We came on a Sunday morning and to no ones surprise there was a wait. There's always a wait, but that just lets me know the food must be good here. So we put our name on the list and went for a short walk. Ten minutes later we go back and we ask for a seat at the bar since it's just the two of us and the hostess looked relieved. Haha. First things first we order our carafe of mimosas and water. We browse the menu and I decide to get Kevin's kombo with eggs over easy, hash browns which I added onions to, turkey sausage and a biscuit. My date gets the creole grits minus the pork. Now I'm not a grits person but his food was delicious. Maybe it was the sauce but it made rethink my dislike of grits. My food was exactly what I wanted a good hearty breakfast. Eggs were delicious and I gobbled down my hash browns in no time. Definitely add onions to the hash browns! I wasn't a fan of the biscuit. I found it to be dry and a bit hard so next time I'll either get a pancake or an extra egg or hash browns. Our server was super friendly and I wish I could remember her name but it was french. I want to preface this by saying we had been here once before and the food and service was really good. We drove 45 minutes out of our way to get lunch here, and it was so disappointing. Our server was pretty unfriendly and seemed angry at where we had been seated. When she came over to get our order she was dismissive when we told her about the gluten allergy our party had. We always clarify with servers about how food is prepared because the allergy is significant, and she just did not appear to care. This is unfortunate because this restaurant is known for is GF friendly menu and prep. Our food came out with the gf pancake right next to the other dish which had a biscuit on it, where last time it was brought out completely separately to prevent cross-contamination. Our shrimp and blue cheese grits were completely flavourless. I don't know if they were missing the sauce completely or if there was so little we couldn't taste it, it tasted very bland and borderline gross. This place seems to be pretty inconsistent, so you might have an awesome meal and service or both might be bad, but the food is expensive enough that I am unsure if we will be coming again. read more

Omg!! Where do I start? Phenomenal!! My new favorite place in Savannah. We were the first customers of the day. Blake & Allyson were awesome! Upbeat personalities. Very cheerful. The owner greeted us. Ms Deanne is a wonderful lady. Everyone was so friendly. Gigi was courteous & pleasant. I really enjoyed dining here. The entire staff was so attentive. The restaurant offers dining with a griddle in the middle of the table so you can create your own pancakes. It comes with several different toppings. The menu offers so many different entrees and sides. And the decor...The colors are so lovely. Purple, orange, lime, etc. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Outdoor dining has covered and uncovered seating. The food was delicious. I had the butterscotch pancake. It was so good. The black & bleu grits were good. It has lobster and shrimp. The sauce was tasty. I really enjoyed this place. I highly recommend dining here. They close at 2:30 pm. I'm definitely coming back here. Our server was super friendly and attentive even while dealing with, we think, a dine and dasher. I am shocked they only have three and a half stars. We sat on the covered patio with our pup, which they had a water bowl for, and there were tons of dogs out today. There was another patio with umbrellas plus whatever seating was inside. Now that I write this, we actually didn't make it inside at all. I began my beaky with a Bloody Mary with house vodka, and it was perfectly spicy with an olive, lime, and bacon. Our server let us know the food was taking a little longer than usual, and we appreciated the heads up, but it seemed fast to us. We split the Farmer's Market omelet and a side pancake. I appreciate the fact that oh can get one pancake. Usually side, so pancakes come in threes, and we don't want to waste two, so we never get it. Oh. My. Word. SOOOO good! My husband and I are in town for a wedding and we needed a place to eat breakfast. While I don't have celiacs I am sensitive to gluten so I avoid it as much as possible. The Funky Brunch Cafe had some amazing gluten free options. I had GF pancakes with chocolate chips and strawberries in it, as well as 1 scrambled egg and the fresh squeezed orange juice. I wish I had taken a picture of the food, but instead I inhaled my breakfast. It's so hard to find GF items that truly taste good. My husband had a bite of my pancake and remarked about how good it tasted. The orange juice was fresh squeezed and so it was absolutely delicious. Our service was quick and our server was awesome. I like to sew and noticed the various aprons the servers had. They're all super cute! Because of the amazing service and food, I kind of want to go home and make a bunch of fun aprons to send their way. The decor was also super cute! Each table had a coffee mug with a succulent in it. The various things on the walls were cute too. We ate outside, so we didn't see what all was inside. I know they have tabletop griddles as I heard them ask the gentleman behind us when he was requesting a table. When we first arrived, an older lady had fallen and was bleeding on the street. The employees of The Funky Brunch jumped into help mode for her - getting ice packs and towels to help until they ambulance arrived. They