I'm local to this place and I love it. I've had the fish tacos many times and they are amazing. The chipotle sauce is the key. Anywho, this was the first time I got the double pepperoni pizza, and it was so good! It's a "build your own", not a specialty pizza on the menu. Came in by Kingston Ferry was so excited to enjoy a drink and wait for my husband to join me for one of our fave fish places! Sadly I sat and waited over 25 minutes while the one heavy dark long hair, flip flops ignored my presence for 20 minutes!! She looked at me several times giving bills at tables still seeing me without acknowledgment which was poor!!! Luckily a younger gal walked in from front door walked into bar then looked at me. This a great local bar and grill -- all with a "dive bar" feel, but not really a dive bar. Food is solid -- the French dip is a favorite, but lots of good basic food to satisfy most people's taste. Worst "dining" experience ever in my life. The drinks came in 10 minutes. Then we were completely ignored for at least an hour. ("Sorry, we had a lot of take-out orders today so we couldn't serve dine-in customers.") But wait! There's more! MUCH more & much worse! FALSE ADVERTISING: The menu had a "Clam Basket" that contained no clams. When it finally came, the server said "here's your 'clam STRIPS' ". Nothing about 'strips' on the menu and nothing about clams in the order. They were little worm-like bits of breaded breading, and burned, too. I couldn't eat a bite after tasting it. And there's nothing inside the breading but more breading. When you're hungry, it's more than disappointing to find out you'd be better off eating Shit! Why put garbage on the menu, or things that aren't even in stock? In addition, the coleslaw was rancid and also inedible. That left ketchup and mayonnaise. For $18 plus tax. They should call it an ale house and just sell ale. Or call it Captain Port-o-John's - with drinks. You're better off scooping your dinner from an outhouse. The Worst of the Worst of the WORST. I'm sad to write this review... I have been eating here for about three years since we moved to the area and have always had a good pizzas. The last couple of times I've noticed the quality are going downhill and tonight is pretty much the last time we are ordering pizza from this place. I ordered a large pizza extra cheese onions and black olives with thick crust. What I got was super thin barely any cheese and pretty much flavorless. Hardly any sauce and the dough has lots of flour still on it. Sorry to say, we won't be back until we are sure you've fixed your process. Edit: The people are nice. read more

I'd give this place maybe 3.5 stars. We wanted to go to another place for lunch but there was an hour wait so we came here for lunch. We got the fisherman's platter which easily fed two. The fish was good, though I didn't love the fried clams, nor whatever seasoning was on the fries. The chowder tasted good but had a lot of oil on top. We loved dining at the Bellingham location during a Covid getaway earlier this year, so decided to do take out at the Kingston location while we waited for the ferry. Food was ready to go when I arrived. I was the only one masked when I came in, including the staff. My wife had fish & chips and I had shrimp & chips. Tots and fries were switched between our orders. The fish portions were on the small size, with a thick layer of batter. The same batter was used for the shrimp which took away from the flavor of the meat. The slaw was quite dry and lacking flavor. We weren't given any napkins or utensils either. Normally I'm fine with this, as we're taking our food home, but in this case, it made eating in the car challenging. I like The Filling Station. It's just a block or so away from my house so it's quite convenient. It's kind of a dumpy place on the inside but it has some kind of weird charm to it. The wait people are sometimes very warm and sometimes a little cold depending on whether they're busy or not. The pizzas I do not recommend but I do like some of their burgers, sandwiches and other items. It's a pretty good neighborhood restaurant when looking for something reasonably priced, tasty enough, and easy to order and get pretty quickly. Average yet worth visiting. read more

Family friendly pub. Cute patio with large tables and views of the town/ferry terminal. Inside is dark and dated. The lighting in the bathroom is terrible which makes changing a diaper more of an adventure than it ever should be. Given a high chair which was FILTHY and the buckle was broken. We arrived on a Sunday a few minutes before noon and the place was empty. Maybe one other family there. Vwe were seated on the patio and served drinks. Our orders were taken promptly. 45 minutes later, we still didn't have our food and there were about 3 other parties that had arrived. At this point, a second server had arrived and the first greeted her very flustered and saying "so many people arrived at once!". It was another 10 minutes before our food showed up. The food was good, but not, waitanourtobeserved good. I had the beecher cheese burger. Thick slice of tomato, letuce, beef patty cooked perfectly, crispy thick cut bacon, perfect amount of cheese. Disapointing bun. My kids had kids pizza and pizza bread. Both enjoyed. My husband had jalapeño poppers and clam chowder soup. Both good if you like that kind of thing but nothing remarkable. I went on a Sunday when it wasn't very busy. Not dead, but not packed. I've only been one other time, and after getting a beer I asked how their seating worked. The bartender asked if I was eating, I said probably with a nod and that I was meeting someone there. She said I could sit wherever I wanted. I took a booth, and watched as everyone else that sat after me at least got menus/silverware. Multiple times her, and the tall bartender with tattoos, walked by me without checking on me and avoided eye contact. After realizing that the person I was supposed to be meeting wasn't coming, I moved to the bar rail so I wasn't taking up a booth and again multiple times both bartenders walked by without saying a thing and even more avoiding eye contact. I asked for a menu, and also almost had to ask to give my food order too. The food was actually really good and priced well for portion sizes. Over all, very lackluster customer service, ambiance was off too because if no one was playing music in the jukebox it was just dead quiet except for the din of people talking. Watched so many other people get served over myself and it seemed as if it was deliberate avoidance. I guess if you're not a long time regular you don't get the same customer service as others. Dropped in for dinner after getting off the ferry. It's a little roadhouse type spot, quasi-dimly lit with a friendly vibe and a fire pit and a big back deck. We sat near a window and I kept thinking I could smell mothballs, and my girlfriend thought it was varnish, and it was either coming from the napkin rack or the window. We each sniffed the napkin rack a few times before concluding that (a) it wasn't the napkin rack, and (b) we probably looked weird because we were sniffing the napkin rack. The napkin rack was kind of adorable though. It was custom decorated with a drawing by Olive, whom I'm sure is a very nice child. We each had the fish tacos with seared ahi, and I had an Arnold Palmer to wash it down. The tacos were nice and big and came with chips and salsa. The ahi was a bit overcooked and was joined on the tacos by wasabi, obviously a good pairing, and some sort of cole slaw, which seemed odd because it overpowered the ahi a bit. And the mothball smell lingered throughout dinner. But it was a tasty enough little local stop before getting back on the road. read more
