For our family we would give this place 5-stars. This is my first review but our 3rd time ordering from here. First we ordered a Ninjago cake for our son's 6th birthday. Then cupcakes for our daughter's Sweet 16. Lastly a cake for my 40th (I know I'm so young, lol). All the cakes were made with precision and full of flavor. With the Ninjago cake it was a 3-level cake, all levels were edible. Everything on the cake was edible! EVERYTHING. You will see the sword and ninja stars, bamboo and eyes. Wow. Yeah it was great. And for my 40th cake we didn't need all the levels to be edible so we only made the last level a "cake". But everything on it you can eat. The handicap sign, teeth, glasses and prescription. I had ordered this cake last minute on Ubereats for my boyfriend's birthday after not having luck getting one from HEB during this pandemic and thought I was going to have do without. Luckily this business appeared on my Ubereats! Not only was the delivery super fast but I had put in the notes if possible could they add a candle or happy birthday since it wasn't a option to do so in the app. I honestly wasn't expecting anything out of it though. I ordered a cake way in advance to be picked up on Friday morning. I received a call on Wednesday telling me to come pick up the cake $150 cake mind you, on Wednesday evening. I asked why would we want it two days early? I expressed concern for freshness. This fell on deaf ears. Reason being is bad weather on Thursday. This still does not justify picking it up two days early. As weather is to improve prior to my original scheduled pick up time. They gave me no choice advising that the cake was already done. I am so disappointed. We have no place to store it as it must be refrigerated. It was presented in a box far too large for any household refrigerator and any attempt to move it will mess the cake up. My fiancé and I wanted to support small business for our wedding and we found their place. We ordered a 3 tier cake and 3 dozen cupcakes. We moved the wedding because of COVID but moved it to a different city. We paid 500+ for all of this, which the price isn't the issue. We had to ask for a return which they didn't do, I understand. I knew they couldn't afford to give me my money back. But they said I had to use it all at once within a year. Who needs that much cake credit for something other than a wedding? No one. I asked if we could split the credit in two, it shouldn't be an issue right? Absolutely not, it was like I asked them the unspeakable. They were livid. The owner got on the call and tried to shame me for asking saying "none of my other clients complained like you do", "everyone else respects my reasons." First of all, I'm not disrespectful to her at all. I understand. But I don't need that much cake or cupcakes? Secondly, her reasons didn't make as much sense as she thought. We came in for a cake tasting where we were at at a table and given 4 samples. We weren't given an explanation on what we were tasting. Easily the WORST cake shop I've ever been to. If you don't care about what the cake tastes like at all, and only care about looks and price, this is the place for you. But if you actually want to serve people half decent cake, stay far far from here. My fiancé and I went in for the Black Friday add: 50% off wedding cake. We set up a tasting and we're presented with their "best sellers." The cakes were kind of dry, pretty flavorless, and tasted like they were made with low quality ingredients. We then went on to the fillings. The fillings were the absolute worst part of the tasting. The "strawberry" is just that gel goop you get out of a plastic bag. Not actual strawberry anything. The chocolate was similar to canned pudding. The "whipped filling" was equal to pre-frozen cool whip. All flavors tastes similar to what you'd imagine plastic to taste like. In addition to this, we asked the consultant if they offered any homemade fillings and she said that they did not, not even the whipped cream. Do you know how easy it is to make homemade whipped cream? It was at that point that not even the 50% Off could keep us in the shop, and we left the tasting... without even finishing the samples. The website was great because it gave so many examples of what they do. They worked within our budget and were efficient and helpful. I didn't give it five stars because they didn't have our cake flavors ready for our cake tasting. Spoke with the manager and she proceeded to let me know that her cake shop was special and not only was she the manager but she was the owner and they were not like your H-E-B or Walmart and I was once again stuck with the cake. I evened wanted to make a compromise and just buy the baked cake as is and take my business elsewhere and she stated that her designers were paid by commission and that was set in stone. There was no flexibility and I stated that I would provide my feedback in other forums for the way they run their business and she stated that she would hang up on me for losing my decorum on the phone. The cake we ordered was a two tier, bottom sheet was white cake with raspberry filling while the six inch square on top was chocolate with Bavarian Creme filling. Absolutely to die for delicious!
