Cute place, with outdoor seats but the food did not measure up. I ordered lemonade and it tasted like a terrible powder. Then the cheeseburger was nothing special. The steak was chewy and the Globe salad was okay but the dressing was sweet with no other flavor. The customer service there is horrible. The first time I went there I orderd an empanada. And I had to tell the guy three times that I wanted a chicken empanada. Yesterday I went again in the moring because I am an Uber driver, and I dropped someone off in the area in the morning. And I went again and I orderd a cafe con leche. At the window you see a lot of staff running around like chickens with there heads cut off. And the same girl asked me again if I am being helped...and I said "yes I told you that I wanted a cafe con leche". I can't beleive it is so difficult to get an empanada, and so difficult to make a cafe con leche....really?????.... In little havana or any little cuban cafe thats in hole in a wall will serve you a cafe con leche in seconds... I will never come back to this place again. read more

Came to celebrate a friends birthday. At one point, one of the owners visited our table, introduced himself, and sent a complimentary drink to the birthday guy. The drink prices were on par with Coral Gables. The food came on time and was more than satisfying. The live jazz music was a bonus! read more

Was there for a Miami Association of Realtors event. When I was paying cash for house Merlot I was charged $12. When I paid later with a credit card and got my receipt it was only $9. When I asked the bartender why I was paying $12 previously with cash, she responded that's because we include tip. If you include tip why wasn't it itemized on my credit card purchase, and why was the credit card purchase less? I tipped on top of the $12 when paying cash, and I'm a good tipper because I was in the industry. The bartender's only response was 'sorry.' If skimming off the top is happening at an event sponsored by the Miami Association of Realtors, it's happening often. Can't vouch for the rest of the restaurant but I won't be returning. read more

Good easy going place for lunch. Not easily noticeable from the street but the food is good. I had their steak salad with sun-dried tomatoes, feta and sliced almonds and it was very good. OMG, I came here one night a while back and my friends and I fled. Cheesy, old(er) people strolling around the place with their suits and business saavy attire. Kind of reminds me of when we used to hit up Blue Martini in Brickell years back (which is the same reason we stopped going!). Stopped by with my friend and her dad last night since one of my friends was playing the bass. I had never actually been here but my friend was always raving about it so I decided to come through for some support. They don't charge cover at all, but they say you need to spend at least $20 on food/drinks/ect (they didn't seem to enforce this too much). I personally didn't mind though because I was hungry. Jazz nights are on saturdays, so theres always live music. They have a special menu they change every week along with the usual menu that they have. The service isn't the greatest but it;s something I let slip due to the live music. It keeps you entertained, but the place is small so it can get a little loud. 3.5 stars is what I've settled on, but oh, Miami, because of you and this starring system, The Globe gets an extra half star. We travel for work, and have been staying in Coral Gables for the past month. Miami area locals, you're a lucky bunch, because you truly live in one of the coolest places in this country... But, what is with the restaurants around here? The reason I bring this up is because I think there are a lot of tourists here, and if they read this review I hope they'll choose The Globe over these other places (I assume locals are in the know more than I am) . We've been to about 15 area restaurants in the past month, and every single one had really horrible service and mediocre food. We sit baffled at restaurant after restaurant, wondering how this phenomenon seems contagious. The Globe, however, although a solid 3.5, has been a standout here. First, the bartender. I didn't catch her name, but she's a tiny cute brunette, and she's awesome. We had a Groupon and I was playing an exhilarating game of get the Groupon code before the phone loses charge, and the phone won. Coincidentally, the bartender had the same phone and offered to charge mine with her charger. There was a glimmer of hope for Miami's waitstaff beginning to flutter around in my heart. She then proceeded to lovingly describe some food items- she very obviously loves her workplace and their food and wine. My boyfriend, after having been traumatized in St. Louis, MO by their cracker crust pizza (think sauce and cheese on a saltine, why?) was concerned that he might find a crust like this at The Globe, after a very scary brush with something similar at another place here in Miami. The bartender put his mind (partially) at ease, with a perfect description of their crust, which was thin, not charred too much or too little, and nice and poofy around the edges. We ordered the chicken parm pizza. Still suspicious and paranoid, my boyfriend elected to order a backup pasta dish, (just in case he was being set up as the victim of another maniacal parrot-food crust plot) which was a rigatoni bolognese. The pizza would have been plenty to share, but the bartender recommended that particular pasta dish as one of her favorites, and my boyfriend has difficulties saying no to pasta and cute brunettes. On to the bullet points: -Wine was served in pleasant glasses for merlot and chardonnay, and the house was good. We're not wine snobs, and to the reviewer who said something like "they have Cupcake and Blackstone, seriously!" Go to an uppity place, you're obviously way too important and sophisticated for The Globe. Cupcake and Blackstone are two of my favorites, (merlots) but I gave the house a chance and it was full bodied and velvety and just fine. -They give you free chips to start. They were good, (texture, thickness, seasoning, not greasy) but too salty. The pizza was good, (crust supported toppings with no drooping, nary a hint of what Polly might want, not too doughy, nicely seasoned chicken parm topping) but a little too cheesy and not saucy or salty enough. The bolognese was really good (cheesy, generously meaty, al dente) but too salty, and I missed the tomato kick like I did with the pizza. Fix the salt and tomato sauce problem and this place is a winner for food. My ample leftovers of both dishes shall be donned with a smidge of tomato sauce and all will be well. Great service, good food, pleasant atmosphere, but get the Groupon if you can. I wholeheartedly agree with other reviewers who say this place is too expensive. read more

