Seriously the owner is amazing! We stopped here because it popped up on our yelp and we are so glad. This is the best "fast" sushi EVER! No frills just perfect sushi! If your looking for real plates and wait staff this is not it. Order at the counter, easy to read menu (giant pictures on the walls). Nice selection of raw and rolls. We got the penguin platter of sushi and it didn't disappoint. A combination of 6 different rolls. Chef also offered us a complimentary fresh salmon and it was like heaven! I think I've gotten takeout from Goblin 6 or 7 times by this point, and I've never been disappointed. Quite the opposite - the quality of fish and variety of rolls that the offer is excellent. My first visit I indulged with the dosirak, it was SO GOOD. Not currently on the menu but if they ever bring it back I would like them to text me personally so I can be first in line! Follow up visits have resulted in multiple penguin party trays eaten (I always feel bad for the penguin at the end though!) and many a 3-piece nigiri demolished. The quality is certainly there, the menu is awesome and if you hang out on Instagram a lot, their videos are great too! I had no idea a place like this existed in Metro Detroit. Delicious sushi w/ authentic boutique Korean vibes! Cool Korean merch, and sushi chef Joe was so friendly & knowledgeable. The sushi here so very fresh & one of my favorite. I only wish I lived closer. The owner is nice if you ever get to chat w him. I recommend the sashimi to really enjoy the fish. The rice is a bit to get use to since it's warm and softer than what I'm use to. This place does get busy w takeout so order ahead. The service here is top notch, wholesome chefs that serve A grade sushi. I wasn't that hungry when I stopped by but I couldn't stop eating and trying new rolls! Outside the place doesn't look like much, as there was just a paper sign with the name of the place, but inside was so clean and cute! Cute, hidden gem in an area that's sorely lacking good sushi spots. Staff is super friendly, and service was prompt. I tried the sushi bowls, one salmon and the other spicy tuna. Both were delicious. Everything is super fresh, and their spicy mayo is amazing. If you don't want rice with the bowl, you can swap it for mixed greens. The only suggestion I would make is maybe they should slice the salmon into smaller pieces. The menu isn't huge, but it's enough. I'll definitely be back for more. read more

We waited on the order longer than the pick up time stated -- but that's understandable in this time of covid and people typically being understaffed lately. This was only my third time eating sushi so my review is not coming from an experienced sushi eater. We decided to meet here for lunch. I honestly had no expectations at all as I wasn't sure what to expect. When I parked I was surprised to see the strip mall it was in. But the Goblin stood out from the rest of the strip mall. The sign is bright and welcoming and pink curtains adorned the windows. When we walked in I was immediately surprised by the decor! With the name of "goblin" you don't expect it to be bright and airy. Beautiful soft pinks and blues surround you. It felt like I was in the bedroom of my dreams when I was 16. It was very beautifully decorated. You can either order from the wall menu or they have physical menus as well. I let him order because... Well I don't have a clue. He ordered a few items which we split. Everything was so fantastic! I ate until I could eat no more and let him finish the rest off. I have finally mastered chopsticks so I was proud of myself. Everyone was super friendly and attentive. We ended up sitting there chatting for quite a while and we're surprised at how busy they were with door dash orders and carry out! It's obviously a very popular spot! We asked about the new Detroit location and we're told that it is decorated even more beautifully! We will definitely be checking out the Detroit location. My son has been wanting to try sushi but ordering is intimidating to me. I think I may have enough knowledge to order for him now. I plan on bringing him back to try sushi for the first time. My first time trying The Goblin but won't be my last! I ordered in and sat at the bar. I had the nigiri set, which was 6 pieces of chef's choice nigiri and a California roll. The chef included an extra piece for me, so I ended up with scallops, squid, eel, tuna, salmon, shrimp, and yellowtail. It was all super fresh and absolutely delicious. The chef was nice enough to give me a piece of salmon belly nigiri, and then I finished it off with some more scallop, which turned out to be my favorite of the bunch. visited here today on a whim because we were in the mood for sushi! parking was easy since there is a lot outside. upon entering, I was pleasantly surprised at how cute the place was, very bright and colorful! We had the place to ourselves. The staff was super friendly as well- they were wearing masks which was great to see. Seconds after we sat down, one of the girls already brought water.
