When we walked in this place didn't feel at home got an not so friendly look . As we stood there waiting for someone to show us to our table the lady that gave a not so friendly look said nothing to us. Then a friendly young lady helped us. The food was ok but way to much breading on the chicken fried steak it was kinda doughy . Like it was not cooked all the way. The shrimp ! Now the shrimp was freaking huge . It looked like chicken legs. The shrimp was good wasn't crazy about the sauce they use , but that was ok. The broccoli was over cooked. The fries were ok too. The carrot cake was good as well. I know that almost every place to eat is short staffed. Due to no one wants to work anymore. I over look this when I dine out. However, when you order an appetizer, and the waitress forgets comes back said they are out that she didn't hear them say that. We waited an hour for our food. Which may I add was horrible. My sons chicken tender meal was burned, and fries were hard as a rock. My food was just as bad. I wait so long, and hungry yes I did eat the food. There was a couple of times I wanted to walk out. The only good thing about Gracie's is the live music there. I was so upset, that I really couldn't enjoy it. I have said I will give it another try, maybe they were off, and they are short handed. Okay... So, my hubby and I are on a date, trying to re-Kindle some romance by going on a "date night". After we left the movies, we decided we wanted to try something "local" and have heard so many good things about this restaurant. I guess I should have gone on here first, would have saved myself having to become agitated, hungry and a bad "date night". My hubby ordered the chicken Cordon Bleu. I ordered a 10oz sirloin steak- medium, with garlic taters and green beans. After sweating what H2O I had left in my body out (inside was smoky and hotter than outside), our waitress greeted us (about 8mins after being seated). Table was dirty and waited another 5 mins to get it wiped off and our iced teas served. About 20 mins into our "Grace Miller experience", we had our orders taken. When we finally received our food (33 mins in and unannounced to us, they had a new cook) I was asked to cut into my steak. It was well done. To avoid embarrassing my hubby, I decided to just eat it. It was thee worst steak I have ever attempted to consume. It tasted as if it was the butt end of the cow. No flavor and mostly fat and gristle. It was inedible. The garlic mashed potatoes were flavorless, even with an extreme amount of salt and pepper. The only consumable food on my plate were the rubbery green beans, only after much salt. The Texas toast was hard and cold, like it had been sitting for hours waiting for its next victim. The ONLY reason I gave "Gracie's" two (2) stars is due to the fact that they took this horrible experience off my ticket. So, after this experience, I will caution anyone who wants to "try" this place. Don't say I didn't warn you! read more

First timer with a group of ladies for lunch. The place was busy, but we a table was cleared for us pretty quickly. There is almost as much outdoor dining space there as indoor dining space. It was a little on the chilly side to really enjoy sitting outside. Another time maybe. I ordered the grilled tilapia and mango salsa with pasta and Brussels sprouts. The tilapia was covered in the delicious salsa. There was a bit of a kick with the jalapenos which is perfect for me. The angel hair pasta was light enough in flavor that it didn't compete with the salsa. The Brussels sprouts (while they didn't go necessarily with the rest of my meal) were perfectly cooked. The only thing I didn't try was the bread as I'm not a big bread person and I was full by the time I ate everything else on my plate. The ladies at my table tried the grilled trout, chicken cordon blue, and fried shrimp. Everyone was in agreement that they enjoyed their meals and not much was left on our plates. Service was excellent. I would definitely come back, especially since I saw their Yelp check-in offer for 20% chicken-fried steak. I've been here a couple times and it was pretty good. No complaints in the food department. But when I went this last time, the service was VERY lacking and they had somewhat of an attitude with my grandma. Very disappointed. Had the chips and queso. The Chips were hot and tasty but the bottom of the basket was greasy and the cheese tasted like it was canned and store bought. I ordered a cream cheese burger topped with bacon and grilled jalapenos. It was delicious! My main complaint is with their prices. We went for lunch and the total bill was almost $30 dollars for two people. I could have gone to chili's and paid less and had more food. They are a small town restaurant with an old diner feel, and they seem to forgotten that. If they scaled their prices back some for lunch and offered more value options like endless chips, potato chips or fries with no extra cost, couples deals, larger slices of dessert or just a lunch special. i think they would have much more traffic. My second complaint was with the service, the waitress was friendly enough but seemed scattered and we had to wait while she chatted and then counted her drawer before she brought us the check. The customer must come first. I understand she had to count her drawer and go home, but you have someone else take over your tables before you do that. I will go back, but next time i will bring more cash and it will likely be for a special occasion. I would never go here just to grab lunch with friends. Ill take them to chili's instead. read more

I hate to do this because we've ALWAYS had great food and service. But this last time we went, they were out of a lot of stuff, then it took an hour to get our food. While mine was piping hot, my hubby got a frito pie and they obviously got his done a lot earlier than mine, because it was ice cold. He would've sent it back but he was really hungry by then and didn't want to say anything. The waitress never checked on us either. Just all around bad experience which was disappointing. So I got a carry out order of chicken fried chicken for lunch today (delivered by my darling husband!) and.... It was freakin' delicious! High five to the crew over there for making some fantastic food and for packing it in a way that it was perfect upon delivery... gravy in a cup on the side, chicken, green beans, and mashed taters each in their own compartment, a piece of foil on top with my beloved Texas toast safely on top! I have eaten at this restaurant many times, lunch, dinner, inside and patio, and each time I walk (waddle) away happy with the food and service. Couldn't ask for more. I have to base my review on what I ate, I'm sure some of their other food is great. I had the green chili cheeseburger...the patty wasn't seasoned properly and had all the juice cooked out of it. The bun was too much for the size of the burger, way...way too much bread to meat ratio!. You could not tell that there were green chilies on the burger and the tomato that I got still had part of the stem attached to it. Stopped by on my way to Austin to check out their famous chicken fried steak. The breading was crisp and crunchy, and the beef was tender. I asked them to make it into a sandwich with he gravy on the side and they were really nice about it. My husband ordered it with sides and they were little blander than I prefer. Nothing a little salt and pepper couldnt fix. My daughter ordered a bacon cheeseburger which she said was really good. Served with a buttery toasted bun. Never again. Nasty service. Nasty food. They're supposed to be an award winning chicken fried steak. No. Sorry. Had better. Asked for baked potato and apparently they ran out. My husband ordered the prime rib and apparently it was still frozen. And it was going to take a few mintues longer to cook. He was like fine. And guess what? They're brought out a sirloin steak practically mooing!!!!! And they charged for a prime rib. The garlic mashed potatoes were so dry. No flavor. The broccoli was literally pale. And just to add insult to injury the server took more than 5 minutes to bring out the sweet tea that was horrific. We had the catfish and the Penne Rustica (which is billed as their signature dish) -- both suffered from an overuse of canned and processed ingredients, and were frankly pretty mediocre. But the veggies and mashed potatoes have missed every time. The green beans and black eye peas always taste straight from a can and have been soggy and limp each time I ordered. Not delicious.
