I'm not a huge fan of crowds or small bars, so when I left Paradise after an event for my non-profit and waundered into Falcon, I was a little unnerved. First, while trying to get my favorite drag queen's attention as soon as I walked in, a very drunk older mexican guy slurred something over and over. When I finally gave up trying to ignore him and actually attempted to understand what he was saying it was "You want a beer? beeeeer? You want cerveza? Chula beeerrrrrr?". Aww. That's nice. First thing in and I'm being offered a drink. However, afraid he would demand friendship (or possibly more) if I accepted his cerveza, I declined and pushed my way further in. OK look- it's tiny. Teensy tiny little itty bitty bar. It has an appropriately insey winsey dancefloor at the back. Did that stop us? HELLS NO! We had just worked our asses off selling raffle tickets to drunk people who had never even heard of our organization and put up with snooty wait staff over at Paradise. It was time to get our drink on and dance off some stress. Oh the music. Perfect wonderful dance mixes. Gay music galore. I love it. And you know what? Eff trying to get to the damn dancefloor! We took over the very small walkspace right at the front of the bar. And you know what else? Everyone else thought it was a great idea. Pretty soon, the whole damn bar was a dancefloor and even people ordering drinks were doin' the Uh-Oh. Man I love the gay bar crowd. And the drinks. Oh man.. the drinks. I got totally trashed for absolutely free. No, really. Ok, I'm not saying this will happen to you. I happen to have generous friends who were congratulating me on a job well done. Oh, and ok, maybe the bartender had just started dating my best friend and was trying to get on my good side. Oh and yeah, maybe my dear drag friend Jewels was working the bar and "bought" me my last drink of the night. Um... editor's note: Never never never END the night on Patron. Especially if the drag queen pouring your "shot" grabs a tumbler and fills it up. And really especially if you're stupid when you're drunk and feel you absolutely have to finish said tumbler full of Patron. Eeshk. So I stumbled out of the bar filled with Grey Goose and Patron and was a very happy girl. Go to The Falcon. Drink up. Tip well. Tell Joe I said hi. Horrible service! This is the worst bar ever for service. I have been here 3 times since moving into the neighborhood and all 3 times has been the same experience. They have this young Latino bar tender who waits on his friends before you. I have been here on weekends only and it's always the same. When it's your turn to order he will look around and take his friends order before you. I waited 20 minutes tonight when I was next in line because his friends were calling him for drinks. He eventually came and took me and my friends order when no other of his friends were waiting. He even looked our way several times, but ignored us. I would fire them all and start over, these bar tenders don't deserve a job. I will NEVER go back to this hole with their horrible service, EVER again. The first time it happened the older bar tender too my drink order when I think he realized what was happening. The second time I walked out, this time I stuck it out to time him on taking our drink order. There won't be a 4th. read more

