Stopped in hour before closing on Sunday. It wasn't busy. Jimmy was our server. We tried different dishes on this visit. My son tried the milk lava French toast. I ordered the three cup sauce chicken pot and Singapore Laksa noodle soup. My husband had the Teppan steak set. We finished the noodle soup. It had the perfect amount of spice with shrimp, fish and fish balls. Chicken pot was very flavorful. Jimmy said it was the most popular of the chicken pot options. Steak was good as well. My son liked the French toast a lot. When asked about the filling, Jimmy said that it was a secret recipe. Of course! Food was delicious and came out fast. Service was excellent. Very attentive! Will be back.
The dog and bear ice were cute and a nice one time experience for a good Yelp picture. But, it was not easy to eat nor did it really taste like anything. The teppan set was delicious with just the right amount of seasoning. I loved that the skillet was hot enough to make some of the rice crispy. I've been to Singapore and I was totally missing Laksa and theirs hit the spot. The sparkling Mango soda was very refreshing and would be a great option for the summer. Looking forward to going back and trying other items. The place opens at 11 and they got packed quick and I can see why!
The restaurant is literally in front of 99 Ranch, not off to one side. That three me off when I was looking for it. It is fairly small but people are in and out so there was no wait while I was there. I had the calamari starter which was okay and nothing special. For my main I had the pork chop with tomato sauce and cheese over rice. The rice is actually a fried rice and was pretty good by itself. The pork chop is tender and flavorful but there's not enough compared to the amount of rice served...good thing the rice was good by itself. I also tried my friend's fried rice and it was very good but again nothing out of the ordinary. What tickled me was my Thai ice tea with a "dog" ice. It looked more like a kitten to me but still cute. The ice tea was tasty too so bonus.
This cafe is right next to (connected to) 99 Ranch. From the outside, it doesnt look like anything special but what got me here were Yelp reviews and I was not disappointed. The handmade noodles were delicious with the right amount of chewyness and the sauce was perfect. I do prefer spice so asked for chili sauce and what they gave me was super spicy! I think next time I am in thr area, I will come by to try their desserts! The popcorn chicken was perfect as well. Do not sit on this place and go eat there.
Conveniently located next to Ranch 99, Flame Cafe offers a variety of Hong Kong cafe staples. We had no trouble quickly getting a table when we came before noon, but I've seen lines before during the lunch rush. I ordered the toast, curry beef brisket, baked pork chop with rice, and baked fish fillet with cream sauce. The portions are ample, and the taste is decent. Nothing that will knock your socks off but enough to satisfy that HK food craving.
There was no wait when we came in for lunch on Saturday. But it was almost all full. Service was quick and efficient. Lots of options on the menu. All the food came out and it was delicious. Fried foods were perfect and crucnhy. Sizzling dishes had great flavor. Skewers were perfectly cooked. Portions were generous, we had lots of leftovers! The beverages were super cute, although on the sweeter side.
Flame Cafe has a great, cozy atmosphere, totally giving homey vibes with all the cute decorations everywhere. Festive LED lights brightening the rom while calm songs playing in the background.. just great! I ordered the Beef chow fun and pork chop baked rice. The pork chop baked rice is authentic, specially because the rice underneath is fried rice and not basic white rice. One thing to add is that there isn't enough sauce. Sauce gave the traditional cha chaan teng flavor though. The beef chow fun serving is kind of small, and the beef is kind of chewy. Staff is attentive, good experience overall.
The Vibe: Cha Chaan Teng chic. The Strategy: Eat first, regret nothing later. My Therapist Recommended This (Okay, I recommended it to myself) Forget yoga. Forget meditation apps. If you are having a bad week, the cure is sitting right here in this classic hk dish. I call this the "Emotional Support Combo". The Baked Pork Chop Rice: It's basically a warm hug made of cheese and tomato sauce. The pork is tender, the rice is fluffy, and the sauce is tangy enough to make you forget your problems. The Milk Tea: Silky smooth and served in that iconic Black & White cup. It calms the soul while simultaneously waking up the brain. The staff here are basically the care team--they saw my empty water glass and refilled it before I even asked. Total cost: Way less than a co-pay. Side effects: Extreme happiness and a full belly. Absolute comfort food heaven. My diet starts tomorrow (maybe).
I always enjoy coming here when I can for a Hong Kong style meal and it always fulfill a craving! It does get pretty crowded over the weekends but we were still able to get a pretty large group in! The service is pretty good overall and I did feel like it was pretty efficient! There's a large parking lot outside that it shares with 99 ranch but you're able to find somewhere to park!
This place is located right in front of 99 Ranch. The vibe is nice. They have cool decor like bear bricks. I only tried their Baked Seafood with rice and it was amazing! It had fish, calamari, and shrimp in it. Everything had the perfect mix and texture. Pro tip: ask for hot sauce and it takes it to the next level. The food came out quick and it was served fresh and hot! Service was great also. It filled me up but I wanted to keep eating because it was so good. I will definitely come back to try other items. If you've never been to Hong Kong, eating here will give you a glimpse of their amazing food. It's that authentic.
Came here for lunch and got the Thai tea with dog! It's so cute! But somehow it's not a dog but a bear!! Got the beef brisket noodle and chicken steak teppan . they sizzle in front of you which did splash on us a little. So sit further away! The beef brisket was not as tender as I'd like. The noodle was a bit too soggy. The chicken steak teppan was good. Huge bowl of rice. If you should your yelp, you get a lemon ice tea and it came with the dog!! The price is very affordable compared to the Bay Area. Will definitely come back to try other things if in the area.
好食，抵食 Pork chop in tomato sauce was one of my fav take out items from 大家樂 when i was at school. The pork chop here brought back so many fond memories. We ordered the seafood in cheese cream sauce as well, and some garlic chicken wings. I think both baked rice items are spot on and quite a bargain. The chicken wings are also pretty good, relatively less good value. The service was perfect, and the place is cleaner and more spacious than a typical HK 茶餐廳
Came here on a pleasant Sunday afternoon and was seated right away--no wait at all. There were four of us, but since we weren't too hungry, we decided to share two entrées and one appetizer: the curry fishballs, beef sizzling plate, and creamy seafood baked pasta. The sizzling plate was nicely presented and mixed tableside by the server, though I didn't try it myself since I don't eat red meat. The curry fishballs arrived hot and flavorful--not overly salty, but nothing particularly standout either. My favorite by far was the baked seafood pasta. The seafood tasted fresh (which I'd expect given they're attached to an Asian grocery store!) and the cream-to-pasta ratio was spot on. I also appreciated that none of the dishes were overly salty. The interior felt clean and modern. While the restaurant is on the smaller side, it still managed to feel cozy without feeling cramped. Overall, I'd definitely return to try more of their dishes! :)
First time here! Super busy on a Saturday afternoon so be prepared for at least a 30 minute wait. Got a few things to try: #3 signature spicy mala chicken pot, comes with steamed rice - good, but wish it was spicier #102 milk tea with a bear #401 baked pork chop in tomato sauce with spaghetti - pork had great flavor and was not dry, but tomato sauce was a little too sweet for my liking #402 baked prawn with tom yum cream sauce with spaghetti - unique dish that I've never had before, tom yum flavor was subtle, my favorite from today I will be back to try other dishes! read more

