My recent experience at The Great Catch left much to be desired. The restaurant's ambiance was decent, and the potential for a great dining experience was there, but unfortunately, it fell short! First and foremost, the service was disappointing. The staff seemed indifferent and inattentive, making us feel like an afterthought rather than valued customers. We had to wait quite a while just to be acknowledged, and it was a struggle to get their attention. When a waitress finally came over and we asked about whole belly clams she said they no longer have them on the menu... So disappointing since this is why we went. Regrettably, the combination of subpar service and no whole belly clams left us feeling disheartened, and we ultimately decided to leave before even placing our order. read more

Came in Sunday for lunch and the place was pretty empty. Took 45 minutes after ordering to get food and it was mediocre at best. Decided sone seafood and decided to try TGE GREAT CATCH . Very quiet environment looks very family themes and local type of place. Looks like it's been around for a while interiors wise. Has a very 80's JAWS Local bar kinda vibe. The hosting is friendly as well as waitress , the lunch menu was explained. 11-2pm lunch I decided to get the blackened Basa with coleslaw and a cup of New England clam chowder , for an extra $4.99 .. right away they bring the SAUCES YUMMY .. Tarter , hot sauce, BBQ The food came pretty quick in a plastic container old school .. delicious nice pics the coleslaw is one of the best I've had around here. We called ahead since we were a party of 7 and when we arrived there was a table ready for us so we could east our late lunch. We started with the calamari, gator, fried cheese, and fried mushrooms. They all came out hot and cooked perfectly. The table enjoyed the appetizers and how quick they came out to the table. I knew we had a lot of the appetizers so I opted to just go with the clam chowder. It did have lots of clams and potatoes and good seasoning. I really enjoyed the soup. It was not super think (which is my preference). The kids ordered the fried shrimp and the grilled salmon. They both liked their selections and ate all of the food. They both thought the fries were really good too. The server was great and kept drinks full and checked to make sure we were all doing well. I saw this place on Instagram, which I am normally weary of, but my husband and I decided to go anyway. As someone who grew up in the northeast, this is probably one of my favorite seafood places I've tried in FL so far. The place looks like it could be set in downtown Boston (but with nicer people) From the wonderful service, to the appetizers and the main course, they did not miss a beat! We had the fried shrimp and hush puppies for apps, the shrimp was not overdone, not a bunch of breading. The hush puppies were fully cooked but not dry. I had the seafood casserole with pasta and my husband chose shrimp and scallops. The only thing I'm upset about is I couldn't eat it all at once. We came on a Tuesday, but will be back on a Wednesday when it's all you can eat Basa, shrimp and wings. We will be back many times going forward so we can try everything on the menu!! (P.S. The food looked good, but was tasteless. The red snapper and salmon liked amazing but had no flavor. The fries looked amazing but tasted like it was cooked in old oil. The appetizers were ok. Again, a nice neighborhood joint, off the beaten path. We live close so we wanted to love this place. The service was meh. We were supposed to have a server but she never came, then my husband asked the hostess for service and another server came over and said she would take our drink order... then ended up taking our app order, and just finished with our entrees. We recently dined in the new location. This was not a good experience. The waitress took a long time to get our drinks and even longer to take our order. It seemed there was plenty of help, but unorganized and time consuming. We waited one hour for our food and when it was delivered, 2 were complete, 1 was incorrect, and the last one was never delivered until much later. There was NO management presence ever. Do not let the pictures on the menu fool you, their food looks nothing like that when it comes out. This place belongs on the TV show Kitchen Nightmares. All of our food was terrible and the managers response was to tell me she doesn't like the Mahi either, since it's dry. It shouldn't be! I would give zero stars on the food quality if I could! They made the same deal for one of the others at our table so the made a sub and cut it in half. He got most of the meat and I got most of the bread. We picked this place from other reviews and wanted good seafood since our local place in Hudson closed down. The baskets were large and you get 2 sides. I upgraded to hush puppies for 99 cents and that was a great decision. You can get grilled, fried, and blackened in the baskets which is great to have that choice. The service was excellent and everything generous. We would have preferred to sit in the patio but I think it is being resurfaced so we hope to try that next time. read more

And omg are their oysters done right. Big, and delicious. Not over breaded and not over cooked. Luckily the very helpful lady at the take out window pointed me to the dinner (vs sandwich or plate) which has 40% more oysters (Whoopi!) and comes with two sides. I went with the house made onion rings and baked beans. Both really good. As if a giant plate of oysters wasn't enough, I couldn't leave without trying the foot long lobster roll. This was so delicious. The bread to meat ratio was spot on (way more meat than bread). Not too much dressing so you can let the lobster shine. Cooked perfectly. Mind you i had a 10min drive home before we ate and I'm still raving about food that should been eating right away. Just imagine how good it will be fresh in the restaurant. I came here for their famous lobster roll and added a clam chowder as well. It was a perfect amount of food. For $16, you get a GENEROUS amount of lobster in the halfwhich! If you're extra hungry they offer a foot long but for me, personally, the portion I got was enough along with the chowder. I don't come here often because it's a tad bit out of the way for me but I was also recommended to try the fried haddock from someone who really knows his seafood. I'll have to try it next time! We have been going to the Great Catch for nearly two years. They recently moved to a new location on US41. We would usually get different waitresses until we had Tiffany wait on us. What an impressive waitress she is! After yhat first experience with Tiffany always request her. She always knows what I drink and what I usually eat. One time we had to wait for a table and sat at a high top ... out comes Tiffany with my and my husband's drinks. She is like a little energizer bunny, rushing around to her customers' tables. Without any doubt she is the best waitress I have ever had anywhere! I always get the salmon and the fries are delicious ... I get the sweet potato fries. My husband either gets the chicken sandwich or philly cheese steak and regular fries. Best fries I have had since coming to this country from Great Britain. Also, they have a mini Gordon Ramsey there ... that is what I call him ... his name is Daniel ... very impressive. The prices for wine is also very impressive ... $6.50 for a glass of wine. The food is good old fashioned New England lobster, scallops, clams ( belly), PLUS almost anything else you care to eat! No kidding- pasta, steak, etc. If you know good fried clams, this is the place for you! Well, they do have regular clam strips for the uninitiated, those who know a good New England whole belly clam will really appreciate this restaurant. But there's so much more. The best coleslaw, baked beans, and too many other sides to mention, along with onion strings, and french fries! The accommodations resemble an old diner style restaurant in need of an update. But I accept the old rather than the new in order to keep costs from rising even more! Now, good food done well is not cheap, so consider this a big splurge. I'd recommend sit down and not take as it took 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food and 10 minutes for someone to approach me waiting at the front with 4-5 people actively on the floor.
