Great location, ordered the lobster roll and it's absolutely big enough to share with two people however didn't really have any flavor expect for the unsalted butter.. I wouldn't order it again. Service and everything else was great. And so was the clam chowder we ordered.

New England clam chowder - loaded, creamy and delicious

It should be noted that the Gloucester House is closed during the summer months for indoor dining and operates outside as Blue Collar Lobster on the adjacent dock. I am giving it 4 stars because of the amazing clam chowder! I actually got it there 2 days in a row because it was so good. I opted for the cold lobster roll, which was loaded with lobster meat and lightly dressed with mayo, but unfortunately lacked flavor/seasoning and I was continually adding salt & pepper. The lobster roll was served with French fries, which were crisp and delicious. It was probably due to the fact that I ordered a cup of their rich and creamy New England clam chowder that caused me to not be able to finish the $40 lobster roll, but I don't regret getting that delicious chowder. There is a rented area with tables for shade as well as high top tables with umbrellas. Parking is at one of the 3 lots next door where you pay to park. During the summer months the lots fill up quick and the lunch line can be long, but moves quickly. I would definitely return the next time I am in Gloucester.

This review is for the back deck of the Gloucester House know as the Blue Collar. Though casual, the Blue Collar has both uber casual outdoor seating, and more comfortable inside seating. The process is simple. You order your food at the counter outside. You are given a buzzer. Your buzzer goes off when your food is ready to pickup. You sit wherever you want to...and there is tons of seating, inside and out. Waterfront seating. Before we arrived I was thinking lobster salad over greens. When I saw the prices for the whole steamed lobsters...I quickly changed gear! Market price, whole steamed lobsters here are sold by the count. Steamed, dressed, finished with lemon and melted butter. Prices were as follows: Single (about 1 and 1/4 pound: $25 Double: $40 (additional for 15) Triple: $50 (additional for 10) Quad: $60 (additional for 10)...that works out to just $15 a lobster! Lobster roll $40 Lobster salad $40! Sides of fresh raw oysters, corn chowder, corn, other sides available. And super delicious. Tried a spoon of my cousin's clam chowder and proclaimed it the best I've ever had. Ended up buying two pints to take home. So yes, we enjoyed eating like millionaires for the day

A very expensive but sad and sloppy lobster roll, crispy tots stole the show

Nice big location right by the water, too bad the $40 lobster roll was either fresh or tasty and also lack of enough lobster meat Came here during Thanksgiving break on way to rock port, perhaps being off season with low turnaround is why the lobster roll was so sad, but nevertheless, I found it unacceptable to serve such sad roll at such high price

Great local seafood bar/restaurant. Low key on the weekdays but gets crowded during the weekends. Love the outdoor dog friendly patio which has live music some nights.

We stopped in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and boy was it packed! We ordered the shrimp cocktail, the sole, the lobster roll, and the whole belly clam roll. Honestly, everything was fantastic! The shrimp were plump and sweet. The clams were perfectly cooked, lightly buttered and sweet. And the Lobsta roll was just plain tasty. Next time we're in town, we will be back!!

Blue Collar Lobster Co.: Place your order and sit at the tables under umbrellas or under a tent, by the water. There is also another outdoor area through the building. We got the better deal for 4 boiled lobster for $60 (than the 3 for $50). Very casual setting and so easy to break down the fresh lobster anyway (and I know Lobster roll is less work but is $40. We still got our lobster and butter, just minus bread). Got the fried haddock too. Lightly battered which was great, tastes like there's more seasoning (herbs?) on it although I prefer just plain batter.

My husband and I took our dog and newborn baby here in June for my birthday and it was one of the best days I've ever had. The lobster was absolutely delicious and the vibes were incredible. True New England summer feeling. We had an amazing time and really look forward to returning!

Hotdogs, twin lobster, fries and onion rings were delicious

First time at Blue Collar was a pleasant experience. Went for lunch on a Monday mid-noon with visiting family from Texas that wanted to experience a typical New England meal. We originally wanted to eat at The Gloucester House restaurant but it was closed to inside dining so we ate at the adjoining Blue Collar which is casual, counter service, and outdoor harbor side dining. The lady that took our order explained that meals were ala-carte but sandwiches came with chips. We ordered twin 1 1/4 lb steamed lobsters, hotdogs for the kids, clam chowder, side of fries and onion rings. The lobsters were fresh and tasty when dipped in melted butter. Hotdogs had a natural casing and snapped with each bite. Fries and onion ring portions were huge. The clam chowder was creamy and delicious. Eating dock-side overlooking the lobster boats and harbor made it a nice New England experience.