As far as honest truthful review goes, this restaurant's service and dishes were very disappointing. The atmosphere is Hong Kong style cafe, the ambiance, the sound system is all great but the songs that were broadcasted included profanity and it was loud volume like a concert. The food were really really underwhelming. The white sauce corn and fried fish baked rice tasted bland. The fried rice was bland. There was no sauce visible white sauce on the baked rice. It came out in less than 10 mins after ordering. I don't know if you tried baked rice at other restaurants but the speed the dish came out is obviously not a baked rice dish. Another thing ordered was curry beef stew with spaghetti-- the curry was very thin and lacked any flavor, the beef stew was all skinny lean beef stew pieces, the carrots tasted bland like they just added them into the curry separately, the potatoes were fried and then added to the curry separately as well. I didn't take a photo of the curry beef stew when it was came out but it was literally in big cappuccino cups--very difficult to eat so I asked the server for a big metal bowl instead. Never returning. 99% of the 5 star reviews on Yelp for this establishment is fake. read more

The food was great! I had #381 teppan slice beef set (sliced beef over rice on a hot plate) with a Hong Kong milk tea! The rice plate is so yummy and comes out hot and sizzling. You mix it up the rice, beef, sauce, and enjoy! The milk tea is rich in flavor and comes in a traditional "black & white" branded cup. read more

Overall, good experience 4.0 stars. I had a mixed feeling in terms of my three separate visits to this restaurant. Overall, tastes good 4.3 stars. Their higher price items from the Special Section, Steaks on ion skillet were presentable, excellent, and entertaining. While the Pork Chop Curry with Rice, aesthetically not pleased because of how "runny" the curry sauce was, yet surprisingly delicious. They added a dollop of condense milk to our HK Style hot milkteas when we requesed for it. read more

