Came here for lunch and a beer. Immediately when walking in I was taken aback. It's really nice on the inside and super cozy. The service was fast and the food was delicious. Disappointing. I took my folks there for lunch and it was mediocre. I hope they succeed though and maybe will try again. Hostess/Waitress was quick with a greeting. Took a little while to get bevys ordered, but we were patient. Coffee she delivered was lukewarm. She apologized and brewed a new batch. Very nice. The burger I ordered was very good. Their side of homeade chips were not completely cooked. But the sprinkle of gorgonzola cheese on the chips was something I've never seen before-different and tasty. My parents had a cup of Chowder that was delivered lukewarm. Flavor was good but it was not hot. They liked their sandwiches. They weren't too busy at noon lunch, but had a couple folks seated outside to enjoy the sun. Inside it was super chilly. Their patio seemed a little dull and could use a little more pizzazz as far as decor. The waitress and manager checked on us multiple times. A nice sign that they care. I ordered a pint of craft beer: $4.75, a little high for that neighborhood. I would like to try again maybe for happy hour and apps in the evening. read more

First huge flaw with the Fireside Grill is the lack of a menu, of any type, on their web site. I hate going to places blind, not knowing if there is even anything that sounds good or if I'm going to have to walk out/ The layout is nice and airy, with that patio out the back and the huge doors that can be opened. But when the weather changes that's going to severely limit the capacity of this place. I suspect that was part of the reason McMenamin's failed in this location. Add in the sounds of traffic from Hall, and even though the Patio is right on Fanno Creek, it's really not a very restful or interesting place to spend much time. Another (small) gripe is their dog policy. What is it? When we were there, there was a dog on the patio, which is totally fine. But is that allowed? Is it not allowed? If it allowed, it should be advertised a bit more - Beaverton could use a few more dog friendly dining establishments. Once I did get a look at the menu, I found that it was pretty much standard bar fare. Hummus, Hamburgers, a couple of steaks. The Mac and Cheese which was been mentioned in previous reviews was featured both as an appetizer and as a full meal. But other then the Mac and cheese, nothing really stood out as a "must have," item. Happy Hour drinks weren't badly priced, but could have been a bit better. The Beer choices seemed to a little thin, but perhaps that'll change over time as they grow and get in the groove of things. Service was pretty good, but considering we were one of three tables, that should be a given. Overall Fireside Grill is better then the McMenamins that was here, but at this point there just isn't much to really set it apart from a hundred other similar places in the Portland area. read more

Disclaimer: I wavered between 3 and 4 stars for this review, I feel this restaurant is A-OK, though I am a fan as well. They get four stars because I believe they do the bar atmosphere well and have good food, but three stars because I that is how I felt after leaving "A-OK." The Positives: Drinks - A pretty decent selection of beer on tap, they even had hard cider on tap which made my husband happy. They even made sure what type of vodka I wanted in my gimlet which is really nice considering some places may go a notch above well just to charge you more. Wrap - I had the steakside wrap and it was really good. The steak was tender and it was a decent size for dinner. Burgers - A hefty meal if you ask me! Wow! I did not get to try a bite because they were gone by the time I got around to asking. Cooked to perfection and good ingredients was what I heard through the mouthfuls of bread and burger. Atmosphere - I really liked that this was a 21+ only place. They also kept the TVs on mute and had music in the background, very nice if people in your party (i.e. husband and father) want to go out and watch March Madness with someone (i.e. me) who does not like loud sport's commentary blasting in his/her ear while he/she is eating. Call me crazy, but that is not my idea of fun. The Neutrals: Service - Our server was awesome and I am not sure how this restaurant does it with only two servers and one guy in the kitchen. Our food took a little bit of time to get to us and our drinks were momentarily empty, but they were always hustling (but not in a rushed, loosing my mind kind of way) and I was really impressed. The Not-So-Goods: Chips, while made in-house, were inconsistent. Some of them were really soggy and others were delicious. The Gorgonzola dressing they have is good, but not my favorite. As you can see, there are definitely more good than bad but I just do not think in the Portland metro area this place deserves four stars but I will DEFINITELY go back and would recommend it to friends. Who knows, maybe next time I will bump my rating up to a four. Notes: We went on a Thursday night, it was full, but not "busy busy." I would expect that some of the comments in the more negative reviews might become more apparent as they get busier, especially with how few staff they have working. read more

They have homemade hash.....so excited. My husband had the hash and it was just ok, we thought it had a strange taste and smell for corned beef. The omelet on the menu stated it was light and fluffy however it was not, very tough, dry and the cheese was not melted. My brother in law and sister in law have gone many times for lunch and tell us that the food is amazing and that this breakfast was just a fluke. The establishment was very nice along with the waitress who was very attentive to our needs, we will give them another shot again to see how they do next time. read more

