    Y'all! If you like fine dining with a side of live jazz music, you have to visit the newly renovated and newly reopened Driskill Grill! I have been waiting patiently for them to reopen and I was not disappointed at all. Date night, girl night, fine dining night! For my Friday date night, I made a reservation for 2 on Friday at 9p. I typically prefer 8:00 p.m. but 9:00 was all that was available. There is a valet right in front of the restaurant, I believe it was $25 plus tip. We were greeted when we entered and I was just in awe of the beautiful renovations. There was live music playing, jazz style on piano, there's live music every weekend I believe Friday, Saturday & Sunday. We were greeted by our server within 5 minutes of arriving then escorted to our table. Our server was super attentive and friendly. There was bread and butter brought out to the table and we both ordered cocktails. I had the Driskill martini and it was strong! My partner ordered a Mexican martini and it did not disappoint. It's not on the menu but they have a full bar so they made one. We ordered the petite Seafood Tower, Waldorf salad and red snapper. Please keep in mind that this is considered fine dining and the prices correlate. Cocktails on average are $19 to $24, petite seafood Tower was close to $100 for a 2 layer platter of fresh seafood. The Waldorf salad was not a traditional Waldorf but was fresh and had great flavor. I liked the cheese that was incorporated. The snapper was not a whole snapper just a piece of the fish and nothing comes with it all of the sides are all a la carte. I would like to come back for lunch on the weekend, there's live music and a lunch menu with lunch price. Just so that I could try more and stay within a reasonable budget. Anywho, I highly recommend visiting the new Driskill grill

    stopped by the driskill grill for a dinner reservation and the service was AMAZING we sat at the bar since we got there early and were given complementary oysters, shrimp cocktail, and delicious bread and butter!!! cocktails were amazing too - highly recommend the american trilogy! the chopped steak and fries were delicious and perfect portion size - this place is a must try!!!

    I consider myself a bit of a foodie, and can confidently say I was blown away at how fantastic this meal was. The best dinner in recent memory in fact. Start with the house gin martini (which is served with a chilled sidecar of extra martini, an olive, pickled onion and lemon twist on the side). Then order exactly this: The whole branzino, crab fried rice and a glass of the Sancerre. Exceptional, no notes, just phenomenal. Consider this my new "death row" meal.

    Newly renovated more toward a classic steakhouse, with smart updates, as of May 2026. The steaks and sides all perfectly prepared as requested. Attentive and engaging service team. Extensive wine list and beverage options. While steaks are the centerpiece offerings, Driskill Grill also features classy seafood bar offerings and vegan options.

    I love the old school elegance of The Driskill. Absolutely a classy place that's perfect for a special occasion. Stopping by the grill is often a good choice because the salads are impeccable. Specifically, the wedge! A classic salad with a touch of grace.

    The Driskill Grill is perfect for a large party, special occasion, or anniversary date! The atmosphere is very intimate, as it is tucked behind the hotel bar/restaurant area behind glass doors. The difference between the quiet in the Driskill Grill versus the bar outside is actually quite stark. The decor is fancy, classic, and elevated. We ordered the duck, which was fantastic. The portion was large, the duck was tender and flavorful, the risotto was creamy, the dried orange peel pieces were interesting, mushrooms were yummy, sauce was perfect and added another dimension. For dessert we had the roasted banana semifreddo which was also good. I had never heard of or had a semifreddo so I was curious about it - I think it's ice cream but the texture is closer to a tiramisu or dense cake. I had called ahead to ask about parking and they said they validated valet parking. In reality they only validate $10 off of the original $30 valet price.

    Came in here a few weekends ago on a Saturday evening to celebrate my friend's birthday. Overall vibes n ambiance: old-time fancy schmancy / kinda reminds me of the 1st class floor on the Titanic, stiff energy Both the food & service were mediocre. Overall, i walked away feeling pretty underwhelmed given the big hype this place gets. I mean, yet another menu downtown with little to few options/selections. Due to this, i settled with ordering the mac n cheese side dish for my food, which was creamy and tasty & worth the dairy/carb splurge, especially for a night ahead filled with booze. Another friend ordered their biscuit board & caesar salad; she said both were just okay, and that some of the biscuits/bread tasted on the staler side. The birthday girl of the evening ordered the spinach spaghetti entree, & loved it! We got a few rounds of drinks, including martinis we all enjoyed. Our server was very well aware that it was our friend's birthday dinner celebration, & yet still, she did not bring her any kind of dessert or special lil fingy?? For such a highly-esteemed establishment with the higher price points they have, i was v surprised & disappointed to find them having missed the mark on customer service, let alone leave us with any kind of "wow" impression as their reputation merits... Since their limited menu left me feeling jaded and bored, along with the seemingly unjustified, higher $$$ tags, i most likely will not be wasting my time $ etc on a second visit here.