Im not gay, but I do like cheap drinks.... About a year ago, me and some friends read that Tori Spelling was spotted in long beach at "the falcon". In search for adventure, we decide to check it out. We did not realize it was a gay bar until we were already in it....I dont care that its a gay bar, obviously I keep writing reviews on them...Im just saying...Didnt know. Anyhow, we go on a Sunday Evening....Its a small dive...But let me tell you something....They have $1.00 draft beer on sundays!! Thats right... Not only that, but I left with the biggest ego boost! I sat next to the nicest man, who kept feeding me with compliments....Apparently I might be cuter than Liv Tyler! (oh and the bartenders were baffled by the whole tori spelling thing.) My second experience wasnt any less enjoyable...I actually took a date here....The bartender didnt even charge us for our drinks (since they were only a dollar). He also let us watch greys anatomy and shut the juke box off...(it was sort of dead still)...THEN, a wonderful man came in selling handmade beautiful scarfs....they were 20 bucks a peice, and he ended up giving me three, for free!! me me me me me me me me me me!!!! I love this place....(In small doses of course.) PS. Jason isn't crazy (well, yeah he is, but in a fun way), just very very very o-p-e-n. He's someone who presents things at face-value. G) More importantly, now that we have stroked Jason's ego and he can calm down about online reviews, I gotta say that the Sunday Beer Bust rocks my world. I am not savvy on the gay bar offerings of our lovely city on Long Beach, but there has got to be better out there than this joint! To be clear, I actually like the house party ambiance minus the canned sardine feeling. The music was cool and the TV screens gave me a nice visual distraction when my friend was busy chatting up some handsome fellow. So what's my gripe?! The bartender, who was more intoxicated than some of the patrons, had the nerve to stop serving my friend because they said that he was too drunk. I have plenty of friends who are bartenders and I fully respect that it is their job to keep people under their limits, but my friend and I had only had ONE drink!! Neither of us were even close to being buzzed. As a matter of fact, I was yawning from boredom, but that's my fault for being the only female in gay bar full of men, haha! Soooo, imagine you have this kinda creepy uncle who has this big house, where he lives all alone. You only get to see him on the holidays, and the other family members aren't too keen about you being left alone with him for more than 20 minutes at a time. You know its not right, but you can't resist, I mean, he has the best jukebox in town! The Falcon is the bar this uncle builds in his basement. Super narrow and neighborhoody, I have been addicted to the Falcon since going there for the first time more than a year ago. Become a regular there, and you can die a happy man. The drinks are the cheapest I have found, outside of my refrigerator, and quite stiff. You might actually wince once or twice when you order the $3 rum and coke. This differs markedly from my last experience, say at The Abbey, where I was forced to wade through a cadre of pretentious, overly-dressed, and furiously coiffed trendyfolk, just to get a $12 captain and COKE. I capitalize because it is really the best way to describe the portions in the glass. But back to the Falcon, their Bartenders are awesome, knowledgeable, and face it....are all pretty hot in one way or another. Even the morning shift, a duo of heartwarming octogenarian lesbians, can pour you a mean drink at 10:00 AM. Just don't diss the Price is Right. We know Drew will never be Bob...just let it go. While you are there, don't forget to molest their digital jukebox before the guy who plays the old country songs gets there. Its helpful to put in a five-er just to protect the other patrons with some Madonna, Stevie Nicks, or Jimi Hendrix. All in all, this is my home-base watering hole. I can always find someone interesting to talk to when I go there. Be it the 80 year old former hairdresser who tells stories of being gay in the speakeasies of the Noir Era, or the SUPER drink chick being thrown out to the waiting cab, you can ALWAYS find a stimulating conversation, and hopefully, even a free drink, at the Falcon. read more

Mostly boys, duh, but if you're female you're still ok. I appreciate that - A LOT. My gf and I enjoy the music here much more than at the girl places in LB and every time we come we feel welcome and have a great time. They offer decently priced drinks, and we've always been well taken care of at the bar. Even when we're obviously drunk...they already know what we want to order (two Newcastles please). That's service! Yes it's crowded and small, but it's healthy to be close to your fellow man every so often. read more

The Falcon is a great neighborhood corner tavern. Opening at 7am (6am weekends) and closing every day at 2am. Yes everyday, even Christmas. Drinks are poured nice and stiff, always reasonably priced. But, after 8pm the price goes up some. On Sundays you get $1 Drafts and from 3pm on you just can't move in the place. I live across the street from the place, and I like it for my afternoon bar. This place is really tiny, so at night it just gets too crowded for me. And the music too darn loud. Besides, I can hear the music just fine in my apartment LOL. Best to cab or walk here as there is NO PARKING. NONE. Don't even try it. NO PARKING...! Stop by some morning and watch the Today Show, followed by the Price is Right. Main thing, the Falcon will make you feel to home anytime, so come on by. read more

