Our experience with The Floor Store has been absolutely infuriating. I have been calling, texting, and emailing back and forth for literally months to arrange for our master closest hardwood to be installed with the same done in the rest of the house. I was given a quote, all square footage was submitted, etc, and now I can't get a call back, an invoice to pay, or a date scheduled. Our closet builder is long scheduled and The Floor Store is aware that we are in a tight timeline now that this has dragged on and all I get are "will call you back in half hour" or "will follow up on Monday" with absolutely neither actually occurring. We spent multiple thousands of dollars here already and our install was poorly done, told it was under warranty and would be corrected, submitted all the photos etc, and there was no follow through. I was really happy with our service initially and jumped right into our first contract with them. I felt Steve was so attentive. In speaking with both Steve and Joe regularly to try and move our business forward over these last few weeks and getting absolutely NOTHING in return, I cannot recommend enough not going through this store for your flooring needs. read more

Luxury vinyl planks..... the buying process was easy w a great financing option, 0% APR for 18 months. The gentlemen who installed the flooring were beyond incredible! Emmanuel and Giovanni worked together and did an amazing job and truly went above and beyond to make sure I was happy. Emmanuel pointed out some flaws w how my baseboards were installed and pointed out some flaws w how the old laminate flooring was installed. We had a positive experience with The Floor Store on Almaden. We have spent the pandemic remodeling our home as a do it yourself project, rewiring, re-flooring, new kitchen. We spent a lot of money at Home Depot and Lowe's. We expected to buy the flooring from one of those places as well but walked into The Floor Store for some comparison shopping. Joe Mariscal was friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable while giving us time and space to make our own decisions. It was an easy decision to go with The Floor Store. We took home samples, took home more samples. Joe was reachable by phone and email. He kept us informed of when our order would be in and offered himself as a person to ask if we hit a snag in our do it yourself installation (we were fine). We really had a great experience working with Adam at the San Jose location. He was very attentive and answered all our questions. He helped us with our selection understanding our needs with wheelchair usage and checked in and followed up with us constantly to make sure all was in order. I went to the floor store as a recommendation and it was a big mistake. My flooring required plywood in some sections before the LVP could be installed and the measurement used by the installer was wrong, but the floor store could not admit their mistake. Secondly, when the flooring was starting to lift in certain areas because the planks were installed too tight, they wouldn't send anyone out to check it out. Would not recommend this store and will not use them again. read more

Pamela is very friendly and knowledge about the products and with her background in interior design she helped us pick out sample flooring to take home so we can see which one will work best with our kitchen cabinets. Do not do businesses here. The management is apathetic, unresponsive, unprofessional..a big "un". We spent over an hour selecting materials and was provided a fair estimate. It took weeks for the rep to come onsite for inspection. Was told almost $600 difference for portion of floor. Way off from estimate. Flooring consultation happened early October. Lack of follow up and professionalism killed the deal. I guess this place loves paying employees without a care for revenue. read more

I came in 30 mins before closing to look for carpet that I needed within the week. Even though it was close to closing time Steve willingly helped. Steve was there and helped me through the whole process of looking for the right carpet type. He made sure we were able to find the carpet that fit our needs and wants! Unfortunately I wasn't able to make a purchase through them but Steve followed up and was still very kind and helpful even after. If ever need carpet and/or flooring I definitely would be back and work directly with Steve! He's very patient and knowledgeable! Really good pricing there as well! read more

