After doing some laundry down the street I remember hearing about The Fish Shack. I decided to give it a shot! Glad I did. Very friendly and food is definitely made to order as I had to wait, which I'm not upset about. The food was delicious and I'll definitely be back! This is a place to order your food and go home to eat it. Parking lot is small but easy to get in and out.

Best fried catfish I've had in some years. Fresh, seasoned and perfectly cooked. Fish is flaky , moist & crispy. Shrimp was also crispy & seasoned well. Fries are fresh & salted to perfection. Sauces are made in house. Service was great and informative. This really is a small family business, strictly to go ordering , no tables just great food.

Finally, a good fish house close to home so now i don't have to drive all the way to north long beach for it. I got the jumpo shrimp combo and yes they tasted good and the batter was nice and crispy! Fries average just like most spots. The potato salad was good. They have fish, chicken, oyster and shrimp so lots to pick from. The lady taking my order was sweet. They have dessert which i should have got one but i will on the next trip. Not many good fish spots in long beach but this one is solid! Shrimp Plate 8.8/10 very good and you get 8 nice size shrimps Onion rings 8.0/10

I like the way they box up fish dinners it was still very crispy when I arrived home.

Do you love fried fish if so this is the place for you this is my second time eating at The Fish Shack and I'll let you know my take on the food. The Fish Shack is located in a busy street with a huge parking lot so pull up it's for to go orders only the staff is youngish and very nice. They have an extensive menu what do you want red snapper, fried oysters shrimp or fried okra whatever you desire I'm sure it's on the menu. I decided on a combination meal it came with 3 pieces of fried red snapper, 5 fried shrimp seasoned fries 3 hush puppies and a dinner roll. -- Red snapper 3 pieces I asked them to fry it extra crispy it was seasoned very well very crispy and perfectly cooked It was 5/5 -- You must ask them to fry the fish extra crispy. Fried Shrimp medium size. Seasoned perfectly and crispy enough to eat the shell on the tail they were so good. 5/5 French Fries Crispy standard frozen fries crispy sprinkled lightly with seasoned salt they were sooo good hot and fresh. 4/5 Hush Puppies Nice and crunchy great seasoning and completely cooked inside I loved them. 4/5 Dinner roll Standard roll/bread very dry it was just ok. 2/5 The meal came with two free sauces of my choice but they have four from which you can choose I paid .50 each extra for two more. -- Remoulade sauce delicious. Hot sauce standard and good. Tartar sauce standard and good. Seafood sauce standard and good. -- All of them were good they're just your standard average store bought sauces very good and they all go well with the fish shrimp and fries FYI I dipped the fries in everything and it was the bomb. Everything I ordered was delicious and I would order them all again the food was fresh and not fishy very crispy and seasoned well I was pleased. My first visit on during the grand opening was a very long wait in line which I expected because it was packed -- however the food was expensive and everything I ordered was under seasoned and not very crispy so I'm glad to see that wasn't an issue today and the quality issues have improved. Consistency is what I look for when I revisit restaurants and based on the current good reviews and my experience today it's looking real good for The Fish Shack. 4/5 today. -- Maybe I'll up the rating after two more visits if the food quality is consistent. Stop by and show your support and as I always say in the summertime after lunch or dinner head straight down Atlantic towards Ocean and visit The Aquarium or the Pike you will thank me. Just me Shawn C. Bye for now. .

This place is to go only. Outdoor dining available. Of fish is not your thing they also have friend chicken. Everything is prepared to order so there will be a slight wait. I ordered the shrimp and whiting with hush puppies and fries. The shrimp and hush puppies were my favorites. The fries were ok. The food came out piping hot and travelled well back home.

À la cart three jumbo shrimp and two pieces of red snapper $12.48 that's a steal

Our group of four had a chance to stop by for an early dine-in dinner, and found the chicken to well prepared and tasty. Originally founded in 1976 in Los Angeles by a enterprising franchisee who wanted to create his own fast food brand, Louisiana Famous Fried Chicken soon became very popular with LA residents. As sometimes happens with immigrant communities by word of mouth and 'paying it forward', the burgeoning Cambodians began to be the majority owners of franchisees, until it resulted in the brand being sold to a Cambodian in 2009. Considering the largest concentration of Cambodians outside of Cambodia is in Long Beach, California, I wanted to try this particular location. They also sell donuts here, and my credit card bill actually listed the donut shop as the vendor...this for me is not a selling point, but was not noticeable during our visit. It's a walk-up set-up, where you order/pay for your food through security windows. We ordered a 12-piece family combo for $35.45, which included 3 pieces of breast/thigh/wing/leg, 2 small orders of fries, a coleslaw and 6 rolls. They also sell fried catfish and shrimp, so got a 4 pc shrimp ($3.85). They only sell drinks by cans or bottles, so got 4 cans of Coke/Pepsi/Squirt. It is clearly stated that each order is fried fresh, taking about 20 minutes. Our order was ready in 15 minutes, and we decided to dine-in (a small makeshift outdoor dining area with temporary tables was set-up). The chicken was well brined and had been fried well (leaving plenty of space between the chicken), with the outer coat being crunchy with a little bit of spice. For me it tasted very similar to the popular national chain, but with more consistency. The 'small' fries were not that at all, but very large...with one being enough to feed the four of us. The fries looked underdone, but were not. There were no condiments available, so the saving grace was the thin hot sauce that you could dip your fries and chicken into. The rolls were forgettable, and the coleslaw was grocery store quality (which I actually like). In fact, the chicken and sides reminded me of what you could get at a grocery store deli, except always getting the chicken fresh, instead of ones that have been fried too many to a basket and sitting too long under a heat lamp. Freshness definitely matters here. There was plenty of food for the 4 of us, with us taking half of the meal home. It reheated very well, providing us a good lunch the following day.

Once inside, there were quite a few customers. The atmosphere felt very old-school and slower paced, with more of an older crowd. The girl taking the order was very friendly, which I appreciated. I ordered the Three P's fish and chips, jumbo shrimp, and a large coleslaw. After taking it home, I thought the fish tasted light and fresh, and the fries were pretty good too. Overall, I thought it was decent. My mom, however, felt the food was a little soggy and could've been cooked a bit longer. She also mentioned the batter on the fish had a slightly sweet taste, almost like a donut or cake batter rather than a traditional fish batter. Overall, I wouldn't necessarily go far out of my way for it, but if you're already in the area, I'd say it's worth trying at least once.

The oysters were not big, but came with a lot of smaller pieces. I like the bigger oysters so I could taste more oyster than breading, but this did the trick as well! Smaller pieces, but more pieces! I love hush puppies! These were more crispy on the outside! When my order was ready, I asked for extra tartar and hot sauce. She gave me one and one little cup each. When I opened the bag, to my surprise there was a set of sauces in the dinner and for my single piece of fish! I'm so happy that I got so much tartar and hot sauce! I'm a dunker! The tartar sauce was more herby, like a ranch and not creamy like mayo. But still delicious! Especially when you mix it with hot sauce! This place is a small fish market, no tables.
