I only wish the food matched the atmosphere. Saturday night I ordered the Rib Eye steak. It said a 1 pound Rib Eye, I had never heard shoe leather sold by the pound. We where being treated to dinner by a friend who had chosen the restaurant so I didn't want to send it back. I ate a few bite and and when asked I said I was full. I did enjoy the salad and a very good melted lava cake desert. I guess what I would advise is think twice before ordering a $40 steak which can't be chewed. We went to Laughlin on a spur of the moment weekend getaway. We happened to see the gourmet room and we decided to have dinner. Tom is the first person you meet and I cannot even explain how nice, welcoming and just great he was. He sat us at a beautiful table overlooking the river. Now we have the best waiter Thaddeus he was so nice, professional, knowledgeable, he was there when you needed him but definitely made sure to not be there to much. Actual name should be The Martini Room, not The Gourmet Room unfortunately. I'll start with the pros: the view is amazing, the service is polite and attentive, the self playing piano adds to the ambiance and the happy hour (5-7) martinis for $3.75 are a killer deal at such a nice location. Now for the cons: the food. I really wanted to like the food but the mussels were so over cooked that they were like rubber, the fried chicken wings had the opposite problem being flaccid and had no crunch and the crab bisque had an overwhelming flavor of raw flour. My husband and I promptly picked up a take out pizza after our meal here. Come for the happy hour martinis, gorgeous view and excellent service. I suggest a polite pass on the food though. read more

I was pretty disappointed with this place. That's probably my fault for having any kind of expectations, but I was really looking forward to coming here and was bummed by the experience. We came during happy hour, and as expected, it was very busy. We were quickly seated but not asked if we wanted a drink for quite a while. When we were served, it felt rushed and stressed. The waitress seemed unhappy. I think these guys were way understaffed. The appetizers were okay, and the oysters tasted fresh. The shrimp cocktail was tasty and a good deal. The lounge area is gorgeous and the piano playing and fireplace were cool. I can see why people like this place aesthetically. There was no happy hour pricing on the wine, which was mediocre (like Yellowtail) and overpriced. The stressed, indifferent wait staff really left a bad taste in my mouth. I understand we were dining at peak hours, but a little friendliness and acknowledgement would have went a long way. I'm sure this place is a delight during dinnertime, but I don't think I will be coming back again next time. read more

My wife and I along with a friend ate here about a week ago. We had two fillets and our friend had prime rib and felt that all of the steaks and sides were excellent. Service was outstanding. Such a mixed experience, not really sure how to even begin. At 9 PM: - We called to see if the Prime Rib room was open - which they were but said that they didn't think they would have any more seats open before the last seating because of the line. - We called the Gourmet Room - and they said they had seating available but the last seating is at 9:30. I told them there would be a table for three and we would be there in 10 minutes. I get there at 9:05, but the two other individuals in my party were delayed so they seat me at the table while I wait. Up to this point, I'm pretty impressed. It's a nice ambiance; our table was right next to the window. It was pretty quiet and there weren't many tables being seated. The waiter comes up to me and asks about drinks - and I say an old fashioned. I'm a little confused about what happened here, because he made it seem like I was ordering the drink for everyone else (that hadn't arrived) except me - and I had to specifically tell him it was for me, and he could bring it to me while I waited for the others to show up. The drink is an average drink with average ingredients. One of my biggest complaints when making an old fashioned is that they always seem to water it down with something. The other people arrive at the table at the table about 10 minutes after I do, and the waiter immediately comes over and says that we only have a few minutes to read the menu and decide what we want because the kitchen is closing soon. If we were eating at some podunk restaurant in the middle of BFE, I would expect this type of behavior - but this place is definitely a jewel for the Laughlin area (which is why I didn't give it 1 star). What kills me even more, is that if the last seating is at 9:30 and we get there at 9:30, I wouldn't expect them to mention the fact that the kitchen is closing soon - because their last seating is 9:30. The food comes and everyone is thoroughly impressed with it. But towards the end, the waiter was intensely staring at a person in my group which made him feel really awkward, the exchange was something like this: Patron: Is there something I can help you with? Because you are staring at my while I eat and its making me rather uncomfortable? Waiter: (Walks over) I'm sorry - could you repeat that? Patron: You are staring at me while I eat, I don't like it, its bothering me. Is there something I can help you with? Waiter: Oh no - I'm sorry, I was staring at the river. Patron: Okay, well, get out of here - I don't want to see you staring at me while I try to enjoy my meal. While the food was good, and the service was exceptional, the gentleman waiting our table was less than pleasant to deal with and was pretty rude the entire time. read more

