This place is sooo cool and beautiful ambiance and they have good food too. I will say though to go service was poor when i placed a order to go. The girl over the phone seemed impatient and not the friendliest. I've noticed for to go orders restaurants typically will let you know the time frame it will be ready and repeat your order. When I asked how long it would take she made a huge sigh on the phone and seemd agitated i asked. Which isn't a huge deal but it's uncomfortable as a customer. when i got home with the food a enteree and 3 sides were missing. I called and she said she never wrote down for chicken fried steak, guess that's her fault for not wanting to repeat my order, and we live roughly 25+ minutes away so i decided not to make another trip back up there for my dinner. Not complaining with quality of food, but it is nice to have friendly service over the phone to work with you, especially if they made a mistake of not taking your order correctly. read more

We checked in on Facebook and received the Texas Style Deviled Eggs for free as a thank you. They were delicious! They're definitely a unique combo but I would highly suggest trying them. For an entree we ordered the Big Boy Platter with pulled pork, sausage, beans, and coleslaw; and The Feast with beans, coleslaw, and cornbread. My Big Boy Platter meats were delicious, very tender and juicy with lots of flavor! I was a little disappointed with the coleslaw as it was a little too mayo-based for my taste but still good. The beans were very tasty, and I would definitely recommend you try them! He got the Feast and originally was disappointed as he only received 1/3 a rack of ribs instead of the advertised 1/2 rack but staff corrected the issue as soon as it was brought to their attention. All of the meats were tender and well seasoned -- although the turkey and pork were better than the beef. They offer 3 sauces: Carolina Mustard (amazing!), Texas Sweet (great), True Texas (meh...) The staff was very sweet to us and they do a great job of being attentive without hovering. All in all this place is great! I would suggest they do more advertising as it's a bit out of the way and of the 2 times we have been here it's always empty. read more

We stopped here on our way from Austin to Santa Fe and it was the perfect way to break up the trip. The grounds are so beautiful, and we especially enjoyed the company of the Peacocks! The hostess and our server were extremely friendly and helpful, and I so appreciated that they were able to do this while also making us feel safe and comfortable during COVID. Everyone was wearing masks and they had a QR code on the table for us to access the full menu. I had the brisket, mac & cheese, and green beans, and everything was absolutely delicious. During my dinner on Saturday night, the waitress Jac was incredibly inclusive to me and my disorderly family. All of my requests were instantly fulfilled by her. She kept a glass half full approach on our table quite literally. Once I asked for orange juice, she grew a tree in front of me that bore fruit with the most lovely oranges you've ever seen. She than proceeded to hand squeeze them into a glass for my enjoyment. I even asked for a different style of music to play, in which her response was pulling out a fiddle, and starting to break down into the craziest Polka music you've ever heard. I hosted a rehearsal dinner in the Peacock Room with Escondido Grill recently. The BBQ plate with brisket and turkey was so good. The beans were a combination I had never had and could not have enough of! They were so good. The corn muffins were amazing. We had several people who were gluten free and the staff made sure their meals were good and safe. Our server was outstanding and very attentive to our needs. The price was very reasonable for such a large party and communication while arranging the event was stellar. Chelcy, the restaurant manager, checked in several times the week of the event for any last minute changes. She even assisted our dedicated server throughout the evening. read more

We went for my Wife's birthday. Haven't been there since it was the County Line. Atmosphere is second to none. Our server, Elise, was first class all the way! The waitstaff were pleasant, and the setting is wonderful. Unfortunately, after being seated and placing our order, it took an hour and twenty minutes before our food came to the table. I am a former waiter myself, and waitstaff should be trained to stop by tables to talk with guests and keep them posted when the kitchen is in crisis. And when the food takes more than an hour to come out after orders are placed, management should make the rounds and speak with the guests. As for the food, the Texas Ranger Burger and the Grilled Cheese were very good. The filet mignon also was well prepared and flavorful, but not so flavorful that we went without A1, and the garlic butter that was supposed to be on top of the steak never appeared. The barbecue was dry and cut with the grain into strings, not good. Our table had brisket, chopped brisket, chicken, and pulled pork--I cannot recommend any of them, though the chicken was best. As for sides, the garlic mashed potatoes and fries were quite good. The smokehouse beans were and green chili creamed corn were pretty good. And the green beans were ok. We also ordered two bread baskets. The green chili cornbread was sweet flavored and enjoyable; the rolls did not taste as if they were made at the restaurant. In my opinion, management should have comped the bread or the drinks (that would have been two beers and a glass of wine) or offered a complimentary dessert or two to the table. Instead, everyone just looked panicked for most of the evening and relieved as closing time approached. I may try the restaurant again a year from now, but I doubt I will have barbecue. And I would be very wary about booking the venue for big events, unless food is being catered from offsite. If the Spirit Ranch-owned Escondido Grill struggles to serve a bit-quite full restaurant at 8pm on a Saturday night, what might happen to a group there for a rehearsal dinner, quinceanera, etc. read more