definitely got my respect from that. The prices are definitely unique. They all end with 1, 3, or 7 (there was 1 item for $3.69 and 1 item for $5 aside from that). It was definitely a funky good time! We found this spot to be close to the Marriott where we were staying for the weekend and we were glad we did, had breakfast here both days. When we arrived on Friday it was late morning so the wait to be seated was minimal at best. We were seated at a table that with a griddle made into it so that we could make our own pancakes if we chose to. We were lazy, we let the cooks in the kitchen flip our pancakes. My sister ordered the Kitchen Cakes with turkey sausage. I opted for the Black N Bleu Sea Grits (no bacon). My food was very flavorful, not salty as I kind of anticipated it might be and just plain old GOOD!! A hearty savory dish that I'd gladly order again when back in town. Day 2 I had the Goodman (not shown here) which was an omelette subbed with turkey sausage, cheese grits and blueberry pancake. We met the owner Deann on the second day and she was super pleasant and thanked us for coming twice! This is the perfect spot to bring young kids to make their own pancakes or watch the adults make it for them. Prices were crazy reasonable for the amount of food you get. So.... I've been wanting to try this dish for a lllooonnngggg time so I was super excited and maybe that's why I was disappointed at the lack of flavor. I don't like to add seasoning to food and I had to add black pepper and a bit of salt. The cream sauce and grits were good but the meat itself had no flavor and the steak was tough... We had a really great time at the Funky Brunch Cafe. The staff was fantastic and attentive. They answered all questions with a smile and knew their menu well! We did the cook your own pancake option which was great but really didn't seem like we got as much as was perceived for the pricing. My wife had a creole sausage chicken and grits bowl and I had the breakfast at mom's which was great but the gravy had a weird turkey sausage flavor to it. The menu didn't state what sausage was in it and I honestly forgot to ask. All in all, we paid about 60.00 for the experience and food. Cool little place with outdoor seating and a nice atmosphere, the problem started at greeting us, the girl acted like the place was full and she had to go look for a table, but the place was really slow with lots of seating available, our waitress came to the table and she was was sweet, but after ordering she walked past us several times without checking out drinks, the real problem here was the food it was terrible and had absolutely no seasoning, the grits tasted like paste. The restaurant was a little busy but surprisingly they were able to seat us in about 20 minutes. We had the monkey bread , it was good but not the best I've had. My husband got the black & Bleu seafood grits with shrimp and lobster - AMAZING! I had the andouille sausage hash which was also out of this world. We ate brunch here with a party of 7 on 9/1/24 I will start off by saying our food was not terrible but also nothing exciting at all. Our server was also very nice once we got to our table. When we first arrived after our wait, and had received the text that our table was ready, we had the weirdest interaction I've ever had with a restaurant owner (Deanne). She told us that we did NOT in fact have a text from them and it was a different party with the same name. When I showed her my text from them she started acting very flustered and telling me that nothing was ready for us. I TOTALLY understand mistakes happen so I just asked if she could let us know how long we would have to wait at this point. (We had already waited 30 min which was our quoted time) I was standing about 2-3 feet away from her with a line of people behind me and she started to act completely unhinged and yelled "I need you to BACK UP NOW!" Totally confused, I scooted back the tiny amount that I could without touching other people and again she yelled for me to back up in such an aggressive tone that it made it seem like I had done something to her, when all I did was calmly and nicely ask a question and try to sort out our texts. It was such odd behavior and such a rude way to treat a customer. Everyone around us looked so shocked at her behavior that I was honestly embarrassed for her. The only reason we didn't leave was because we had a large party and had already waited for a while to eat. Once we sat down to eat, we were within eyesight of the same owner and could see her pointing and talking about us to other staff members and even mocking our hand movements as we conversed amongst ourselves. Don't turn away when you see the huge crowd on weekends. There were tons of people out and we were still seated within 10 minutes, their turn over is sooo quick. My mom and I were visiting Savannah, we found this place on yelp for breakfast. The food is sooo good. I love that you can make your own pancakes right at the table, cool hibachi feel. I came here with a group, and had high expectations for this cute and quirky spot. Overall, I was a little disappointed. Much of the food we had was quite good, but the portions were small for they price overall. This was the case with all of the sandwiches and sides in particular. One exception is the mimosas, which are a great deal. The bloody Marys are also really fantastic. I think unfortunately this spot is overall a bit of a tourist destination with the griddles on many tables to cook your own pancakes.
