My first experience in what my fiance affectionately calls DTP. Gold ole downtown Plano. DTP is by no means DTLA, however that could mean a good thing right?! Definitely a lot less traffic in DTP compared to DTLA. Being a definite outsider to Plano and Texas in general, I walked into Fillmore Pub and felt a little more at home. People are enjoying themselves, people of all creed are together, the mood lighting is great, and the food made me happy. Need I say this? But Fillmore Pub is definitely the hot spot in DTP. Jamie and I dined here for lunch, and it was terrific. Fish and chips was some of the best in town, and the onion rings we asked for with it were fab. We also had the rueben and fries, which were also excellent. Cold craft beer for about $5 per pint? Yessirree! We enjoyed a Dogfishhead 60 minute IPA and a Franconia unfiltered wheat, both superb. The service was crisp and friendly, and the vibe of the place was excellent, like a big Irish bar, with plenty of space and comfy seating. It's a pretty good drive from the M Streets, but worth it for a good change of pace and scenery from the Old Monk and its brethren pubs. We shall return soon :D read more

My wife says, "Men like the Filmore," and she's right. The Fillmore is a mainstay watering hole on the main strip of downtown Plano. It's a terrific Irish/British pub. Ron Swanson would feel right at home here. Taps have local and specialty rotators. There are good deals to be had on a pint. Bar is well stocked. Scotch and bourbon drinkers will not go thirsty. For my money, they make one of the best Old Fashions in Dallas. They go very dry in their approach, so you have a clear taste of the rye with just a touch of orange. The bar staff really know their business. The Fillmore is becoming a go to for a Thursday night pre-weekend libation. Worth a visit. read more

An excellent pub in Downtown Plano. Went for our monthly Happy Hour with my team. We occupied two high tables in the outside and enjoyed a great evening. A very good collection of beers and a good manageable food menu. I ordered the "Fried Veg Platter" and the "Mediterranean Platter" and both were great but the Fried Veggie Platter was better! I love Irish pubs and I love Guinness so Fillmore Pub was a great find when you're in the old downtown area of Plano. I came here with some work friends and we sat at the top floor which provided a good view of the surrounding area. Service was pretty fast and the food was pretty good, standard pub food is how I would define it. Of course they have a great selection of beers and drinks on tap and on the menu. Popped in here after Thursday night High School football. Wasn't crowded, but was kind of loud. Well, maybe it just SEEMED loud because a guy at another table across the room felt the need to drop the f-bomb repeatedly. Loudly. Anyway, service was extremely lacking. Maybe because the first thing we (I) ordered was water? Hub ordered a beer. But he asked her for a recommendation, maybe that put her off. Dunno, but she was pretty scarce the whole time we were there. Except for when she was at the table next to ours, which she visited no less than 3 times without turning around and asking us how things were. She let Hub's beer go dry for about 10 minutes. Finally a man whisked the empty glass away while he walked by. When he walked back by, Hub asked for another. Apparently he was a bus boy (hard to tell who was who as far as employees go) and he sent our server to our table. I got fish and chips. Been on a fish and chips kick lately and I must say, the fish was excellent! The tartar sauce was also very delicious. It made the steak fries edible. Hub got a 1/2 pound cheeseburger. She didn't ask him how he wanted it cooked, which we realized when his burger was very pink. He said it was an ok burger. I think this is probably a great bar that has some good food. They have an extensive beer list, cozy lighting and decor. I'd go again. Hopefully get a different server though. read more

The worst fish and chips I have ever had in my life. I've had bad fish and chips many times before. With a couple of beers, who cares. But this was another level of bad. It wasn't just terrible. It was a tragedy. I've never had anything like it. Three long thin spindly pieces of fish each about the thickness of my finger. About 90% batter with a tiny thin piece of fish in the middle. Because there was so little fish, it was over-cooked. It was rubbery and practically inedible. The batter tasted weird. I wonder if the oil was old. I can't believe anyone who works in a kitchen would serve food as bad as that. Our waitress was very nice and quickly replaced the awful fish and chips with a very bland chicken salad sandwich. Last time I was at the Filmore was just after they changed owners and the food was mediocre back then. I wanted to give them a second chance. I won't be back to give them a third. The one star is for the very nice waitress who was doing her very best despite the place being understaffed and who was a bit taken aback when she asked me how everything was and I told her that "this is the worst fish and chips I have ever had in my life." read more

