We visited the Fitzroy for a special dinner, and sat on the rooftop patio - seating is available inside as well, but it seems to get quite loud and we enjoyed the conversation better on a beautiful night on the patio. Drinks were creatively prepared, and the steaks were excellent. We had the New York strip special, and the steak frites which come with seasoned fries and a tangy / sweet sauce. I'm giving them five stars for the food yes but the extra star is for the service. Our server was Stevie. He was really great as was the manager. I didn't get his name and I'm not completely sure he was the manager but he knows customer service. I always say all restaurants have missteps at times but what matters is how they are handled. Ours was handled promptly and graciously all without me having to make a request so I won't even mention it in this review. Initially I ordered the lettuces (basically a salad) and the Brussels sprouts but well into their prep I decided I wanted the salmon. This was changed without any hint of inconvenience. The salmon was cooked perfectly. It was a very flavorful dish. My girlfriend got the smash burger and really enjoyed it. We were on the rooftop, which was very enjoyable until the wind started raging. It was fine because by then we were pretty much done. If you live in Savannah you have a real gem here. This is a super cool gastropub with a metropolitan like interior design. Weather-worn brick comprises the front of the establishment with dark teal-like blue in the back end past the bar. My wife is gluten free and the chef personally came out to assure us of what we can order that would be safe. We settled on the duck confit and the beer & cheese salad. Both dishes were excellent selections. The duck breast was to die for. Excellent and exquisite. The beet and cheese salad was incredibly tantalizing between the burrata, honey goat cheese, and the beets. The Crusted Parmesan was the perfect complement to the beet and cheese salad. For cocktails, the Lion's Fix and the Oaxacan Old Fashioned were terrific. The lion's fix had rich and tropical fruity palate while the Oaxacan Old Fashioned had a nice smokiness due to the mezcal. The Queens was a delicious rye cocktail that meshed wonderfully with orange infused sweet vermouth, luxerdo cherries. We looked at where the Fitzroy was, and it was perfect walking distance between where we were and where our car was. It was meant to be! I made a reservation on opentable and it was pretty quiet when we arrived. We requested to sit on the rooftop, and we were the only ones up there since it was in the 60's. It was like a private dinner on a rooftop in the middle of the city just for the two of us. Off to a great start! We started with the burrata, and it was so sweet and unique. It wasn't what I was expecting, but I did enjoy it! It had pomegranate seeds, brown sugar, and I think sweet potato puree. It was very different. The toast it came with was amazing! My boyfriend got the burger with truffle fries, and I got the mussels in a pomodoro sauce (with more toast to dip) and a side of broccolini. My glasses of wine were delicious too. We started off with some excellent cocktails, and a shrimp app. The main course which we shared was Osso Buco, which was sensational! The ambience was wonderful. Probably one of the best restaurants I ate at in Savannah. It can be easily missed when walking if you aren't paying attention but it's outstanding. The inside is has this cool aesthetic and they even have a rooftop. I do recommend getting a reservation because it's a busy spot. Our hostess was so much fun, explained everything and even told us about other cool things to do while visiting. The chicken schnitzel was so good. It's a bacon and mushroom gravy (I didn't have the bacon on mine), fingerling potato and an herb salad. I'll never forget this restaurant. It's the first restaurant my fiancé and I dined at after I proposed. I was a bit worried arranging the reservation since we had our dog with us but the manager assured us we would be taken care of. I called during the day to make the reservation since their site was down but went to voicemail. I was distracted and didn't get a chance to leave one but was promptly followed up with a text from the manager themselves and was able to lock it down. And This is just a small example of the level of service we received that night! We were directed up to the rooftop where we were the only ones there and greeted with a beautiful view of the night sky! The ambiance was nothing short of charming, and the vibes were all there. When we arrived we ordered some amazing pork shoulder croquettes to go with our much deserved celebratory cocktails (Bantum Gin was on point). We then we got the braised short rib as a shared plate which was extremely tasty! Upon our ending of the meal I took it upon myself to let the manager know of our special occasion we were celebrating so once more he gladly let me know he had me covered. When our desert came out it was paired with a perfectly balanced and paired dessert shot. Looking back I don't remember what tasted better but I will always remember how great the service was here and how these guys made us feel! I met a friend here for dinner on a cold Thursday night at 6:30. We should have made reservations but didn't and they only had upstairs seats available outside. Even with heaters it seemed too cold and while we were deciding what to do two spots opened up at the bar. It was actually very comfortable at the bar for two people. The bartender was very nice and patient with us. We were talking and catching up so it took us forever to get around to looking at the menu. The menu is very meat