    Seven Layer Salad
    Alex S.

Fantastic dinner experience in beautiful Cedarburg! We arrive shortly after they opened for the evening on a Wednesday. We were seated & greeted promptly. We were sad to be informed that they were out of the bread appetizer, so we ordered the Farm Bites. Warm, chewy bread topped with ground beef & pickle-simple but delicious! For my entree I chose the Top Sirloin with the Farmstead Favorite Topping. Everything was cooked well & had lots of flavor. The best part-you get a mini version of the Seven Layer Salad to accompany your meal! Very unique & delicious option. I look forward to returning & trying more menu items!

I hate green peas but this salad was goooooood!

A friend treated me to this restaurant for my 60th birthday. It was an amazing treat. We had the catfish -- a culinary delight! It was delicious and prepared in a very unusual way. I was extremely pleased and so satisfied that I couldn't even order dessert on my birthday!!! The staff was amazing and very accommodating to our service dogs -- both of whom are small and returned to handle medical issues. Nobody harassed us or even gave us a second look. THANK YOU! It is so nice when people remember to treat me like a normal person and not made s big deal out of the WORKING dog! Again, thank you!! This restaurant got it right! The ambiance is informal, quiet, relaxed, but inviting. The food is fresh, a little upscale, unusual, but DELICIOUS! The staff is attentive, courteous, friendly, well informed, and professional. It was a super birthday gift with a wonderful friend. I'll never forget it!!! Thank you to you all for making my 60th birthday a wonderfully memorable one! Good food! Good friend! Good memory!

I visited my parents in Wisconsin and we went for dinner at the Farmstead. Such a cute place and amazing food! Our server was on point and super friendly. I believe the owner was there (lady with long dark hair) and she was very nice as well. I highly recommend the Farmstead!

So we came here for Valentines day getaway weekend and came across this steakhouse.... they had a 3.5hr wait but it was soooooo worth it! We started the 3rd pg of the waiting list and im so happy we waited. They had a nice waiting system going so once I put my name down the host gave me her business card said to call back in an hour to see how long the wait would be. So we went on our way did some shopping had a small snack from wine tasting.... We came back to the place when they said we have an hour wait and got a spot by the bar. She was very nice drinks were good...finally our time came up and boy oh boy were we ready to eat! We ordered the string onions they were good and the sauce was amazing. The bread was delicious and the butter was on point! I order the sirloin steak and got a medium... I should have gotten a medium well but that didnt stop me from eating it with the special glazed secret garlic sauce that the own makes was it to die for. My husband got tenderloin medium he said it was cooked to perfection as medium. So there you have it folks! It's a definite yes! I took pics of the updated menu. We ate the food took quick and forgot to take the picture

I've been coming here for 40 years. I went to school with the Gillespies and they ended up buying this farmhouse horse stale from the 1880 era and converting it. The food was great The family sold to a wonderful new owner and the food is just as great. no reservations are offered. you'll never get a seat unless you walk in and wait. you will thank me So come in it's atmosphere, great food and that's why there's a line.

When you pull up to the location, you're kind of underwhelmed that it's an old house with some kind of warehouse opposite in the parking lot. Once you walk in, the old farmhouse charm kicks in and so does the smiles along with great service! The food was so fresh and tasty. This was evident with how fast the restaurant filled up. We got there 40 minutes before open and there were people waiting with us for the restaurant to open at 3pm. My steak was cooked to perfection and my wife's chicken so tender. The veggies were fresh and crunchy enough. Garlic mashed potatoes were sooooo amazingly delicious and were as yummy as I read about. Great place and we will definitely be back when we're in the area.

This place was amaze balls. Very unique and old building (similar to an English pub. Decor is interesting but isn't the focus. Great ambience, perfect music, and overall great place for a family, business dinner, or a cozy night out. I wish i would have taken pictures of the food, it was unbelievable. I would rank their steaks with some of the best steak houses. Garlic mashed potatoes for the win! The place is hard to find and has no sign on the building. Bummed they don't take reservations but if you're lucky enough to get a table it is worth every penny!

Farmstead is Cedarburg's Hidden Gem...Absolutely top notch every time I've been! The service & ambience is phenomenal, only surpassed by the quality & execution of food! I would sincerely rate it easily in the Top of my favorite restaurants in the area. They have high quality steaks, comfort food and are not pretentious. As a 4 time restaurant owner & Executive Chef, I don't throw my opinion around lightly... if you haven't yet been. GO! On my last visit I enjoyed a perfectly cooked bone-in ribeye, mashed potatoes, onion straws and veg. The wine selections were great and I even had the pleasure of meeting the owner at the bar. In my opinion, it is extremely rare to meet such a genuine and caring person. It's no surprise why she's such a success. I am definitely a fan! #ChefApproved #GetHereMKE #LetsGoMKEFoodie

    Do they take reservations?

