelter Monday morning but they wouldn't take them as they were found outside city limits and said contact the county shelter. Unfortunately county shelter is closed on Mondays. I decided to get them a professional groom to clean them up properly but no one would see them on such short notice. A few told me that they could see them in a month even after I explained the situation. :( I called Bark and Purr and although they were closed for renovations, the owner Linda listened to the story about the doodles and told me to bring them immediately and she'll take care of them personally. And she did. Not only did they give them a shampoo and cleaning but also offered to let them stay in their kennels until we found the owners or could place them with the DFW doodle rescue as we have 2 pups and limited space. She then sent out the picture of the doodles to all her accounts and sure enough one of their customers knew the doodles' owners and contacted the owners and they were reunited. In the end not only did Bark and Purr Grooming go above and beyond what other groomers would do but also helped to reunite the doodles with their family just for the love of all animals. I couldn't have done it myself and I truly appreciated how much care Bark and Purr showed to these poor lost doodles. Highly recommend this business in every way I can. We took our new puppy here for the first time and the groomer did a beautiful job giving Lovey a summer cut. We wanted to keep some length on our sweet pup, but make sure she would be cool enough with outside temperatures. Lovey was happy when we picked her up, which tells me she was loved while there. Aside from the excellent grooming job, the staff at Bark and Purr are PHENOMENAL to their customers. I had 2 of my young daughters with me when I picked up our puppy. I took my cat Lucy in for grooming because she is 16 and not taking care of herself as needed. I talked to the owner the night before she told me what I needed and she said it would cost me about 50 dollars. I talked to her the next morning and she ask again what I wanted. She suggested a lions cut and I told her not really. She then told me to tell the girl inside what I wanted that she was on her way there. I told the girl I wanted her belly and behind area shaved and that was all. When I went to pick her up the same girl was there when I walked in she told me Lucy was shaved all over. When I saw Lucy I was very upset. Then she told me the cost is 150 dollars. So I had her call the owner so we could discuss the price. She lowered it to 90 dollars I paid and took Lucy home. I a still angry about this. I went to Petco the next day to buy Lucy a sweater. I was talking the the clerk on duty and told him about what happened. This is my baby, Pebbles. She is almost 19. I RARELY take her to the groomers because I hate the stress it puts on cats. But due to matting, I can only trust a groomer to help. I found this place which has MANY good reviews and when I called, the front desk was so sweet! Upon scheduling for the next day on August 10th at 1:30 pm, I informed them that she is a senior cat while giving all necessary details about new clients. All seemed well & once I met the groomer she seemed great. They called her the "Cat Queen." She even had paintings of her own cats. Then the receptionist called out to the groomer "She's 18!" She was immediately affectionate with Pebbles as she examined her which made me firmly believe that she would be well taken care of. Upon examining Pebbles, she informed us that due to pebbles' old age she would NOT be using shavers. That deshedding and a shampoo would be best and I agreed. I initially wanted a trim and mats cut off because her hair can get really scraggly & matted. It took longer than expected which is understandable, and once 3 hours was approaching we decided to head back and wait. The groomer said it would take an additional 45 minutes because a dog was too noisy nearby. My first thought once I saw pebbles was it seemed nothing was done. The groomer started explaining pebbles had multiple mats stuck on her tummy and while using a SHAVER (which I was confused about because we BOTH agreed a shaver would NOT be used) the shaver was pulling at her very thin skin. She showed me quickly the multiple wounds she sustained while trying to shave her and my heart sank. Once I grabbed her & examined her, I noticed the larger wound on her chest area that really got me. We went back and forth a bit out of confusion because I could not understand how or why this happened. I was shaking. While the groomer went on about a senior cat's thin skin which I am well aware of, she kept expressing how she wanted to "make me happy" and asked if I truly wanted her haircut I would need to be present. I told her REPEATEDLY it was okay because my head was only focused on getting Pebbles out. While holding Pebbles, the groomer was VERY persistent on cutting more of her fur even though I kept saying it was okay. While trying to continue grooming her in my arms, I kept saying it was okay and the groomer accidentally dropped the shaver on pebbles and said "I'm more nervous here than you are." The groomer told the receptionist to only charge a bathe and was still adamant about accepting that she made a mistake on Pebbles. I went straight to an Urgent Care. The vet said this was either done by scissors, or by her fur being ripped from her skin. No, I don't want to believe this could've been done by her bare hands but scissors made me believe that she might've tried her best at first without a shaver but something obviously went very wrong here. Pebbles did not need stitches, thankfully. She needed a skin glue procedure