Everything went well about our visit to Fitzroy. This was a first time being able to get a table here as the last time we attempted we did not make a reservation and they were packed. The moment we arrived for our 5:15pm reservation we were immediately shown to our nice little table and were greeted by our server "Stevie" as in Wonder and Nicks. He was awesome. Great personality and great suggestions too. You can tell he enjoys what he does, as he memorized so many details of the menu items. We went with a Cucumber Blossom and Bees in the Trap cocktail. Both of them were very good and tasty to our likings. We then proceeded to order some of the Brussel sprouts as a starter and we just closed our eyes as we enjoyed every bite and chew of the perfectly cooked sprouts. Our main course we went with the Catfish over collard greens and grits and the gnocchis with two pan seared scallops. We had an incredible night at The Fitzroy in downtown Savannah. From start to finish, everything about this place felt intentional -- the atmosphere, the food, the service, and even the cocktails. Chef Daniel gave us a peek behind the scenes, showing how much care goes into every dish. You can actually see (and taste) the freshness -- from the herbs clipped right off the patio to the house-made sauces. We started with the Georgia shrimp with Calabrian chili butter and the peach & goat cheese gazpacho, both bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. For entrées, the tomato burrata gnocchi was next level -- bright, creamy, and perfectly balanced. The chicken was one of the best I've ever had, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, and the steak was cooked spot-on. Then there's the bar... Grayson, the bartender, is a magician. The Spritz Roy was light and refreshing, the Coco Wash Mojito used their own in-house coconut-washed rum, and the Left Hook (with jalapeño vodka, Tajín rim, and blood orange) was an absolute knockout. I was looking for last minute dinner plans in Savannah while walking around town and saw the Fitzroy onYelp. The menu looked interesting and the rating was high, so we decided to give it a try. The ambience is dark, moody, and cozy. We were seated immediately without a reservation. Our server was super helpful in making recommendations. We ordered the pork osso bucco and chicken schnitzel, both of which blew our minds. The calamari appetizer with a yellow curry tofu sauce was also incredible and unique. This is a great spot for a cozy dinner, a bridal party, or a group of adult friends. Not a kid spot. Loved the diverse dining vibe! The bar selection is extensive and prices are reasonable. Seating at the bar made for a fun chatting group. The Poutine was full of flavor and the pork skins (chicarrón) were tasty, but for us they were to heavily seasoned making them spicer then we liked but still edible. We combined them with the poutine and it was superb. Main dinner entrees were okay but could improve. The quality of the steak in the steak frites was a bit fatty but overall tender and the sauce was full of flavor. I appreciated that they could provide the unseasoned fries which I requested. Hubby got the mussels and stated the sauce was tomato based and delicious but the mussels were tiny. Totally would go back for drinks and shareable menu items. We didn't have a reservation and was able to get a table for three for dinner on Friday night. There were two bachelorette groups of ladies having drinks and dinner. There were also other tables of those on dates and girls out for appetizers and drinks . Overall, the drinks were tasty, but the food was just OK. Definitely do not order the brussels sprouts! We just weren't impressed at all by this restaurant. We were seated upstairs in a small room that had a loud fan placed on the floor. The hostess didn't acknowledge this or ask if we would like to be seated upstairs. It was strange to us because the entire main dining room on the first floor of the restaurant was nearly empty (also, every time was available for reservation that night so it's not like they were saving seats for reservations). The waiter did apologize for the fan and asked if we would like it off, but told us it gets "stuffy" in the room without it. Regarding the drinks and food we ordered, they were okay. The cocktails weren't well balanced to me and tasted overly sweet. The appetizers we ordered were good but nothing special. We ultimately decided to go somewhere else for an entree. I absolutely adore the Fitzroy. Their food and service is phenomenal, and their farm to table menu gives us a surprise every time. The first time I came here was for my birthday in 2021, we got oysters Rockefeller and they were incredible. I never really liked oysters until I tried the Fitzroys. I enjoyed my time so much that I came back with friends to celebrate their birthdays in 2023, and everything was yet again perfect. The menu featured "Bloody Mary" themed mussels (please bring them back!!) with chorizo, perfection. The drinks were great too. I came back a couple months ago with friends and we got rooftop service, and the white wine