Had really high expectations for this place given its glowing reviews & the amount of people in line on a Friday at noon. The bakery itself is very clean & all the pastries look beautiful in the bakery case, but my experience and the food here was overall mediocre. cinnamon roll (4/10): $10. It was massive but even after microwaving it for 30 seconds, it was very dry & lacked the traditional cinnamon flavor. The frosting lacked flavor as well. Cinnamon sugar cruller (3/10): didn't seem very fresh. Not crispy & had a pretty strong oily aftertaste. Service was ok -- wasn't greeted and the girl helping me with my order wasn't very nice. I probably wouldn't go back as there are many better bakeries out there!
Loved seeing The Goods grow throughout all these years in Carlsbad! Their donuts have always been delicious but I've recently started having more of their gluten free donuts and they truly are amazing. I will go out of my way to try any flavor because they are worth it. Probably the best gluten-free donuts I've ever had. Their regular donuts rock too and so does their coffee bar! Always pretty packed on the weekends but usually you can get lucky enough to find some seating. Nice place to work/study for a few hours during the weekdays too.
These are the best donuts in Carlsbad and the seasonal specials are always so tasty and creative. There are also a few vegan and gluten free options available as well. I previously worked here and all of the staff were so kind and friendly. The owners are truly wonderful and make this spot such a great hidden gem in downtown Carlsbad. I highly recommend stopping by for a sweet treat!
So this little cute shop is located in Carlsbad Village. We came on a Saturday morning at around 11am and it was pretty easy to find parking . There was a large lot maybe 1 block away that we parked at and then walked in from there. Inside, there was a line but it moved pretty fast. The donuts on display look so gooddd, we had to try one even though I was originally there for coffee. Person behind the donut area was really nice with great customer service! Cashier was the same! They have a little water stand you can get some water from too which was nice after chowing down on the donut. The donut itself was so good. Right amount of fluffiness and taste and crispiness. I'm still thinking about the donut and how good it was. I will come again one day.
I've come twice in the past month, they always get me with their seasonal flavors. My favorite year round flavors are the mixed berry and Boston cream pie donuts. I really enjoyed the recent seasonal flavors, bourbon peach and coconut donuts. Years ago they had a seasonal pumpkin donut that was the best donut I ever had, hope to see it back this fall!
Always a great stop in Carlsbad. The staff is genuinely friendly and helpful with providing recommendations when you have trouble deciding. The berry donut was excellent. You can really taste the quality. The café is spotless clean. As a serious coffee drinker, I have to recommend the iced coconut vanilla latte. Consistently hits the spot. Thanks to the Goods!
Cute experience, I liked the variety of pastries offered and tried their gluten free maple donut, it was really tasty, almost like a fluffy buttery cake! Coffees are yummy and the place looks cute and clean. Service is nice and welcoming :) (They don't take long for your order either) If you visit on a Wednesday, you'll also have the Farmers Market right outside!
Long line but moves quickly, they have indoor seating and coffee and matcha options. The shop is cute and there are gluten free options too. Located in downtown Carlsbad with street parking.
Everytime I go to the farmers market in Carlsbad I have to stop by The Goods for my donuts and coffee. They are excellent and great quality, flavor and freshness. It is very pleasant to be there with the flowers and nice people who are not attached to the phones but just enjoying good conversations. You can also get some nice cards and merch for last minute gifts. I likw the color palette of the coffee shop and the comfortable green seating area as well as the tables. All is clean and I like the bathroom floor, check it out, made with coins!
There was a long line to order but it moved fairly quickly. They have a great looking selection of donuts and I would like to go back to try them. I ordered a mocha (iced). Service was very friendly. Small wait for the drink to be ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating.

Definitely deserving of the name! This place has The Goods!!! The donuts were delicious and still warm. Tried the seasonal lemon berry. The inside lemon filling was tart and sweet. And the berry topping was divine! The apple fritter was perfectly cooked with sweet chunky apple filling. Only warning is it's very sweet - as a donut should be. Almost ordered another but glad we didn't as 1.5 sweet treats was perfect - filling and sugary. The staff was friendly and helpful. Was pleasant to sit inside and enjoy the sweet treats. Was a nice flow of customers, never busy or noisy. Highly recommend for those with a sweet tooth!
Cinnamon roll did NOT disappoint! Massive and covered in frosting, with extra available for purchase. I was expecting a 2oz ramekin but was thoroughly surprised when we saw two hefty scoops of frosting in a small to go container! The cashier was polite, friendly and service was quick. We took our order to go but there was seating inside and some outside as well. With rain in the forecast we decided not to stay this time. Cute decor, colors and furniture are welcoming/inviting.

