Great starters, and the Osso Bucco I ended up ordering was quite delicious. Overall a nice spot with a couple things here or there. The Fitzroy was a great! It was easy to make a reservation on Open Table and there was no wait when we arrived. The restaurant was beautiful and was such a nice atmosphere. It was busy, but wasn't crowded at all because the tables were spread out nicely. We ordered the edamame pancake and the sweet and spicy popcorn as apps. Both had nice flavor, but the texture was a little less than ideal. I would have liked the pancake to be a little more cooked (less mushy) and the popcorn seemed to not be too fresh. It was a little chewy. For entrees we got the bangers and mash and the burger. They were the best bangers and mash I've ever had. The gravy really made the dish. The food here was amazing! My husband and I came to Savannah for our honeymoon and have been trying to get a taste of everything. We had the calamari and white bean hummus.. both were insanely delicious. We tried the Burata salad, not bad but not our favorite. My husband had the chicken schnitzel which was very good, I had the burger which was delicious (husband wish he got). Food overall was amazing! Drinks were good but inconsistent from the first to the second. Our server however, was not good. We waited 2 hours for our food... we ordered everything within 10 minutes of being there at 7pm and finished eating at 9:10pm. She said she was spacing things out for us but we sat there waiting for food and drinks, including water, for a very long time. We watched 4 tables around us (different server) come and leave because ours took so long. No one else asked to help us either including the manager. The place was not crowded when I first arrived (maybe about half the tables were filled), but by the time I left the place was livening up. After arriving, I was seated right away. The service was prompt and friendly. Drinks, appetizer, and main came out promptly. I ordered the Salt + Vinegar Pork Skin as an appetizer and the Sixty South Salmon as a main. I did not care for the pork skins, I am guessing they are an acquired taste, but the grilled salmon was excellent, maybe the best salmon I have had. As a side note, the bathrooms (which are located to the right of the bar) are clean and wonderfully decorated. I recommend checking them out as part of your visit. read more

The service was a bazillion stars! Our food kept getting a little messed up, so I had to take off a star, but the Fitz is pretty good elevated bar-faves. I ordered the fish and chips, which was a pan-seared (not breaded) fish, which was supposed to be served with fingerling potatoes. I think they were out of the potatoes, because they served it with fries instead, which was a bit of a bummer. I liked the idea of a non-deep fried fish and chips! We started with bbq shrimp, which were actually boiled shrimp in a delicious, homemade bbq sauce. We had the Fitzburger, a smashed, double-burger, which was excellent. The fries that came with were crispy and delicious thin fries. The other main we tried was salmon, which was evenly seared on top and perfectly cooked inside. During my visit, we opted for the several appetizers to include grilled bread, salt and vinegar pork skins, and cauliflower hummus. For main entrees, we tried the salmon, cheeseburger, and chicken schnitzel. Let me start by saying the portions are huge!! I enjoyed the grilled bread. It was drizzled with lemon and olive oil and had a nice balance. The hummus was great too. It's very earthy and has seasoned pieces of cauliflower throughout. The salmon was the star entree. It was cooked perfectly at medium and dressed with farro, mushrooms, kale, and a butternut squash purée. There was also a vinaigrette on the perimeter of the food. The flavor profile was amazing!! It was a well balanced meal with bold flavors. The vinaigrette added a nice touch to the salmon. There were rave reviews for the cheeseburger and the chicken a schnitzel too. I loved this bar!!! This place has been on my Savannah ToDo list since I got here! We ended up going to while we waiting for our Olde Pink House reservations. We were only able to sit at the bar since they were all booked up. We ended up having 2 beers and some fries to carry us over. The staff was super friendly and the fries were really good!!! Went here for my Husband & I's 1 year wedding anniversary. It was a Friday night around 730-8pm and we hadn't called in advanced to make reservations (highly recommend doing so if you want a table and not just bar seating) we approached the hostess at the time Paige & she let us know that a couple had just gotten up and we would be able to sit at the bar & she would just wipe it down for us. When she had gone to the back to get something to wipe it down someone had came in and sat at the bar without waiting at the desk. Paige came back and noticed this, looked at us with a confused look and without missing a beat let the gentleman know that she had already promised the seats to us. I appreciated this a lot & it made us feel even more welcome than she had already done. We were greeted by Sarah the bartender who not only looked warm & inviting but had the same energy radiate throughout our entire time. From our wonderful cocktails made (my husband had the ol' razzle dazzle & I asked Sarah to make any vodka based cocktail of her choosing) they were both so so good! We also came in as vegan & we're a little concerned about what to get to munch on while