He will work you 8 days in a row & then terminate you or make the workplace so uncomfortable you will need to transfer . First off, let me start off by saying that our server was great. She was extremely friendly and was apologetic because it was busy and they were short staffed. We didn't mind at all. The reason for the 2 stars is only because we paid $60 for 2 people and only half the buffet area had food, the other half was empty. The foods were mostly carbs (over cooked rice, mashed potatoes, bread rolls, Mac n cheese, pasta, etc). The only thing that was evenly remotely good was just the prime rib beef, other than that we ended up eating elsewhere right after. The foods were just bland, the salad bar was just sad, the chicken nuggets were over fried and super dry. It's a Saturday evening and it was pretty busy, so we thought maybe there'd be more food coming out. We overheard someone ask if more food will be out and they said this is all they have for the rest of the night. They need to either lower their prices or start putting out more food, specially more protein options. We ended up leaving and eating at the pub in our hotel. The whole experience was so disappointing. I understand most places are having trouble keeping staff right now so I already give lots of leeway for slower service but this was just crazy. We checked in with the host & was informed there would likely be a wait of approx. one hour for a table in the cafe or 45 min. in the lounge, so we opted to eat in the lounge giving us a shorter wait time. After an hour with no notification we wandered back in to wait at the host station. After waiting for an additional 15 minutes we watched as 3 tables left the lounge with no one going in. I wandered into the lounge and was shocked to see 7 empty tables with only 1 table seated and eating. The whole lounge only had a total of 8 tables and it was nearly empty! I asked the host if we could at least go in to have a drink while we were waiting and he said that wasn't possible. After the host noticed me coming out of the lounge he went in himself and I watched as he cleaned 2 of the already tables(the other 5 were already clean) and called us in to dine (finally!). We were given one menu and over the next 10 minutes a waitress walked by 3 times without acknowledging us at all! When she finally stopped to take our order 2 drinks & 2 burgers she came back to apologize that our drinks would take a while since there were no clean glasses available. It wasn't even busy! The place was almost empty! She finally brought my drink with our burgers however she never brought my husbands drink. (A glass of wine). After delivering our burgers I saw his wine sitting up at the bar for awhile & finally went to get it myself. I can't think of any establishment that would ever think this is good customer service & I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Stay away! You'll only be disappointed read more

Date of visit was 09/09/22 After the wonderful train ride to and from the Grand Canyon, we had a short rest at the hotel before arriving for dinner about 8PM. It's a buffet and even though there was still an hour before closing, they were already slimming down the selections so our choices were limited. We had soup, mussels, steak, pork, mashed and baked potatoes and brown gravy. Everything was pretty good. The pork needed the gravy as it was dry. We both forgot our phones so no pics. Sorry about that. The decor and ambiance are nice and there was live music. All in all a pleasant experience but the food we were able to try failed to rise above average. Let me stop you before you decide to come here unless you are super hungry for bar type food and Ok with waiting 20 minutes for Cafateria like food. This suppose buffet has mostly kid options, you are better off going to KFC if you want chicken tenders, Mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes. I tried the pasta options but the flavor was ZERO, definitely need to salt it from your table yourself. So I should complain when dinner was "included" with our Grand Canyon Package. (We did a AAA 3- Day, 4-night package and added the Polar Express train. As I write this is after my first meal here, we get breakfast tomorrow and dinner again on our last night. I must say I preferred our lunch out at the Historic brewery across the street. The buffet dinner had an OK salad bar (though hard to reach for food with the glass placement). The Turkey was moist and juicy, mixed vegetable medley was good and the beef tenderloin was good. The pork Valencia was DRY with a gelatinous onion like gravy and dry roasted and sitting in the heat lamp too long. They do offer a fresh pasta bar, which I'll try next time with higher hopes. But otherwise I'd prefer to try the local places out on Route 66. Our waiter Jade was super nice, accommodating and attentive but somebody Tomorrow since the train leaves early I'll try the Breakfast Buffett again but my hopes aren't high. Overall... mediocre at best.long roasted potatoes. screwed up our wine order. We ordered a bottle of Merlot (not the house selection) but ended up with a bottle of house Cabernet Sauvignon instead. They had already opened the bottle when it was brought to our table. So we didn't want to complain, but I wouldn't recommend the house Cabernet Sauvignon, that's for sure. read more

The food is not to temperature including the eggs, they are luke warm - not real scrambled eggs; powder and water. Bacon is microwaved. Sausage is edible. We stayed at the Grand Canyon railway hotel, and paid extra for the Fred Harvey dinner and breakfast buffet. It was horrible! Dinner: they had a salad bar, but a lot of the veggies were going bad! They had a thing of potato soup, but it was empty the entire hour we were there. They had a cut of meat that was pretty good, but they only had it well and medium well. There was 3 things that made this place bearable, live music, the staff and the pasta bar! If you looking for dinner I would would look elsewhere! I recommended pine country or historic brewing co! The service during the breakfast buffet was excellent, and while some food choices tasted good (bacon, sausage, tater tots), others left something to be desired. Scrambled eggs were almost lumpy and the hash brown potatoes were greasy and limp. My biggest complain was that although there is a rather large seating area, there was only one tray of each of the main items (bacon, eggs, sausage and potatoes). Because of this, the line of people waiting to fill their plates was longer than I've seen in buffets that had omelet stations. Since there was plenty of empty food stations, how hard would have it been to put out a second tray of each item? All in all, a convenient place to eat if you are staying at the hotel, but I certainly wouldn't come here otherwise. read more

