We ordered on DoorDash, so not sure about the service or the ambience. The presentation of the food was nice. My favorite was the fish tacos made with hearts of palm. I will definitely go back for them. We also ordered the shepherds pie wasn't a big fan of that.the plantains were great. We also really enjoyed the breakfast. French toast was really good. That omelette was spectacular, and I love the sausage. The fried rice is also a favorite. We ordered the carrot cake and the cookies for dessert. Is Ginger Mule, Verdine's glow up? If so, go head girl! Anyways, the experience was a bit confusing for me, and for that I certainly owe them a return trip. The restaurant is delightfully naturally lit, airy, and bright. The service is good, nothing over the top, but good. As my second lunch of the day, I chose a few mismatch options. Soup to start, pancakes to follow, and tres leches to finish. Again, I'll see if I have better luck with other entree options, but don't skip on the elixirs! Then we ordered one appetizer which was the heart of palm ceviche and I was quite surprised at how delicious it was! Then our entrees my friend got the Buddha bowl salad which she really enjoyed and I got the birria tacos, which I will say was delicious but I think they could've given me a little more consommé for the 3 tacos I had. What is this place?!? I was vegan for 8 years and never had something like this. Coconut Calamari that tastes like legit calamari. I need to learn how to make this. Just once though. Just went to ginger mule on Thursday. I got the weekday special so did my grandmother which comes with an appetizer, entree and a dessert for 19$! We got miso soup, "fish" tacos, fried rice your way, guava cheesecake and we also got tofu sticks separately that come with marinara sauce! Everything was absolutely delicious the only thing we both didn't like that much was the miso soup because it was very salty and it didn't have too much flavor. The service was good as soon as you get there they seat you, give you water and give you some time to read the menu. Our server was pretty nice! Ginger Mule is a great spot for vegan eats. I've been here twice so far and the food was pretty good both times. The things I would get again include ANY of their tacos! These were amazing and even my meat eating friends loved them. The drinks are great! We tried all of their mules and they were delicious. The deserts were meh - The guava cheesecake sounded promising but tasted too "vegan" and not like actual cheesecake. The guava flavor was fresh and really elevated the dish tho. Also would avoid any of the dishes with cheese such as the nachos or pizza. The vegan cheese didn't have a great after taste, it was similar to Daiya or other grocery store vegan cheese. Not for me, but if you like the taste of vegan cheese like Daiya you might like those items then. The appetizers were great! Loved the truffle fries especially, would recommend those! I try to eat vegan 90% of the time so when I was visiting Houston for a 5k and Saturday lunch time rolled around, I told my brother I had been wanting to try this place and fortunately for me he is very open to new cuisines. I saw this place had good reviews so we came here and I was pleased. Honestly I was a little turned around trying to find it but I am a small town gal. Anyways I wanted to eat outside as I get cold easily but the patio area was full so we ate at bar area. I always choose 2 dishes and ask the server what does he recommend and fortunately he chose the one I was leaning towards the cozy curry. I love curry so when he said excellent choice I was excited. There was a wait but the server kept checkin in on us. I loved my dish! I could tell high fat coconut milk was used bc when I make curry I use light coconut milk bc I like to fit in my jeans. The sweet plantains contrasted nicely with the mellow heat of the curry. I was happy. My brother I think ordered an omelet with fruit for side and he was happy as well. Absolutely love this place! The decor and atmosphere is clean and crisp, the servers are super friendly and the food is stellar. We tried so many things in our two trips here on a recent weekend away. Everything was delicious! The massaman curry really stands out- super flavorful (for some reason it's hard to find a tasty vegan Thai curry) and so comforting. The fried rice with Mongolian cauliflower was well spiced and super satisfying, with a huge portion (my husband and I split it and still had leftovers). The desserts we tried were fantastic- the guava cheesecake was heavy on the guava which made it one of the best desserts I've had in a while. I'm not a vegan or vegetarian but I came here for a solo lunch and had a good experience! I decided to get their 3 course lunch. For my app I got the butternut squash cream soup. It was served with roasted pepitas and micro greens. Wasn't too heavy and a great way to start the meal. For my entree, I got the Encinitas wrap, which came with falafel, corn, avocado, spring mix and chipotle mayo. It was really good, but I should have asked for the mayo on the side. There was too much in the wrap for my liking. This was all encased in a spinach tortilla. For dessert, I got the flanbrulee-a coconut custard with a caramelized top and oat cream. Easily my new favorite restaurant! They have a fun and creative menu, and the food is incredible. They have some unique drinks with several mule options. I tried the peachy keen & it was amazing. It's a beautiful space with a quaint atmosphere inside & a really pretty patio. The lasagna is my favorite thing on the menu right now, its delicious & uses squash instead of noodles. Everything is plant based, of course & a TON of their food is gluten free with little to no sugar, which I love. I've brought several of my friends & family members who aren't vegan or gluten free and they also loved it. Eli takes excellent care of me every time I go. My friend and I decided to try out this cute vegan restaurant right in The Heights. The location was in a great location downtown. They have