I worked with Lorraine and Daniel to set up a lecture for about 50 guests at the Globe. The Black Room is an amazing venue and the service we received was EXCELLENT! We were so happy, in fact, we are hoping to host our company holiday party there. I loved this spot. I went on Jazz night with my parents and it was a wonderful experience. There is no cover but you are required to place an order of at least 30 bucks, which itsnt bad considering they have a good variety of food and drinks. I was fortunate enough to stumble upon this place for lunch a couple of days ago. I've had many great burgers in my life, but the one I had here (Philly Cheesesteak) has to be among my top 3 EVER. My wife had the Goat Cheese, and she raved about it also. I asked for Spicy Yucca fries and hey were perfect as well. As far as the burger goes, there's something about the quality of the ingredients, and the charbroiled flavor of the meat is out of this world... highly recommended! read more

I met a couple of friends for drinks and dinner. One of the girls was okay, the other seemed very angry. No smile at all ( I really hate this, you go out to enjoy yourself, and end up paying to see a sour face). The gazpacho was disgusting...tasted the tomatoes out of a can, was sour, and today I have an aupset stomach. The Ceasar salad with calamari was okay, My friends had pizza and left half of it on the plate. It was like a big cracker with crap on top. Oh! the olives on my dirty martinis were decomposed!! Great Jazz paired with great food in Miami and such a classy place, Wow, A true gem. It was my first time here last night, what can I say I would go back every weekend if I could. The food was excellent had the fettuccine and shrimp, appetizers the stuffed tostones and the tomatoes and mozzarella. Yum . When we first arrived the hostess mention to us to forgive them if they were a little slow, because they were short staffed, but I have not had such good service like that in a long time, they really went the extra mile. A couple of my coworker's enjoy this place since it is around the corner from our office. So I decided to take a new coworker there for lunch. I ordered the chicken caeser salad and she ordered the picadillo salad. While waiting we noticed there were no servers just two owners scrambling up orders and paying more attention to the "to go" orders rather than their dining in clientele. They were running around like chickens with no head. After 35 minutes had passed and we had not received our meals, it was extremely difficult to grab the owners attention. Not to mention my coworker and I arrived before lunch rush. 45 Minutes have gone by and not one of the owners has passed by our table and advised us why it was taking long or what not. Finally we are graced with the presence of our salads and my chicken was overcooked and extremely dry (as if it had been frozen for a couple days in the fridge) and my coworkers picadillo (in which is supposed to be cooked to order) was extremely cold! So tell me again why the salad took so long to come out since everything was pretty much pulled out of the fridge? Then within 5 minutes of eating our food, our lunch hour was coming to and end and we could not enjoy our food and we asked for boxes to-go. One of the owners was insisting for us to give him our plates so they can package it for us in the kitchen but we were so annoyed that our whole lunch our was pretty much waiting for a salad that should have been out within 15 minutes of us ordering. Ambiance - not bad, the place is a landmark and it has a cool vibe. I have come to this place for events and they are more attentive, but maybe its because bigger parties = more $$ for them? read more