Espresso is phenomenal. Such good flavor. Coffee made with precision and love. Don't even get me started on the pastries- chocolate croissant is heavenly. Especially taken home and warmed in the oven- crispy flaky croissant and melty chocolate goodness. Best way to start the day. My dog and I walk there weekly and they make a little soggy doughnut!! Coffee was okay, doughnuts were amazing ! Not a place to sit and try and work as there is no WiFi or plugs really, but a great place to pickup doughnuts. Service was polite and quick and it's a super cute shop inside ! read more

We came here after hearing a lot of great reviews and posts about how good and one of a kind this donut shop is! The interior was amazing and there were so many cute details that we got to enjoy- such as special candles and baby clothes awww. All just on the side of course, the main attraction are there donuts and omg. They are to die for. I got their classic vanilla glaze (wasn't feeling like getting something too sweet) and it was so soft and yummy. They had so many different and unique flavors and I definitely want to try their Boston Crème or their Vanilla Custard Cruffin next time I go! read more

It's a good thing we don't live near each other, The Goods. Well, "good" for me and my waistline, not as "good" for your bank account. ;-) I gave up on donuts when I was diagnosed with Celiac disease in 2001. Six years ago I went vegan and the idea of a gluten free AND vegan donut was truly laughable. You kind of accept there's certain things that will never be part of your life again and it's really no big deal because there's so much fabulous new food you discover in the GF/Vegan world that you never knew about in your previous life. Enter The Goods. My life was turned upside down when I found them a couple weeks ago. Sure, others have "options" for desserts like gf/vegan donuts, but they are subpar, at best. We tried every gf-vegan flavor they had: maple/coconut bacon, lemon poppyseed, powdered sugar/jelly and churro. Their gf/vegan churro is the thing dreams are made of. We loved it so much that we went back for more a couple days later to share with our carnivore neighbors. They're really polite people who I am sure were expecting a horrible experience but were polite and took a donut when offered. They flipped their lids at how awesome the gf/vegan churro donut was. My husband didn't eat his right away and they were virtually fighting to get his if he didn't eat it. I've visited four times in two weeks. All of the gf/vegan donuts are amazing. If my favorite weren't available, I'd gladly eat any of the other flavors. The employees are really nice, ALL of them, every time I visit. The Goods is doing something right and I'm happy to help keep them in business! read more

Being gluten-free & dairy-free, I had given up on ever having a good doughnut again. But then a gluten-free friend told me about The Goods, and my world has been rocked! They have a somewhat limited selection of GF vegan doughnuts (I had 4 options) - all of which I was thrilled with. When I look at the pic, I can still taste the yumminess! Phenomenal. And I so appreciate it! There were several more GF doughnut options (which weren't vegan). A true GF delight! Of course most people are here for their super yummy doughnuts (with all the gluten & dairy), and they walk away very happy. But it sure is nice to have options for those of us with dietary needs. read more

Walked around downtown Carlsband and I couldn't pass up the sweet smell of this bakery! My favorite was the strawberry jam croissant. I wish I could've tried the other croissants! They had a lot of choices and also serve drinks and breakfast items. read more
Regardless of my number of check-ins, I have actually had numerous donuts from here... not because I stop in regularly, but because they kept appearing in the break room at my work pre-Covid. While showing a friend around town, and knowing if I took him down this street, that he'd want a donut and I could tell myself "this wasn't my decision...", I was happy to stop in and grab a treat. *If* I ever have a donut, I prefer the lightness of Krispy Kreme, so I choose filled donuts as they are less dense. On my visit, I got the lemon mixed berry. I love that they make their own jams here and this donut had three different jams inside- the quality of ingredients makes the difference! It's well worth the price for a donut when coupled with the fantastic customer service they give. Overall, I love the huge selection here, the unique flavors and the vibe. The location is super cute. While not something I would ever choose on my own, I am not opposed to coming back if a friend ever wanted to check this place out. I really enjoyed my old fashioned donut and berry jam filled lemon donut. For the 2 donuts, my total was $7 and change. The have a wonderful assortment of old fashions, today I had the brown butter flavor. It was terrific, and for me, the lovely taste of vanilla that I got after each bite was a real treat. I usually never get filled donuts (because of bad experiences at other places that use really sugary artificial jam). However, I gave this place a try and was very impressed. They use seasonal berries and the large portion of jam inside the donut was absolutely refreshing. The lemon donut encasing the jam was great as well, a mild lemon flavor that complimented that berry jam perfectly. The donut was super filling! I split the 2 donuts with my fiancé and was super full afterwards! We came on a Saturday morning and waited 5 minutes in line. Limited to 3 parties at a time to order inside. We grabbed seats outside of the cafe and enjoyed these donuts while people watching. Definitely recommend! I am tempted to try the croissants next time. read more