indoor and outdoor seating, but due to the Texas heat we decided to sit inside. The tables are very close together, so it feels very tight. I got the passionfruit margarita ($13) which I give a 5/5. The fruity flavors were super delicious and didn't have a strong alcohol flavor which I enjoyed. We shared an order of the Brussels sprouts ($11) for an appetizer and it was absolutely delicious. They were perfectly cooked and coated with a sweet tangy sauce tossed with red onions, pecans and cranberries. It had the perfect balance of sweet and a bit of spicy flavors. For my main meal I ordered the butternut squash lasagna ($19) which came with 2 pieces of toast and a side salad. The squash was in sheets and basically acted as the lasagna noodles. It was layered with sauce and a vegan meat substitute and topped with vegan cheese. I would give it a 3.75/5. I envisioned it to be something else than it actually was. The flavors were good, but it tasted a little too sweet from the squash. Our waitress was super sweet and brought everything out quickly. They have a very extensive menu with many options I would come back and try. The total for my meal was $41 not including tip, which is a bit pricey in my opinion, but typically vegan food is more expensive. A must try if you're in the area! read more

After looking for a cute little happy hour place to visit. My partner told me she heard about this vegan place that has really good ratings. I trust her information so we went ahead and stopped by the place to give it a try. At first we were a little confused coming from the lot where the entrance was. But a nice man who worked there guided us to where we needed to be. It was super lovely, he later ended up making our mules we ordered and it was so good!! When the food came out we were so surprised on our portions. So often we visit places for happy hour and we get plates the size of our palms. But not here, the hummus was fresh, the highlight of our dishes was the fried mushrooms, I really gotta put my friends on that. The sauces they gave us for our dishes matched the food so well, the pairing gave us such a surprise. The service from our waiter was very lovely. It's so nice and refreshing to see more and more vegan places popping up in Houston! And this one is super gluten-free friendly too. The Ginger Mule just recently opened and I really hope it's here to stay. The interior aesthetic is beautiful and they have a nice outdoor patio (not covered though, so bring a hat and your sunglasses!) Now let's dive into what really matters - the food. Our party of 5 ordered a few apps to share and our own entrees: - Field Nachos: 5/5 must get. Nachos topped with cheese and "ground beef", among other toppings, made this dish the stand out for me. Our group couldn't get enough. Next time I come, this will be my entree. - Fried Tofu Sticks: 2/5 this is a spin off of mozzarella sticks. I thought this was under seasoned and really only had taste of you dunked it in the marinara (which was excellent). I would pass on this. - Fried Cauliflower Bites: 4/5 this comes with two dipping sauces, a savory and slightly sweet one. Great crunch and great sauces made this dish tasty. - Jupiter Medley: 3/5 this was my entree and looked incredible when it came out. It comes with an omelette (with your choice of filling), two "sausage" patties, a small scoop of guac, a green sauce, a bowl of fruit and your choice to pancakes or French toast. The omelette itself was just okay - but was good with the guac and sauce. The sausage patties actually have a great sausage texture and flavor, very reminiscent of actual sausage patties. The fruit was good - watermelon, cantaloupe and blackberries this time of year. And the French toast was great, a little overly sweet to me, but delicious nonetheless. Overall the dish wasn't bad, but I would not order it again. Our waitress was extremely nice and helpful explaining the menu and giving us great recommendations with the appetizers. Price wise - definitely expect to spend more than your average brunch price. But that's expected for the high quality of food you get here! read more

We went for the soft opening. So, they were still working on a few things and only offered part of the menu. But, had most of what we wanted to try (for the first visit, anyway). I honestly wanted to try almost everything on the menu! The space has changed from when it was Verdine. The overall layout is the same, but they have updated with a new look. The staff is friendly and they offer a full bar, as well as non-alcoholic juice based drinks. I had the Ginger Flame, which is non-alcoholic with ginger, tumeric, lime, and grapefruit. It was not super sweet, which was exactly what I was looking for. We started out with the lentil arepas, which were definitely different from the corn patty they are based on, but taste great! A great way to add protein and make arepas a bit healthier. The sauce was amazing, as well. My partner is Colombian and was very interested to see how the Colombian items taste. He had the sancocho which is a Colombian staple. It was very good and had the right seasoning and plantain to give it that consistency. My Al pastor tacos were perfect, as well! She tried the butternut squash soup and the encinitas wrap. We chose the flanbrulee and carrot cake for dessert and shared. We both enjoyed our soup courses the most. Neither were spicy at all, and they had great flavor. I thought the mushroom burger was good, but was difficult and messy to eat. Also, the lunch portion doesn't come with fries. My friend said the wrap was really spicy and couldn't finish it. The carrot cake was quite dense and a bit crumbly and dry. It lacked spices and was a little disappointing. The flanbrulee was good, with a creamy coconut flavor. I would have liked it the entire top had been broiled and had the crunchy sugar exterior, but it was still tasty. Pricing was reasonable. Service was good, and the employees were patient and friendly. The restaurant was busy on a weekday for lunch. The atmosphere was casual and bright.
