On our visit to Pico to attend the Killington Music Festival, we looked for some comfort food and we chose Garlic - based on the reviews. It had a warm atmosphere, not too busy at around 5:30pm. The decor was rustic, garlics everywhere (in a tasteful way) and saw a few salt blocks - interesting. We had the mussels for appetizer. The soup base was so flavorful that we used the bread to soak up all the juice. For main course we tried the veal cutlet and house pasta with meatballs. The cutlery was juicy and thin. Ehhhhhh the garlic. I had heard good things but they really missed the mark for me and everyone I was with. To be fair we had a large party with a heaping handful of kids. However that being said, our waiter was typically MIA, the bread was stale with zero flavor , and the food was also severely under seasoned. I had gotten a gnocchi special, my husband got the shrimp scampi , my brother in law in front of me got the shrimp and scallop diavolo. Every single person at the table added a massive amount of salt and pepper to their dish. No one's had flavor at all. My sister in law next to me got the vodka sauce with penne and her pasta was hard and under cooked. My martini was not balanced, way too tart so I had to ask for a cup of ice on the side. Overall I think the kitchen here could be killing it if they tried the food before serving it. They need to kick up the flavor by 100!!! We've been coming here for years and were very exited to come back for a meal during this trip, unfortunately it appears that they have changed their menu to be Italian focused. While the food was still good it wasn't quite the meal that we had been looking for. The dish photoed specifically claimed to have goat cheese but it was very scarce. However, I would highly recommend the golden pear martini. The wine glasses were giant which was exciting, but the wine was expired. The chicken parm would be a solid pass in our opinion and the Alfredo was bomb. Giant serving sizes and you don't need to worry about wearing a turtle neck. read more

This is such a quirky and delicious Italian restaurant in the Killington area. As soon as you walk in, you smell roasted garlic and marinara sauce, see bunches of garlic cloves everywhere, and tons of people enjoying delicious Italian food. I would recommend on busy nights getting there as close to opening as possible-- our first time here (over MLK jr weekend) we stood outside for 15 minutes before opening in bone chilling temperatures. It was well worth it! The first time we came here we sat at the bar. I had a golden pear martini and their ravioli bolognese which was so warming and comforting on a really cold night. We ordered their garlic mussels and enjoyed those with the roasted garlic and bread that comes out as part of your dinner. The hubby ordered the pork shank which was fall of the bone tender. The second time (which I remembered to take some pics) we got the spinach artichoke dip instead, which was incredibly decadent. The crostini were a perfect match for the rich dip. I unfortunately forgot to take a pic of the roasted garlic and bread, because we dug right in to its deliciousness. The hubby ordered the 16oz filet mignon meatball, which was so large it warranted two pictures. It was quite good, served over spaghetti. I ordered the penne alla vodka with chicken-- I was very disappointed we didn't have a mini fridge at our Airbnb, as I desperately wanted the leftovers a second day. Having been to The Garlic in NSB a number of times, we were excited to try The Garlic in Killington, before we found out they were two different owners. Anyhow, we went in with an expectation and it was certainly met. The ambiance was great, rustic with an old Italian feel. The sangria was delicious, the bread and roasted garlic was amazing, as we expected and wanted. We had the harlots cheese as an appetizer, fried mozzerella in a puttanesca sauce, yummy. The cheese had a nice crisp to it and the sauce was very flavorful. We both opted for the chicken parm which was very good. The chicken was tender with a crisp coating, the sauce was flavorful with lots of chunks of tomato, we both had enough for at least one more meal each. Although Killington didn't offer a Bocce Ball we did get a side of meatballs. They weren't equal to the Bocce Ball in NSB but they were yummy. My personal favorite for Italian food and elevated dining in the Killington area, the candlelit night ambiance meshes perfectly with their velvet vibe. I come here every trip, if not multiple times, for the quality of the food and the lovely mood. We stopped by here during a trip to Killington and man were we happy! To start, they give everyone bread with roasted garlic which you can spread like butter! So delicious. We started with the lamb appetizer which I didn't get a picture of, but the goat cheese and blueberry jam along with the lamb was absolutely divine. Probably my favorite dish of the meal. We got lamb, steak and the scallop diavolo which were all super tasty. The meats were supposed to be medium rare and by my eye it looked like there were a little more rare, but I didn't hear any complaints from the boys. Pics included. Overall very great experience. If you go into The Garlic looking for "winter" items in October and non-alcoholic drinks - "mocktails" as I was told, you will instantly be sized up by Dana G of the Garlic as someone asking for too much and treated accordingly. Allright, The Garlic only serves chicken parmesan and other items in the winter - OK, got it. As for non-alcoholic drinks, they have St. Pauli Girl non-alcoholic beer (which actually contains a minimal amount of alcohol - for those who cannot drink alchohol) and a "wide array of Pepsi" products - as said to me by Dana G with a wise-a$$ grin. "We don't have mocktails here," - this being another retort delivered by Dana G. OK, I order a Pepsi and a non-winter item from the menu, the filet mignon ragu over linguine. So I brought the below cocktail menu to the bar and asked the silver-haired, quite pleasant gentleman bartender if he would make me a lemon, honey mix with soda water. No problem. He actually made me two on the house as they took an extra couple of minutes to mix up. No problem - I tipped him $7 for being so accommodating and pleasant. Dana G - she got 10% - given the way my family (father, mother, partner, and son) were spoken to. Good food, poor service. Stars given show which of those weigh more in my overall experience. For appetizers try the calamari. They serve warm bread with there amazing roasted whole garlic, which you can request one more if want more. Kids entrees are good sized pasta dishes - we ordered a linguini with marinara but the sauce was a little less as compared to bowl full of pasta which made pasta taste dry. Good thing we were there the first group because the lines got longer. We could smell garlic from the parking lot and there are tons of garlic hanging around inside the restaurant. They gave us roasted garlic with baguette on the house. The appetizers were good. Garlic mussels is a must try ! The lamb rack was really tender and juicy. Chicken Alfredo was a bit bland but Penne Alla Vokda was good. Our server was very attentive and considerate. I and my friend wanted to share our dishes and he split our foods to two plates without us even asking. Very nice ! If you are going during busy hours, make sure you place order quickly otherwise you have to wait for food for a long time. One thing I want to point out is that you have to be observing when go to the bathroom since the door signages are very confusing.
