A great place for gourmet donuts. They have multiple gluten free and vegan options. This is not like your traditional donut shop so if that's what you're looking for this is not it. This is a more elevated and decadent experience. The coffee is also very very good. Service is quick and everyone was friendly. There isn't a ton of seating and was busy (it was Sunday) so it can get a bit cramped, but they were able to keep up with the crowd. We were in town for 4 nights and came here twice our first time we got the apple fritter which was perfect- not too sweet and fried perfectly. We made a stop at the goods this week which is always a much loved experience for the kids . But when would a kid ever not be happy to get any kind of donuts!?! When we are in Carlsbad the goods is a must to visit thanks to the grandparents. It's not your standard donut shop for sure. It's a little store down in the village not far from the beach. They have a few tables inside with just a few tiny tables outside. The store itself is clean and cute with modern to boho feels . We have only ever gone to just grab and go though. They do offer all kinds of teas and coffees. Like I said it's not your standard donut shop and the prices do show that. I don't think they have a donut cheaper than $3.25 , yet the quality is great ! They have just a few standard donuts that's always there but they change the others a lot. This visit we got a traditional chocolate donut ($3.25), a churro cruller ($3.75), two brown butter sea salt cake donut ($3.75), apple fritter ($4), blueberry cheesecake cinnamon roll ($5.50) which was $24 before tax. Love the brown butter sea salt donut it's moist and not too dense . I didn't get to try the cruller but my middle said it was two thumbs up! Had to get "The Goods" while I was in Carlsbad. The cute little donut shop was really bustling when I arrived. I knew I had to try their specialty donuts of the month, so I ordered the Peach Cobbler and the Fig and Mascarpone. They also had Banana Chocolate Croissant that I couldn't pass up. Everything was delicious! The peach jam in the Peach Cobbler tasted so fresh and the buttery, crunchy streusel added a lovely texture. The tahitian vanilla glaze tied it all together. The Fig and Mascarpone donut had a fresh fig jam and glaze with creamy, sweet mascarpone and pistachio crumble on top. It was a great balance of sweet, creamy, and nutty. The Banana Chocolate Croissant was divine. Crispy, flaky croissant filled with a luscious banana pastry cream and rich chocolate, topped with banana buttercream, chocolate ganache, and caramelized banana. The Goods is a gourmet donut shop in Carlsbad that has become well known for their photogenic pastries. The shop is cute and sandwiched between a series of small businesses on State St. There's a selection of street parking that makes it easy for out of towners to pop in for a treat. The staff was enormously helpful and had great recommendations for flavors. The donuts were delicious, particularly the Brown Butter donut that has a reputation as one of the best donuts in San Diego. However, their cinnamon roll was dry. Despite being covered in cream cheese icing, the pastry was missing the moist, flavorful cinnamon filling that could make this pastry next level. While the donuts were delicious, they were notoriously expensive. I would love to be a regular at The Goods, but their high prices create a barrier to customers that I hope changes in the future so more people will be able to indulge in their delicious desserts. read more

This spot has nearly 1000 5star reviews and has been featured in every local San Diego food/business magazine in publication so the bottom line is that they produce quality donuts and other food items but the donuts are the main attraction. That is....if you consider these creations donuts??!! The bakers come up with some funky and incredible creations such as the one I'm about to try this morning, the Bourbon Peach Cobbler!! (see photo attached). Now the prices per donut are expensive for donuts but when you see at what you are paying for the $4.50 is reasonable. So the reason for my 3 Star review?? The service this morning. Now typically the service is fine to exceptional, however this morning the young lady that helped me didn't do all that much helping. The Goods are somewhat known for having "healthier options" such as gluten free. My son, we just found out, is highly intolerant of gluten (sucks for a 5 year old kid!)which is the reason I came to the Goods today. As I walked in there was no line and not that busy (few guests eating at tables) yet nobody welcomed me or offered anything despite the fact that the young lady and I caught each other's eyes. So I walked up to the counter and said to her, "Don't you all have Gluten free donuts?" She pointed to the end of the rack where there were about ten rows of mixed up donuts and says to me " yea it's the ones that say Gluten Free." I am realizing now that reading these words don't do the encounter justice. The tone she used made the experience all the more unpleasant! Now I like to think of myself as fair and reasonable so I'm considering that maybe this lady had a rough night...possibly her cat died of unknown causes or she came home to find her toilet overflowing...I don't know but again, I am reasonable Or possibly the customer she had before me was unbelievably rude toward her and maybe he ordered $80 worth of the Goods and told her to, "Keep the change!" Which turned out to be 11 cents. Again, I don't know! So Goods, we'll be back and hopefully everyone is in better spirits! read more

And by normal, I mean there are a handful of "standard" donut flavors that you'd expect, and then some really unique options as well. It was pretty poppin' when we dropped in around 10am on a Saturday, but the line moved pretty quickly. The dude had a tahitian vanilla gluten free donut, AND IT TASTED LIKE A DONUT. I cannot emphasize enough how much I usually hate his gluten free goodies, but this donut was so good. It tasted like a very good normal donut. He was absolutely thrilled about it. I had the lilikoi filled donut, and the filling was super tasty and the donut light and fluffy perfection. The best cinnamon roll in San Diego. I previously visited The Goods through a Yelp Elite event so I wasn't allowed to write a review ( Yelp Elite Rule #13). However this time it was on my own dime... Gourmet Donuts in this price range almost always disappoint, but The Goods does a great job with theirs. We were walking through the Carlsbad Street Faire and noticed this donut shop was open ( I think they were closed previous years). They were selling some baked goods outside, and the shop was open with more donuts inside. Specifically, the Cinnamon Rolls caught my attention. These weren't sampled at the Elite event so I grabbed one here. It was so soft and it had a huge a mountain of icing ( I believe they used a brick laying trowel to apply that heaping portion of icing on top). It was amazing, the best I've had in San Diego. Their standard cup of coffee is great too, though expensive. It's Stumptown so it's a little thick on hype and image. Better tasting than Philz Coffee tho... Let me start off by saying I love the Goods! Tried the churro crueller today which was excellent! We came just before closing so I imagine it would have been phenomenal had they been fresh. Secondly, their cinnamon roll, and the one at Cafe topes, which are one and the same, is the greatest cinnamon roll ever. And I've gone on record, telling everyone about this cinnamon roll and how it's the absolute best. And yet, when I ordered it this time around, it was a tad disappointing. It's dry and not at as flavorful as it used to be. I'm literally tearing up right now, thinking about it, and the fact that I'm about to lose my favorite cinnamon roll. Yum yum yummy This place is so so worth a visit! It's such a cute little donut shop with fancy donuts! They're like the side car donuts of north county! So I've tried pretty much all of the flavors, including the seasonal ones, but my all time fav would have to be the brown butter my kids love the churro cruller and Nutella one. Yes they are as expensive as a cup of coffee, but they are also bigger than your average donut and fancy! It's not over the top like you have to sit down with a knife and fork, but it's pretty close.