After our whale watching excursion, we wanted to check out a local seafood spot. My cousin decided that we would try Blue Collar. It was nearby, by the water, and had outdoor seating. The menu had good options. I really wanted fried shrimp, and figured you couldn't go wrong with it. The service was quick and efficient. The seating area was nice as well and right by the water. We were able to order and get our food rather quickly. We were all really disappointed with the food. The fish was fresh, but the batter on the shrimp and onion rings was so bland...absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Not even salt! The coleslaw and fries were just as bad, unfortunately. I have definitely had much better seafood.

Awesome - love this place! This is one of my favorite places back home in MA. We usually go for an early dinner, try to snag a table closest to the water and order something fried and a few lobsters with beer. So yummy and always a hit.

We don't have access to great seafood where we live so figured we would give this a try- definitely not disappointed! What an amazing menu, quality of food and atmosphere. We ordered a wide variety of items, each unique. The clam chowder was some of the best we've ever had. The bing bang shrimp had a great crunch and the sauce was great. The poke bowl (shocked they had this option but so glad!!) with tuna was fresh, flavorful and better than most poke places. We also had onion rings that tasted great! My only critique is they could've used a bit more salt. I hope we get to come back here and try some more of their menu items, this is the definition of fresh.

My family and I came to visit Gloucester to shop for some Wicked Tuna gear and check out the docks. We found this AMAZING blue collar walk up restaurant behind the Gloucester House. You cannot beat the quality and prices! Very friendly service as well. We came on a good day because there was plenty of seating on the harbor.

It was incredibly crowded on Friday night, with wait times starting at half an hour, but the food was just average. Good restaurants are rare in small towns. 1.5 lb Steamed Lobster: The lobster was very cheap, only $32 for 1.5 lbs. It was relatively fresh, with firm meat and some paste, but not particularly plump, especially the claws, which were rather empty. Halibut Risotto: The halibut meat was coarse and tough. The risotto was cooked more like porridge than a firm, undercooked texture. Clam Chowder: Extremely salty. Truffle Fries: Quite ordinary. The fries were a bit cold, and it had black truffle and Parmesan cheese, but that was just about it. Pasta Chix Caesar Pesto: A seasonal dish, served to the kids at our table. The pesto had a strong raw nutty flavor, and the pasta was overcooked; no wonder the kids didn't like it, lol. Prickly Pear Spritz: It tasted like no alcohol, and no pear aroma; it was just like a glass of berry lemonade... and it was even served in a plastic cup--so unrefined!

The onion rings are low breaded more tempura style and still have some bite left to them, making them easier to eat than ones that have been fried to an inch of their life and come out in one piece from breading that could stand up on its own. These were refreshing in an area where deep fried food can leave you feeling heavy for hours. The bang bang shrimp were delicious, similar battering and frying with a thai chili style sauce. It is not very spicy, but the problem was deciding on what kidn of salad dressing to get with it on a salad. I recommend not getting the salad and just an order of shrimp with ranch. The salad was romaine and parm shavings. No other vegetables to speak of, but the shrimp was phenomenal. Additionally the lobster comes with butter, wet naps and an additional tray for the shell as you work your way t hrough. A nice setup, a nice view, and good food.

They have tables in the back & to get there, you have to walk through this tiny alley way. Note: not many tables available. Be prepared to possibly share a table with others! Here's what we ordered from our visit: - boiled lobsters 1 1/4 lb (2)-- $18/ea - clam chowder (4)-- $7/ea - smoked salmon --$8 - hot lobster roll-- $32 - stuffed clam (2)--$3/ea - Coca Cola We decided to get the 1lb1/4 boiled lobsters. It was $18/each and we got two of them. Looking back, we probably should've just gotten the 3/$50 deal but it's okay. This comes with melted butter on the side. Lobsters were fresh & easy to eat. No complaints here. My favorite was the clam chowder! It had the perfect consistency, not runny & not too thick. It was also pretty flavorful! The only thing I would've liked to add is a little salt but other than that, very good. I'm a lover of New England Clam Chowder & this was exactly what I was looking for! Now, as for the smoked salmon, I would not order this again. I don't really know how to feel about this to be honest but it just was not my cup of tea. I like baked salmon, broiled salmon, and fried salmon, but I did not like this. Very dry & bland. I personally had the hot lobster roll, which was sautéed in butter. Not bad overall. It was not the best hot lobster roll I've had but it was serviceable. I didn't expect it to be so tiny haha. Seems like lobster rolls in general have shrunk. For the price & the size, it's not bad. I've had $50 lobster rolls that were the same size and less enjoyable, so I guess I can consider this one a win! I think next time, I will opt for a boiled lobster instead. Lastly, the stuffed clams were all right. They were okay; more stuffing than clams. The food also wasn't very hot, just warm cold. Overall, not a bad spot to hit up for some fresh seafood. Prices aren't too bad & the food is definitely fresh!