    Yes they do

My friend and I have tried to go a few times and the wait is always 1.5 hours+. Of the two, are Friday's or Saturday's better? And is there still a wait if you go right when they open at 4:30? Thanks!

The wait staff is always attentive and informational, providing suggestions when we are looking for guidance on what to choose. This time around I went with a girlfriend and we decided to share a couple apps and an entre. We started with their seasonal burrata that was bursting with flavor. It was both savory and citrusy, a really nice compliment. We did have to order a side of bread with it, so that's one improvement the restaurant could make - bread is a necessity with a cheese dish! Next up we ordered their Mixed Greens Salad which was a perfect light & tangy salad with a little bit of sweetness. Highly recommend. Finally, we shared the seared walleye entree. I pretty much order fish everytime I come here because they cook it to perfection and it's something I can't make at home as easily. The walleye did not disappoint and was so flavorful and enough food for us to share. We ordered the perfect amount to split between the 2 of us. Can't wait to go back, keep up the good work!

We ordered a couple of appetizers including the meatballs, and a sampler plate with fried mushrooms, duck strips, chicken tenders and mozzarella sticks. Our entrees included the filet, rib steak, bbq ribs, scampi, and french dip. The appetizers were okay. Not a fan of all the heavily fried items. The meatballs were tasty and probably the best of the items. (although the presentation was not very appetizing). We also got served warm bread sticks, and honestly I love warm bread but they seemed over warmed and tough. I did not finish mine. My Lobster was very good. The other parts of the meal were subpar. The salad seemed whilty and the vegetable medley was over cooked and flavorless. Tried some of the items. The filet, and rib steak were both excellent. The bbq ribs were okay, but a little overcooked (i like to have a little chew). They stopped over with the dessert tray and were very persuasive. Did save a little room for the Peanut Butter Brownie Torte. That was very good. The evening was kind of mixed bag. The service was spotty and some of the food items were not remarkable. If I went back I would skip the appetizers and just focus on the steak and lobster choices. The prices are reasonable, so perhaps its a good value for some customers.

Even at the end, when my mom ordered a to-go dessert and I commented on it being a birthday treat, it was never acknowledged. I find that odd and a little irritating. The eggplant sticks appetizer was good, as was the bread and whipped butter. My cod dinner was adequate, with the star being the potato pancake. There's street parking all around the block where it's situated and a city lot. As you enter, you hit a reception podium and they offer seating in the bar area as well as in a dining section. This is a large open space with high and low top seating. We chose to eat near the bar at a high top table. Behind the bar is an impressive bottle selection. Sadly you can only see the liquor list via a QR code, which is slightly inconvenient and annoying, as my cell reception was not great in the building and the list loads sloooooowly. They explained that they would have to be constantly updating a printed list, which I understand, but then A) post a WIFI password/link on every table with the QR code and/or B) get a tablet or two that you can give tables so they can just see the electronic list in a bigger, faster format. We both had features cocktails from their menu. My Manhattan was very good. My mom enjoyed the bourbon smash more after she squeezed her lemon into it, as it was on the sweet side. Mom enjoyed her avocado steak salad and said it was quite good. I'm a little irked to see a $0.50 add-on for an extra side of dressing. That seems cheap in this day and age. I ordered an Impossible burger, with the toppings of their garlic mushroom Swiss burger. I'm not sure why everyone's version of a veggie burger is always the one with the most basic toppings on the menu. We might not eat beef, but vegetarians still like flavor. While the toppings were good, the burger itself was undercooked and only vaguely warm. I was offered a choice of 4 different fries - I chose sweet potato fries. Again, I'm irritated after the fact to see there was a $2 upcharge. They weren't that great and sweet potatoes are not that much more expensive that potatoes. So, yes, my lunch was disappointing across the board. Service was by the bartender, Brad, and a crew of others kept checking to see if we needed more drinks or anything. They definitely did well in the service arena. Of course, a manager or someone noted when I took the photo of the bar area and said she hoped I was leaving them a great review, so they might have paid extra attention. Too bad it wasn't to my food. We chose to come back and try some bourbons after our day's adventures. We sat directly at the bar, where there had been a staff shift. This bartender seemed pretty unknowledgeable about the selections on offer and even how to make the drinks. Ours were good, but under chilled. I'm not sure she understood what having a drink "up" meant. Which, you know, is weird at a cocktail bar. Again, the list was slow to load. I think we'll go back and we'll try other items. They have a couple veggie friendly menu items. We're impressed by their bourbon and whisky selection. They just need to up their game in a few areas.
