I'm really confused as to how this place has so many positive reviews. Let me start with the pros. Parking was easy. There's a huge parking lot with plenty of parking. The staff was very friendly and the place was very comfortable. This place gets crazy busy so go out your name on the list and sit in your car. No reservations. I ended up finding seats at the bar. I ordered mimosa flight and chicken and waffles. The mimosas were great. No complaints. The waffle was amazing for a waffle. Unfortunately the chicken was over cooked and very dry. Don't want to speak to how it was seasoned because it was too dry to get a good feel for taste. Again, the people there are super friendly and the food came out fast. I'm hoping this was a one time bad mean given how many positive reviews this play gets. Will I go back? Yea, I'm going to give it another shot. All of those great reviews can't be wrong. read more

Top-notch! The service here is very friendly, but not always attentive. The restaurant is clean and well decorated with a nice comfortable atmosphere. The food was inventive and flavorful. The Panzanella salad is a little misleading as it is not really a Panzanella, but a salad with croutons; it was still delicious though. The squash bisque was incredible - a wonderful combination of flavors. My friend ordered a Philly cheesesteak that came on regular bread and not on a hoagie roll, so I cannot fully endorse this as a cheesesteak; however, my friend said it was very flavorful and delicious. Tuesdays is half off glasses of wine so that was a wonderful treat. I also love that they have a seasonal menu, so that new items are always revolving into the mix. Just for your information, if you want to drink on Sunday, you should arrive after 10am. Before 10am they are dry. It's a law or something. And I learned that the hard way. Came here early one morning because it's a place nearby that I always see very busy. I wanted coffee, good food and good atmosphere, and that's exactly what I got. I ordered the Banana French Toast and drip coffee. I'm very picky with coffee, but I have to say, this place does it right. Not watered down, weak coffee. And they keep it coming! I was so pleased, I can't wait to go back. I left feeling jittery and caffineated. Lol! Service is great, patrons are friendly. I really enjoyed my morning here with my friend. Was in the area looking at houses and this place came recommended by someone that lives nearby, so I stopped in for lunch. Tables were packed but the bar was open so I went there. Ordered the BBQ sloppy Joe and I'll honestly be thinking about it for a while. Ground beef was perfectly seasoned and the pimento cheese gave it a great creamy texture that melted in my mouth. A little tough to eat (it says it in the name after all) but it works out well because you then have loaded fries once you're done with the sandwich. Prices were very reasonable as well. After this meal I might have to move to be closer to this place! read more

I have no complaints about this place. I came here bc I read views about a lobster omlet that I wanted to try. I arrived around 11:20-ish and was told they stop cooking breakfast items after 11am. I was kinda bummed about that because I don't live in the area and it will be highly unlike that I will arrive back anytime soon before 11am. So just an FYI, if you want breakfast items here, go before 11am. Service wise, our lady was extremely polite and sweet. I wanted to tip her more than I left, but had no idea that they charged $3.25 for a kids soda. After paying for my $16.00 meal, an $7.85 kid burger plate, kids soda, a couple cents for a card up charge and taxes, my meal came up to $30.00. For me, this was Out of my budget for a lunch, but it was very flavorful. Just weird that i had to pay for a kids drink outside of a kids meal, and the kid didn't even drink all the soda. If you are a parent, im sure you understand my pain, lol! Anyway, give this place a try, I don't think you will be disappointed. It's a small space so it would not be ideal (for me) for large parties. Very intimate space like a date or meet up with a friend or a solo treat. It's in a plaza so plenty of parking. read more

I've been to the Rock Hill location and had the Shrimp & Grits which was excellent. Today I went to the Fort Mill location for an early dinner. I had the pecan crusted NC trout and got the steak & cheese patty melt 'to go'. Both were very disappointing. The trout was a very small portion and it had very little flavor. It was also overwhelmed with the risotto which as not very good. The Melt was not good at all. The steak was chewy with little flavor. It was covered with american cheese which overwhelmed the flavor and had very little seasoning. The service was excellent, Rachel was great a made me feel right at home. If I return I will not order these two entree's again. read more