"The Globe" of Coral Gables is the only jazz bar-restaurant is the world that I've heard of where the wall in the back of the stage is shared by the events room behind it and where parties there play loud pop, dance and latin music that gets mixed in with the live jazz you are trying to listen to!! We had gone through this once before on a live-jazz saturday night so we asked the waitress if there is an event with music behind the stage wall tonight and she said: "Yes, but they only play music through loudspeakers." We got up and left. The food there is good and the prices ok, but the management are obviously morons. [Note; the door to the events room is the door to the kitchen so there is a loud blast of music from the event room every time a waiter goes in or out of the kitchen. Also, it appears to us that once the event starts, the speed of service for the regular dining guests slows to a crawl.] read more

Outstanding...... nice surprise! Had not been to this gem in a while for no reason I could remember. The food was fantastic and the drinks were exceptional. I met a few friends after work and we sat at the bar. The decor is charming with a great atmosphere. The owner Lorraine could not have been more hospitable. I am going to have my holiday office party in the fantastic room they have available for groups. Can't wait till my Holiday party in mid December! This is my first review. Saturday was the first time i ever been to the globe. I've seen many times. i went with some friends. the music was good, so was the party in the backs music. The food was good as well. But my issue is the staff. They seem all over the place and not together. at first they were attentive and the two tall ones were great. but towards the end of they night, i could have sworn they were high. and they wold congregate around the register and talk amongst themselves. and forget our orders and drinks. the tall one was more attentive and more professional. but look high as well. read more

This review is for one burger which is now a part of The Globe. The service was indifferent. I had to ask three times for a glass of water. I ordered the "pan fried" codfish burger and French fries. The burger came out a deep fried ball of mostly burnt bread and no fish visible even when I opened it up. The burger and fries were stuffed on a small appetizer plate as if using a bigger plate would cost them more. Nobody came by to see if the food was OK. I asked for the check paid and volunteered that the fish was deep fried and not pan fried as the menu states. The waitress- with a look that clearly indicated that customer complaints are a common occurrence mumbled something about telling someone and quickly left. A person working the door who appeared to be a manager was there as I walked out. I told him the same thing about how the food was not even close to what was indicated on the menu. I was rewarded with a small shrug and a "I'm sorry." I wasted 18 dollars (with a tip because I don't punish waitstaff for bad food even through they didn't do anything either to earn a nickle) and I walked out also having wasted 45 minutes to spend 18 dollars for half a beer and a few French fries. The Globe may be fine. Avoid the one burger menu at all costs. read more

First let me aay how refreshing it is to find a venue in Miami that has good live music, primarily jazz. On Saturday nights, the globe features jazz bands both locally and well known artist. From a musicians perspective the music selection is excellent! The artist who play (at least the two times that I have gone) have been impeccable! True jazz artist! The ambiance is very intimate and the food is spectacular! My wife loves salmon and she had a salmon that was encrusted with walnuts! I also had salmon that was cooked in a....I wanna say balsamic Asian sauce. It was excellent! The service was good as well. My strongest recommendation is that you go with time. The venue is fairly small and thus fills up pretty quickly. But it is definitely worth the wait. In the meantime grab a drink and groove to the elaborate licks and funky riffs of the jazz musicians....it'll keep you coming back for more. read more

Hadn't been here in over 15 years but their Saturday jazz nights got our attention. Unfortunately there was no jazz but lots of loud 80s music with plenty of 40 somethings reliving their glory years. If you're into this, you will enjoy. Extremely difficult to fight through the crowd to get a drink. The only reason I gave it a 2nd star was because we were lucky and got a table outside.