Food - Amazing. Staff - Equally Amazing, accommodating and friendly. It would be easy to miss this place if you weren't looking for it but you don't want to miss it. It's in a strip plaza but it's unassuming exterior opens up to a classic bar with a large outdoor patio. You cannot take children here. I went with a friend last Sunday and this week we wanted to go back. The happier hour menu has good variety and great prices but the food is so awesome we opted for the regular menu because well we wanted more. Try their house-made chips. Regular or sweet potatoes. Both are equally good it just depends on if you want sweet or not. Burgers are yummy and even the small portion is filling. I've had the Black Jack burger and loved it so much I had it again. We've had dessert both times. The creme brulee is perfectly prepared and to die for. They have a full bar but try the house lemonade or and Arnold Palmer made with it. This place far exceeded our expectations. We were looking for a place close to our hotel and this one had good reviews on yelp. Two of us ordered burgers and thee other diner ordered the Ruben. The diner who ate the rubin thought it was the best one he had ever eaten. The burgers where great. We started with the scotch eggs which were also good. Went to this place a couple weeks back on the recommendation of a friend. So glad I did! The place is cozy, with a fantastic happy hour menu. The food is super tasty and not like your normal greasy bar food either. The $3 Creme Brulee Beer Float = AMAZEBALLS! I have never liked beer and this was delicious! Let me start by saying that any sports bar that has Glassy Baby votives on their tables starts off on a very good foot. We had the Bomber Burger and the daily special of Dungeness Crab Mac and Cheese and salad. The burger was a bit past the medium rare we ordered, but it was still juicy with great flavor. The caramelized onion was a nice change- thanks fellow yelpers for the recommendation. The chips and gorgonzola sauce served with the burger were a special surprise, thinly sliced and delicious. The crab was a nice addition to the mac and cheese, with just the right amount of crab. The toasted bread was excellent quality bread to begin with, and the toasting added good flavor. The honey balsamic raspberry dressing on the side salad was very good. Service was very good. We will go back again! read more

My friend and I came here at the recommendation of coworkers and we were sadly disappointed. The waiter who was helping us out was creepy to my friend and it seems possible that it was because she's black. He commented by saying he liked my friend's hair and she was made uncomfortable by it and wondered how he could even see it as it was up in a tight bun. The rest of the evening was followed by him being over friendly and it put both of us off. Then when he went to return our debit cards, he held out my card towards her and asked Felicia? (guessing it was hers, stereotyping that Felicia must be her name because she's POC..?) And my friend very uncomfortably was like no mine is the other card. Ontop of that interaction, her drink cup smelled like bleach/chemicals, and my burger fell apart in a soggy mess two bites in. This place is such a nice surprise. Random location but ... What a find! The servers are super friendly. All the food is made in house. Haven't had anything I didn't like. Dave was so friendly and happy to tell us all about the beers and let us try a couple tasters. Can't wait to try brunch and bottomless mimosas! The veggie burger is incredible. Unpretentious, with great food that stands above your typical pub fare. Low-key relaxed 21+ atmosphere and the owner is down-to-earth, knowledgeable and friendly. Really impressed with the drinks and food. I had the whiskey tin and my wife had the lemon cocktail. I enjoyed the scotch egg, the waffle chicken was quite good, and the Bourbon burger was sufficiently messy. Servers seem to all share tables, which I think is where the service issues lie. They all seem competent but like they are all trying to take a bite out of an elephant. It gets wonky. Serving tables at a place like this should not be a team sport - that's just asinine. We've been in the area for more than a year now and we've gone to a lot of different places in the area. I found this place on Yelp and thought it would e a great place to try out. I liked their large beer list. Once I was there I decided to get the Rosemary Balsamic chicken and asked for extra potatoes. My fiance got a burger and the potato chips that come with it. Afterwards my fiance talked about how it wasn't filling enough for him. I loved my chicken and still think of it every so often, wouldn't mind having it again. I did feel as though I didn't get much food either, and we ordered more extra potatoes to share. I had framboise and it was awesome! Overall, I would like to go again for the chicken, but I do really wish they go away with the chips and serve fries instead. It would be much more filling and feel like a better deal. Came here after receiving recommendations from friends. The food here is tasty, well cooked and decently priced, but the service was not great. Ordered a steak, it came out well undercooked, it took us a long time to have one of the servers come over despite having made eye contact with several of them with clear indication that we wanted them to come over. After I very politely explained about the steak, the guy acted as it were a huge hassle and made me feel very uncomfortable, even made a comment about me "cutting into it". How am I supposed to know how the steak is cooked without cutting into it? He agreed to bring a new one over, but it took a very long time with no sense of urgency, did not offer me anything in the mean time, and it really was a bad experience. read more