with ointment and antibiotics. The owner messaged me thus making me believe she felt guilty and is aware she made a mistake. I appreciate the response, but it doesn't make me feel any better for my girl. I am aware they've done very well with other babies, but I am extremely saddened the same could not have been done with mine. Whether it was negligence, trying to rush, or confusion I don't know & felt the groomer was trying to blame anything else but her own fault in the moment. I still cannot wrap my head around it. They knew all the details. I take FULL responsibility for entrusting she knew what she was doing. Thank you to the receptionist for being sweet throughout everything. We have been using B&P for over 10 years. Under NEW ownership and management, they have been OUTSTANDING!! Our most recent visit exceeded our expectations. One of our dogs is a challenge in getting his nails clipped and grinded. We were amazed how short and smooth they were when we got him home. His nails have been a weapon to scratch my wife and grandkids. After this visit, it is no longer a concern. B&P is very accommodating to our schedule. So I drove past this place last night, 8/31/24, around 8:00 pm. The business was DEFINITELY closed. So I was surprised when I saw a dog, a white poodle, still in the grooming room on the table TIED TO THE ROPE. Several other people stopped when they saw this as well, and someone called the number on the door. The owner said he would come up, and we stayed until he did. I fully expected him to take the dog to their kennel, as the dog was clearly being boarded, but nope! He just untied the dog, put a water bowl in there, and left it. This business is beyond dangerous. They clearly overbooked themselves and had no place to put the dog, so they just stashed him/her in the grooming room and literally forgot about it. If we had not driven by and seen this, who knows what would have happened. If the dog had jumped down from the table while still tethered to the rope, it would have hung itself. Cut my dog with razor. Took off her eyelashes in process. Brought in two doodle mixes for grooming $227!! Was extremely specific to not use the razor. Took an extra 15 minutes to tell the owners brother at the front the desk how to groom one of my dogs specifically because she does better with shears not a razor cut and she looks better too. Specifically told them this time as well as last time (yes I gave them another chance) cannot use a razor on my Sheepadoodle. I even told them that another one of their customers said that they were great because they promised to use shears on her doodle mix instead of a razor so she highly recommended. Why they cannot do the same for my dog is beyond me. Taking responsibility for your mess up with more than just a verbal "sorry" is yet another. I pick up my dogs and they immediately tell me that while the groomer was using a RAZOR, the dog turned her head (why is it always the dogs fault) and she clipped my dogs eye. Taking off the entire set of eyelashes as well as leaving a cut on her eye. By the way, they were adamant that my dog was not cut, and I only saw that when I got home. Why she was anywhere near my dogs eyes when I specifically told her to leave them alone is also a question they wouldn't answer. They refused to eat the cost and offered me what is the equivalent of MAYBE a $50 credit for a large dog "bath" (not groom) when the grooming itself cost $120 per dog. I have five dogs that I have brought to this place. None of them will return. The owner clearly needs work on his business model and customer service practices. His only promise was to "talk strongly" to the groomer the next day. This is the second time they have used a razor on my dog when I specifically told them not to, and they promised that they wouldn't. If you don't care, how a Groomer treats your dog or what you tell them specifically to do for your dog then this is the place for you. They do with their way at all costs and expect you to pay even though they didn't do it the way you specifically requested. If they knew they weren't gonna do it the way I specifically requested they should've saved everybody a read more

I am very disappointed with this establishment and will not return. I have a child who was recently diagnosed with luekemia and needed the cats cleaned asap in order for him to interact with his kitties. I scheduled an appointment with two cats for early in the morning, drove 30 minutes to give them my business and they were only "able" to clean one. They claimed the other one was too nervous to be cleaned but had the nerve to ask if we wanted to reschedule. If you werent able to handle it today you arent going to be able to handle it another time. As a professional grooming service, the fact that a nine pound cat was too much to handle, despite them being vigorously warmed the cat was timid, is absolutely disappointing. New owners have taken over and really made a big difference in their operation. I went to drop off my dog this morning March 10 at 7:30 AM. The hours of operation on Google show them to be open. The young lady that was at the desk saw me come to the door, but would not look in my direction. I knocked, and she stood up, then, without looking at me, said, we're not open, and walk to the back. I had to knock again in order for her to tell me what time they opened. With employees like this, I cannot trust that they will take care of my dog. My experiences in the past have been pretty good. However, if you hire employees like this young lady, I have to question the way management runs this business. I see on yelp that the hours of operation are different than Google.
