This restaurant is really laid-back so you don't have to dress up. It's good For small get-togethers with Friends or family dinner. The leading is good. All the servers and hosts are welcoming.. It's exactly what you would picture in a small town. The food was very good the portion size bigger than average. the taste of the food was delicious. They served from burgers to the Friday special prime rib to seafood and all was delicious.. I'm glad we came here the night before our volunteer.. the price average for dinner. I definitely would recommend coming and next time in I'm in Bastrop. I'll be sure to come back here.

    So cute.

We went here for a date night after a day on the river. It was perfect. The food was amazing. We had the chips & queso appetizer. My husband ordered the bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. I had the pan-fried trout with garlic mashed potatoes & green beans. He had the peach cobbler & ice cream while I had the carrot cake for desserts. We left stuffed, of course, after all that food, but it was so good, I couldn't say no to dessert. The sweet potato fries were amazing. So was the complimentary salsa that came with the chips. The trout plate was so great. The wait staff were very friendly & the place was just adorable & situated in the heart of downtown. I'll definitely go back when I'm visiting Bastrop again.

And the brownie says it all!!

Excellent food and service! We were hungry, they were fast and we sure enjoyed it!! He had chicken fried steak and I had the catfish. A giant brownie to go!

After a weekend of camping and hiking, I was starving--and this cheeseburger hit the spot! Parking on a Sunday was a battle, but worth every bite. Juicy, flavorful, and that special Dijon sauce? Game changer. I usually never finish a whole burger, but this time I did. Cozy spot, great service, and a burger that'll make you forget how tired you are.

Camping at Bastrop State Park and went into town for a Mardi Gras festival. Ate lunch here. Very popular and so very crowded. Our waitress was very good but very busy. They have inside and outdoor seating. Wooden walls mixed with corrugated tin to give a country rustic atmosphere. It is a nice atmosphere and we had a really nice lunch. The modified the hamburger steak for me and removed the gravy and added cheese and grilled onions, instant smash burger. I would recommend them and definitely eat here again!

    Catfish platter with green beans

Overall, a nice experience for a first-time visit. The staff was attentive, the food was reasonably priced, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I ordered the catfish platter, but the fish tasted a little off to me. Unfortunately, I ended up with food poisoning later that evening, which was disappointing after an otherwise positive visit.

We love cute small town restaurants, and this hit the spot! From when I walked in and saw the dessert case, I knew I had to save room for dessert, so I ordered the chef salad for my main course. My husband tried their burger with cream cheese on it, because that sounded unique. He added jalapeños, to make kind of like a jalapeño popper flavor profile. My salad was as expected, but a little scant on toppings. My husband thought his burger was a good choice. We might have to try to make our own cream cheese burgers again! I asked our server what their best dessert was, and she said the brownie. Fortunately, that was the first thing that had caught my eye, and I was secretly just hoping for confirmation that it was good. Not only was it good, it was huge! I took some home. Gracie's is another reason on the list of reasons to go out to Bastrop!

Popped in for lunch. Was craving a burger. Green chile burger did not disappoint. Very juicy, very tasty. Needed an extra napkin to clean it up as it dripped down my hand and forearm. Sweet potato fries were good as well.