    It is a nice and elegant restaurant inside The Driskill hotel. You have to go past the bar which was jam packed yesterday. We had reservations which I highly recommend. Emily our server was super nice and knowledgeable and helped me with all my gluten related questions. I decided to go with the breast of duck and my husband with the fillet. The duck was absolutely delicious. It comes with a mushroom risotto and candied blood orange which makes a perfect bite with the duck. The citrusy of the blood orange really elevate the duck which had a perfect and black sear, but kept the moisture inside. The risotto was very creamy and the mushroom sauce provided that earthy combination. My husband really liked his fillet although it was a bit overcooked for his taste. He mentioned the latkes were good, but on the spicier side. For dessert we had the caramel flan which was the only gluten free option on the menu besides the sorbet. The flan was perfectly cooked and it had the perfect creamy texture. However, it lacked bit more of flavor. I wish it had more vanilla and was a tiny bit more sweet and the pears were more tender.

    We just finished a delightful dinner experience at this newly reopened restaurant. We went to the pre-theater prix fixe menu and it was truly amazing. My wife and I are wine and food enthusiasts and frequently attend fine dinners with our Chaine des Rotisseurs fellow members around the planet. Tonight's dinner was Chaine worthy. We started with classic Oysters Rockefeller and Steak Tartar with bone marrow aioli and quail egg accompanied with a roasted Jalapeno. Both were plated beautifully with classic presentation. For entree's , my wife had the Tournedos Rossini with foie gras over a duck fat Latke in a truffle sauce. Prepared and presented to perfection. I had what turned out to be the house special which was a duck breast prepared with balsamic blood orange and mushroom risotto. AMAZING! The desert was a gold dark chocolate mousse cake, gianduja feuilletine base, with a mint gelato. So rich and it perfectly complimented the meal. Even the coffee was amazing. It was a local roasted coffee but had the taste and strength of a Turkish coffee. We ordered some Sambuca to compliment the richness with a bit of sweetness to offset the natural bitterness of the freshly roasted beans The atmosphere was what you would expect from a restaurant of this quality. See the pictures of the restaurant to get a sense of the atmosphere. Beyond the food, what made the dinner special was Emily, our server. She had the perfect demeanor and professionalism you would expect from a restaurant as special as this one. She knew the menu preparations and the wine list parings and made some wonderful recommendations that were on point. We asked to speak to the chef who was unavailable but we met with sous chef Cliff Benavides who gave us a blow by blow education of the food sourcing and meal presentation. He was passionate about his production and full of pride and gracious when we shared our appreciation for his efforts. He gave great praise to executive chef Mark Dayanandan for his ingenuity and also for allowing him to express his artful creations. All in all, I give this restaurant 5 stars. I should mention that we had dinner the night before at another "fine restaurant" in Austin which was very good but not near as special as this restaurant. I would go back to both but my first choice would be this restaurant which I will return to every time I visit Austin. My compliments to the chefs, servers and GM for reintroducing this restaurant in its glorious return. The only recommendation I would make is to change the music to something more consistent with the food quality and ambiance. I would suggest the Rat Pack or something similar. I realize we are in Texas and a Texas theme would be nice considering the history of the hotel but country music or 70's rock just are not a good match for the offering they honor us with as guests. This restaurant and polished staff are a must when in Austin.

    Old, dark wood, classic steakhouse in the famed Driskill Hotel. Excellent appetizers. Charcuterie and carpaccio were excellent. Menu is all steak and shellfish. Only 1 option (salmon) for those allergic to shellfish and don't want beef. 8oz filet ($60) was a little dry and overcooked. Requested medium rare. Blue-cheese spinach was too rich to eat. Scallops were good. Shrimp over seasoned and risotto was very rich. Had a large group (20) at three tables. It took 2 hours to get entrees and restaurant was less than 50% occupied. Good meal. Over-priced for food/service quality. I'd come back as a party of less than 6. Bar service was painfully slow both at the bar itself and in the grille. Understaffed for the crowd and it's a Tuesday. Only 3 occupied tables in the restaurant. It took 20 minutes to find out they were out of port. And they don't have Sambuca.

