I got their name through my insurance agent as a company that everyone has good experiences with. They did a thorough job cleaning up, sanitizing and tearing out impacted areas. We have lived in our house for 35 years and had done minimal renovations. We finally decided it was time and used The Flood Masters. They did an excellent job. Gustavo, the owner, listens to your ideas, needs and wants and will make reasonable recommendations. He was very in tune with our ideas and offered some of his own suggestions as to what would work/look best, which we usually took. Our decisions/selections went through 5 people before getting to Gustavo and if he didn't think something would look good/work he said so. There weren't many things he didn't agree with or like but when he spoke up we listened and went back to the drawing board. When seeing the finished product, we were always glad we listened to his recommendation and opinion and had changed our minds! His crew are all extremely nice and we felt comfortable leaving them to work if we weren't home. They were very respectful of our house. The first phase of the renovations lasted 2.5 months and on the last day it was sad to see the crew go, they had become like part of the family! We remodeled the entire house and absolutely love it! In only one instance of the entire project (we had a phase I and II) was there a miscommunication of what was desired and when we realized this Gustavo immediately fixed it without a problem. Some parts he out sourced, like refinishing the wood floors and custom making a glass door for the odd size shower. All of the people he out sourced to love working with him. One guy said he liked working with Gustavo because if there was something the homeowner changed their mind about upon seeing the finished product, Gustavo would make the necessary changes. He said most contractors would not "redo" something once finished, even if the homeowner did not like it! Overall, the remodeling was a pleasant and exciting experience. Called for water in my basement. Quartius Lossa came to assess the damage. Told me that it would be several thousand of dollars. Had me write a check for $1,000. For my insurance deductible. Then came back to get the water out. Broke my basement door to get his equipment in. Then nothing. I called & was told that thats for me to fix. Im a 74 year old widow. During the "polar vortex" fo 2014, one of my pipes burst, wreaking havoc in my kitchen and flooding behind the walls. I called Gus and he answered the phone, which to me was the first sign of success. While these might be small things, they are significant since I have had trouble with restoration services in the past. Here are the things that impressed me about Gus: 1. We immediately arranged a time for him visit the same day the pipe burst happened 2. He arrived on time and called 20 minutes before he showed up to remind me 3. Since this was a tentant home, I was unable to be present for the majority of work. Therefore, he texted and emailed me with very thorough updates and recommendations 4. He worked with my insurance company to ensure they understood this was a loss 5. Even though this time was very busy due to the cold snap, he still always answered his phone! 6. He not only fixed the broken pipe, but he also surrounded it with insulation so that this would not happen again 7. He gave me other tips for how to prevent this from happening in the future (such as leave warm water running during cold snaps, which I didn't know) 8. He dried out the kitchen to prevent mold 9. Bottom Line Up Front: Flood Masters is the most reliable, detail oriented, and honest contractor I have ever worked with and I will never go anywhere else. I say this as a person with a lot of (bad) experiences and someone that tried many options... highly rated on Angie's Lists, Yelp, and personal recommendations. My experience ranges from known name brands to friends of friends and the story is all the same... the schedule is typically three times what they claim, there are always gotcha hidden upgrade fees, and the quality is just terrible resulting in re-work. Do yourself a favor and go to Flood Masters so you only have to go through the process once. We bought and remodeled a 4 story townhouse in Arlington piece by piece to include a kitchen, 3 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, replacing wood floors, painting, new windows, blinds, adding recessed lights, you name it and I've been through it. The stories would scare anyone from taking on this project, but I will start with my Flood Masters story. We were in the process of moving to California and planned to rent our newly renovated townhouse in Arlington. Even had a tenant lined up to move in June 1st so only 15 days unoccupied. Everything seemed perfect until the movers uninstalled an Ikea wall unit and high-pressure water started gushing out of the wall breaking through the drywall and flooding the carpets. We shut off main water, but the water continued coming at intense pressure. Of course this was happening on the fourth floor so water was just running down the entire house filling each level and we had no idea what to do. We called Flood Masters and they had someone on site within 15 minutes. Turns out the Ikea installed wall unit was anchored into an emergency water pipe (sprinkler system) so they helped locate and shut off the emergency water lines and even used a garden hose to redirect the lingering water to a bathtub. They were able to act quickly to mitigate the damage opening up walls, bringing in large blowers, etc. Unfortunately overnight more water was released despite the water being off. In the end we had to replace most of the drywall on ceilings and walls in the entire townhouse. All the floors (new hardwoods and carpets) were ripped up to be replaced as well due to warping and potential mold. It took two weeks working with insurance on the next steps and finding someone to do residential emergency water repair. Our tenant was willing to wait, but had a very limited window they could wait to move in without finding alternate housing. Flood Masters worked with our insurance company to negotiate the repair cost and agreed to complete the entire job within 2 weeks allowing