We made reservations for 5 pm on a Sunday afternoon. There were lots of people in the the lounge having a great time listening to the live piano and enjoying the view of the river. My wif e and I were sat right up against the glass lookig over the river. It was an amazing view. The wait staff were fantastic. The food was wonderful. I had the veal medallions and my wife had the filet mignon. She likes her meat well done and she had her steak butterflied. It was still very tender and flavorful. I would recommend having it medium rare however. We enjoyed wine, coffee, and a New York Cheesecake for dessert and the bill was only $103 dollars! We arrived at roughly 6:00pm during happy hour and couldn't find 2 seats together open at the bar so we sat in the lounge area. We hoped to find a seat by the windows to enjoy the amazing view, but we had to settle for a tiny 2 top near the entrance. The waitress was on the ball and very polite and sweet. We absolutely loved the Oyster's Rockefeller, and the French Onion Soup was to die for. The house wine wasn't the best I ever had, but the glass was big and filled to the top. Priced affordably during the happy hour, prices reflected on our bill showed they went up considerably after the happy hour. Next time we will get there earlier as to benefit from the extremely good deals during their happy hour. All of the Food - drink - service- and prices were all to our liking but what made this dining experience absolutely horrifying were the people we sat next that worked there. A middle aged European man who I would assume was the chef since he was wearing a chefs jacket and a younger woman who appeared to be a manager as well.. I am going to assume they are more than just working associates because of the way they were constantly bickered and fought with each other. Their constant fighting and whining was the most annoying thing that made we want to chug my wine by the gallons to put up with them. I would have complained to management, but they were the management and I was afraid I would be directed to speak with them. Had my beautiful wife's birthday dinner almost ruined. We made a 7:00pm reservation well in advance, but when we arrived we were made to wait 40 minutes before we were seated, although the restaurant was practically empty with less than 20 people in the entire restaurant. Once seated it took 15 minutes for our waiter to show up and offer us something to drink. The service was extremely slow throughout the evening. Even during desert I had to ask several times for a cup of coffee. Once again I want to point out that there were maybe 20 people in the restaurant, and over 50% of their tables empty... I wonder why. By the time we ended dinner it was almost 10:00pm which caused us to miss our show. The food food was good, but unless you have all night I would ask if they are fully staffed before having dinner there. The 2-Stars are for the food not the service. read more

This is, by far, my favorite restaurant in Laughlin. From the ambiance to the staff to the food, you get an experience you will never forget. This stay I enjoyed the house salad tossed table side with the best house dressing I have ever had in my life. My entree was the veal piccata with linguine and marinara...I didn't want it to end. Hubby had the lobster tails and he said they were so good they didn't even need the butter or lemon. Before dinner they bring you a delightful sorbet to clean your palate. We were in Laughlin on New Year's Day to catch a movie and had planned to go to another restaurant for dinner, but that restaurant was unable accommodate us before our movie. COVID standards were in place and Being observed. Appetizers and drinks as well as pre dinner soup were phenomenal. Service was outstanding. Major downfall was the main course I ordered the chicken Parmesan and my wife ordered the egg plant Parmesan, the eggplant tasted as though they were warmed from the freezers from Costco very bland and doused with marinara sauce. The chicken Parmesan was so overly cooked it was rubbery. We also witnessed other tables returning food plates. I would give it one more try based on the great service hoping the food will improve. The price tag matched the lovely room, beautiful table, adventurous menu and great service. However the food itself was inedible! Saturday night 5 out of 7 guests at our tables (limit 4 at a table) sent food back to the kitchen because of inferior quality and not cooked to order. The same raw steaks were reheated and returned to the table. The seafood didn't actually get sent back but the scallops were the only pieces that were chewable in the dish; the clams, muscles and lobster were so overcooked they couldn't be eaten. The cute sorbet was just a bit pretentious for a two course meal but a nice touch none the less. Obviously there is no actual cooking going on in the kitchen but it appears that they're reheating what ever comes in cans and bags. For the price, that's not good enough. read more

We loved the Riverside seating with beautiful panoramic views, and the fun breads served with 2 types of butter was a plus. White linen and great service exemplified the experience from all the other restaurants in Laughlin. We went for hors' devours. We shared the shrimp cocktail, cheese plate and a few glasses of wine. A quick meal got us out of there by 7 and onto the blackjack tables, which were by far my favorite dealers in Laughlin. Went here on a recommendation and boy did we love it. The views. Can I saw more? Ok, the VIEWS!!! They have floor to ceiling windows overlooking the river. We went at 6:30 p.m. and had lovely views, table right on the window. The servers and host were so accommodating. Wow - I had good service all weeked in Laughlin, but they outdid themselves. The bartender was great as well. They have Happy Hour from 5 to 7pm daily (I believe) with great prices for martinis, beer and mixed drinks. $3.50 for the martinis. Wow! We also had an escargot app at the bar - yummy!!! After being seated, they have an early bird dining special through 6:30 p.m. - though I don't think it is everyday of the week. For under $20 you had a nice selection of many entrees, including filet and several fish dishes (I had the rainbow trout stuffed with crab meat - yummy). The salad was included and was grea. This restaurant is in Don Laughlin Riverside Casino on the 2nd floor. There is also an adjacent Prime Rib room, same type of views, but when I looked into it it looked a bit hectic. Way above our expectations! When the name of the restaurant is the Gourmet Room, you might wonder why they need to tell us that. But it was right on. We were greeted right away when we arrived for our reservations. The bar was full and lively with a live pianist playing some great oldies. We were seated at a lovely table next to the window and overlooking looking the river. Thaddeus greeted us and brought our wines right away. We opted not to have an appetizer to save room for the rest. My hubby had the French onion soup which was delicious, while my mom and I had the bacon spinach salad. The salad was prepared table side with some flambéing at the end. We had to hold back from licking our plates! So yummy!!! I had the Blue Cheese Crusted Flat Iron steak which was tasty but not as good as my mom's beef k bobs made with a filet. My hubby had the stuffed shrImp. All the menu items come with soup or salad, a sorbet course, and the entree. The prices were VERY reasonable for the quality of the food. Thaddeus was awesome! He was very talented and knowledgeable.
