Today, we stopped in after 12:30pm without reservations and they were fully booked. They said we can sit at their communal table with others who do not have reservations, or we could sit at the bar. We chose to sit at the bar because you are allowed to order from The French Pantry menu and/or the Little Miss Ha menu (which is Vietnamese food). After looking through both menu, we decided we will have to come back to try Little Miss Ha. We started with their French Onion Soup which was so incredibly flavorful. I had the Granada Salad which was fresh and tasty. My friend had their Rare Roast Beef Boursin sandwich which was delicious. Service was attentive and warm. The restaurant is spacious and beautifully decorated. They have an extensive wine list and cocktails offerings. Their display case of baked goods was so tempting but we were so full. Next time, for sure, along with many other things on the menu that cause our eye, especially on the Little Miss Ha menu. read more

We frequent Saint Augustine for several seminars, I have never had lettuce in a box thrown together so awful! It was my daughter's bday to boot! The French Pantry has just opened in St Augustine behind the Lightner Museum in St. Augustine. I couldn't be happier as I no longer have to drive to their other location for the delicious desserts & delectable sandwiches & salads. The building is beautiful. Our friendly & professional server Ted, gave me the tour. The restaurant is divided into 4 areas. There is a small private room with a chefs table of sorts & an open kitchen which Ted says will be giving cooking classes and available to rent for small occasions. The front side of the restaurant is The French Pantry divided by a wall with a Vietnamese experience on the other side called Little Miss Ha. The French Pantry side has a counter with all the desserts and bread displayed. You can pop in to pick up desserts for sale at the counter. If you follow the long bar around to the back, there is a big beautiful lounge room. This space is set up with a large bar and two TVs over the bar. There is conversational seating as well. They are serving a light bite menu. The place is so inviting. All over the restaurant there are beautiful deep blue velvet drapes against shiplap white walls. The building has so much natural light & is just so pretty. As for the food, we started off with bang bang shrimp. Although there were only four shrimp, they were quite large and cooked perfectly. The shrimp were fresh and had a sweetness to them. My husband had the onion soup for starters. It had cheese dripping over the sides the way he likes it. He also had the " Hot Italian" sandwich, which came loaded with meat and cheese. I had a chicken Panini, which was large & could have been big enough to share. It was absolutely delicious as I passed it around the table for others to take a bite. My only suggestion is that the bread could have had a little butter on it and toasted a little more. I like my paninis pressed down. Just a personal preference. The sandwich does not come with any sides but a friend that ordered a burger shared her big portion of shoe string fries and it was enough. She also raved about the burger. I had been eyeing a dessert since we walked in and decided I was going to have the cheese tart, which I was told had blueberries inside. When it was time to have dessert I walked up to the counter to look just to make sure of my selection and was told someone came in and bought the entire cake. I guess I should've pre-ordered my dessert. Our group shared a few desserts all of which looked amazing. We had some delicious chocolate chip cookies and we had a vanilla layer cake with raspberry filling served with some raspberry compote on the side. Both were yummy! As for drinks, they have a nice cocktail menu with some unusual combos. the bartender had said he made up many himself. I had the firebird. It was really good. A very smoky Mezcal with just enough sweetness. My husband had some kind of drink with an airplane name. (I'm sorry I don't remember what it was called ) It had a teeny little paper clip with an airplane attached to the side. What a nice touch. Our server, Ted informed us that in the coming weeks they will have an extensive wine list. I for one can't wait to go back and have a nice charcuterie board with some of those wines. We ordered a little bit of everything while we were there including a variety of deserts which I forgot to capture since we ate them so quickly. The shrimp Bucatini was buttery, well seasoned and had a crispy topping that was sensorially delightful. The carbonara was made with guanciale and cooked to perfection. The Ribeye had a blue cheese topping that elevated the steak flavor, but be warned if you do not like blue cheese please make sure you ask for it without the topping. The steak was cooked to perfection with an excellent char on the outside. We tried the two potato sides, the potato's gratin was cheesy and cooked well. The mashed potatoes were unexpectedly exquisite, buttery and creamy, not a lump in sight. We also tried the haricots verts were cooked well and flavorful but lacking a little salt. Our server was Bryan, he was excellent, attentive, kept our glasses full, made wonderful food suggestions and was incredibly patient. The restaurant itself had a wonderful ambiance, excellent decor, clean, and staff were friendly. My only complaint was that the desert case had very bright lights and many people coming in and out taking food to go, wish this was located in a different area away from the dining room. read more