Adam was very helpful providing details on the SPC plank and engineered floors that we were inquiring. He also assisted us on the floor samples that we took home to test colors in our house. They have a huge selection for hardwood, vinyl and carpet. We still deciding the type and color so we actually have not purchase yet. I had a very pleasant experience when I walked into the Almaden store and was promptly greeted by a friendly face, Eva M. They were having a Presidents Day sale that weekend and I asked to see their selection of LVP flooring. Eva directed me to the LVP section and gave me some time to look around. She was very attentive and listened to what I was looking for in a flooring option (ie waterproof, sound transmission, durable, etc). She answered all of my questions and helped me pick a product that I believe checked all of the boxes. She was always pleasant and friendly and a professional throughout our interaction from the beginning to the end of the buying process. We just visited the new Floor Store on Almaden Expressway in San Jose.  A very nice store with great inventory and lots of choices. We just pulled all the carpet from a 1,600 sq ft. townhome and want to replace it with wood laminate. We've never done this before, so we had no idea where to start. He is extremely knowledgeable about flooring products and installation.  He spent a lot of time helping us -- and after carefully listening to our needs, suggested waterproof laminate for longevity. Not super happy about this place. The salesman who tried to help us pick out some flooring wouldn't answer any of our questions. When we asked a question, he just said whatever he wanted to say, which contained no information answering our question. When we asked him to help us find a specific flooring type, he just said "just pick something that looks nice, they're all the same". The nail in the casket was the sales man DROPPED the flooring on my foot. Was really not happy about that. There were lots of samples of floors to choose from, but if they're all the same then why are there so many? There was little to no signage directing customers to a certain flooring section to guide customers to something we're looking for. One might expect one area to be labeled "carpet" or "vinyl" flooring, but things were scattered about. If the salesman can't help customers, atleast have some literature or flowchart to direct customers to what they're looking for. There was even a wooden pallet laying in the middle of the store - quite the tripping hazard. If this is what their front office looks and feels like, I can't imagine what mess their back office is. Bottom line - unprofessional, unhelpful and borderline creepy. read more

Called to make an appointment for an estimate and because of the advertisement they were running sounded good but it was just to get you in. Steve said come on in and we would talk, I thought that was odd, I just thought he would make an appointment to give me an estimate. When the wife and I went there we talked about the sale of 50% off but that was just for old stock sort of product. We looked some vinyl planking and everything was two to three times the price of other stores like Home Depot and Lowes. He wrote us an estimate for the living room vinyl planking, kitchen and bathroom linoleum on a six by four inch Important Message piece of paper it was around almost $7500. This was at about 550 square feet. This is with out even looking at our house. At this point I wouldn't recommend them. read more

The floor store was great to work with. Steve helped me out tremendously. I already knew what I wanted as far as flooring but was having a hard time finding a place that had them available. I must have called 10+ places. Steve was able to call a diff store and his contact had them in stock elsewhere, he arranged to have it shipped this way in about three days. Not only did he go above and beyond in finding me the model I wanted when other places gave me a date of 6 weeks out he was able to offer it to me at an amazing competitive price. I had compared pricing in the area and Steve's willingness to work with me and after the great customer service I received they definitely earned my business. read more