If you want some great food in a casual/fun atmosphere, this is your place. Everyone in our party was very pleased with the food...Dijon Chx sandwich, ribeyes, and ultimate grilled cheese sandwiches....all delish! There was plenty of seating inside and out. They even had live music was on the patio (a Friday night). Service was great and fast! There all sorts of groups and group sizes. (Families with small kids to couples on dates.). The free roaming peacocks always are entertaining to watch. We will definitely be back! read more

Giving it 3 stars because of delay in service and The outdoor seating is too close together in the midst of a pandemic. They have plenty space outside but they aren't using it to space groups apart. This is a true GEM of Lubbock. Every detail from start to finish was top of the line. The hostess was incredibly friendly and graciously moved our party outside upon request. Our waiter Chuck was phenomenal and had us laughing the whole night. He gave the most wonderful recommendations and we were never lacking anything. The atmosphere here is something out of a fairy tale. The live music under the shade of the large oaks, along with the gorgeous string lights, truly makes you feel like you're living out of a Nicholas Sparks novel. The fried Mac and Cheese balls were OUTSTANDING... I mean SO. FREAKING. GOOD. The drinks were tasty, although the pours seemed a little light, (but I'm from Napa so maybe it's just a Texas thing). I'll first say, the bbq itself was good, nothing special but it was good. But I do not have to drive so far north for "good" bbq. There's plenty of that inside Lubbock. The problem was the sides, the waitress and the flies. The sides I had were not that good. I had the garlic mashed potatoes and that's literally what it is, smashed potatoes with some garlic. I asked for the baked beans but apparently they were out and the waitress didn't ask me what other side I would like, she just took it upon herself to sub in the 5 bean "chili" as they call it. I would have never have asked for a 5 bean "chili." They give you pickles, which is normal for bbq, but these were sweet pickles. Sweet?? I understand flies come into buildings all the time. But there were so many that it was obnoxious. Swatting flies while sitting inside while trying to eat is annoying. Will I go back? No, never. And if anyone asks me about this place or wants to go, I will tell them no and why. read more

To begin, the food and service were satisfactory. To judge either with more detail would have required a more pleasing "ambiance." The evening was seriously compromised by the musician hired to enhance the experience. I am a professional musician, and were I hired to provide dinner music for restaurant patrons, I would keep in mind the subordination of my role. Dinner music is background music - it is not an opportunity to project one's artistry at levels of volume making it difficult for patrons to hear the conversation of their dinner partners. Nor is it a concert opportunity, regardless of the musician's personal intentions to be acknowledged. The performer's choice of music this evening was played with pounding rhythm at an unnecessarily high volume level. Even our wait staff had to raise her voice to conduct her responsibility at the table. This intrusive dinner element made it difficult to enjoy the meal we were served. My wife and I hurried through the meal in order to be rid of the negative aural experience. I wish that owners and management could recognize and act upon this lessened dining experience - as a result, we do not anticipate patronizing this otherwise pleasant restaurant again any time soon. Our first time Friday night and what a great experience. Every member of the staff was so helpful! Felt super comfortable with the health and safety precautions. The drink special was so yummy. We tried the deviled egg appetizer -definitely a must do! For dinner my husband had the prime rib-he loved it. Our friend did the grilled cheese-next time I'm getting that-he loved it. I came here on a date last night and I loved it. The servers were really good and the food was incredible. I wish I took a picture of both of our foods because​ it was one of those crazy foods you see on the food network.​ I would 100% try the grilled cheese sandwich, it is really really good! It was soo cheesy and delicious. But I​ got a side of mash potatoes​ and it was pretty bland but I liked it better than​ in most restaurants​. I am not a huge sweet type of food guy so I really did not like their​ sauces. They need something that is spicy and to improve their​ BBQ sauce. My date got a turkey sandwich and she loved it. It looked really good to me but she really did not like the mash potatoes​​ either​. They just started serving alcohol about 3 months ago, so you must grab a shiner while you are here but it's​ in the bottle, ​not a cup...​ Need to know: The​ only reason I came here is for the scenery​ because it is amazing. They literally​ have peacocks walking around, and they have a quiet​ stream in the background. I think this would be a lot nicer if they let us sit outside. But the food was soo good, I will definitely​ come back again​. Sidenote: The​ only way I knew about this place is because​ I use to go to a bible study here. I knew a while ago it use to be a restaurant​ and closed down but now it opened up again I guess. I really think they need help marketing their​ restaurant, now that it is open again.
