Clam chowder bread bowls, Local Rock Cod, and Fish, Prawns, & Chips
    Raymond Y.

Saw the other Yelp reviews and everyone was raving about clam chowder bread bowls. We ordered two of them, and the Local Rock Cod + the Fish, Prawns & Chips (subbed with onion rings). Definitely see the hype with the clam chowder bowls--it was absolutely stuffed and filled to the brim (and spilling over) with a healthy amount of clams, potatoes, and other goodies. I thought the cod was decent but lacked a bit of flavor. Fish and chips were good and I liked that there wasn't an excessive amount of batter. I liked the onion rings as well! I wish we came during the day so we could see the views of the ocean, but we'll have to visit again

You can't beat the view especially at sunset. Spectacular views. I had a wonderful Manhattan and the clam chowder in a bread bowl. Server was attentive and kind. Open seating in the bar. Great place by the ocean. If I'm ever driving through again I would definitely stop here again.

Perfect spot for dinner with a sunset view! Food and service alway great. The specials are always good. Do try the old fashioned and Bloody Mary, as well as finish off with the crème brûlée!

We came in on our first night and sat at the bar. I wanted a non-alcoholic drink, and the bartender created a delicious lime-coconut cocktail for me--it was amazing! The service was so warm and attentive that we decided to come back the next night for dinner. I had the clam chowder in a bread bowl, which was absolutely to die for, along with the crudo and shrimp croquettes--everything was fresh and flavorful. We were lucky to have the same bartender again, and the service was just as fantastic as the first night. A+ all around--highly recommend!

The food was so good we ended up coming back two days in a row. Everything was reasonably priced, the portions were generous, and the staff was incredibly friendly. The ambiance is beautiful and really adds to the overall experience. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting!

Great location, service, and food! We snagged a great table overlooking the bay on a beautiful day. I came for the clam chowder in a bread bowl and it did not disappoint. Very tasty and filling! The crab cakes were also great, perfectly crispy and with lots of great flavor. We managed to grab parking right across the street and checked out all the cool shops after :)

Best clam chowder ever! With Dungeness crab added on top the other picture is halibut and chips with coleslaw, but it really tastes like a salad. It's really good.

Super fun! The waitress was incredible she got me in late and was so helpful and polite. The food was really good. You can see right on to the bay out the windows. Very yummy thank you

Long time Morro Bay establishment with an amazing location. Diverse, seafood focused menu. Full bar available. Not busy during our lunch visit so service was nicely quick. Our service person was excellent. I came hungry today so an appetizer was in order. The Shrimp Croquettes, which if memory serves were a special, sounded great. Served with a Romesco sauce. Unfortunately, they were served lukewarm. And the flavor of the sauce was the overwhelming taste. If you ordered them without the sauce or on the side and they came warm I think these would be much better. My DW chose to order what was the seasonal salad-A Beet and Burrata Salad served with grilled bread. This came served on bibb lettuce with a miso style dressing. Prepared with red and gold beets, it looked gorgeous and the taste was pronounced as "delicious". My choice today was the 3 Piece Cod and Chips. I feel if you like cod and chips this should be your choice as well. Perfectly fried fresh flaky fish with a light tempura batter. I would bet big money this was never frozen fish battered at time of order. It most certainly tasted like it. The fries were hot and fresh. We would come back here every time we visited without reservations. They 100% know what they are doing. Highly recommended.

I went to try some Happy Hour items. Loved the calamari and sauces. I also enjoyed 6 fresh Morro Bay Oysters and a house margarita. Nice view of Morro Rock and the bay and the service was very friendly.

Food was served hot and clam chowder was delicious. We have been here a few times and they haven't disappointed.

Wanted lunch looking at Morro Bay Rock and that's exactly what we got! Windows line the entire perimeter of the building and overlook the bay and the rock! All the traditional seafood offerings available. We ordered Tuna Melt, chicken Club, crab & Shrimp salad and clam chowder. All our food was tasty. The clam chowder bowl was large! Had little shrimps floating in the middle. Couldn't finish! Salad was very large, couldn't finish!! Fresh. Also didn't finish the Chicken club which had avocado and bacon!! There were tons of fries, too salty. And my husband DID finish his tuna melt! Nothing stood out as the best ever, but it was all good food. Service was prompt and polite.