Cambria called me immediately after I posted my 2* review. She answered my concerns over the carpet seeming to be separating at the seam - by sending an installer out to fix it. She also was very caring and concerned regarding an item that went missing on the day of install. I would highly recommend Cambria to deal with in any situation. Edit to my original review (changed from 2 to 4 stars)...I received a phone call from The Floor Store's corporate office the morning after I wrote my review; I was impressed with how quickly they reached out. Cambria asked me to go over my entire experience so she could understand exactly what happened. She listened and emphasized and pointed out where TFS could have done better. She worked with me to come up with a solution I thought was extremely fair. I appreciate the phone call and TFS wanting to make it right. Thank you Floor Store! I'll start by saying Alberto our installer was fantastic and I would hire him again without hesitation. I am also extremely happy with the product, our floors look beautiful, which is why I'm giving them 2 Stars. Now where The Floor Store (TFS) fell short. Steve came to our house to measure, look at our existing floors and discuss the project. When asked what was underneath our current floors, I told him nothing was under our 65 year old top nailed hardwood but I thought there may be plywood under our newer floors. I have zero construction background and know absolutely nothing about flooring so I offered to pull-up some existing flooring to confirm what was underneath, to which Steve declined. I would expect someone that has been in the business as long as Steve to realize if our existing top nailed hardwood sits level with the newer hardwood we put in during a remodel, that neither sits on plywood and must sit on the sub floor. Fast forward to installation day (phase 1 of our 2 phases of installation) and the installers come out and acted completely surprised they needed to rip up top nailed hardwood. Keep in mind, Steve knew this and I spoke to the installation company twice and told them as well. Once the floor was up, they informed us we would need to lay plywood for the entire house since there was no plywood underneath. With the cost of lumber this was an additional $2400 (just in materials) that was never discussed. After discussing the situation with Steve, our contractor was able to get TFS to agree to pay for the plywood for phase 1 ($750) but Steve said we were responsible for the extra installation cost. I was quoted an addition $700 for installation which I assumed was for our entire house and not just phase 1. I assumed this because it took one installer 3-3.5 hours to complete the job and silly me assumed no one makes $225 an hour for lying plywood on the floor. My mistake, I should have asked for clarification. Fast forward to phase 2. Given the difficulty we had during phase 1, we decided to rip up the floors ourselves and lay the plywood. I was also happy to save money doing the demo and the dump run ourselves and part of the $700 I thought was the charge to lay the plywood for the entire house. We made it through a last minute cancellation of the install and a 2 day delay to get it rescheduled. When Alberto arrived for the install, he said he would need to add some quick set where we did not install the boards tight enough. No one informed me of any additional charge to have this done or gave me the option to have my contractor do this. Once the job was complete, I was given an invoice with nothing on it, but an amount owned, no explanation of services, just a total. When I asked Steve to send a more detailed invoice, almost a week later I received an invoice with the project broken down per parts and labor for the 2 phases. I again asked for an invoice that broke down exactly what I was paying for with dollar amounts and I wanted to see where they deducted the $750 for the wood I purchased during phase 1. When I finally received a detailed invoice, no where did it show the reimbursement. I called Steve and asked about the missing deduction and he told me he didn't take the $750 off the bill because COINCIDENTLY that's what the installation company charged me to lay quick set and add additional nails to the boards we laid in phase 2. Again, I was never told of this additional charge. I told Steve how upset I was and that the additional charges seemed outrageous, over $200 an hour to lay plywood and apply quick set seemed like I was being taken advantage of. His response, "well it's expensive, they do the labor, they have tools and a truck"????? I understand there are unforeseen costs when remodeling but to add roughly 25% more is just bad business! We have one bedroom left to remodel next year but I will not be using TFS and will not recommend them to anyone! read more

I recently had a fabulous experience. From Joe Mariscal on the sales floor right through to the installation with Dave Delgado and his apprentice Santiago. I was at ease from the moment I entered the store. The staff were all wearing masks and allowed me to browse on my own and only approached when I was making my carpet choice and needed expert input. They promptly scheduled to come out and take measurements and I was put on the install schedule within days of my purchase. Joe was very helpful and knowledgeable with helping her find exactly what she wanted. The installation went smooth and now she wants to go back to do her downstairs as well. I worked with Steve at this Floor Store to select, purchase and install laminate wood flooring in my home. I was able to take large (!) samples multiple times for a few days at a time to try in my house which was very helpful in making my final choice. He even helped me load them into my car! Although we had a hiccup/delay with the ordering process in the beginning (probably due to holidays as well as Covid), once Steve got things rolling, it went smoothly and installation was scheduled with Bryan within days. Due to the delay they even moved my furniture for no charge. The fellas that came out to do the work were wonderful...timely, professional, and very accommodating considering we were three people and a dog in their way while they worked! Walter especially was top notch. He did beautiful work and obviously took pride in his craft. I so appreciated his attention to detail. While waiting for additional supplies, he even stopped by our house personally to let us know when he would be back to finish the job. He was just a great guy! After completion, they cleaned up everything like they'd never been there. I couldn't be happier with my final product! read more
