Hi all! Being an asian of filipino descent, it pains me to write this review. But i believe honesty and constructive criticism should be used to get better and improve for the future. After hearing about this place in chinatown plaza, i just had to go see and try for myself. So ordered the longganisa with rice and egg. And had an order of palabok for take out. These 2 are classic filipino dishes, so to me, they will be a good barometer for me to gauge how authentic this place is. For food court prices, they can be a bit pricey. But most reviews on google and yelp have mentioned that they make it up for quantity. The longganisa with rice and egg, was NOT typical of a filipino bfast. First, the rice wasnt fried garlic rice. Next, the longganisa was cut in half and fried. This made it very dry, as all the juices have already dried up. Too bad bec they used ilocano longganisa. All the flavours vanished. As for quantity, its really 3 pcs whole longganisa cut in half to give the appearance of 6. But they packed the bowl with so much rice. Next the palabok. It was simply not good. Yes, it was packed to the brim, and lots of shrimp and egg were added and all the trimmings...but the sauce...which is the most integral part of the dish, was bland and out of flavour. It lacked the essence of the dish. The colours were great, but the taste was simply not there. The aromatic annatto flavours, as well as the smoky tinapa fish and pork flavours were all lacking. But what lacked in flavours was made up for initiative and excellent customer service. After speaking to the owners, i believe their intentions are pure and they are genuinely trying to provide good food. It is their first foray into the food service in vancouver, so yes, there will be growing pains and numerous adjustments to be made. Still worth a try and some of their other noodle dishes and fried pork looks really enticing. Cheers! Happy eating!

A Filipino feast from here that we've been anticipating for months! So glad we finally got the opportunity to try this hidden gem in the city because all their food was delicious and satisfied with that home-cooked nostalgic feel. Highly recommend everything we got, especially the halo-halo with ice cream! That was the perfect dish to finish our meal with. Also, we aren't exaggerating when we say that their portions are HUGE! SISIG RICE BOWL ($15.99 CAD) Minced pork belly with chopped onions, chilies, green onion, and a fried egg over a bed of rice. TOCINO RICE BOWL ($13.99 CAD) Sweetened and cured pork belly with fried garlic and green onion served over a bed of rice and topped with a fried egg. BEEF PARES NOODLE BOWL (SM - $13.99 CAD/ LG - $17.99 CAD) Tender beef brisket stew on egg noodles in aromatic beef broth topped with fried garlic, cabbage, and egg. FAMOUS BREAKFAST BAON BOX ($15.99 CAD) A Filipino bento box filled with longganisa, tocino, beef tapa, eggplant omelette, garlic fried rice, pork spring rolls, and a fried egg. BUKO PANDAN COOLER ($8.99 CAD) A dessert drink that combines coconut and crew pine leaves. MELON-CANTALOUPE COOLER ($8.99 CAD) Refreshing milk drink with shredded cantaloupe and pearls. HALO-HALO ($13.50 CAD + $2 CAD for ice cream) A popular cold dessert in the Philippines made up of crushed ice, evaporated milk, sweetened kidney beans, ube jam, sago, gulaman, flan, ube & ube ice cream - perfect for the hot summer weather!

My wife and I are visiting from Boston. She found this place while we were killing time at a bubble tea shop. Without a doubt this is one of the best meals I've had in Vancouver. The owners were very friendly and I appreciate their suggestion about ordering the Pandan drink. It was delicious and I loved that it wasn't too sweet. I ordered the pork adobo box and my wife ordered the palabok. The portions was extremely generous. Seriously I'm a big eater and I couldn't finish everything. The stir fired noodles in the pork adobo box was surprisingly good as it had an amazing sauce, good blend spice and perfect heat that made the noodles outstanding. The pork adobo was also amazing. I've cooked adobo before but there is no way I could cook anything as good as what I've eaten here. The palobok was also outstanding. Highly recommend everyone to check this place out!