This place was really good. They made the food in less than 5 minutes and it takes very fresh. The servers were nice and friendly. The portions and the size was also very reasonable. There were many items on the menu but don't be afraid to ask them for suggestions. We went an hour before they closed and they were still able to accommodate us and we had no issues. For my second time here (6/23/2025), I ordered the #381 Teppan Sliced Beef Rice. Highly recommend. I also ordered #129 Thai Tea w/ Dog. It's good, just a lot of ice to keep the dog afloat hahah. Worth the try: baked rice/spaghetti Tip: You can ask to substitute the sauce for your baked rice or spaghetti. Baked Pork Chop: Baked pork chop on top of your choice of rice or spaghetti with sauce. Typically served with tomato sauce, but I asked to sub for cheese cream sauce. Large portion. A bit on the salty side, but I think that's the point of this classic comfort dish. Note that this takes a while to come out since they do have to bake it. Milk Tea w/ Bear: Classic Hong Kong Milk Tea. I asked for mine with no sugar so obviously it tastes different, but I prefer it that way. The bear was so cute and a nice touch. PARKING: Huge lot in the 99 Ranch plaza. SERVICE: Great service though they only had 2 servers for a full restaurant. I appreciated that they offered us a better table and cleaned it well too. ATMOSPHERE: Cute, little Hong Kong cafe tucked away next to 99 Ranch. Love all the colorful decor--there are bear and astronaut figurines, little pandas and bamboo, and printouts of the specials all along the walls. I'm a fan of Hong Kong cafes and this one has been in my bookmarks for a while. My friend and I were looking for a quick bite to eat and decided to come here. To our surprise, the place was packed on a Thursday afternoon, but it was worth the wait. The food is as expected from a Hong Kong Cafe: nothing fancy but it's good, comforting, and gets the job done. Will be back the next time I'm craving baked rice! read more

It's been a while since my last visit because of work, but I came back to The Flame Cafe today and the food was just as good as ever. The mala chicken pot and the laksa noodles are still my top picks. Both dishes were packed with flavor and so satisfying. Jimmy, our waiter, was also very polite, attentive, and thoughtful. His service was warm and accommodating, which made the whole dining experience even better. I'm so glad I came back, and I'll definitely return again. read more

Good service and very decent food offers a delightful taste of Hong Kong comfort food. The milk tea is rich and silky, perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. I loved the crispy pineapple bun with a thick slab of butter melting inside. The scrambled eggs were fluffy, and the instant noodles with luncheon meat felt nostalgic and satisfying. Service was fast and friendly despite the busy lunch crowd. Prices are reasonable, making it a great spot for casual meals with friends or family. Highly recommended overall. read more

This is my first time here. The service is great, and I ordered the Singapore Laksa Noodle Soup, Stir-fried pork intestines, and milk tea w/a bear. The noodle soup is alright. If they can add more flavor on the soup base, it will be perfect. The pork intestines taste okay. I will suggest to deep fried the intestines before stir fried it to make it more tasty. Overall, I will say they are the best I've never had in the Sacramento area. I will recommend this place. read more
I came here without expecting much since it's hidden under 99 ranch but it's really good. Their Hong Kong style milk tea tastes really fresh. The little ice sculpture makes them even cuter!! The pricing ranges from $5-$20 if you get their sizzling plate. Their hot plate food was delicious, but be careful if you plan to bring younger children as it can be dangerous. Service is great and their spoons and napkins are hidden in the side of the tables. I got their condensed milk with toast as I was only there to try their drinks and it wasn't the best. Bread tastes stale. We went before dinner time so it wasn't busy at all. Very quiet. read more

Awesome experience! Came on a weekend, and sat down quickly. Ordered and food came out speedy. Flavors were good and orices were fair. We really enjoyed the beef handmade noodles and the fish corn noodles dish. The curry and steak was on my ok. Would definitely come back to try more. read more

The name of the cafe in Chinese is translated as Hong Kong cafe . The menu is more Taiwanese and fusion , not exactly HK style. We had the baked seafood in cream cheese sauce rice . The white cream sauce is very tasty . It has two giant mussels, shrimps , salt & pepper fish and cuttlefish. The sauce was absorbed by the rice but it tasted good . We had also ordered curry brisket with rice . The rice was served separately and I liked it has lots of carrot in big church and potatoes. Today the curry sauce was not as thick as it should be and was too salty . The brisket and tendons were good but quite disappointing with the curry . Came here on a Saturday shortly after they opened, and the place was already pretty packed. It's conveniently located right next to 99 Ranch. Restaurant has a clean and cute decorated interior. Teppan beef was tender, and seasoned well - could've used just a touch more sauce. The braised pork and noodle was flavorful, loved the pickled Chinese greens too . The garlic chicken wings were fresh and perfectly crispy with good flavor and juicy meat. The milk tea with the bear was adorable and very amusing. It was our first time here today for dinner. My fiancé ordered the Tom yum seafood noodle soup and I ordered the pork chop curry with rice (you can have it spaghetti instead if you wish). We also both ordered the Hong Kong style milk tea. I tried some of the Tom yum seafood noodles and it was delish. The noodles were thick and al dente, with an abundance of seafood in it such as calamari, shrimp, mussel, along with mushrooms and tomatoes. My curry was also delicious with a tiny bit of spicy kick to it, with visible pieces of red chili in it. The pork chop was served inside of the curry bowl/cup. It would have been better if they had just put the pork chop on the plate with the rice and have the curry separate from it. Overall, service was quick and we would definitely return to try their other food. It's nice to have a cha chaan teng close to where we live. read more
