The small plates/appetizers menu is larger than the entrees menu here, and I wish I would have tried other small plates because the rice balls were a stand out. Delicious! I asked for a drink recommendation after expressing some of my preferences and was served a whiskey sour I liked. Considering the super touristy location, I thought the prices were fair. Had a reservation for 2 at 5:15pm on 1/30. Blond hostess was very rude. She sat us by the kitchen when there were plenty of other open tables. I asked if we could be moved and she snipped "No we are fully booked, enjoy" and walked away without looking back. Within 10 min, they broke up a table of 6 along the wall to make three tables for 2 and sat 2 other people. Then sat 3 people at a 2-top, with one 2-top remaining empty for a while. Not a great face for the restaurant. It doesn't take that much effort to just be nice and a little bit accommodating when you clearly have the ability. Food was average, so not anything that made up for the poor attitude. Won't go back or reccomend. read more

Despite the establishment being located near the touristy Times Square, the restaurant/bar does not give off the kitschy-vibe. I hung out with some friends to start off the night. Stopped here on a whim Saturday afternoon for a light lunch and a drink. Despite the nice weather, there weren't that many people inside, so was able to get a table for two without any wait. Between two people, shared the Fried Cauliflower ($17) and the Mezze Platter ($21). Very pricey for starter level dishes, but the entrees were even more expensive. Cauliflower is breaded well when not greasy, smothered by a harissa mayo sauce. Good flavor albeit a little sweet, pairing nicely with a beer. The player included a trip of dips - hummus, babaganoush, tzatziki - asking with naan and veggies. Each of the dips are chunky in the good way, going well alongside the bread. Draft list is solid as well, with options for different styles. Service is very quick, and they do have sports playing on all the various tvs. Aside from the price point, a nice stop for food and drink. read more

I often go to lunch alone, and I always feel welcomed by Connor and Ana, who have always been attentive and remember the small details. They are some of the best bartenders in the area as well; love that they often rotate the menu depending on the season. I often get the Elgin chopped salad with chicken which is delicious, but I'll change it up and have never been disappointed by their recommendations. I was out here for a team dinner and the first thing that crossed our minds were the free whiskey house shits for checking on Yelp. While not shown on photo, the whiskey was smooth like butter (smoother than Japanese whiskey) and has a great kick to it. The place gets a 10/10 for their house whiskey shot. Food-wise, I got the French Onion Soup Burger and Fries. The truffle cheese on fries were amazing but the texture of the fries itself were just not my favorite, a little thin, cooked a little too much, and loses fluffiness inside. The burger was as good as you imagined a French soup onion burger to be but it falls off after the first bite (as if your expectations have been met). Overall, food is a 7/10 but the whiskey a 10/10. The burger was greasy and yummy, exactly what you expect from a burger. However, the patty is a bit dry in the center. The saving grace of the meal were the drinks we ordered! My paper plane was fresh, bright, and did not taste strong, despite feeling strong. My dining partner's Aaron Burr was very strong; the whiskey overpowers the flavor of the fruit. The grilled chicken burger was too overcooked and the chicken was dry. The sesame seed bun was probably better than the chicken. This was a great late lunch experience for a family. The mushroom pizza was the best dish our group ordered, in my opinion. Also got fish and chips--good!--a couple of impossible burgers that I didn't actually try but looked good, and the mac n cheese (kids thought it was incredible-- it was great but....$29? Hmm..). These bars/ restaurants have been replaced by ones that are stuffy and pretentious. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food, drinks, and service were.
