Too small a place to go for a good experience. We went there and put our name on the waitlist, which was 25 mins. This place is in a strip mall type location, so there is nothing to do or place to seat while you wait. We drove to run an errand and got the call after some time to come over. We said we will be there in 10 mins but they refused and assigned table to someone else. They put us in waiting list with 25-40 min wait now!!! How rude? There time is valuable but customer's is not. I would never go here again or recommend it to others unless you like to get tossed around by a crowded mediocre place to grab a bite. read more

Checked this place out the other weekend with what was originally going to be a large group. I had called and made reservations for 10 on Wednesday (for Saturday) and our group ended up dwindling down to 6. No worries though, they were expecting us and it actually worked out because they were waiting on one other family to push tables together to accommodate our party, but since we had already "shrank" we were able to sit right away (and early). They were super busy (as expected on a Saturday morning) but our server was welcoming and got us started on drinks. Everything on the menu looked/sounded delicious. We also had a vegetarian in our group, so breakfast is never really the easiest meal for her, but they had the soy chorizo as an option and she was quite happy after the meal. I had the chicken and waffles and was pretty impressed. I usually go for something with eggs, but we ended up having an extra order of eggs that we split so win-win for me. As the food was coming out, there was a bit of syrup spilled on the floor due to the server carrying too many plates. Non-issue, but the staff came over and cleaned i up right away (it was under my chair). They were super apologetic, but I totally get it - accidents do happen. I am just glad the syrup didn't fall on my head or down my shirt :). Overall the Flipside cafe was a great dining experience. There was a big wait at the door as we were leaving so that is usually a good sign of a good business (worth waiting for). Came here for breakfast, and it did not disappoint. The restaurant itself it's cute and modern at the same time, with odes to southern staples- like pimento cheese and BBQ. There is also a board with all the local farms, markets, gardens they utilize in their restaurant. Which, I'll admit, I'm a sucker for places that support local. The breakfast itself was good, nothing over the top, but good. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the sausage gravy was delicious. The biscuit itself was a little dry, even with the gravy. I went for the upcharge and got their roasted potatoes, and honestly, I didn't think they were worth it. Some were burnt and some were pretty raw. The bacon was perfectly cooked...crispy and melt-y all at the same time. The coffee falls in the "good coffee" category - robust, flavorful and smooth - I'd take a cup of that any day! First impression walking up was lack luster bc cant get a vibe with the tinted windows so i looked up online. Walking in, immediately greeted by the most friendliest hostess Ive ever encountered. This place was HOPPING on a Sunday morning, but the tables turned pretty quickly and we got in after a short 15-minute wait. We were greeted and seated promptly, and Rachel got us started with some waters. Coffee and an excellent breakfast followed. I got the skittle grits (amazing) with fresh scrambled eggs on the side (piping hot), my companion got the veggie omelet with fresh fruit. The food came out quickly and Rachel made sure we had fresh coffee, water, anything we needed. I watched as Rachel managed the rest of her tables with real attention and smiling service. My dining mates and I had dinner here for the first time. What a wonderful culinary experience. The ambience was comfortable, the staff friendly and accomodating and the food most wonderful in all ways: attractive plating, good portions, reasonable prices but most of all downright delicious. We shared appetizers of avocado stuffed bread, crab cakes, fried brussel sprouts, white cheddar pimento cheese, plus autumn squash soup, tomato soup , entrees of chicken salad sandwich, beef on weck and the Flipside burger with a side of grilled asparagus. Everything just delicious, well seasoned nothing overly salty or spicy. We would certainly return and try different menu choices. The waffle is a go to favorite. The chicken monte cristo is a new favorite ad well. For lunch Amy's pimento cheese with preTzels is a must and also the balsamic glazed Brussels. So good. Then follow with the original flip side burger (pimento cheese again!) and the flip side shrimp and grits. You will not leave disappointed or hungry that's for sure! Went here for Christmas lunch with my mother and sister. Started off with a few appetizers. Crisp crab cakes, fried pepperjack cheese and tomatoes bisque soup all delicious! I went looking for a restaurant that served good food at 11am for an early lunch near a dear friends' home. When I placed her address in Yelp, Fireside Cafe came up as a possible option. I was not disappointed! The staff from the hostess to waitresses were friendly and accommodating (my friend has a 1.5yr old). Because we came early, they were still serving breakfast/brunch items. She ordered the pancakes and side order of cheese grits while I did coin toss for either the lobster omelette or the Eggs Benedict. The Lobster Omelette won! The market price was very reasonable for the amount of lobster inside the omelette.I recommend pairing it with the Carolina Cheese Grits with apple bacon jam. If you can (though everyone was very good with their customers), I would recommend having Jerri as your waitress. She was attentive yet gave us time to visit with each other. Her customer service went above and beyond as she made even a toddler feel important. Though it's 20 miles from my house to the cafe, I will definitely be returning as I still need to try the Eggs Benedict. read more

My friend recommended this place and I'm having a hard time understanding why. I ordered the chicken and waffles but wanted to substitute pancakes for the waffle. There was an up charge for one regular pancake in place of the waffle. ‍ Not a grain of salt was used on that chicken...not one grain...absolutely NO flavor. Additionally, I had to add salt to my side of grits. My son ordered a steak medium well, it came medium rare. The reason why I'm giving this eatery 3 stars is because my picky eater ate her French toast, my hubby's steak was decent (he added salt before tasting), and the service (waitress was training) was good. read more
