I went to Big Mike's with a group of about 40+ people for Thursday Music Trivia and was really looking forward to it because the food looked good on Doordash, they have good Yelp reviews and the restaurant is only a block from my new house. Unfortunately the food was just atrocious. The food is incredibly overpriced and everything I tasted (Loaded Nachos and the Quesadilla) was incredibly bad. Seriously I've had better nachos at a little league game...just awful! They consisted of a big pile of chips, a tiny smattering of very subpar quality, under seasoned ground beef (reminds me of public school sloppy Joe meat in the 1990's), some utterly tasteless slop masquerading as "salsa" and even the jalapeños had zero flavor. How is that even possible? The pic I posted of the Loaded Nachos is the one the owner posted on DoorDash. It's utterly unimpressive and it's $20!!! The toppings on the nachos IRL are even more sparse than in the photo. My friend's quesadilla looked like the ones I made when I came home drunk at 3am in college...maybe, and I mean MAYBE a quarter of an inch thick and it was $10...and that was the special price for Music Trivia, It's usually more. The only thing out of a table of 40+ people that looked good was the Reuben sandwich. It's $16 and comes with fries which seemed very fair. I will say the draft beer was ultra cold and really tasty. I had the Shiner Bock that was $4 from 7-9 on Thursdays during Music Trivia. Let me say unequivocally that if I'd ordered and paid DoorDash prices I would have demanded a refund. It was that bad even dining IN the restaurant so the delivered product would have been inedible. The bright spot of the evening was the service. The restaurant was very understaffed, but the girls ran their butts off to keep everyone's drinks refilled. Our table alone was over 40 people and they had 3-4 servers and one bartender for the whole place. Music trivia was fun thanks to the DJ. He was very engaging and everyone had a good time. He was having a ball and his enthusiasm was infectious! This could be a great place to hang out but the food SERIOUSLY needs to be elevated if it's to survive. They would benefit from whittling down the menu to just bar food and elevating it without increasing the prices. For example they have a prime rib dinner for $32. I can't begin to imagine how bad that must be. I might go back for Music Trivia and to drink beer but I definitely wouldn't order food again unless they do a complete overhaul. read more

Brand new bar and grill in Plano. We visited a day after Christmas to specifically have drinks. The atmosphere is bright and this is more of a 'grill" than a bar where you can't really hang out and party the whole night. Menu seems solid and definitely would like to comeback to try some of the items that caught our attention. Service was really friendly at the bar. Big Mikes Review I am giving a second review of Big Mikes Bar & Grill. We went there a few months ago because we heard wonderful reviews from friends and family. We had a bad experience with service that evening and provided negative reviews on our experience. We decided to give them another chance. This last Friday night we had a completely different experience with service that was A+! The service from hostess's, our waitress, other support servers and the owner was exceptional!!! Shout outs...Jenny the owner. She came to our table and was so nice and helpful. We explained our first negative experience and she admitted some struggles they had as a new business and have worked to improve. Summer. She was our waitress and she was so helpful and on point with service. New waitress Ava was in training and so helpful and fun. The food. Wow-the scratch kitchen food was all wonderful! Friday night was the fish platter special that I had and was awesome! All the drinks, appetizers and other entrees were spectacular! Friday night was live music night and was really good to provide a nice music vibe. Big Mike's...great job and you hit a home run on making improvements in service. Tried this great new place in Plano last night. We had excellent service from Jordan. We tried the Reuben Egg-rolls which were so delicious and crunchy, definitely recommend. We shared the Trash Plate and enjoyed every bite. Our daughter had the Big Mike burger and enjoyed every bite except the one I stole. The burger was fresh and flavorful. The fries were underdone, but we were able to share that with Big Mike and his wife Jen when they came by our table to great us. They were very friendly and so glad we came in to give them a try. They shared with us that it was three weeks last night since they opened and they were glad we came out. We will definitely be back to try other items in the menu! Big Mike's Bar and Grill is absolutely fantastic. The food was delicious, and the service was even better. I ordered the quesadillas, and they were some of the best I have ever had. They were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I also tried one of their West New York specialties (I believe it was called "Garbage" or "Trash"), and it was outstanding. It was truly to die for. It was great meeting Big Mike himself. We had a wonderful conversation, and it is clear that he genuinely cares about his customers. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Great food, great service, and ice cold beer. You simply cannot go wrong. The food is excellent! We had the nicest server, and I just love the owner's Mike & Jennie. My favorite is the Smash Burger & Wings, my husband really likes the Prime Rib Special, the bar is also great! If you are in Plano, you have to try this place. Went to Big Mike's for dinner. I'll preface this by saying we are from Rochester, just as Big Mike and his family are. We ordered the buffalo wings for an appetizer, and they were delicious! Entree's were white Zweigle's hot dogs loaded, they offer white or red, it's unique to Zweigle's, a trash plate, and a double cheeseburger. There was a band and they were great! What a fun place! Me and some friends came up here last night to watch the Cowboy game and have a couple of drinks. We chatted with the owners Mike and Jen and got such a warm, caring, vibe. The place is huge (used to Pancho's, then some other places) and super clean and nice inside. The owner, Mike, built the bar himself. They have 3-4 beers on tap and plenty of liquor choices, 5-6 big TVs. I didn't eat but my friends had wings, and said they were great! We will be back for sure! read more