The Falcon is my favorite bar in my town. At first I fell in love with their digital jukebox... I had never realized that you could type in an artist or band and it would like serach the internet. That is what it does. Welcome to the future. I listened to Halloweenhead by Mr. Ryan Adams on Halloween 2007. I was sold. It doesn't take much to make me happy. Why should it? The bar is a tiny little place and fills up in the blink of an eye, making a Wednesday evening feel like a Friday night sometimes. I dig the times when the place isn't totally jam packed. We have met some unique individuals, but always before 8pm. The mustached "dripper" and Southern Dan hold memorable, as do countless others. Hector is the best there is. Like any good bartender he knows about makin' the rounds and gives a sincere thank you for a decent tip. I can't tell you what he says when it is a bad tip. This is a fun bar. Loud music and patrons at a nice, solid level of drunk. Jason is my favorite bartender and pours the best shots. Just hope you don't have to pee, you'll never get into that bathroom. Ladies, a warning. If you have a skittish boyfriend, and you're trying to get him to go out with the gays, don't take him here. Some friends and I wandered into this bar one night and it was all eyes on us. So much so that some in the party got so nervous that they had one drink and we all left. Too bad, because it looked like if the locals here ever warmed up to you this could be a fun, cozy little bar. It reminded me a lot of the neighborhood bars you used to find on almost any corner in my hometown of Chicago. This is LBC. LBC has a well-deserved reputation for having 0 parking spaces. When I lived a block from this place ten years ago, it was for the senior crowd who started at 6 a.m. Now it is the hipster crowd and packed on most Friday and Saturday nights. Its always good to see new life in old things and this bar is just that. Friendly staff, friendly patrons, and stiff drinks. It does get packed. Barely room to walk packed. Two small, single bathrooms that are inconveniently accessed through the crowded dance floor. It also gets very warm, so if claustrophobia has been an issue in the past, grab a seat near the front door where you'll get fresh air and an easier way out. read more

I don't know why this place is so popular. I love local dive bars, but not on a Saturday night where it is super crowded to the point of suffocation. This bar is way too small. In fact, I have been here on another night and it is pretty much packed like sardines to the point where it is rather uncomfortable. The drinks seem to be smaller but definitely better priced than the clubs in West Hollywood on a Saturday night. The Falcon is a great bar in the heart of the Gay Ghetto; it has good hard drinks that are very reasonable in price, friendly staff and a very relaxed atmosphere. It is also right next to a fantastic pizza place, so you can grab a beer while you wait for your pizza (or vice versa) The crowd is another thing that makes The Falcon fun, the crowd can be very diverse. It can arrange from young to old, from hot to not as hot, from gay to straight... The only things that I can say bad about it are the fact that parking in the area is hard to come by, I sometimes have to park down the street by the park on cherry and broadway. Willy is a super cool bartender, I must say. Howevery we got White-Bashed today while we were there. The crowd at Falcon is always interesting and diverse, it's that gives the bar it's charm. I didn't remember the walk back to my friend's house after i came here the first time. maybe it was the pre-partying at her house before getting there, or maybe it was the hot female bartender pouring me countless FREE vitamin (yes, vitamin!) kamikazi shots! it seemed at first she was just doing a taste testing but after about the 5th one... yeah, i don't remember what happened after the 5th one... i'm not in the habit of drinking that intensely, and it's a good thing i don't live that close to this place because otherwise i may have a problem! when i came here last week not wanting to get wasted i had a hard time not getting a ton of drinks to cover the $10 minimum for my debit card! they make my poor, starving student little heart shiver with joy (and be sure to use cash next time). the bartenders are nice, the music is good, they have newcastle on tap and their shot glasses aren't deceivingly small like at sweetwater. what more could you ask for? oh yeah, awesome people! damn, now i'm really wishing i lived in long beach... read more

First bar I went to in Long Beach. I love the Falcon. The bartenders are great guys, and always in a chipper fun mood. Mikey, Patrick, and Jay are always making you smile while pouring their tasty magic down your throat (no pun intended)... Good music, always changing decor, interesting crowd to people watch. I went there for the first time the other night. It was a lot smaller than I thought. Kind of a little joint to hang out and get a drink. Not much more. Love this bar! I always have a great time whenever I visit with friends doesn't matter if it's for midday, Sunday Funday/weekend, or random weeknight drinks this place never disappoints. Music and drinks are always on point. KC is one of my favorite bartenders, he's fast, funny, and makes good stiff drinks. I gave the falcon four out of five stars only because since Pride weekend they have only been accepting cash (which I hate to carry). I hate having to pay the outrageous ATM fees in the bar. When I asked the bartender he said the credit card feature on their POS system was down and they were waiting for it to get fixed. Hopefully, their system gets fixed so I can start swiping my card again. read more
