I am not sure why others think there is no variety at this buffet. I had steak, pork, chicken, a fish option, a pasta bar, salad, Mac and cheese, stuffed shells, plenty of beverage options and 5 dessert choices, and much more. All fresh. Service was good as you cannot help yourself. Only one issue which is that the salad bar line tends to back up into the payment line. They could use one more server. Tables were well spaced. Restaurant is adjacent to Grand Canyon Railway depot. I would return and try breakfast. read more

After the Polar Express we Sat down about an hour an a half before this place closed. They were already closing down an entire half of the buffet. Choices were limited but were good. I got a small plate of shrimp Alfredo and the noodles weren't drained so the Alfredo was watery and the shrimp weren't fully cooked. Salad bar was bad. When I went to get my salad plate, the toppings were nearly all empty. I went back about awhile later and still weren't restocked. So my salad ended being black olives, Cesar dressing and lettuce. My complaint is that I'm paying full price for 2 adults and a child (about 75 bucks) for lack of options and not having equal access to stuff. Also, side complaint, it was really hard to reach for stuff. I felt like people had to dip far under the glass to get stuff. read more

Fred Harvey is said to have tamed the west with his chain of restaurants along the Santa Fe Railway. This isn't that... in fact, it a disservice to sully his name with this. Buffet food of the lowest quality. Honestly, unless you got it included in a package, I wouldn't eat here (our group had a deal with our travels). The woman on the food truck at the El Tovar was very rude on Tuesday November 24th 2020. After waiting in line for 20 minutes I get up to the front. She tells me its going to be awhile, they are busy. I said , no problem, I've already been waiting so I'll don't mind. She piddled around some more then took my order. When my order was ready she's taking someone else's order so I went up to grab it like others have been doing.. She stopped and snatched it out of my hand and told me to get back, she will get it. She does not belong working in customer service! I hope you train your employees to treat customers better. One star only because it won't let me leave none! read more

I hate to give bad reviews. But I also hate wasted money and this place was a huge waste. The food was terrible. So terrible it was almost laughable... except for the hundreds of dollars that were wasted. We bought meals as part of the package at the hotel next door; room, train ride to GC, four meals. Upon arrival we went to dinner. The chicken and beef offered were unseasoned. The rolls were dry. Even the broccoli was bad; how can you mess up broccoli? next morning we thought... breakfast... can't mess up eggs and bacon. Well, we were wrong! Everything was terrible except the tator tots. So we literally ate tator tots for breakfast. I strongly advise against this place, on its own or in the package. We had two more prepaid vouchers and went and paid to eat elsewhere for the remaining meals. read more

We had the buffet breakfast. I can't say enough about the lady who makes the omelettes. They are delicious. She does an amazing job! I also had some fresh cantaloupe and sausage. It's a good breakfast for the price. I highly recommend it. We had breakfast 2 days in a row. And will tomorrow as well. read more

We decided to eat here since we were staying at the Grand Canyon railroad hotel. It was $95 for 2 adults and 3 children. The food wasn't great and to be honest, for a buffet, they had very little selection. Our waitress was very nice and provided great service. They decorated it nicely for Christmas and the Polar express event. The worst part of this place was the rude older lady who was working the cash register. She was rude when we got there, gave us looks while we ate, and as we left, she just stared at us and never said goodbye or anything. I wish we would have just chose elsewhere. Was very disappointed in the service at this restaurant. The cashier was rather rude when we first came in. This is a buffet but due to covid you have to have servers serve you, which is fine. However there were 4 of us in line for soup. The server served the first 2 then walked away with no explanation. Eventually someone else came to help us. I did notice some of the other servers were doing a great job but not all of them. Also the variety was not what we expected for $26 per person....however what they did have was excellant. The green beans were exceptionally good as was the roast beef. Our table server, Phil, was great and very attentive. Went here after boarding the train and it was not what I expected. The food was not my favorite and it was darker inside. The hostess and servers were very friendly however the food was a 2/10! In bad shape. They just don't have the man power and it was just really bad. Warmed up frozen food and salad out of bags. It was disgusting. We paid $90 for 2 adults and 2 kids. No pasta and just old cold Mac and cheese. Salad bar that was gross. The mash potatoes were good though so I ate that abs dried ribs. Felt bad actually for the people who worked there. They were nice but just didn't have the support. For what you pay the owner should pay his people more. They can do better. One note the music was nice and we did enjoy that. read more

After reading some reviews I was hesitant on eating here. It is a buffet style and in these times of Covid, I think they did a great job. You do not reach in for your own food, a server prepares your plate as you tell them what you want. There is a salad bar, roast beef station, and a pasta station. The servers were awesome!!! I highly recommend the pasta bar. Also for desserts, you tell your server what you want also, and they bring it too your table, again you can have as much as you like. As part of the vacation pkg I bought it included 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts. Dinner was bleh and not worth the money. It could be its slow going coming back from pandemic. Had a great experience here! Dinner was amazing with so many options. The restaurant was extremely clean and the staff was beyond friendly. Even with masks on, I could tell they were smiling. The gift shop attached had lots of similar items as the one next door. Would be nice if they had more kid friendly items instead of souvenirs. Especially things for the over night guests. I wish I would've saw the food before they charge me $89 for the four of us. Overall experience was very disappointing. The servers were very nice but the food and the cleanliness of the establishment was subpar. My son noticed a man washing the omelet dish in dirty water before putting his omelet in it. I also noticed another man spraying bleach on the soft serve ice cream machine and then walking away from it and then someone else pouring ice cream into a bowl right after. This is for the food truck... They have beyond burgers but the buns are not vegan which is rediculous. Most burger buns are vegan by default and apparently the staff gets asked about the buns all the time. The breakfast here is HORRIBLE. The cinnamon rolls were "fresh" yet felt hard, cold, and the icing tasted the same as the cheap stuff you could get in a gingerbread house kit. Food wasn't great and half of us didn't get to eat breakfast because the front desk told us breakfast ended at 11am and when we arrived at 10:29am to meet our party already inside they had the entrance door locked. The beef tenderloin looked like extra well done road kill. The fruit is straight out of an industrial sized can and it tastes like it. Our waiter Phil disappeared after bringing our drinks...waited over 20 minutes to get my ice tea refilled and to ask for a slice of cake (because they hold dessert hostage in the back) ended up walking out since we were very clearly being ignored. The price didn't sound bad for the breakfast buffet and since we were staying at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel it made sense for us to try it out. It was pretty much just an expanded breakfast from what I had yesterday morning included in my stay at a different hotel (a Comfort Inn). Only, now that I'm looking for the right words for an accurate review, I realize the presentation of the free breakfast at yesterday's Comfort Inn was better and the food was pretty much the same. Which is to say it was good. But not fancy or amazing in any way. Props to the employees, though. We interacted with a cashier, the host who seated us, and the server who brought us some OJ and milk and all three were super friendly which is a great way to start the day! If you're staying at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel and are looking for a quick and easy breakfast without having to leave the property, then go for it! read more

First impression, we got there around 8pm. The cashier named Marrisa, she cringed when she sees that we are using coupon from hotel them proceeded to say that it will be 1 hr wait. We said ok. We will be back in a hr. We then went around the restaurant and in the back we can see that there were so many of empty and cleaned tables available.