Really love this place It's close-ish to my house, the food is very good, the staff is AWESOME, and the music tonight absolutely rules. The small, tight staff recognizes people quickly after a few visits, goes out of their way to please, and works their butts off under sometimes tough circumstances. Tonight I asked for a drink that dates from the 1980s, and although the bartender wasn't familiar, he noted that he "could be" in an absolutely positive manner. And once I explained that a Colorado Bulldog was a White Russian with a splash of coke on top, damned if he didn't pour me the best one I've had since the day. Nothing I've eaten there has ever been bad, and most of it has been very good. They occasionally have unevenly cut steaks, which makes life wretched for the cooks, but even then the flavor is good, the portion generous, and my chihuahua does Not Care about meat cooked past medium rare. He'd eat leather if I let him. Sum it up, this is one of my locals and thank goodness for it. read more

First and foremost, the Fireside grill has good food. Like really GOOD. Not just bar food, but gourmet takes on standard pub fare. They make a lot of their sauces in house - delicious honey mustard, and the Gorgonzola cream sauce - heaven! The drinks are pretty good and they have a huge liquor selection. I have young kids and would love to be able to bring them in for lunch (it's 21 and over only) but I have to admit on days I can actually get a sitter, it's nice to go somewhere without children. I have many friends in Beaverton who frequent this place and say the owner is hit or miss in his service. One day super happy and chatty and the next day acting like he is mad you're in his restaurant. Hello! You should be happy your restaurant is busy. I know it's stressful to own a business - my husband and I own one as well. But we kiss our customers' you know whats 24/7. That's just what you do when you want to keep their business. Some of their servers are super nice and friendly though - but they always seem understaffed. The patio - The patio here is gorgeous - or it could be with some sprucing up. Also, just before a super sunny weekend where the patio could be packed full of customers, they aren't opening. My group found that strange. I guess they have their reasons. Drinks. They are good. But what's weird is that when you ask what is in them - the staff is SUPER mysterious. So they have secret drink recipes? That's fine - but I need to know what's in my drink. Vodka? What? When you ask, they kind of treat you like you are stupid for even asking what a drink called the F-ing Fantastic is when the description is 'raspberry deliciousness. 'nuff said' No it's not! We had to ask for Happy hour menus and when happy hour was. That was weird, like they didn't want us to know. I've been to The Fireside Grill twice and really enjoyed each visit. I got their club sandwich each time and it was delicious. I'm going to venture off next time and try their rosemary chicken. The staff is always friendly and the food is truly great. They make everything in house (including the sauces). They grind and hand-press all their burgers. My friend got their burger cooked well done and it still came out juicy and delicious. I love their homemade chips with gorgonzola sauce. They also have an awesome heated patio during the warmer months. There are a ton of beers on tap and they make yummy signature cocktails too. I love their capri sun cocktail! Probably my favorite local bar/restaurant. Service is always good, the staff is friendly and is constantly bantering with each other and make it seem like they're all friends that hang out after work. Food has been great every time I've gone. Good quality, lots of it, and the prices are fair. Their beer selection is constantly rotating which is nice to change things up and try new beers. The only thing that I don't really care for is the amount of ... visual stimulation everywhere you look. It's not overwhelming, but it can be distracting if you're trying to connect with people or pay attention to a conversation. Unfortunately they do not have a hockey package, so I find myself going elsewhere to watch those games, but if they had that I'd probably spend way too much money there so it's more of a blessing than a curse. read more

I've enjoyed this place since it opened. Burgers are de-Lish, stuffed gnocchi are a guilty pleasure, BBQ sauce wings are crispy and zingy, Reuben is 5 star, pasta is indulgent, entree specials are a secret treat, happy hour rocks. Sometimes they get slammed during games and whatnot and stuff slows down but nothing outlandish. Mostly I wish my Spanish coffee tasted the same every time- some cocktail inconsistency. The owner adores bourbon and whiskey and will recommend your next favorite- whether it's there or anywhere. He clearly cares about people, your life, how's your job? etc etc and treats everyone like his friend. Service brings us back. Beer selection actually rotates instead of just claiming to which is refreshing. You may have to squeeze in to the little seating area or wait an extra 15 mins for food during dinner rush, but lunch service has never been a time issue, also you can have confidence in quality and timeliness when ordering to go. Full disclosure, I only came here late Saturday to visit friends and all I had was the street taco appetizer. I definitely want to come back and try more as I loved the ambiance and atmosphere. The music playing took me back since that was what was popular when I was in high school (2000-01), a little outdated, but might have been a theme night or what have you.