I like the IDEA of the Filmore better than I like the Filmore itself. I love the idea of a a local pub in downtown Plano's Arts District. I love that it's not a sports bar. I love the location and the patio for people watching and listening to music at the pavilion. That said, the food is kind of hit or miss. The burgers, fried veggies, fried pickles and onion rings are good. The Irish beef stew is beyond bland and the meat is tough, the batter on the fish and chips is bland as well. The late night tacos are, frankly, kind of disgusting, with soggy, store-bought tortillas and none-too-fresh ingredients. The cheese & meat board uses cheap cuts that are somewhat dried out. The salads are actually fine. The service is nearly always poor. Today was the exception, but I did come in a 3:00 on a Sunday afternoon, so I would hope for decent service. But any other time, busy or not busy, service has been abysmal. Waitresses have been drunk or they simply disappear, drinks rarely get filled, alcohol orders come late, apps after entrees, etc etc. read more

I like this place. Great selection of whiskey and seriously the best French fries I've ever had, however they really need a hostess and better sectioning on busy nights. My husband and I waited at our table for 15 minutes trying to make eye contact with multiple servers (many saw us and never approached). Tables came in after us were getting served. No one ever came over, so finally we went to the bar and got great service there. Another couple came in and sat where we were also waited forever for a server and finally had to ask the bartender to send someone over. While checking out the Downtown Plano area, my mom, stepdad, and fiance went here for a quick drink to beat the heat. The bar is pretty large with plenty of seating inside as well as outside. The interior makes me think it is an Irish pub, but not tacky with all the green and leprechaun decor like some Irish bars have. The vibes of this bar is pretty lowkey and seemingly a local spot. When we walked in, I was a little turned off when a server walked passed us, looked at us weird, and didn't say anything. I guess she didn't care to seat us, so we sat ourselves. We sat near the bar, and another server happily greeted us and took our orders, which were beer and sodas. They came out pretty quickly, and we were actually given a large carafe of soda for refills, which I appreciated. We stuck around and conversed for a bit before heading out to our wedding planning appointment across the street. Our server was nice in closing out our tab, and the other server, who didn't say hi to us at first, said bye to us too, haha. The menu looked pretty good, which consists of mainly standard bar food. The happy hour (both early and late in the day) specials looked unique and cheap as well. I use to come here a lot because I had a friend who worked there and also it was a good chill spot. Went back for the first time since moving from the area and I gotta say, the service has really taken a turn for the worst. Sat outside where I assumed servers still took tables like they use to, only to be ignored. Went back inside and went to the bar instead for drinks and than sat at an empty booth by the bar thinking I'll finally get a server to come take a good order or something. Not a damn soul ever walked by. 4 other tables were sat around me and immediately had a server great them but not my friend nor myself. It's pretty messed up since my friend I was with was black and all the other tables were all white so it basically leads me to believe that Filmore pub as become a god damn racist ass place. I gave it 2 stars only because last time we went to this bar we had decent service from a guy who was slow serving but very nice and accommodating. However, today a female bartender and female waitress were not very attentive but that wasn't the problem. The entire time they were having a conversation about how ignorant christians are. My husband and I consider ourselves open minded but we don't appreciate anyone condemning anyone else for their beliefs. I would have been upset regardless of the religion they were openly trashing. Other customers were also upset and uncomfortable. Very disappointing, I'm fine with anything they want to believe religiously or personally but I'm not ok with the derogatory comments about others beliefs. Update: Someone from this bar has now been contacting/harassing me saying they are entitled to say whatever they want and "she doesn't care what others think." I love this place for a night going out or even for brunch on Saturdays/Sundays. They have a fun atmosphere for the evening where you can sit out on their patio or relax inside listening to a live band. For brunch, don't expect your ticket to be expensive. The most expensive brunch item is $10 but don't get fooled because you will get a big plate of food. Plus, they have 2 craft mimosas for $18. read more