I ordered the Calamity Jane burger, and wow, it was absolutely delicious and HUGE. You will honestly get full after eating just half of it. I also got a side of their potatoes with the spicy garlic sauce for dipping, and it was so good. Definitely a must-order! They also had a great selection of sangrias, which was a nice bonus. The only thing I'd mention is that it can be a little pricey if you're dining solo, so if you're going on a date, be ready for your pockets to take a little dent. Next time I come back, I definitely want to try the shrimp tacos because they sounded amazing. I was torn between those and the burger, but I went with my default order. Overall, delicious food, fast service, and a great spot in Morro Bay. I would definitely come back!

Had to park across the street in the surf shop parking lot for a handicapped space, luckily the traffic wasn't too bad crossing the Embarcadero. Waited quite a while to be seated. Loud concrete floor with metal chairs, could hear the conversation of all the other diners!! Distractions from people walking by on the Embarcadero, but great Rock view. Ordered cheeseburger with potatoes. Salad was "mixed greens" so I didn't order a salad. Next time I will get their wedge salad, but I didn't know if I could finish it with the burger and potatoes this time. Server said no fries or chicken strips becasue they don't have a fryer. Free refills for sodas, but only a little bit of ice. It was a bit syrupy and had a lack of carbonation, might have been Pepsi instead of Coke. Steak knife included with utensils, which came in handy because the burger was really slippery and I had to eat with a knife and fork!! Potatoes looked overcooked but that was because they are purple potatoes!! They tasted ok, luckily not too spicy like everything is these days. I liked the non-purple potato's texture better. Slow to refill my drink. I will come here again and have the wedge salad, from the pic it looks smaller than I expected this time around so it will be able to be eaten with a burger!!

Super efficient and perfect for a camping trip setup when you don't want to deal with a long wait or sit-down meal. Service was welcoming and friendly, the clam chowder is a must, our drinks stayed filled, and the ambience complimented the calm, cool, friday morning we had earlier on the water. California clam chowder - As described on their menu, it is a mix of their clam chowder and their spicy green chile soup. We absolutely loved this. I appreciate that it was not too salty, something that tends to be for a lot of places that serves clam chowder. There was plenty of clams, as you would expect but I come to find out later on my trip to a fish house in Monterey that this isn't always the case. We will come back to Bayside Cafe just for this. Fish & Chips - This one could have been a lot better. The fries and fish were fried to perfection but would have liked more seasoning since I did not get much from the fish. Drinks: Iced Tea - Sure, Iced tea not sweetened can be the same anywhere else but I don't know what it is but the brew that day was on point. The best part was that our servers made sure we didn't see the bottom. Overall, if they improved upon the flavor on the fish and chips and increased the portion of fries, I think Bayside Cafe would be a solid 5/5. Regardless, their location, clam chowder, and friendly service, is enough for me to return if we go kayaking again!

Every once and again a Fosters will appear on our radar and be the perfect solution to a hungry question. Instantly we can recall the first time we saw a Fosters employee take a soft serve vanilla cone, turn in upside down and plunge it in to a vat of melted chocolate before presenting you with your first "chocolate dipped cone". Magic! We now see another sort of magic happening as these long held traditional burger joints start fading away. Each Fosters tries to bring its own personality into the mix and it can turn into something special, as it has with this Morro Bay location. We arrived, parked at the curb outside and immediately noticed the sidewalk chalk art. Arrows individually drawn with Fosters treats and playful characters in bright colors, directing customers to the order window and a hopscotch for playing whilst you await your treats! The dining room also looks newer compared to other Fosters we've seen, and its cleanliness was very inviting. Hubs ordered 2 hot dogs and a small Pepsi. Simple. $11.77 TL. While, that made the small(aka baby sized 6oz, maybe?) Pepsi a whopping $3, it was a cheap, simple and delicious enough meal for him to be satisfied. In Morro Bay, along the Embarcadero, we later noticed a walk up window charging $7 for a single hot dog. While eating, we noticed a dad & daughter sit down with their food. Shortly after, she knocked over her Dr. Pepper. Dad jumped to ask for paper towels to clean, but staff came out promptly, cleaned it up and replaced her drink. Noice! Note: no refills on sodas is offered, but that's no reason to punish a kid that already feels bad. Well done, staff! Everyone worked fast and efficiently and the place had personality!