While we didn't indulge in the beverages, we enjoyed the $10 burger special which also came with fries! Next time, I'd really love to try the truffle mac and cheese (which was also on HH). We weren't aware of the upcharge for swapping out the slice of American for Cheddar (+$1.50), which would've been nice to know ahead of time, since we both got burgers and wondered about the swap...but lesson learned. Also, BIG lesson learned...the parking validation is for only two hours! We were having such a lovely time at Dish Society, but exceeded the 2 hrs (by an extra hour) and got charged a significant amount for parking. Next time, we will certainly park on the street. We tried reasoning with the parking attendant and they wanted no business in understanding we were patrons of the restaurant. It was certainly an unexpected shock, and didn't leave the best final touch of our evening (specifically in that parking garage). It's unfortunate that we got penalized for enjoying our time at dinner.

The whipped feta is always a treat -- light and creamy with a solid feta taste, but not overpowering, served with a few orange slices and thinly sliced almonds, and pita. Special dish! Beet salad excellent, but the Fresno peppers had way too much heat, so pushed them to side. My wife had the Moroccan curry, which had a very spot on Moroccan flavor (been there 3x), and was a large, filling portion so brought home leftovers. I had the grilled pork chop which was large, perfectly grill with a tasty bourbon-based glaze, served with a large roasted garlic clove. Wonderful dish. This place is so intoxicating from the aqua blue color palate and funky green art work to the alluring lighting and huge metal plate (looks like something from a ship...also their logo). My brother said the green artwork looked like broccoli. My brother ordered the Idaho trout with coconut rice and Brussel sprouts. I sampled his food and it was all good. The standout was the Brussel sprouts...crispy with this absolutely delicious drizzle. I ordered the Mezze plate with a flavor explosion and many desirable texture. It had lamb kabobs, fresh salad (emphasis on fresh) with thinly sliced cucumbers, finely sliced onions and creamy feta (never had creamy feta), red round sweet peppers, hummus with the most delightful pesto like sauce, and olives. Oh my...what a delicious lunch! Morgan, our server, was attentive and accomodating. She moved us to another table when we notice our table was rocking a little. Great catching up with my brother and excellent meal!

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING we ordered was fresh, delicious, light, yet filling. I got the Social Butterfly drink which had butterfly pea powder in it to make it purple. It was as delicious as it was pretty. All the cocktails sounded amazing, I can't wait to go back and try them all. For starters we got the Guacamole, Brussel Sprouts and Crispy Macha Potatoes. Each of these were executed to perfection. The guacamole was fresh, topped with pomegranate seeds and well seasoned. The chips that came with it were light, crispy and it was gone in a flash! The Brussel Sprouts were cooked perfectly...tender and flavorful...not greasy...literally the best I've ever had. The Crispy Macha potatoes were next level!!! I have no idea how they make them, but they were SOOOOOO GOOD!!! I got the Waygu Sirloin as my main course and my friends got the Coconut Curry Squash. It was painfully boring. We had our 6-year-old, who is head of the Picky Eaters Society, so we ordered bread with butter. This 6-year-old, who eats bread on the daily, took one bite and wouldn't eat any more. We even get gluten-free bread regularly, and he eats it. The bread was fine, but don't expect flavor. By some miracle, they even made butter tasteless. I considered calling the Vatican to see if this was some holy, divine miracle, but my wife suggested maybe the main course would be better. We settled on the pesto pasta with chicken added for an additional fee. The pasta was good. Great texture, good flavor, and the combination of ingredients was good, but it's nothing original. It's pesto pasta. It's a classic. I appreciate the pomegranate seeds on the guacamole because it's original, it's clever, and it's different. We also ordered a special soda drink for our son, and it had a small black bug on top. I had them take it back and replace it. I kind of expected a "Listen, we apologize for the bug. Here's half off dinner," or something, but nothing. Service was fine, and it's a decent atmosphere. If you're looking for a place to sit and talk it's a great place, but if you want food or a drink go somewhere else.
