They have spicy fishcake rolls as well which are awesome but come in 1 and a half roll portions. They have tuna kimbap or spicy tuna kimbap and spam musubi (with egg and mayo inside). They accept credit card for purchases $10 or above. Anything under is cash only. read more

The Fresh Roll House has Korean food, not to be confused with Japanese rolls. Carrots, mushrooms, lettuce, egg, beef, and rice all covered in nori. The Fresh Roll House is a separate business from Zion Market, and thus products from the store cannot be purchased in the restaurant. There were the same rolls in the market that were served in the Roll House, but did not look as "fresh" and were prepackaged. The rolls tasted extremely fresh with a good balance of textures, I just wish they were $1 or $2 cheaper. read more

I just recently discovered this place after a trip to the Zion market. They have a few varieties: tuna, beef, fish cake and a few more I can't remember. I opted for the fish cake with brown rice, came out to 6 bucks for two rolls. Portions are huge! I had it for both lunch and dinner. I think I'll become a regular here lol. read more

There's a number to call to place orders and a sign at the stand that states you can order Kimbap. Don't be fooled. The lady at the counter will just ridicule you if you try to place an order. If there's any kimbap, regardless of fillings, she will not allow you to place anh orders until it's all gone. If you want beef and lettuce but there's still fish cake rolls on the rack? You'll have to get the fish cake until she'll be willing to make more. Kimbap tastes great and are very affordable, but I'm unsure if it's worth the horrible customer service. The cashier gives bad attitude. Since there was a customer in front of me so I put two box of sushi on the counter waiting to check out But don't know why one fell in the floor. I apologized three times. And she gave me the poker face and said nothing. Charged to my credit card and then finally said " you broke it, you pay for it"! 3.5 stars. Haven't bought the gimbap for awhile. Brown rice gimbap with beef, carrots, egg, a little spinach for $6.00 It's like 1 and 1/2 roll; whereas if it's white rice, it's 2 rolls. I wanted to customize the rolls with the lettuce like the white rice ones; but she said no customization. Lettuce is a lot cheaper than beef ! It really isn't difficult to customize, as the Mexican ladies are making them as we speak. If they allow customization, it would be 5 stars. For all the korean folks, kimbap is the food you ate growing up when you went on a roadtrip, picnic, or visit to disneyland... when your parents wanted to save money from the high tourist prices of food. For all others, its not really sushi, but its rice, beef (or in this case sometimes spicy tuna), and vegetables (usually yellow radish and cucumbers) wrapped around seaweed. There are a couple options here- they do a full order of beef kimbap for $5, or a half order of spicy tuna for $3.50. This is a great place for a quick lunch on the go or a roadtrip. I'm Korean and have been eating kimbap all of my life. My mom is an amazing cook and has laboriously made kimbap from scratch by preparing and cutting veggies, sauteeing & seasoning each veggie separately, marinating the meat & then cooking it, frying eggs into large pancakes & then cutting them into strips, AND THEN laboriously assembling the ingredients into rolls & cutting them by hand!! It's super painful to see her go through all of this...so when you can buy something that's so labor-intensive that tastes great & for a reasonable price...yeah..."Woohoo! As good as it gets!". The varieties of kimbaps at this place is pretty impressive. My favorites are the spicy tuna and the new ssam bap. It's almost like having eating Korean bbq in a lettuce wrap with a dollop of beanpaste. If you really wanna make the kimbap into a bomb meal...Get one of the two kimbaps that I suggested (or both) and then order a spicy beanpaste stew TO GO a few doors down at Doore...must ask for it really spicy. Not only will you get the stew, but you will also get a big styofoam container of all these yummy side dishes. The stew is enough for 2 servings. *The best best kimbap that I've tasted is at Madang Gooksu in K-town in LA. They're kimbap is made with Korean sausage...can't beat that. read more

Kimbap's what they specialize here at this little food stand just inside the Zion market in Irvine. They offer many variations. The regular ones and the spicy tuna are my favorite. The tuna in the tuna and spicy tuna are cooked though and the shiso leaf adds a really nice note to the kimbap, a.k.a. rice roll. The rolls vary from $3.50 to $6, but for the amount of food you get, it's totally worth it. I wanna try the brown rice & beef one next. All of the other one are made with regular white rice. The best thing about kimbap is that anytime is a great time for kimbap. Road trip, studying, watching TV, maybe even when you watch a movie....gotta try that one. "Kimbap" resembles sushi :) Traditional fillings include seasoned vegetables, egg, beef, or some kind of meat, fish and/or imitation crab, but these days anything goes. They even offer brown rice versions and spicy tuna rolls! One package will run you about $5 which is pretty reasonable. "Fresh Roll House" is not a sit down restaurant, it's basically a little booth located at the entrance of Zion Market. It's basically pick-up and take-out. Definitely check this place out... Yesterday, I bought 2 packages of beef keembap for my parents and I. The beef keembap was good, but not very good as in my last review. The reason why it was only good this time was because it was more salty than usual. The keembap had more beef in it which is usually a good thing, but the beef was marinade in soy sauce, so you can understand why it was not a good thing. Like my friend before, my parents commented that there should be more spinach in it. The food was more than enough for 4 people and still a good price at $4.50 each. read more

Best Value for Sushi in Irvine. It's a "to go" place. It's Korean sushi style, not Japanese. The secret is finding the place. Walk into the Left Door at Zion Market and turn Left. You're there. Now walk over to the cash register and grab one of the best sushi roll values in Irvine. The Large roll cost $3.50 and weighs at least 3 lbs, maybe 4. Like a buck a pound. Value is unheard of awesome. The food is fresh and just made. This place is clean and just got remodel. I think this place is going to take over the world. I always get a beef roll and a tuna roll ($4.50), I'm not a fish cake fan. read more

FINALLY, after who knows how many grocery shopping trips we've been on at Zion (usually because we go during the week nights when it's closed), we tried this place. Pretty decent rolls here but they are a bit pricey, though no more pricey than the pre-packaged rolls they have sitting off near the hot food section. Figured if I was gonna get kimbap, might as well get it when it's fresh. The bulgogi kimbap was pretty good too - not sure I'd trust eating one of the bulgogi kimbaps that has been sitting on a shelf for more than a few hours. As far as the Korean lady being rude, we didn't experience that - she smiled and seemed pretty nice. From reading the reviews, you'd think she's bipolar or something. read more
