Ok while I'm not a hot pot lover, I'll say Dolar Shop has taken the prize for best hot pot in Seattle area. First, I recommend reservations - otherwise expect a wait. It's popular. Second, consider coming when they have lunch sets or special set meals. It's about $40-50 a person otherwise you're going to be spending over $100+. My review is for the sets - they are great and filling. Parking: they validate parking (at front desk) - should be good for 6 hours. Also a tip: park in the red parking garage - that's closest to the restaurant. Food: we went during a lunch set time period - I love the flatiron sets. Broth: I personally love the pork broth - I have tried the creamy pork and it wasn't to my liking because it had a deeper slightly meatier/perhaps gamier taste profile but some ppl may love it. Definitely try the Dolar shop sauce as the servers offer it to you. And have fun at the sauce bar trying your own concoction of sauces. Why I love this place is that the ingredients are top notch and delicious in the broth. All the beef they provide are of the highest quality and adds a bit of depth and fat to the broth. If you want to add anything more I recommend the shrimp paste (which already comes with the set but you can add more) Service: great - they are on it. Ambiance: very trendy and upscale. Except for the Black Truffle Mushroom broth, you can choose two kinds of broth (they split your bowl into 2 sections). My companion had the Black Truffle Mushroom while I had the Spicy Broth & Tomato Broth. - The Dolar Shop Shrimp Pate $16.99 - this was a great find! So glad we tried this. It was very tasty! It seemed to go well with the Black Truffle Mushroom broth and Tomato broth. - Selected Beef and Lamb Platter $26.99 - The meat held up really well in the Spicy broth. - Assorted (vegetables) platter for two $16.99 - enoki mushrooms, napa cabbage, corn, and other vegetables I can't remember. These went well with the Black Truffle Mushroom and tomato broth. - Hand Crafted Noodles $6.99 - I liked this one cooked in the Tomato broth the best. For drinks, my companion had a couple of cocktails (sorry, can't remember which ones but was told they were good), and I ordered Fresh Watermelon Juice (pitcher). This spot has impeccable service and the ambiance is fantastic -- definitely good for a special meal. You get your own individual soup pot here which is fun, and then choose the items you want. Sauce bar is automatically added but definitely get it as you get access to a bunch of sides too (kimchi, edamame, fruit, dessert). I got the creamy pork and tomato broth, and we got the beef and lamb plate, and platter assortment. This was just the right amount of food for us. The soup was great, and meat was good. I really really liked the dessert bar though! It's crystal jelly with toppings of your choice -- I loved the red bean and fermented sweet rice. We chose the 58/pp AYCE and there were good amount of items to choose from. For AYCE - it did take a while to get some of the items out onto the table but we were able to order 2 rounds of AYCE. The staff were nice and helpful since it was our first time dining in they gave us a few recs and tips. Since we wanted to treat ourselves, we ordered a generous selection of high-quality meats, including the 7 Wagyu short plate, USDA prime beef, and AAA ribeye set. The meat was tender and delicious. We tried both the tomato broth and the spicy broth; the tomato was flavorful, while the spicy broth didn't have much heat to it. While the food and service were impressive, I felt it didn't quite justify the price and in no way I'm complaining about the price!! However, given the restaurant's location and top tier service, I can understand the cost. Whenever someone asked why I was heading to Vancouver, I'd simply say, "To eat!" So imagine how thrilled I was to find out there's now a location in Seattle. I've taken day trips a few times just to dine here--and yes, it's absolutely worth it. Pro tip: Make a reservation. The wait can get pretty long, even though the Seattle location has two floors. That's how popular it is! Now, the food!! ughhhhh, so good. The sauce bar has a wide variety to choose from, and the broth? That's what keeps me coming back. I used to order what was called the "Silver Broth," which I believe is now renamed to the "Chef's Creamy Pork Broth." It's rich and flavorful. We noticed larger parties get seated first, as they have more tables for large parties than tables for 2. We sat upstairs (it's two floors) at the main level. We've done a lot of hot pot spots, and this is definitely the most fancy! Though you don't have to dress fancy. Good sauce bar, and they had an ice jelly bar as well which I hadn't seen before. I visited on a Wednesday night and was seated right away since we made a reservation in advance. At the same time, I did not see anyone waiting in the front desk area despite the restaurant looking like a packed house at 6:30pm. Parking in the plaza is easy and validated at the front desk up to 6 hours so get your shopping in too. They have a huge selection of food and even if you don't go for the most expensive meats, chances are this is going to be the pricier side of hot pot that you'll experience. I think it is worth the cost though because their ingredient were awesome, sauce bar was well stocked, and waiters came around often to tend to our needs. There is both a upstairs and a downstairs and on either floor there are places to hang your coats incase you did not want to boiling broth scent to stick to you. If you're unsure where, as I was, just ask a host and they will likely hang your coats for you. Knocking off a star since the waiter spilled sauce on my friends backpack as they were clearing out the table. They could have waited or made multiple trips at least, we weren't in a rush to clear the table and by this time, the dinner rush had ended so they weren't really trying to signal us to leave either. I'm chalking it off to an honest mistake. Gratuity is included when your party is 5 or more. People dressed very casually and there were lots of families on the bottom floor. I absolutely loved the ambiance as you walk you - no smell what so ever for a hot pot place and really doesn't feel like it's actually hot pot. We