This industrial décor restaurant has some great food and service. Our waiter was wonderful, very pleasant and friendly. We started with the Smoked Peach Old Fashioned and a coke. While my old fashioned was very good, it wasn't smoked and didn't even have a smoky taste. That was disappointing. Hubby and I both got the BBQ sloppy joes with sweet potato fries. The bun was a caramel colored and pillowy soft, lightly toasted and so buttery good. It covered a mound of sweet BBQ ground beef that had a layer of pimento cheese and crispy onions. You couldn't really taste the pimento as it was overpowered by the BBQ sauce, but I was still glad it was there. The crispy onions were a great compliment to the BBQ sauce. The sweet potato fries were nicely cooked, crispy on the outside with great flavor. We were too full for dessert but they did sound good. The bill was $42 and would recommend this place. read more

Seated in the cafe near the door. Every time someone came in or out, there was a blast of cold air. Had to wear my coat the whole time. I had a BLT and it was very large sandwich so I only ate half. The tomato soup was excellent! Trying for a healthy choice, my husband had a grilled chicken salad. It had apple slices, granola and dried cranberries. It was a sugar overload and in spite of it tasting good,,,just so full or sugar...not such a healthy choice. This is one of those situations that you wish you can give less than one star....Morgan was our waitress for all of five minutes because she basically chased us out with her absolutely horrible attitude it seemed like when we came in we disturbed her meal or something because she was eating on the back counter and came over with her mouth chewing food then rolled her eyes while in the process of trying to talk to us... this was supposed to be a very simple transaction because all we had wanted was soup and it seemed like it was an issue... I can't believe that they tolerate her having an attitude towards customers like that there was a table behind us that was already complaining about how their food was cold and how she seemed like she didn't care and they even try to fucking down another waitress and all the other waitress did was go look at the same Morgan girl. We had dinner here on a Friday night. It wasn't too crowded and we were seated right away. We started with the crab cakes and tomato bisque. I really liked the texture of the croutons on top of the soup. The crab cakes were just ok, not my favorite. Seemed like more breading is used and the crab meat was not lump style. I ordered the shrimp and grits and sad to share this dish was disappointing. There were too many cherry tomatoes and they weren't cooked down. The grits tasted watery and the overall flavor was a miss for me. My husband ordered the mojo pork loin. His dish had good flavor. Both of our entrees could have used some refinement. On a positive note, our service was very good. Based on this experience, I'm not sure we would be back or would be a better lunch / brunch spot. read more

I've been wanting to try this place for a while and was excited to stop in today. We were seated and greeted right away. The service overall was decent, just okay. We ordered the chicken salad sandwich and the original Flip Side burger with sweet potato fries and Brussels sprouts. The chicken salad was tasty, but the hamburger bun didn't really do it justice...It would've been better on a different type of bread. Our favorite was definitely the burger. First off the food.. omg. I have yet to have a dish at any of the flip side restaurants that I didn't like. Everything is delicious. You always leave full and satisfied. The restaurant is decorated super cute and feels like home. I had the braised short ribs, the salad, and a banana desert. I wish I took pictures! I will definitely be going back. Randomly discovered this place one weekend when my wife and I were having to use the nearby laundromat after our dryer died on us. We had never even heard of this place and had no idea what to expect, but WOW! What an outstanding restaurant! I prefer the Rock Hill location as it is not as cramped as the Fort Mill one. Menu is the same at both places. We were here for a business lunch as I owed a guy who did me a favor, so my treat. Tables are very close together and it is noisy. It is popular and well known by the locals. I had their original burger, at big one it is ($12) with iced tea ($3 each). This is a very cute restaurant. The ambience is super chill and the staff is very friendly. But of course the highlight was the food. Starting with my shrimp and grits which was out of this world wonderful. I've had a lot of shrimp and grits in my time, but this had the most wonderful smoky flavor that permeated the andouille sausage, the tomatoes and the sauce. My husband had the chicken and waffles. The chicken breast chunks were lightly battered with a wonderfully seasoned coating and was very tender. The waffles were fine. After many people telling me I needed to try this place for brunch, we finally met up with friends to try it! It's a busy place, but the wait wasn't long. We came at 11 on a Saturday and there was a 20 minute wait for 4 people. Our server was super nice and friendly. We got the Fort Mill Biscuit Bake and the Fried Chicken Monte Cristo. The Fort Mill Biscuit Bake is probably one of my favorite brunch items I've ever had. It was delicious and I highly recommend trying it. The Fried Chicken Monte Cristo was good too, but I wanted a little more gravy. There were plenty of other things on the menu I wanted to try so I'd definitely want to come back. I've also heard good things about Salmeri's Italian Kitchen (another restaurant they own), so I'll have go there soon. read more