So I love supporting local businesses when I go to small towns, that have a lot of history. I was excited when we found Grace Miller. Their website looked amazing, and they also had a full bar. We called ahead to see what the wait was, because in Bastrop, especially older buildings, they tend to have limited space. We were told that there was plenty of space for our party of 3 and we were right around the corner. When we walked in, it was packed, and we had to sit at a little table, because one person was sitting at a 4 top. Our waitress came over and gave us menus and said she would be with us shortly. Probably about 5 to 10 minutes later, another group of 4 came in and sat right across from us, and they actually had their order taken before us. Then the waitress came over to us and said, did you hear what I told them, when she talked about the specials. We said no, and she went ahead and repeated the specials. I ordered the grilled trout, with green beans and the mashed potatoes. My husband got the chicken fried steak and my kid got the catfish platter. My trout was pretty good. It was seasoned well. My mashed potatoes were decent. But what I didn't know when I ordered the green beans is that they have meat in them and I am pescatarian, so I asked for another side. I chose corn and it was brought out quickly, but when we got the receipt , I was disappointed because they charged me extra to get another side even though I did not eat the green beans. My daughter's catfish came with 2 filets. One was cooked well, but 1 was undercooked. She got French fries for her side and they were good. My husband's chicken fried steak was okay. It wasn't necessarily seasoned as much as he would have liked it, but no major complaints. He also got sweet potato fries for his side. But they were cooked to the point of almost being burnt. So personally, will we come here again? Probably not, we were not impressed with the service and the food was just mediocre. I have gone to other places in Bastrop and had much better food and dining experiences.

This is Bastrop's Music Festival for 2023!!! Yall, it'll be great music until September 28!!!! Don't miss the fun.

The food and atmosphere were great. Service was a bit slow but they were short handed I think. I'll go back.

Don't sleep on the Peach Cobbler A La Mode! Probably the best dessert I have had and certainly the best cobbler I've ever had.

I genuinely cannot believe I've never written a review for Paw-Paw's Catfish House because we have…read morebeen coming here for YEARS and I love this place so much. There are restaurants you try once because they're trendy... and then there are places like Paw-Paw's -- the kind that become part of your family's story over time. From the fried deviled eggs, to the seafood platters, to the chicken tenders, to the genuinely wonderful staff, there just isn't a better spot for this kind of old-school comfort food experience. And the staff? Always SO friendly and welcoming. Every single time we come in, it feels less like "customer service" and more like old friends excited you finally stopped by so they can catch up with you awhile. That kind of warmth cannot be faked, and it makes such a difference. Now let's discuss these fried deviled eggs. Because respectfully... who allowed them to be this good? You think deviled eggs have reached their final form and then Paw-Paw's comes in like, "Hold my beer." Crispy, crunchy, creamy, flavorful perfection. We start most meals with them because not ordering them would simply be poor decision making at this point. I usually get the chicken tender basket and LISTEN -- these aren't sad little freezer tenders pretending to be a meal. These tenders are literally as big as my hand. Juicy, tender, flavorful, cooked perfectly every time. My adult kids are obsessed with the seafood platter: three pieces of fried catfish and three jumbo fried shrimp with fries, pinto beans, slaw, hushpuppies, and homemade tartar or cocktail sauce. And when I say the catfish tastes CLEAN, my fellow seafood people will understand exactly what I mean. No muddy taste, no weirdness -- just fresh, crispy, perfectly fried fish done right. And the portions? Paw-Paw did NOT come to play. Nobody is leaving hungry unless that was a personal choice. What I love most, though, is the feeling of the place. The small-town care. The heart that clearly goes into the food. The old-school comfort vibe that feels increasingly rare these days. Places like this matter. And Paw-Paw's is absolutely one of them.

While the restaurant presents itself as charming at first glance, the illusion quickly fades upon closer inspection. The facilities are notably dated, with restrooms that feel neglected rather than merely "vintage." Unfortunately, the food follows suit. The chicken arrived undercooked to the point of being unacceptable, the salads were devoid of flavor, and the mashed potatoes--if one dares to try them--proved equally disappointing. I found myself seated at the counter, making pleasant conversation with a delightful young waitress, which, regrettably, became the highlight of the entire experience. Any lingering amusement, however, was quickly diminished by a particularly persistent fly that seemed intent on joining me for dinner. In short, an establishment that relies far too heavily on appearance and reputation, while neglecting the fundamentals that truly matter.

The biscuit was light, not heavy (if you threw it at someone, they would have a concussion). My wife had the bacon and eggs, with home fries and toast. Never disappointed when we come here.
