The food was delicious. There were 19 people in our party and we all ordered the Texas BBQ Platter (different meat and vegetable choices). The order was brought out in a timely manner. Nick, our waiter was on point!!! There was never an empty glass on the table. He was efficient, extremely kind, always had a smile on his face, and delivered each person the correct order (all 19 of us)!!!!! We were all impressed with his attentiveness and positive attitude! Of course, the Peacocks are always such a pleasant surprise and add so much to the ambiance at your location. We took so many pictures tonight because even in the winter season the scenery is impeccable! Other staff members that certainly deserves kudos are: Malory, Chelsea, and James (hopefully I spelled your names correctly)! We just pulled into town and asked for a recommendation. It was a late lunch early dinner but it was spot on. The food was great, chicken fried steak and barbecue. A wonderful experience all around from the service to the atmosphere to the food. I highly recommend checking this place out! We started off with the fried brisket mac which was delicious. I tried their avocado turkey club with a baked potato. It truly was a great sandwich with fresh smoked turkey and fresh avacados. Their Dijon Chicken sandwich was delicious and the chicken was tender! The West Texas Fried Chicken Salad is a favorite of mine. Their raspberry vinaigrette was light yet creamy. The restaurant is surrounded by water, greenery, and a couple of beautiful peacocks. (If you're scared of birds like I am, no worries. We've eaten here quite a few times and we always have a great experience with good food and service. Emily went above and beyond today as our server. She was attentive, timely, kind, and great at her job. Our favorites of the day were the Tennessee Hot Chicken Sandwich, the strawberry and blackberry margaritas, and the peach crisp with vanilla ice cream. The kids love seeing the peacocks and the view from the dining room overlooks a stream and beautiful trees. I love this place! I had the Chopped Briquette Light plate with Cole slaw and beans. Very tasty and the light plate is more than enough for me. It comes with a dinner roll, pickle slices and sliced onions on the side. The food was excellent and I highly recommend! Huge gravel parking lot and the scenery is very attractive. Even though they do not have the option the reserve online, either here or on the website, and their social pages and website do not mention to call- we were told they were not accepting walk-ins (for 3 people) and that we had to call to reserve. WOW!!! Talk about an oasis in the cotton fields. The Escondido Grill is a gem in the land of oil. A third generation run find, the grill has Texas history by the yards. Original owner was part of the early Texas Rangers and part of the founders of Furrs Cafeteria. We stumbled upon the place on our way back from hunting elk in Arizona and could not have been happier on the find. Just off I-27, the meals were HUGE, the food was outstanding, the service was impeccable, and the overall bill was half of what we expected. Among the various entre's we had, the spicy fried chicken and pulled pork were very good. The cheddar cheese sausage was too greasy. The garlic mashed potatoes were good. The green-chili cornbread was dry; hard; barely edible. We tried the peach cobbler ala mode. Another let-down...a very meager portion; no great cobbler pie crust. Three of us read on the entrance door that masks were required or maybe it said must be worn. I I Our waiter started out with a full mask then it became a chin mask. Now the okra was great, but the sandwich wasn't as good as I had hoped. The brisket was fatty and greasy. Greasy enough that the bun was soggy. Now as a corporate pilot who travels daily across the country, lives in East Texas and eats a ton of BBQ, I'd say I have a pretty good feel on brisket/ sausage sandwiches. We had an outstanding meal at Escondido Grill last night. We were a party of 10 and the service was great and the food was fantastic, my wife and I could not pass up the smoked prime rib. We ordered medium rare and it was perfectly cooked and one of the tenderest and most flavorful one we've ever had. Everyone else really enjoyed their meals and service. We enjoyed the beautiful setting and friendly waitstaff almost as much as the food. Highly recommend the beef stroganoff. It was delicious!

We stopped by here for a family dinner after going to the airport. It was a really nice atmosphere with live music. The food was good and everyone enjoyed their meal. Mahi-mahi special was really nice and seasoned well. The burgers were huge and delicious and the fries were more like a potato wedge from a frozen bag but they were still good. The chicken fried steak and Tennessee chicken was crispy and well seasoned. We enjoyed this place a lot and we will for sure return and eat here again.