sat downstairs so I did feel like it was a bit strange to walk across the kitchen (open) and then through an aisle and down the stairs for seating. Anyways - the set up was nice and service was superb and seats were super duper comfy! I love the creamy pork bone soup base ... definitely get that instead of the clear broth... which we got both and everyone loved the pork bone creamy soup base the most. I also love their own soy sauce mixed with minced garlic ~ thought it was really unique. They do have a pretty low selection of salad/fruit/dessert bar plus a condiments bar. The meat was fresh and not frozen and the veggie plate had a good variety and I enjoyed the shrimp paste and fish balls that were included! My broth of choice is always the creamy pork broth/silver broth, it's clean and is the perfect base to go with the fattiness of the beef. The soup also comes with a side of jujubes, gogi berries, chicken, and pig stomach, it sounds a little intimidating for the average eater but brings depth to the broth. There's also an unlimited sauce bar but I found the house sauce they make for your table side worked just fine. They end your meal with soft serve ice cream for the table and it's the perfect last bite before you leave. We also ordered a side of their spot prawns and it was nice to try both in the broth and sashimi style. They were sweet, fresh, and definitely worth a try if they're in season. The unlimited ice jelly bar is one of my favorite things about this place! It's a refreshing light dessert and easily customizable with their popping boba and fresh diced fruit and flavored syrups. Despite being early for our reservations, we were quickly greeted and seated. Before we even got to order, we were offered to spin a wheel as it was my mom's birthday and we got a free Short Rib platter which was perfect since we were planning on ordering it. The rest of the things we ordered were our usual hot pot essentials like an array of vegetables as well as our main protein consisting of beef. Another new thing we tried was a shrimp pate ball wrapped around a salted egg and wow was it delicious. Upon cooking it, definitely be wary of eating it as it pops just like when you cook quail eggs at a perfect soft boil. The restaurant was fairly full and bustling but it wasn't overcrowded at all. Spring in the PNW is downright amazing. The sun sets late and after hiking Rattlesnake Ledge Trail (6:30-8:45PM) we were ready for HOT SOUP. We arrived at 9:30PM hoping we didn't miss last call for food, and this place did not disappoint. First off, I don't know where exactly we were in Bellevue, but man this place is faaancy AND poppin' on a Thursday night. There was no wait to be seated, and the restaurant was easily 75% full of diners. Our server was super thorough and made sure to explain how to use the iPad to order. This restaurant specializes in individual hot pot. So when you pick your broth, you can select just one broth, or for those of you with commitment issues (‍) you can even do a combination (yes, even for individual hot pot!) I went with their house special creamy broth (pork based) and their tomato based broth, both of which were not spicy and flavorful. The server really caught my attention though, when he walked us through their LATE NIGHT HAPPY HOUR MENU!!! Late night happy hour is after 9PM on weeknights, so come thru! I couldn't have asked for a better way to end my evening! Effectively, you can pick from 8 pre-set menus, each with a different discount to boot!! Discounts range from 20-40% depending on what you pick. I'm a sucker for pork, so I picked the pork belly set which according to their menu, is normally $48.96, but is 26% off, so $35.99. It comes with access to their sauce bar and jelly bar (both with no separate charge!) The pork belly was beautifully marbled, juicy and tender once cooked (there was plenty of meat, but I don't know how many ounces it was). The set also comes with your choice of unlimited fresh noodles or rice (just let your server know if you want more!) This hot pot spot has been on my list for a while! Our friend sent us here as a recommendation so we decided to try it out. Parking: Lot of parking because it's in a shopping area of bellevue. Free parking validation. We made a reservation because we heard this spot is pretty busy. We came on a Thursday night and there were lots of people! The ambiance is pretty modern and on the fancier side for a hot pot spot. Service is friendly and professional. Food: + They have a sauce and jelly bar which is automatically included when you dine. + Hot pots are individual rather than a large shared one which can be nice depending on preference. I got the creamy bone broth and tomato broth split. + We got the meat set, veggie basket, shrimp pate, and 2 orders of their noodles. The noodles were a big hit with my family. + Sauce bar had little snacks - edamame, kimchi, peanuts + Jelly bar - was pretty fun and unique although the panda marshmallow thing is definitely more for looks than taste. + At the end of the meal, they give you a soft serve ice cream. Overall, everything was pretty tasty but I can't say it blew me away. I've always loved my meals and gatherings at Dolar - love the ambiance n service albeit slow sometimes but if you're in a hurry you shouldn't be coming for hotpot(!) meal I especially love these set meal prices you can't go wrong!! I just wish they had a seafood set!! Individual pots, awesome base soups and the best dessert bar by far compared to any other hotpot brands! Dolar Shop is definitely one of my top 3 shabu spots! I love the pork broth here!! I usually opt for the spicy broths that are offered, but the white broth is the best broth I've ever had. I also like having my own split broth instead of sharing pots like at other hot pot places. The meat here is high quality. We ordered the boneless short rib, and it was incredibly tender. The dessert and sauce bar here is amazing. They have all the toppings you could ever imagine like fruits, popping boba, and different jellies. The service here is top-notch, they always check and ask if you need anything, clean your dish ASAP. Food is good, the meat and the seafood are very fresh, although I'd say that the broth flavors are quite mediocre.