Decent joint to stop for a drink. I have been here mainly on the weekend to have brunch without the uppity brunch feel. As this is Texas, there are enough TVs around the room to keep up with the latest collage football game, but 60s and 70s rock is playing on the speakers if foot ball isn't your thing. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. The bar has a large variety of whiskey and local beer is on draft. Food comes out promptly and everything I have had has been good. Choices for food are what you would expect for a bar, but the taste is good and it leaves you feeling satisfied. read more

Someone told me that this was the best pub to go to in Plano, ...... Bet. Not too shabby for a pub in Plano. The menu was nice to see, pub food to me is just very comforting along with just being surrounded by good ale. Got the Reuben with some fries (obviously poured some of that malt V on there) and overall it wasn't too bad for the price. Atmosphere was A1 and the seating arrangement was soothing. Music choice could be better and service could be a little quicker (it was pretty slow that's why I gave a 3 instead of a 4), but the people are friendly here. It's a great looking bar and we love historic areas from our drives across the country. The beer was cold which is important. The food was okay. I had a burger and it was overcooked and I ordered the tomato bisque soup for my side and it was so salty I couldn't eat it. My husband ordered the beef dip and he enjoyed it. 9 Indian women were celebrating a friend's bridal shower. We were having a good time until a patron decided to take it upon herself to remind us that "we did not belong" in America because we were not white. She picked up a fight with us, pushed and shoved my friend and then told us "you do not belong here." The waitress, who was extremely rude to us from the start did not even come by to ask us how we are doing. She brushed the whole thing away and acted as if nothing happened. We all still tipped her...especially when her services were extremely bad. The manager of the pub did not bother to come and talk to us. A random waiter came and told us to not get hassled and that we should try and keep to our table. He chose to come to us before he chose to go the table with the rude women. It was the most racist experience I have ever had in my 16 years of living in the States. Made the Bridal Shower night very unhappening for us. So much meh. At least 4-6 empty taps (its fine, leave 'em empty; don't bother putting anything else on). Out of the bourbon for a popular menu cocktail (staff had to ask us for a replacement bourbon, possibly incurring "call" upcharge, rather than just substituting something appropriate). And worst of all, one of my favorite Cuban sandwiches in DFW was completely bastardized. What makes The Havana awesome/unique is a little pile of hash browns ON the sandwich... Tonight, I got about 4 or 5 crushed Ruffles potato chips on it instead... Remember when Sam Jackson kills De Niro in Jackie Brown? Fillmore is another Irish -pub themed bar in downtown Plano. It's nice and relaxing to drink couple of beers and chill at the bar once in a while. I'm in love with the wood- lined tables and chairs. The little candle adds a little homely feel to it. They have a diverse menu that includes brunch, lunch, dinner, desserts, beers, whiskey, cocktails. We had ordered POMMES FRITES (Sm $4.00 Lg $6.00) which are hand-cut French fries served with a trio of sauces. Food is very flavorful and homely. We were seated on one of the high table- chairs and our server was very consistently checking on us. We ordered some pretty strong vegas bomb shots, due to which I can't remember the names of the beers we got afterwards. Hehehe...But we ordered couple of stout beers. One was Armadillo something and another was ...Ice on you...something. Ughhh...I need to know the names for my next visit. Nevermind! We used to really enjoy going to Fillmore Pub, but after our recent visit, we won't be back. We walked in on a VERY slow weekday night. In fact, there were only two other guests in the whole pub. The sign said "order at the bar", but when we walked over to the bar neither the bartender (who was changing the TV channel) or the waitress (who was writing on a sign) said a single word to us. We stood there for literally 2-3 minutes before the bartender finally said "what can I get you". This place is tiny, its not like they couldn't see us - we were 3 feet away. We almost walked out right then, but went ahead and ordered. The food was ok, typical bar food, but once the food was delivered....no one checked on us for anything. Not even to refill water. My husband had to take our cups to the bar to ask for more water. I guess if that's the protocol (although other restaurants are not doing that??) at least tell guests they need to take cups to the bar for refills. Regardless, with 3 guests in the whole place, surely you can come around once or twice to see if we need anything. We totally understand slower service and even average food as a result of the pandemic....but zero service is where we drawn the line. We won't be going back. read more

