Tried a variety of things from the menu and all were good. The cioppino rivals anything we get in San Francisco. Blueberry tart and baked Brie for dessert topped it off nicely. Great wine selection where you can see the bottles, look at the prices, and choose your wine. Retail prices for the wine and a modest corkage fee. I'm a believer that music should be audible but not so loud that you have to shout to the person across the table to overcome the music. This is our weekly date night spot! We love the cozy atmosphere and the service is always incredible. I would recommend making a reservation as sometimes it can be tough to get a spot- they fill up quickly, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. We always end up getting a few things to share. Typically we start with the Downing Board (don't forget the honeycomb- it's yum). Mussels, El Jefe during lunch hours (big enough to split), and the Deviled Eggs are always great choices. They do weekly changes to their menu it seems and you really can't go wrong with anything you order. If you ever see the Shrimp and Grits on the menu- ORDER IT! It's delicious. We have been here twice. Downtown Rockwall is quiet and charming with several good spots, a nice change from Dallas. Both times we sat on the porch which is a nice spot, and the food was also really good. Definitely recommend this spot. read more

Made reservations for an indoor seat on a Friday night at 7:15pm after a golf round. We were 17 minutes late. Here's my take - Building is very small, 1 side is more of a "wine store" and the other half is a VERY small restaurant. We said yes and chose the burrata appetizer. Probably 30 minutes later burrata arrived. Still NO drinks, server apologized and about 10 min later arrived with drinks after we had eaten all of the burrata. She clearly forgot about our cheese board. Once she arrived with our drinks I requested the check. Been here a few times had always had a pleasant experience till today. Service was just sub par. We sat on the patio, immediately had our drink order taken, glasses of wine came out in no hurry. We then ordered bites, they came out pretty quick. Never again were asked if we wanted any more wine till our glasses were empty for 10 minutes and our food was gone as well.