heavy, but offers some good vegetarian options and even a vegetarian entree. The bartender was great in offering menu suggestions. We decided on Brussels sprouts as an appetizer. I chose the salmon for dinner and my friend chose a burger. They had a good beer selection and lots of wines. I opted for a Lord Grey on draft which is always a winner. The Brussels sprouts were amazing. My friend loves her burger. And my salmon was very good. It was served on a bed of mashed potatoes and fresh cooked spinach which was actually the star of the meal. The atmosphere is relaxed but it's a really nice place. After a failed attempt elsewhere we booked a quick and easy reservation. Hostess at the front was very nice and got us seated right away, even offered the rooftop. I was hesitant at first because it was pretty hot and humid out but after the sun vanished it was well worth it. Such a beautiful and romantic setting. Our waitress brought us water and said she would be back. She spent the next 10+ minutes cleaning other tables before coming back just to ask what we wanted to drink (we were ready to order everything). We at least asked for an appetizer (grilled bread) and when it arrived we asked if we could get a side of the garlic confit they had on another item. The food runner said let me check and we never saw her again. We finally got to order our food. The chicken schnitzel was good. The side of fries I ordered were colder than the outside temperature and had no salt or pepper or anything to them. My girlfriend said her food was good but temperature on some of it was cold as well. Overall the only thing I was actually impressed with was the rooftop itself. I would've ordered the special which was a filet mignon that wasn't on the menu. His name was Steve and it really made our experience amazing. We started with the edamame pancake and WOW amazing. I'm still thinking of it. We ordered two French Gingers to drink, the salmon of the day which was salmon, brocolini, and mashed potatoes. We also ordered the chickpea tacos. The tacos were okay, lacking a little bit in flavor but still had a good taste. The salmon was absolutely delicious. Great portion and flavor. It was perfectly cooked. We ended the night with the bourbon creme brûlée and it was soo good and creamy. I can't wait to come back again whenever I visit Savannah again. Truly a five star experience worth trying if you're visiting Savannah or a local. Vibrant flavors and top notch service. Our table of five reserved a table for 7:30. We arrived a little after our reserved time (hehe oops) but we were seated promptly. Our waiter, Stevie, was extremely friendly and helpful in guiding our food and drink decisions for the night. We ordered six dishes- poutine, fries, Brussels Caesar salad, bangers and mash, edamame pancake, and grilled bread. The Brussels Caesar was flavorful and tasty, I highly recommend. The edamame pancake was unique and like nothing I've ever eaten before. If you've had okonomiyaki before, it reminds me of that but with edamame instead of cabbage with the sweet eel sauce flavors. The two dishes with fries were unfortunately disappointing for me, I'm not a huge fan of thin straws. I think it'd be more impressive with thick cut potatoes but that's personal preference. Mild sausage and well seasoned potatoes with tender broccolini for the bangers and mask. Grilled bread had a lemony flavor to it but I still wish it came with olive oil dip. For drinks, I ordered the apricot margarita and it did not disappoint. Everyone at our table was pleased with their drinks- a light Sauvignon blanc, a cab, dirty martini, and virgin mule. For our entrees, hubby went with the Chicken Schnitzel and I chose the special which was Filet Mignon. Both were fabulous! The breading on the chicken wasn't overpowering and paired very well with the Meyer lemon aioli. The chicken was tender, flavorful and juicy. I really liked the salad layer, too. Bacon, cherry tomatoes, pickles onions - yummy! The filet mignon blew me away! Might have been the best steak outside of a steakhouse I've ever had. Very tender with such a wonderful beefy flavor. The mushroom steak sauce was excellent especially mixed with the mashed potatoes. Broccolini is one of the best vegetables that can be served with steak, in my opinion. My boyfriend and I randomly booked this place walking around downtown Savannah. The food was decent. Huge portions, more like enough food for two. We were seated in a smaller and more private room upstairs and we loved being away from the people and noise. The edamame pancake was to die for - definitely the highlight of dinner. This was an impromptu dinner decision on a weeknight. We've been wanting to try the Fitzroy for a while now because it boasts of plenty of veggie options. ~~Service & Ambience ~~ Quirky yet charming interiors. When you enter, you can see a unique bar on your left and tables straight ahead. It has a semi formal feel to it. The dim lights make it favorable for romantic evenings. They also have seating on their rooftop but it was really cold so we didn't get a chance to experience it. Our service was great - politely attentive and provided great recommendations on request! ~~ Food & Drinks ~~ Rahul always gets the Mule and I get the mocktail version of the Mule. I must say, this is the best version of the Mule we've ever tasted - the Ginger Lime ratio was beyond perfect and it came with a beautifully adorned sprig of thyme for the mocktail. We highly recommend it! We ordered the grilled bread - which was warm and lovely , the Poutine (a speciality) and Fish n Chips. It's a busy street but parking is very convenient. There's a parking garage just across the street.