The Service was spectacular, I must say! The Ambiance was also very nice. However, we were very surprised that the dinner menu not only was limited in its selection, the prices were off the wall. The French Pantry lived up to their hype...mostly. There is still a wait and still known for great bakery goods. This newest location is centralized in historic St. Augustine, and yes, parking cost me. The interior is formally designed with a bar in the middle. Their sandwiches are very large and shareable. They do not come with a side, but you can order a side for a fee. I had a turkey, goat cheese, and pesto sandwich. ($18) I ate half of it and had the other half wrapped up to go and requested a wedding cake slice ($$) to go also. I received and paid my bill, and the server set a large-size bag in front of me. I said thank you, signed my tab, grabbed my bag, and left. I drove 40 miles back to my home excited and thinking I finally get to try a piece of their well-known wedding cake, I looked in the bag, and there's no wedding cake, just my other half of my sandwich. I was slightly devastated and hoped they would have noticed and put the cost back on my Card, but I didn't see it, and I didn't get any cake. It was the best day when I heard French Pantry was opening a location in St Augustine! And what a prime spot too right next to the Lightner Museum! The cafe is absolutely gorgeous and open for lunch and dinner! I didn't bring my phone inside because I was just doing a pick up order so I'm sad I didn't get any pictures! But it was bright and open and had a lot of seating! We picked up an 8 inch Wedding Cake(it is just called this-it wasn't for a wedding)! We get it almost every year for my mom's birthday because she (and all of us) love it so much! And as always-it was absolutely divine! It is good cold or room temperature! They also offer a strawberry sauce but honestly the cake is so good on its own! It's beautifully decorated with a fresh white rose on top! I am a huge fan of the French Pantry in Jax. I have sung its praises many times and I think it's such a hidden gem in Jacksonville. I was thrilled to see they were opening on in St. Augustine in the heart of the downtown area. I was excited to see they had a different menu and evening hours. I came with friends and we sat at the bar. We liked the vibe, the decor, the pastry case, etc. The bartender/waitress was not friendly and borderline rude when we asked questions about the menu. We had to flag her down for water refills and to ask for the check. It felt like she was simultaneously rushing us out the door while ignoring us. The food was...fine. I expected something incredible fresh and exquisite, but it was just whatever. It felt overpriced for what it was and it was kinda bland. They haven't been opened long, so maybe they are still working out the kinks, but me and my friends were sorely disappointed. St. Augustine has such a plethora of great restaurants with attentive staff and I'd rather take my money there. read more

The Bucatini was an odd choice in my personal opinion but I'm not complaining, the unusual size was memorable. Went for the first time today for lunch. The food is delicious and the portions are so big, it is a two meal deal really. I like the environment. The waitress we had was fantastic ( and put up with our nonsense of not knowing which cake to choose very gracefully). I had the shrimp and artichoke bruschetta and my friend had a sandwich. We split some fries with that. They have a full bar and the drinks I saw looked fantastic. We picked this spot on a whim (it was near where we had parked). It was at the end of the lunch rush. We ordered the Rueben sandwich and the Bang, Bang Shrimp salad. Drinks were water and iced tea. The bread starter was outstanding . Our meals were top notch. We took desserts (blueberry tart and German chocolate cake) home for later treat. They were delicious. We made a 11am lunch reservation for 4 people and were seated on time. Parking is in the rear of the restaurant. The inside looks very nice with the brick and wood. Our waitress was friendly and made some recommendations. For our appetizer we ordered some Truffle fries with garlic aioli. They came out hot & good. For lunch, 2 of us ordered the Muffuletta Sandwich. It was not like a New Orleans style Muffuletta. kind of small, dry & not what we expected. The other 2 in our party ordered the Chicken Panini and the Turkey Gouda Sandwich. They both said that their food was good but nothing great. My wife found a black hair in one half of her Muffuletta. When reported to our server, she brought my wife a small chocolate chip cookie to make up for it. Neither of us ate the 2nd half of our Muffuletta and we didn't take it home in a box. We did buy a loaf of French bread, a turnover, almond Croissant & a piece of wedding cake all to take home. The wedding cake was really good. The French bread was also good but the rest was not very good.. I wish I'd had a chance to try the food at The French Pantry. I'd driven by it the day before with my family, and when I saw it, I made them stop so I could go in and and take a peek inside. It was everything I hoped it would be: lovely ambiance and a bakery case to rival that of a patisserie. The following day, my family, much to my dismay, wanted to lunch somewhere else. Not to be deterred, I decided to pop into The French Pantry for an espresso and pastry around, I believe 2 o'clock on my own. (This is one of favorite things to do in Paris: stop for an espresso and chocolate croissant as a mid-afternoon pick-me-up.) When the hostess greeted me, I asked for a table for an espresso and pastry. The hostess replied that she couldn't give up a table for what would be such a small bill. Mind you, the restaurant was nearly empty at this time of day. I was about to reply that I'd be willing to leave a generous tip when the hostess continued to say that she "just wasn't willing to ask one of the servers to do that." Came in tonight with my girlfriend for date night, and had a rough customer service experience. The hostess didn't explain that we couldn't order from the Vietnamese menu if we sat in the dining area (main reason we came to eat). Our server was very attentive to the people who looked like they were big spenders. We were very hungry and waited 15 minutes for our drinks. Another five was spent listening to Ted explain the specials which was his job but I was hungry. We were expecting bread service with we saw throughout the restaurant, but when our appetizers arrived 25 minutes after we were sat the manager explained to us "we don't drop off bread until the appetizers are at your table so you don't fill up on bread". That's what he said and boy I was hungry. Truffle fries were solid but overall a mid experience. Left and didn't try the main courses. read more

Excellent service the omelette was nice and airy lovely flavor just the right amount of have and cheese, lovely light green salad. The real star though was my husband's steak and poached egg with the hollandaise perfection I tell you and the pan fried potatoes were crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