My wife and I ate there on 07/24/24 what a waste of $60.00. The pork cutlets were so tough the knife would not cut threw it, the chicken looked burnt, the carrots were half way cooked. if you going there for mashed potatoes and Gravey this is the place to go, but for $60.00 that's a waste. Very understaffed for a busy spring break week, and you had to wait to pay then wait to be seated, not sure why they didn't let you seat yourself, considering it was a "buffet". The dinner buffet and breakfast buffet were included in the Polar Express package we purchased. The only reason to eat here is because it's EASY. It's an easy dinner before you get on or after you get off the train. Dinner buffet had very less than average to average fare food. I would compare it to Boston Market quality. Dinner buffet had nuggets, fries, pasta, beef tenderloin, Turkey breast, pork loin slices, bread, steamed/sautéed veggies, mashed potatoes etc. allergy information is displayed so this is great for families with allergies in the group. The lines are long to get in but it moves quickly. The waitress/waiter serves and clears table so they are understaffed. Breakfast was okay. Less than average pancakes with syrup, fruit, eggs, rock hard tator tots, cereal, bacon and sausage. They had a eggs Benedict which was great. Omelette station looked good but the line was too long. We saw our waitress one time the entire time and had one cup of coffee when we asked for two. We shared the one cup. Would I do this again? Maybe, yes I think so. because it's easy to drag your little kids to get one nugget and fries and pay $15-$25 when it's so close to the train ride and hotel. Definitely not worth your money. We were staying in the hotel next door and tried to go to the restaurant for breakfast. We arrived at 10:09a thinking they served breakfast until 11a, but were turned away because breakfast ended at 10a. That was disappointing, but I misread the pamphlet in my room. We ended up trying again for dinner. The food was okay, but I really didn't think there was enough variety for the price. There are also very few options if your children are picky eaters like mine. The food available was a salad bar, pasta bar, mashed potatoes, baked chicken, fish, carrots, squash, bread rolls, stuffed shells, roast, and rice pilaf. There may have been one or two other items I'm forgetting, but that was basically it. Due to COVID, we had to be served by an employee, which I totally understand, but it was annoying to have to wait in line to be served by the one worker they had back there. The server will bring you out dessert, so you can't see what they look like before you choose like you normally would at a buffet. I will say the caramel apple pie was very good. We visited the Fred Harvey restaurant as part of a breakfast and dinner package with the hotel and train ride. I think Fred Harvey would be very disappointed if he knew how his name was being used. The Fred Harvey Restaurant has only 2 things going for it: (1) It's a very short walk from the Grand Canyon Railway and Hotel, and (2) the employees were very friendly. The buffet was the worst that I have ever visited in my entire life. You can probably find something for the kids (assuming most kids will be fine with chicken nuggets and mashed potatoes), but there was no reasonable quality adult food anywhere to be found. When we went, half the buffet was closed. Despite the pictures on the ads, there was no carving station or pasta cooking station. There was basically a choice of fish (cod?) that was somewhere between lukewarm and cold, some sort of creamy potato soup, and a pathetic looking salad bar with wilted lettuce and a sparse selection of fruits and vegetables that looked like they've been sitting for a long while or came out of a can. Dessert was fine, granted we were so hungry that anything would've been better, and staff were friendly, albeit overworked and pulled in multiple directions at once. Breakfast was better, but nothing special. We ended up so disgusted by the dinner that we forfeited the second included dinner in the package. While I think breakfast will be fine, I'd recommend avoiding any package that includes a dinner. Instead, head across the tracks to historic Route 66 and find something--anything--else. read more

My girlfriend and I were struggling to find a gluten friendly option in Williams because she is Celiac, and when we arrived our server brought out Chef Ray (I believe was his name) and he was SO accommodating it kind of blew us away. He stopped by our table for replenishments probably three times and was so friendly! Not to mention that everyone on the line was very friendly as well, including the pasta maker, Jeff. Music was great, food was hot, and we were well taken care of. I had the breakfast buffet while in town because I had heard wonderful things about their breakfast. I was fairly disappointed when I walked over to the buffet and saw that the selection of food was so small, it was barely a buffet. And the amount of food available was shocking. I'm used to seeing a grand display when going to breakfast buffets. They had some fruit (mostly from a can and not fresh), cinnamon rolls that looked very dry with no icing, an omelet station, potatoes, pancakes, sausage links, bacon, and biscuits & gravy (didn't even look like breakfast gravy. It looked like gravy that comes off of hamburger when you fry it. ) The bacon was VERY good. It was crispy, just the way I like it. I was pleased that the pancakes had both regular syrup and strawberry syrup. The hash brown potatoes were a different story. They were almost raw. They were very soggy. The service was AMAZING! Maybe the selection and the amount of food available has something to do with covid, since there are shortages in some things.