Discovered this hidden gem today, and can see why the wait was what it was. Holy moly top 5 breakfast I've had in the area. So many choices, but i went with pecan stuffed french toast. It was amazing! Pecans where roasted just right, drizzled in caramel and the smoke transfered to the French toast. Paired it with eggs over medium and Bacon... crispy just right. We're in area for a couple of months and most Saturday we go through the process of "Where do YOu want to go", followed by "I do not know, where do You want to go", followed by a Siri search only to be shown the same fast food breakfast options. We stumbled across this place and glad we did. Services was terrific, and we enjoyed the local touch on the classics. The cheddar/pablano/bacon omelette was great!! The bacon side was very good with obviously fresh cooked (through and crunchy) and glazed with something (maple?). Coffee was fresh and not burnt, unlike most places. The waffle with bourbon/peaches looked magnificent. If the women next to me hadn't been enjoying it, I would have asked for a bite. We'll be back for lunch or dinner soon enough. My new favorite place!!!! I've eaten here before--way back when they'd first opened in Fort Mill. BTW, they served me a steller breakfast at that time. But since we moved to LKW, it's just not on my radar. Recently, I dragged hubby there on an impromptu lunch date. First of all, it has a very fun, funky, quirky vibe which I love. The atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. I'm glad to see they acquired additional space because it's always busy (though I've never had to wait for a table, but probably because I'm always there in the middle of the week for lunch. The staff are all very friendly and accommodating, very quick to greet, bring menus, get your drinks, and keep your drinks topped off throughout the meal (without having to ask!). But the food--oh so yummy! While it tends to take a little long to get to the table, but it does, it's so worth it. The pecan crusted NC mountain trout ($15) with peach chutney is a deliciously twisted little combo. I'm not big on sweet with my savory food, and generally not a fan of chutney, but I gambled and tried it and now it's my go-to. Served over creamy risotto, the combo is perfect. Plus, the asparagus is always cooked perfectly--still crisp. Ask about the daily mac. Although I am a purist and love the plain mac and cheese, they make a daily special flavor (think, meatloaf mac, etc.). Even my husband--who hates mac and cheese--could not stop shoveling this in. Yummy and creamy and oh-so-cheesy! Their crab cakes small plate is very tasty. I'm a crab cake snob, so it's rare when I love them. But these are very good. Hubby ordered BBQ baby back ribs one time, which I thought was bold since this is not a BBQ place. Let me tell you, we both think they're some of the best ribs we've ever had. Meat was so tender and moist and fell right off the bone. It's his new fave, and let me tell you, he's not easily impressed. One time, he wanted a good, old fashioned cheeseburger, which they don't actually have on the menu (they have the Original Flipside Burger, which has toppings he does not care for). We asked if they could make him a simple cheeseburger with just cheese, lettuce, tomato, and fresh onions, and they happily accommodated us. I should have taken a picture because it was the prettiest cheeseburger I've seen--lol! Hubby loved it and the truffle fries that came with it. He would definitely order this again. I went to lunch with a friend just the other day, and she absolutely loved the unconventional (served on toasted Breadsmith bread instead of a hoagie) cheesestake melt. We came to the Flipside Cafe for brunch around 1PM. We tried to call in our table ahead of time but you can only put your name down for a table in person, so we were given a wait time of 40 minutes when we arrived. However, we were seated in about 15-20 minutes. The restaurant is super crowded and tables are very close together. While everyone is required to wear masks, it is kind of difficult to social distance in such a small restaurant. I ordered the Flipside BLT and the cinnamon crunch waffle. The food came out extremely fast and piping hot. The BLT was incredible!!! Toasted sourdough bread, crispy bacon, tangy tomatoes, spicy arugula, and creamy mayo to bring it all together. The sandwich was delicious and came with a side of mixed fruit. The waffle also came with a side of fruit and was covered in cinnamon toast crunch cereal, granola, bananas, and a sticky, spicy syrup/glaze. It had the perfect amount of spice and sweetness and reminded me of fall flavors. The roasted banana pieces were my favorite. We also had a side of crispy potatoes which was delicious with their homemade ranch. The wait is definitely worth coming here. Food was great and very filling. Yum yum yum.. what can I say... the shrimp and grits at The Flipside cafe was amazeball!! The vegetables, the grits, the shrimp were all seasoned to perfection. I appreciated the fact that they observed and enforced strict Covid guidelines. Every server and bartender had masks on. My friend order eggs, bacon and a biscuit and said that the biscuit was buttery and yummy. If you're ever in the area I suggest to check out this breakfast place.
