Tried this place for the first time and I can definitely say I'll be back. There was a 25 min wait to get seated but the service once inside was very quick. I enjoyed my grits very much and the bacon was nice and crispy! The banana walnut pancake was great too and the mimosas were strong lol! My boyfriend and I stopped In to try the brown sugar salmon that he had been raving about. When we got to flipside café they were about to close So we decided to sit at the bar. Our bartender was friendly and they were playing the Olympics which was a plus. Unfortunately the brown sugar salmon is a lunch menu item .They do have a dinner salmon on the menu but we were really hoping to try the brown sugar salmon. I opted for the crabcakes and spinach salad. Honestly I didn't care for either. The salad was tossed in a balsamic my vinaigrette, how ever there is barely any vinaigrette and lots of dry areas. Pleasantly surprised ! We went out in a whim as suggested by Yelp ! Group of 8 accommodated quickly . The crab cake BLT was delicious. The brioche bun was soft and buttery . First time and will not be the last. Went on a Monday morning around 10am. It wasn't crowded and staff was very attentive. Our waiter was very friendly and personable. We ordered the lobster omelet, shrimp and grits and blueberry pancakes. Omelet was loaded with lobster and tasted very good (I didn't even reach for the salt & pepper). This is my 4 th time visiting this restaurant and I am not pleased with today's visit it was disappointing. I am a regular customer. I ordered a cup of hot water with lemon The waitress brought a cup with honey and lemon , the cup was empty which was odd- then she requested a person to bring over the hot water. The waitress placed a cup of hot water in front of me- now I have two cups in front of me- odd. I requested a hot water container instead- she then said "I can get that" she then proceeded to have a snarky response "do you want me to pour the water into the cup.... " for you " exceptional customer service is essential to the success of any business. let's focus our attention on better customer service experience. It's best to reserve a table beforehand as we did, because there is going to be a line of people waiting to get in with no reservations. We had a table for six waiting for us when we arrived. We started our morning with a delicious cup of coffee! It was delicious! Try honey instead of sugar - yum! The mimosas were delightful as well - with a choice of the traditional orange juice, cranberry or pineapple and they are only $4 on Sundays! Our table enjoyed the fried chicken and waffles with a choice of plain warm syrup or one filled with pecans and a side of fruit. The waffle was cooked to perfection - light and airy! We also had the lobster omelet filled with succulent lobster and veggies. The cheddar grits were creamy, cheesy and filled with southern hospitality! Quite possibly might be my favorite breakfast I've had in the Charlotte area. Flipside cafe is super unassuming in a like a strip mall shopping center. Upon walking in I was instantly greeted and seated. The server came over right away, she was super friendly and did a great job taking care of our table. At the table we ordered a mimosa (yes on a Thursday afternoon don't judge me), coffee, potatoes bravas, veggie omelet, blt, and the fort mill breakfast bake. Nothing disappointed! So these potatoes omg, I'm a sucker for breakfast potatoes but these were amazing! Super crispy, well seasoned, topped with the crème fraiche, some lemony goodness, and herbs, serious perfection! The biscuit bake, so good, cast iron crust but a light fluffy biscuit, and the smoked bacon on top with cheese and gravy, oh my goodness. This cafe was a nice intro to Southern Breakfast. We bother ordered the breakfast special which included eggs, bacon, grits, and a biscuit with gravy. I had never had grits and man these were good! They had a nice cheesy flavor and a great texture. The biscuit was clearly homemade along with the gravy. Both were good. It the gravy seemed to have a little too much grease included in the roux. Though this is still a great quaint restaurant, with the freshest tasting eggs I've had, and potatoes brava amazing, I used to be a huge fan of the sloppy Joe but the pimento cheese topping has drastically morphed into a hard shred vs gooey deliciousness and they are super stingy with the onion topping which just makes you mad they even say it's a part of the sandwich. This place is amazing! The food is fresh, seasonal, and absolutely delicious. Been here many times and never had anything that wasn't fantastic. Not only is the food fabulous but the service was above and beyond. We called ahead to verify that we would be able to watch the UNC vs. App State football game (can't watch at home due to Spectrum vs. Disney debacle) and were told yes. Made a trip down to Ft Mill to check out Flipside Cafe today for lunch. I had been years ago and was happy to see that they have since expanded and essentially doubled the seating. We were quickly given a table. Our waiter was very friendly but the service could have been better - we had to ask a few times for things we needed - straws, silverware, more drinks etc. The food was great!. For apps we had the pimento cheese with the pretzels - it comes with 2 pretzels but you can request they add on however many you want for an additional fee. I had the Fried green tomato BLT with the truffle fries. I really love their pimento cheese, so good! I would like to go back for brunch sometime. For sure a must try if in the area! read more