Absolutely LOVED eating at this new filipino take out joint!!! My belly left happy with a large amount of food left over. Located inside the Chinatown Plaza, this food gives a feel of home with the obvious Illocos touch. I ordered the beef pares which is an appropriate size for 3 or 4 people as an initial app. Also got the lumpia (An absolute MUST), Filipino hot dog, a crunchy and cheesey experience (you just have to!!) And the Siaopao (So YUMMMM). You can eat your meal right at the food court, steps aways from the store front. I left with nearly an entire full bowl of soup. Totally worth a visit especially with the friendly service and the outstanding quality of food. Highly recommend and I'll be back for round 2!

I love this small Filipino store that sell authentic foods from the Philippines. I misssed Philippines by coming in here and looking at the foods from their menu. Yummm! I was craving of the noodle soup with bagnet but sadly they were out. I ordered chicken lomi instead to replaced and a beef pares. It's honestly my first time to eat beef pares and I freakin' love it. It's a sweet, soft beef stew with lots of rice... I suggest that they should put lots of sauce on this beef bowl so it's not dry when it comes from the fridge. But, still the taste was really good! This is located at the China town plaza. Pay Parking on the side. Food court closed at 6 pm and not allowed to eat inside anymore after that. A must- try!

Alright this place has tons of foodie / Instagram hype... so I was really excited to try this place. The owners are super sweet and lovely, but the food is on the opposite end of the spectrum. Not good at all... the noodles tasted like oily fast food noodles and the pork tasted super dry and hard; however, the sausages were good just a bit oily. To be fair, I haven't had a lot of Filipino food, so I am not sure if this is authentic or not - just not a fan at all.

    #4 Ilocos Pancit

Located in chinatown plaza, this food court noodle joint is really good for it's value. I ordered ilocos pansit which came filled to the brim. However, taste wise i didn't enjoy it. It was a bit too oily for me and couldn't taste anything else. The pork belly was good and crispy. That said, i am very unfamiliar with the filipino cuisine and my only reference points are the few filipino restaurants we have across the city. I will probably go back to try some more dishes like empanada before making my final opinion about this joint.

The food took a bit of time, but it was well worth it...homes-cooked in a fast-food setting! Saucy chicken bites were delicious and had a great sweet/chili/sticky sauce all over the crispy bites. Excellent quality for an amazingly cheap price. Coconut Chicken Soup was as good if not better than Tom Kha Kai at family-owned holes in the wall--depth of flavours, coconutty goodness, enough spicy heat, and lots of white meat chicken. Way to go, chain Thai! Chicken Pad See Ew was also fresh, delicious, and with a generous variety of veggies mixed in with the perfectly al dente and chewy/springy noodles! The one ding was that the Veggie Spring Rolls came out about 20 minutes into eating our food. Without any explanation, the "appetizer" was delivered almost as a dessert! (They were fresh, crispy, well-filled, and had a tangy/sweet/sour dipping sauce, though!) Why delayed? No one ever explained. Overall, Rice & Noodle will be my have-to-go-to place whenever I visit Vancouver in the future. If I could, I'd try to convince the owners to expand into the Los Angeles, CA region SOONER rather than later!! Yum, yum, delicious! And oh, so economically priced. (All of the above food was less than $35 USD!)

Dwenjang jjigae had an interesting twist. It was lighter and more radish-forward than the traditional version, which I didn't mind, but it felt a bit unusual to call it dwenjang jjigae. It came with mushrooms, radish, tofu, and thin slices of beef. Overall, it was light and very enjoyable. Soondae was different from the typical version I'm used to. Here, it's made with an innards casing and the filling was also different, like meaty with less noodles. It had a strong flavor and aroma that I didn't prefer but the texture was soft, not chewy, and it paired nicely with kimchi and radish. It was fine to try but I probably wouldn't order it again. We ordered a small, and couldn't finish. Side dishes were limited to three varieties (fish cake, kimchi, bean sprouts) and served in small portions. With the richness of the bossam and strong taste of the soondae, we needed more kimchi and pickled radish but it was hard to get our server's attention, likely because she was busy attending to all the tables. We enjoyed the warm ambiance, and it seemed like many diners were enjoying the army stew. We'll be back to try more items and for the bossam.