Donuts, donuts, DONUTS! There's a lot of options in this area. This place is cute clean and has some unique flavors alongside traditional ones. I tried the blueberry pancake donut but I wouldn't get it again, it was a wee bit soggy? My daughter got the traditional sprinkle donut and it was delicious. Oh yes!!!!! When I found out about this gourmet donut shop I knew I had to go right away. Of course I went to Yelp to check it out and everything seem delicious. I went to check it out and I was impressed the decor is cool and simple, it's clean, the staff is friendly, and the donuts are delicious. One of my favvv donut places in SD! They're not your typical donut shop with the outrageous flavors and high quality ingredients here! I always make it a must visit whenever I am in the Carlsbad area. They have fantastic service, delicious coffee, and amazing donuts! My fav go to is the Prosecco flavor, because what is greater than a wine flavored donut!! Other notable flavors are the vanilla glazed, passion fruit, churro. They also have unique flavor rotations so it's never the same flavors when you visit. They also have a huge selection of vegan donuts which I can attest are also delicious! read more

Few things to consider: The inside of this place is a vibe and the architecture is super dope. Another thing to consider is how nice the staff is, my group of people ordered a coffee and ended up wanting to change it for something else, so the staff gave us a free new coffee! Haven't tried the donuts or food here but everything looks phenomenal. Shoutout to Dexter for helping us out! Also another thing to note is how high quality their toilet paper is, I know it's weird to mention something like that in a review but it was too good of a toilet paper to not mention lol read more

This place was awesome! The interior is designed super cute, loved the green cushions. They have a bunch of delicious doughnut flavors to pick from, it was honestly hard to decide. I'll definitely need to go back to try more. Service 5/5 The two men behind the counter were very friendly, and super efficient. It wasn't too busy when my friend and I were there but they finished my chai latte before my friend finished her order after me. Speedy! Food 5/5 The doughnuts were amazing! I got a simple glaze, sprinkle and strawberry cheesecake. My son enjoyed the glaze, the doughnuts themselves were fluffy and airy and the perfect amount of sweetness. They have a variety of gluten-free options as well. The chai latte was delicious, not much more to say but I'll be back for more. I have never had such wonderful custom donuts in my life. I walked in with a four pack of beer and their baker was kind enough to even help me pair my beer to the donuts as I purchased them. I went with the Boston cream, bananas foster, macha citrus cream and maple bacon. They were all absolutely delicious! My favorites were the bananas foster and macha citrus cream. Flavorful, fresh and a huge portion. I will definitely return here and recommend it 500%. I was deciding between ice cream and donuts, this was the best choice. This is a very busy "upscale" donut shop. Our group ordered a few different donuts. The Brown butter cake donut was my favorite. The raised donuts are a little too yeasty for me. The beignet was my second favorite but it's probably because it was perfectly warm. I'd have liked a bit more powdered sugar but it was a very good beignet. The lemon curd donut was also good but overly yeasty and the curd was a bit runny but finger lickin good. The offer sumptown coffee which isn't my favorite so I didn't indulge. If you're I. AMAZING donut shop located in the heart of Carlsbad Village of State Street. If you have any type of sweet tooth or are a remote fan of donuts, you owe it to yourself to give this spot a try. There hasn't been a flavor that we didn't love. From the classic glazed through variations of chocolate, in addition to wonderful fruity flavors, follow your heart and choose whatever speaks out to you. I have not seen that one, but they're website does list what they usually have. They might switch out flavors but not totally sure when.

They have both! Like 4-5 GF options and maybe 1-2 GF/vegan
Do they do online orders?
My wife searched for an online order system and didn't find one. However, you can pre-order a pickup by phone. It's the best way to beat those weekend lines if you want more than a doughnut or two.
Does this business sell the donuts as a dozen?
Yes; what's on hand, or, the secret: Order your special flavor(s) ahead of time by phone & avoid the lines!
Do they offer low carb donut?
Not that I saw. They have gluten free and vegan, but low carb is a tough one! There would be a lot of money for someone who invented a good tasting low carb donut :-)