drinking, Sarah handed us a little packet that explained all the allergens of each of their menu items which I LOVED. It explained individually what you would need to do to make each dish vegan. We ended up ordering the lettuce wraps but replaced the meat with tofu & didn't eat the slaw or white sauce. I ordered the Steak Frites with an additional side of succotash. The steak arrived as ordered, cooked medium. I know this is only a sirloin, but it was rather tough and chewy. The french fries were just fries, nothing special. The succotash, which they originally forgot with the meal, arrived late. Fortunately, the succotash was the game saver for this meal as it was fresh and delicious. They incorporate small slices of fresh okra with their succotash and it accented the other flavors of the dish perfectly. The rooftop was quiet, green and an intimate space, but it's not a rooftop to view anything other than subpar food and horrible service. I ordered the mahi and veggies and my husband ordered the steak. My food was okay but his steak was a hockey puck cooked to well done (gross). The waitress was not the one to bring us food, but an expediter. We started eating right away, considering it took 45 minutes for food to arrive. I was completely done with my meal before the waitress came over to check to see if the food was correct. I have celiac disease and it is difficult to eat out places at times. The menu was poorly labeled and the waitress even commented on how poorly the gluten free options were identified. Bottom line, go somewhere else. When we arrived at our table Brian immediately recognized that there was a food allergy at our table per our reservation noted on open table and stated he will double check with the chef to make sure our food would be fine to order. We ordered the tofu papaya salad. Loved the spicy jam sauce. Wished they would sell it by the bottle because I would buy it. The leek croquettes were very good and so was the dipping sauce. Wished you got more than 4 because they were that good. Ordered my go to cocktail the old fashion and the whiskey smash. The bartender knows how to make an old fashion and I love that they use a large block of ice. For dinner we ordered Korean shirt rib which fell off the bone. It was delicious. Wished you received larger portion of the kimchi. The seafood fettuccine was excellent! Loved the sauce just wished it came with bread to soak up the wonderful broth. This might be my new favorite dish. Ordered the Oreo cheesecake for dessert. It wasn't your typical cheesecake because it was not heavy. It was actually very light as reminded me of a mouse. Loved the mint in it. It is a great dessert to share. The chocolate ganache was amazing. Everyone in the restaurant is so nice and the manager stopped by our table to check on us. However, unfortunately, it also served the worst dish I've had in a very long time. Red Curry Tofu - one might argue this isn't the place to order a curry tofu dish, which is fair - but I also feel like everything on the menu should at least be edible. This was absolutely not. I hate to say this, but I was actually heading elsewhere for dinner when I walked by The Fitzroy. It has been on my radar since it opened and I saw it on Yelp's "Hot and New" list. They had ladies passing out flyers to alert passerbys like myself to this dinner spot. I grabbed one and kept on walking. But I quickly came back. We walked in for dinner around 6:30pm on an October Friday night, and the place only had a few diners. That was a plus for me because I had a show at the Lucas Theatre to attend at 8pm. The decor is on the darker side - someone once commented to me that The Fitzroy is too dark for them to consider it a good brunch spot. I say you have to weigh everything into consideration. The space is good for couples, families, and even larger groups. To start my evening, I had one of their signature cocktails. Unfortunately I was too busy paying attention to the contents of the drinks as opposed to the names. My drink contained vodka, creme de cassis and absinthe. It was tart and strong, without an overwhelming taste of alcohol consuming your tastebuds with every sip. We enjoyed some short rib croquettas that my husband ordered. They have a slight kick, but are very meaty. My entree was the grilled market fish, which happened to be an Australian sea bass. I really enjoy sea bass, so I knew I made a good decision. That was confirmed when my dish came out. The presentation was beautiful, and everything on my plate tasted delicious. Our party got really quiet while eating, and you know that can only mean one thing! My dish included Carolina Gold Rice, foraged greens, asparagus, roasted yellow onion and salsa verde. In the past I've dined on the rooftop here which is a nice experience. It was rainy this visit so a no go. The key reason I give The Fitzroy four stars and not five, is that when the bill came I noticed there is a 2% additional fee over taxes and tip to cover fluctuating costs. In fairness, I did not dispute the fee and paid it but IMHO that is a hidden service fee. In my business experience, where there is mystery, there is margin. Ironically, I liked everyone else's dish better than mine. Every dish had its unique flavor profile. We had the moroccan scramble, Benedict, and the mascarpone hotcakes. The later is a stellar choice for a nuanced sweet route with fresh berries. What won me over was the pleasant staff from greeting, bar, to waiter. Pleasant decor with a roof patio.
