We got a poke bowl for lunch from Maui Poke. It was pretty good, and certainly the salmon and tuna were nice size and good quality. The downside was that the toppings are severely limited. You only get three, even with the largest size bowl. Seaweed salad, though very good, is a small portion that counts as one of the sizes. Also, crab salad, which is often a free topping at other poke places, costs $4 to add to a bowl here. They're basically counting it as another protein, which doesn't really make sense because it's much, much cheaper than actual salmon or ahi tuna. All in all, it was still a good poke bowl, so I give it four stars. read more

Businesses should know that ALL customers should be treated and greeted with respect. The person in the picture chose to pick and choose who he thought he should show kindness and dignity to. However, it is no surprise that people like him still exist because look at our world full of prejudice and bias. When non people of color came up to the counter he greeted them with Aloha and asked how can I help you? But when people of color came up to the counter his whole expression changed and did not greet us the same. Actually he barely even said anything to us and when he did he was abrupt and rude. We did purchase drinks from there but not food. I do want to add that Matthew made our drinks was nice and professional. My husband and I enjoyed the convenience of this poke place. It's walking distance from the hotel and also located at Whaler's Village where there is much to see. He ordered the build your own bowl with nachos as the base. That was brilliant on their part! Never had poke over wonton nachos. Their fish is not pre marinated so they were able to easily accommodate my food sensitivities and soy allergy. I'm pretty fussy about Poke and didn't expect to like this as much as I do given its location in the pretty uninteresting food court at whaler's village, but we've now been 3 times on 3 different trips to Maui. We always get the big kahuna Maui Signature bowl with ahi and I'm always impressed with the quantity and quality of the Poke which is always so fresh, soft, and with very little sauce. I made the mistake of selecting a local favorites bowl (Lahaina Heatwave) so it didn't have quite as many toppings as I would have liked. The bowl consisted primarily of zucchini noodles as my choice for base and salmon, jalapeños, avocado, masago, ginger, and seaweed. There was definitely a lot of heat from the jalapeños, but the avocado helped bring down the heat by a notch. It wasn't bad, but I've had better. I loved the zucchini noodles! My daughter and friend built their own bowl and were very pleased with the end product. I should have done the same... The passionfruit green tea with crystal boba was good. We got other items from Joey's Kitchen so I got only a Maui Signature at this establishment. I also got a passion fruit tea for $5. Yes, I detected a bit of passion fruit and there was definitely tea, but the taste was fleeting. It felt like water with a hint of passion fruit and tea. The Maui Signature had a great presentation as it looked appetizing. But when I tasted it, I was disappointed. Perhaps I've been used to the "chipotle" style poke places in California where you choose your protein, your toppings and your sauces. For instance, the "Hawaiian Poke" in Dublin, California has bigger bowls, more toppings and better flavor. This one did not have enough sauces to my liking. We did get soy sauce from Joey's Kitchen and had to add that to the poke. The biggest issue I had with the poke was that half of the white rice was not fully cooked. That's just a mistake that no restaurant should make. Perhaps we were unlucky and got the half-cooked rice. But poke in Hawaii, especially with a name like "Maui Poke" should not be this bad. Had a horrible experience at the Whaler's Village location from one of the workers the other day. We ordered two mango lemonades to go with our poke bowls and unfortunately the drinks tasted really bad. Both my kids didn't like them and I tried it as well. Taste was super sour. I went up to the lady at the register and asked if I could trade them for two bottles of water. Although the drinks cost more than double the cost of water, she was going to charge me for the water and told me to throw away the drinks myself. She said it wasn't her fault that I ordered the drinks. I was super polite too. It totally caught me off guard. No aloha. Bad customer service. i will not go there again. read more

Most poke places you can load up on toppings, this place is limited. I didn't realize that until after I already started my bowl so keep that in mind. I got a premade bowl because I was honestly overwhelmed with all the options of a create your own bowl. The second time I came here I decided to make my own bowl! My only complaint about the make your own bowl option is that you are limited to 2 sides, so I could only pick avocado and edmame. In contrast, I found that the premade bowl options comes with more sides. I would also like to echo all of the other reviews who mentioned the long wait time. This place is located in a busy mall and it's quite small with 2 workers but nonetheless it's worth the wait and the workers are trying their best! Maui Poke is average at best, most of the sauces are mayo-based and the one I chose (spicy togarashi I think?) tasted pretty stale. Poke lacked flavor and the selection of toppings wasn't that big.
