As a Miami native, I wouldn't normally think to dine near Española, as it is usually a tourist spot, but The Drexel is more than worth the trek to SoBe. To begin, their cocktails are made with fresh juices, nothing bottled or from concentrate. I loved the Paloma de la Noche. For apps, the baked kefalograviera is simple and delish. We also ordered the local tuna carpaccio, which was refreshing. I would skip the charred squid, as it was lacking for me. For the main, the whole organic chicken is a MUST have. We were a party of 4 and had chicken left to spare. The chicken is juicy and flavorful and the fries are excellent. Plan ahead and order the chocolate soufflé for dessert. When you walk by the place, it will catch your attention because it so packed. All of the staff is so friendly and the ambience is incredible. I was greeted immediately and they were able to get me seated right away and also shared some recommendations. My waiter Karla, explained the dishes in great detail and also gave recommendations. She was friendly and with her working with multiple tables she was constantly checking in. I order the wild prawns with side of fries and the aoli was incredible. The salad that came with it was so flavorful everything tasted amazing! Prawns dish was absolutely incredible! Highly recommended if you love seafood. Cocktails are delicious and well balanced. There was so much not to like about this restaurant that it's hard to know where to begin. The tables were grimy. There was a foul odor emanating from the kitchen. We had a Greek cheese dish, fried cauliflower and a pizza. It all tasted the same because each dish was terribly over salted. We paid our bill and left because the food was inedible. Seven us went for dinner on a Friday night and all of us were wowed. What a great meal. I don't mind paying more when the food is this special. Everything fresh and delicious, made with care. Both indoor and outdoor seating is excellent. The service was the perfect amount of friendly and enthusiastic and spacious. Our waiter was clearly proud to serve and informed us that there is nothing is frozen. We could really tell. Between us we ordered: Tuna carpaccio, mussels, green salad, cauliflower, crab cakes, caccio e pepe, and the pizza made with pig cheeks ( I know it has a fancier name but I don't eat pork and it's all Wilbur to me). I had the green salad and I had to ask for the recipe because it knocked my socks off. A mix of buttery leaf lettuces, radicchio, frisée, mesclun perfectly dressed with a herbs, shallots, and the most subtle hint of orange and crunch. Excellent olive oil elevated every dish. Both were very well balanced and delicious. We then ordered the Snapper and Pappardelle Pasta. The snapper was light and very well seasoned served with a herb oil sauce. The pasta was very well cooked with Italian sausage and a sauce that wasn't overbearing. Everything was lovely and the service was great! The server's recommendations were spot on. The salad was refreshing, a nice tangy citrus vinaigrette. The chicken was decent and the skin had good flavor but the chicken meat lacked flavor and the jus they included was tasteless. Needed to add salt. $50 ish for a meal for two is a good deal for Miami Beach, until you realize that it's not much more than a $5 Costco chicken with some sides and sauce to make it look better. Our server was very friendly but she was very slow and we had to ask twice or more times for everything (water, salt, napkins, ketchup, etc). The decor and vibe looked super cool so fast forward to this weekend, I was in the area and was lucky enough to have visited during their first brunch. Generally I believe that I tend to have high standards when it comes to the hospitality industry. The Drexel surpassed all my expectations. From the cool vibe and breezy atmosphere to the exceptional level of service and incredible food!!!! My shrimp avocado salad was perfection, the hummus starter was awesome and the Bloody Mary was absolutely perfect, especially if you like spicy bloodys. The Drexel was an absolute standout in a recent trip to Miami Beach. Both the food and the service were phenomenal, and while many restaurants in the area have great food, the Drexel sets itself apart with friendly, professional servers and talented bartenders (perfectly made dirty vodka martini). The restaurant itself is tastefully decorated in an early 20th century, Hollywood / Art Deco style. I can't recommend enough. Next time I'm in the area I'll for sure be back! read more