one day for cleaners before the tenant moved into the townhouse. There was no buffer in the schedule and I was tense. Despite many challenges including a second leak by a poorly installed vanity two days before the completion date they made it happen. They even replaced the leaking vanity the following day going out of their way to find something suitable to my space and taste that was available immediately. Every time they called with an issue they were also calling with a solution - I felt like they understood how important it was to me to get the place rented and want above and beyond to make it happen on time. My cleaners even called me after they cleaned saying how much nicer the place was than when I lived there. Keep in mind I had just had it all renovated, but the work was poor quality and everything Flood Masers did was better quality. The attention to detail from actively involved management was clear and is a huge difference. My brand new hardwood floors (Lumber Liquidators and InstallPros as recommended by them) had the most obvious dips and weak spots with squeaking that would sink you could imagine that were obvious to the naked eye and just casual walking even with rugs. My vanity installed by someone else never had working hot water after a year and due to improper installation of the hot water shut off valve caused a huge leak in my place damaging the vanity and the ceiling below. My painters did not fix edges to be straight lines and used only one coat of paint in many places. I had none of these issues with the work that Flood Masters completed. I really cannot recommend them enough. I could go on for hours about prior bad experiences and I promise you there are a lot of crappy contractors out there with empty promises on timelines, unskilled workers, and negligent management. Home Doctor, Virginia Kitchen and Bath (VKB), Ken Middleton of IC Remodeling as recommended by The Tile Shop in Tysons.... I have horror stories with all of them (and more individuals). There are too many terrible (unskilled, out for profit, and lazy) contractors out there to take changes... go to Flood Masters and worry less. If you are under considerable stress and searching for the best company to repair unexpected and anxiety-provoking water damage, a broken pipe, or other flooding issue in your home or business, go no further. Flood Masters is hands down the BEST company you can turn to. As the owner of three (3) homes and one rental property, I have for long decades dealt with every conceivable home service outfit you can imagine: heating, ventilation & air conditioning (HVAC), painters, handymen, electricians, roofing repair, boiler installation & repair, window & door repair, damaged screens, chimney sweeps, winterization companies, vermin & pest control companies... The list goes on... I can tell you to a certainty that Flood Masters is far and away the single best company I have ever turned to. Recent frigid temperatures that plunged down to the single-digits caused a pipe in our attic to freeze and burst in our northern Virginia home. The damage was horrific and terrifying: water gushing down from ceilings and running down through three stories of our house (upstairs hallways and bedroom, kitchen, and basement). The damage was a terrible shock to us: soaked drywall, sagging ceilings, sopping wet insulation, saturated floor & crown molding, wet lighting fixtures and so much more. The owner himself quickly replied to our anguished S.O.S., came out right away to assess the damage, calmed and assured us we would be okay, and quickly set up a schedule to restore our home in a surprisingly brief period of time. The dry-out process was a snap: wet drywall and insulation removed and carried away. To our surprise, the workers told us that all of the ceiling and floor molding, which they had removed, was fine, usable, and would not an additional expense. Flood Masters brought in a total of fifteen (15) heaters, air circulators and dehumidifiers to dry out the house. I was immediately struck with what great condition this equipment was in, all of the machines were obviously well-maintained. The rebuild process was incredible. The workers did a breathtaking and exquisite job of putting up new drywall, patching, priming, painting and sealing seams all restored walls, ceilings, molding and seams. The crew was professional, hard-working, cheerful and obviously enjoyed & cared about their work. They took pains to protect all of the floors, furniture and items in our house, putting down drop cloths on all floors, and sealing off all furniture, countertops and other areas with plastic sheeting. When the job was complete, they swept and vacuumed the house thoroughly and left the premises in immaculate condition - and I mean immaculate! Bonus: The walls they painted with a brand new coat of primer & paint looked infinitely better and cleaner than our old walls before the disaster struck! Flood Masters is a priceless resource. Do yourself a favor and call them now! You won't find a better company to restore your home to its original condition. Called them on Friday to have them come look at some water damage in my condo in Annandale. We set up an appointment for the next day, Saturday, at 11 am. Drive from my house in Chantilly to my condo in Annandale. I get there at 11 am, no sign of Flood Masters. I call them at 11:10. They don't pick up, I leave a message. Up until 11:30, I call several more times, no one picks up. I give up at 11:30 and go home. So that was good. I do enjoy leaving my wife and kid at home on Saturday morning and spending 2 hours out of my day doing nothing. Good times. It's Monday morning. Still no phone call, no explanation, nothing. It is frustrating enough to not be able to be there to do things myself, but when one of the few companies that gets good reviews on Yelp doesn't call you back after 2 times, I wonder if they are really a good company... read more