mussels were great too. Another great gastropub in Savannah from the people who brought you the Collins Quarter. There are three levels. The bar on one, floor two or the back patio on the roof. We enjoyed the roof tonight. It had heaters and was perfect. The food was really good. I enjoyed the fish and chips. Only thing missing were the mushy peas. The piece of fish was a generous amount. My husband enjoyed the salmon. He loved it alone with the side of beet couscous special for Valentine's Day. The running up this hill (Kate Bush fan here!) gin drink was a strong and tasty. I was blown away. So, my family and I are visiting Savannah for the first time. Apparently you need to make reservations days before to eat dinner at the popular restaurants because it's quite busy in this area. Anyways. We walked up to two polar spots , Vic's on the river and Ole pink house. Both places couldn't seat a party of six. Then we walked pass the Fitzroy and it looked like seats were available. It was. They sat us all. We were all relieved..... There's no reason why this restaurant wasn't packed bc the food was real good!!! The flounder...pretty damn good. The truffle grits...omg. The burger was pretty damn good too. Burger meat wasn't chewy and dry. The fries were good too but slightly lacking for me. I get it's just fries but bc the other food was good I was looking for more. Maybe add truffle Parmesan as an option for the fries. My wife had a gin cocktail that was really good. If you are into craft cocktails , you'll be happy here. No shade but I'm glad we didn't get into Vic's on the river lol. Menu looked boring. Anyways thanks Fitzroy! You saved the night. read more

We had one shot at a beautiful dinner on our one (Monday) night in Savannah. Glad we chose the Fitzroy! My husband is vegan. This is a constant stressor when we're trying to both eat, especially in an unfamiliar city. I was so thrilled to see vegan apps and entrees at a non-vegan restaurant (I want fish! Steak! The stuff I don't get at home!) We sat upstairs - I think I would have preferred to be downstairs near the beautiful bar but we had a pretty window and a quiet room. We got cocktails and the Brussels sprouts - all fantastic. We also split the green goddess salad which was beautifully done. For dinner I had the tuna and he had the tofu curry. Both dishes were outstanding and colorful and filled with vibrant, fresh ingredients. Service was attentive and excellent. Overall the value was excellent - a high quality beautiful meal in a lovely setting without being overboard on price. After being a little disappointed in our visit to the Husk and The Grey this trip, the Fitzroy reminded us why we love the food in Savannah. We started with the Brussel sprouts which were BOMB! We split the mac and cheese which was good but a little different. It had like cinnamon or nutmeg in it or something which was good and unexpected. My fiancé got the steak and was obsessed with the mushrooms and sweet potato mash. I got the mahi mahi which was also very delicious. Almost laughably agreeing with everything we ordered as their favorite which is good they've tried and know all the food options. Another 20 minutes before we received a cocktail. An hour and 45 minutes later we had received soup and another appetizer. And the kitchen did their best to cater to my client's soy, gluten, and tree nut restrictions. I ordered the Chicken Schnitzel which was perfectly crisp in its panko coating. It came on top of a light summer salad. It was juicy on the inside and crispy on the out, just how it ought to be. The chicken portion was big too - I could not even finish mine. My customer with the dietary restrictions had the beef short rib which came with a huge bone inside it and on top of kimchi which the chef prepared him/herself. Very impressive! My coworker had the salmon and chose double mashed potatoes instead of the broccolinni. Everyone enjoyed their dishes immensely. For drinks, my client and I both had three apricot margaritas, which were Heavenly!!! Had two on-site and a third to go, thanks to the ability to walk around with an open container in Savannah. If you've read my previous reviews, you may remember we have a tree nut and a gluten allergy, Alpha Gal syndrome - we are dairy free and I am diabetic. A nightmare for selecting restaurants. It was tough here. The waitress seemed sensitive to our needs and dutifully made notes. Anyway, we got the smash burger (no bun) , fish and chips and the chicken schnitzel. Food was just ok. Wife ordered the burger without a bun (waitress didn't know if they had gluten free buns or bread because "sometimes we have them and sometimes we don't") and without the cheese. Burger came with cheese - not only on top but in between the patties and mixed in the onions. The other dishes were ok. The batter for the fish and chips was really light and it was cooked perfectly. The fish itself not great. The schnitzel was tasty enough with the sauce they had. Service was ok - I had to walk down the hallway once to get someone to help us but other than that she was attentive. Bar looked cool...