My fiancé and I are regulars to the patio with our pup. She's always treated just as nicely as us. Great beer selection. One of the managers last week was working by himself and the kitchen was closed, but knowing I was gluten-free, still got me a chicken burrito and warmed up some corn tortillas for me to eat with the burrito filling. And though I'm a former beer snob (new gluten allergy) their cocktails do not disappoint either. I really really want to like this place. I LOVE dark pubs and good beer. The music isn't too loud and the food menu looks really good. However the wait staff (and management) is a hit and miss. Sometimes you get a good waitress who can work a whole room without breaking a sweat and sometimes you get one like the unhappy girl working the bar area when my family and I visited one Monday evening. The waitress never greeted us or smiled and at one point she actually tapped her fingernails on the table impatiently while my sister-in-law didn't read the menu fast enough. I mean I do understand she had 3 or 4 other tables to tend to so maybe she was overwhelmed and having a bad night. After sharing a couple of appetizers and having a beer each we left irritated after the continued rude treatment we recieved from her. I paid the bill and left her a dollar tip. This girl followed us outside and (smiling for the first time in a passive aggresive way) asked us if the service wasn't "good enough". I told her that I didn't like the way she treated us and she tried to tell me that (even though I paid the bill) she had to pay the bar some sort of fee or something that my small tip did not cover. I told her she should be a better waitress if she wants better tips...she said "I'm going to get the manager". The manager actually came outside where we were and asked what the problem was. I told him that I felt that I had tipped her according to the service she gave and he reminded me that she only makes a small salary so...I should have tipped better. Not once did he ever apologize for bad service or for the fact that we were accosted on the sidewalk by his server and himself. The whole thing was just stupid and humiliating really. I told him I felt that we were being shaken down for more money. The whole experience left a pretty bad taste in my mouth..sort of like their french fries. read more

The Fillmore has a great vibe - a perfect place for after work drinks if you're in the area. I was impressed by their beer selection - English, Belgian and even a Franconia hefeweizen (a microbrew from good ole McKinney.) We weren't there just to drink - we started off with a cheese plate. They have a few cheeses to choose from - I picked the Humbolt Fog (soft ripened goat cheese) the belletiolle (brie) and the Guinness cheddar. My fromage loving friends and I laid waste to that spread quickly. For dinner, we ordered three of the Signature Dishes to share - the Pork tenderloin, the streak frites and the fish and chips. Our favorite was definitely the pork tenderloin - it was cooked perfectly and the bourbon sauce was heavenly. The steak was good but we would have liked more seasoning - it did come with a peppered aioli but I think a steak should be able to stand alone with just a good rub of spices so none of that for me. The frites weren't as crispy as I would like - doubt that they double fry like you are supposed to with traditional frites. The fish and chips were fine - the cod was mild, the batter was light and the chips were the traditional steak cut. You did really need to use the malt vinegar on the fish and chips - it really added a lot of flavor. I was disappointed in their lack of desserts (no sticky toffee pudding? boo), so we bailed after our meal. Still, I would recommend the Fillmore - we enjoyed our meal and drinks and did receive excellent service. read more

My friend wanted to grab some grub while we were in the area and Yelp pointed us to The Fillmore Pub. Burgers, beer, and a cool bartender! To start off, we had the onion rings and these were the super thin ones with crispy batter. Kinda like the ones at Bone Daddy's. For our burgers, I go the jalapeno cream cheese burger while my friend got the Guiness-cheddar burger. We actually cut our burgers in half and shared so we could try'em both. The Guiness-Cheddar burger tasted just like a regular burger. The cheese looked like it might taste good, but it wasn't anything special, or at least that I could notice. the jalapeno cream cheese burger was pretty good. The cream cheese wasn't in excess and it was enough to balance the out the jalapenos' spiciness. While eating at the bar, I noticed that the bartender seemed like a cool dude and informed us of their high alky content beers and their specials during the week. Did you know Mondays $3 draft beers? This is the type of bar I live for. Dark wood, dim lights, very pub-ish. And who knew downtown Plano was so charming. I came here this past Sunday night because my friend's band played here (shout out to The Mumbles). I arrived around 8:30 and the place was packed. Glad my friend had snagged a table already. Our waitress was on top of things. I never had an empty hoegaarden. Despite the small stage the band sounded great, so props to the sound system. I didn't eat, but saw some pretty appetizing looking plates of food around. If I happen to be in Plano again, I would definitely come back. read more