He assessed the damage, explained the process and called in his team who also was on site in less than thirty minutes!!! Like many people in NoVA, the polar vortex froze some plumbing in my home, which led to some water damage to my basement floor. I had been loyal to a particular Servpro branch in the area but with so much competing business due to the weather (they said they had so many service calls from other people with water damage due to frozen pipes) I guess my minor flood was small potatoes. Servpro did not show up when they said they would, and so I had to get desperate and start calling around. I found Flood Masters via yelp and fingers crossed gave them a call. Gus answered and although he was swamped already, said he would fit me in. He found the time to fit me in at midnight that night. I know that sounds crazy but when you have water in your home, and everyone is booked, you fit it in when you can. Gus was working around the clock already and I was happy to set an alarm to meet him at my front door in the middle of the night. He expertly set up the necessary equipment and has been back twice for follow-up. He has been conveniently working with my insurance company as well. So far his follow up has been reliable and, although we are not done with this project, I feel comfortable logging in here and giving him a great review. read more

From the beginning i knew this was the right company for me to hire bc they last minute came out to my flooded basement and were able to start right away. My AC unit leaked while i was away on vacation and needed immediate attention and immediate action. "Wow" is all I can say about TFM. My wife and I bought a place in Capital Hill that needed a major remodel. I was asking around about contractors to some buddies of mine at work, and one of them strongly suggested Flood Masters. Turns out they had done his parents house in Georgetown, which I had been to and the place looked PHENOMENAL. With their name being "The Flood Masters" my wife was a little hesitant with their expertise in restoration and remodeling. We met with 3 different contractors and Gustavo (Gus) was hands down the most knowledgeable. We felt confident that these guys had their stuff together and could do the work. Gus was always super quick with responding to questions and giving us updates. The guys that worked at our property were always courteous and cleaned up everything before they left at night... The job did go over schedule about 3 days, but Gus was involved in ensuring that all the finishes were absolutely perfect. He also worked with my wife on designing the kitchen and bathrooms and gave us great tips on maximizing space. After seeing the finished product I can truly say that all his advice was spot on. My wife is a very picky woman and when she saw the place she totally burst into tears! Man, that made my day. We called them out to do a water damage estimate for one of our properties on 9/23 and they had an appointment for that weekend. The next week we had to reach out to them to find out the results and they only told us that they couldn't determine the leak source and would need to cut open dry wall. It is now 10/4 and we still don't have a written report or anything to determine the findings. I would not recommend this company if you have a time sensitive issue. read more

I am only giving the Flood Masters five stars because there is no option to give them 10. I cannot stress how fortunate we feel to have found Gus and his team after we came home to pretty significant water damage after vacation. We were able to reach Gus immediately, and his team began the process of airing out everything that had gotten wet very soon after we first noticed the problem. Gus came to check on the equipment and the drying process several times until everything was dry. From there, the Flood Masters sprung into action rebuilding one of our ceilings and our kitchen floor. This was a pretty big job that involved drywalling, painting multiple surfaces, replacing floorboards and installing hardwood flooring. Throughout the entire process, all of the workers we had in our home were courteous, cleaned up after themselves, and were happy to give us updates regarding their progress. Having just finished their work in our home today, I can honestly say that there is no way anyone who walks into our house today will ever know the extent of the water damage we had when we first called Gus. Their work is absolutely terrific. We cannot recommend this company strongly enough. My carpets are beautiful! This is a great company and they offer great customer service! Reza (one of the owners) personally over saw the restoration work and the carpet clean up. Gustavo (the other owner) was very professional on the phone and really made me feel at ease. This was an emergency situation and they were there for me and helped and best of all they offered VERY competitive pricing!! I can't sing their praises enough and I will definitely tell me friends and family to use The Flood Masters. Also, they are now my 'go to' company for carpet cleaning services...I have a dog and I like to get my carpets cleaned at least twice a year. These guys are amazing and effective! I came back from an international trip to water damage all over my apartment. I needed to immediately test for water, mold, and my management company dragged its feet for 2 weeks. Then, other companies required me to pay a $200 "travel" fee on top of doing the testing. I called The Flood Masters to ask for a quote and they ended up showing up the SAME DAY and taking all the samples they needed. What is wrong with your phones and ability to handle customers? I tried calling several times yesterday, it rings and rings and then goes to messaging. I left a message. This morning I tried calling a few more times. Finally I tried the "emergency" number which seems to result in dialing into the same phones. However, finally there is an answer, it's Gus. He said he never got a message left yesterday. We talked about my situation and he said he can meet with me at 12:30pm the same day. But I was just going into work and said I would confirm in a few minutes. He gave me a "personal number" to call him right back. A few minutes later I call back to confirm and the personal number goes right to voice mail. Try the emergency number and there is no answer again. Try both numbers back and forth for almost two hours and still nothing. He also took my phone number and never tried calling me back either. Most customers will give up on you way before I did.
