This small sushi spot tucked away on 1st Street was the perfect place for my friends and I after a day outside. There weren't a lot of seats inside, but we managed to get a spot without any lineup, and enjoyed the cozy local feel of the restaurant. The food was excellent - we ordered a number of different items and shared them. I don't know if any particular item stood out over the others, but I enjoyed all of them!

I am a big fan of their aburi platter and will recommend it to anyone. Food came out on a robot which was an interesting sight, and added to the experience.

The food here just hits! I love their specialty rolls and aburi. While I used to think Green Leaf couldn't compare to the aburi from Miku, there is a certain appeal of affordable, yet delicious sushi that I can't quite pinpoint, but somehow makes the food taste even better! The only thing I wished is that the North Van location could also serve cooked food options as this location primarily only serves sushi. *Must try* Aburi Platter (5/5) - $75 Taste: Such great variety that you get in this platter - you get flame torched aburi ebi, salmon, tuna, saba, scallop sushi as well as an aburi tobiko roll. The tobiko roll is by far my favourite - I love how the fish roe adds flavour and pops in your mouth! Portion Size: Shareable for a group of 4 *Must try* House Roll (5/5) - $18 Taste: I HAVE to get this roll every time. As someone who doesn't enjoy too much saucy foods, the house roll provides a clean contrast to the richness of the aburi sushi. Packed with fresh ingredients and seafood, this roll is filling and delicious with good umami flavours. Portion Size: 6 large pieces [Value for Money] Amazing value for the quality and freshness of the food served here! Care and effort is put into curating the sushi and that doesn't go unnoticed.

Tldr: very good sushi! 10/10 recommend! Came in on a Saturday night, was surprised to see it just being a take out place, they only had a few seats to actually sit down to eat. The place was small and cozy. The servers were friendly and took our order right away. Each platter was big enough to feed 2-3 people. I only got to eat the aburi platter and the ones that stood out was the scallop, ebi and yukke tuna! Very unique flavours, different from the other aburi places in vancouver. Price wise it's not all that bad if you had it to share with 2 other people. It was just me and my partner having the aburi platter and we couldn't finish!

I can't even remember when I first started dining at green leaf sushi in point grey, so I was glad to see they opened up a location here in North Vancouver. This location however is not a full service restaurant, and they only offer aburi oshi sushi. Every "roll" was between $13-20. We picked the Basil ebi prawn, aburi tobiko roll, yukke tuna, and spicy tuna. Out of the 4 rolls, we liked the basil ebi the most, followed by the tobiko roll, then yukke tuna and finally spicy tuna. The basil prawn had a really nice kick of basil but worked really well with the torched mayonnaise sauce. The tobiko roll was half torched so you got two different textures of tobiko. Seating inside was limited but we got our food quickly as it wasn't very busy. The decor was very nice, with a very industrial chic look. As it's self served, you choose the rolls you want, pay at the cashier and then your food is served to you. You also have to get your own napkins, utensils and soy sauce. All the chefs in there were quite friendly though, and they offered everyone kimchi salad at the end. I think they should put that on the menu because it was delicious. Very happy to see they expanded their operation over the bridge, would like to see more menu selection in the future though.

We decided to visit the newly opened Green Leaf Aburi sushi place that just opened on Lower Lonsdale and 1st. We ordered the Aburi Tobiko Roll, Atlantic Salmon Oshi, and the Spicy Tuna Oshi. The tobiko roll was my favorite as it had a great texture with the tobiko on top. I found the salmon oshi to have a bit too much mayo on it and the spicy tuna was not spicy, as expected. However, we had an incredible experience and the price was quite reasonable given it's location. I can't wait to return and try the rest of the menu!

The attention to detail create memorable ambiance!

Food is 5 star - BUT - take out can take hours (not exaggerating). Done in is ok...tight squeeze. Not licensed. Great food.

What can I possibly say that can give this place justifiably a higher score than 1?…read more Hmmmm.....let's see... I'm sorry, I can't. Here it goes..... Let's get the worst out of the way. The Miso Soup not only had a terrible smell but an odd unnatural aftertaste. Gross! Comes to mind. Salmon Avocado: Proportionality of ingredient ratios was completely off and amateur. ( See pic.) The sticky rice was also overcooked. Yes, you can overcook sticky rice. Dynamite Roll: I don't know what to say....it didn't look or taste like a Dynamite Roll. Tasteless, stingy and proper Dynamite Roll ingredients missing ( see pic.) Avocado Roll: Well....it was avocado rolled in overcooked rice. Moving on.... They got the most basic Sushi menu items wrong. So truly even the 1 Star is for the polite lady that took my order over the phone. She was nice and professional. And I could understand what she was saying. So, that's good.
