I cannot recommend "the Green Plumber" as he did not find and fix the issue I initially called him for. I had to call another to do the job. His prices are extremely high for what he did do; $300 to snake a line is 3 times that I paid for others. I called "the Green Plumber" to find a leak in the sprinkler line on the front lawn (he was unable to do so). He proceeded to find another issue with my main line that I was fully aware of as I had been through this before. The previous remedy (to snake the line) was less than a third of his PRICE! In the 4 hours he was here, he made numerous phone calls besides talking to another plumber that stopped by in front of my home. He managed to snake the line and take a video. I paid him $435 just to get him to leave! Now he asks $375 more for his video? The sprinklers were off a week only to find the flooding remained. The line was indeed leaking and needed repair so I sought after another. In my opinion, the green plumber is appropriately named as he is very "green" at his job. read more

1) The previous plumber was out of down and performed the same measures that you performed to clear the drain - at half the price. 2) "The large pull-out drawer is not easily removed, so all work was performed with the drawer open all the way" It's a basic Ikea door. Pull out and pull up. Not rocket science. 3) Here's a suggestion: If a customer wants you do to something (basic) and you're not sure how to do it, pick up the phone and call them. If you did (maybe during the "15 minutes" it took you to walk to your van to find an O-ring) I would have suggested the bare wood around the hole for the sink drain as a contact point (if all you carried in your van is silicone) or, alternatively, using Lexel clear or construction adhesive. Interesting how quick you were to throw your hands up at that part of the job but had to diligence to try to upsell me on major plumbing work (opening up the wall to elevate the sanitary tee) or charge me $5 for a .30 cent O-ring that takes 5 seconds to replace. read more

Timothy is a great guy, and very honest. I was a little unsure about how reliable he was at answering calls, but that has changed. I used The Green Plumber when I first moved into my condo 10 years ago to replace a 20-year old water heater. Now 10 years later, my water heater was acting up. The pilot light would not stay on. Timothy looked at my water heater and told me what I needed to do to repair it if I wanted to save the cost of having him do it. I didn't trust myself and had him do it and quoted me a price up front to replace the parts. While he was replacing it on Friday, something broke. The only way to get me back up and running was to replace my 10-year old burner or replace the whole water heater at a steeper price. Timothy called around many different vendors and was able to locate and get me a new burner by Monday. As luck would have it, we were 45 minutes from departing to LAX for vacation at 6am and the kitchen and bathroom sinks started backing up. Panic! Immediately we thot there is no way we are gonna get a plumber here in less than 45 minutes to fix this mess. A couple days after my appointment, Timothy called to follow up on my appointment. I rehashed my mistake of our unit being a sealed unit and what the technician reported. Timothy clarified they would never fault the customer for giving incorrect information since it is not our forte. He clarified the charge of $89 was for diagnostic purposes (when they actually run the leads on your unit to trouble shoot the issue). When he reported this, I told him that was not done by the technician during his visit due to the fact that the outside unit was working and rain was trickling down my lattice; on and around the unit (safety hazard). No leads were attached whatsoever. He simply tightened my unit. After hearing about this, Timothy stated I would only be charged $39 (the actual service charge). I am very thankful Timothy cleared things up regarding but it makes me wonder why I was told by the technician said the $89 was the service charge. Besides clarifying the charge amount, he also gave me pointers as to how to test my unit to get a better idea of what may be causing the problem. He was very thorough with the follow up and invited my father to call him personally to see how he can help. I give Timothy's service five stars but one star docked due to the initial discrepancy in pricing by the technician. read more

If you're like most people, you probably like waking to a gentle rain falling just outside your bedroom window. However, it's an entirely different story when you realize the "falling rain sound" is actually coming from inside the walls of your house! Yep, it finally happened - one of the 50+ year old galvanized pipes finally gave up the ghost and broke - perfectly timed - just a few days before Christmas! What followed were puddles on the floor and soggy carpet - along with the urgent need of an honest and skilled plumber. Fortunately, I knew just the guy to call...and that would be Timothy, The Green Plumber. Since he'd come out 3 years earlier to skillfully fix a pinhole leak in an attic pipe (and warned more such holes would soon follow), I knew he was the guy I wanted for the job, and I knew what his diagnosis would be...That's right, the dreaded and inevitable "Repipe." We're talking no small inconvenience here. Unfortunately, he told me he was sorry, but that he was booked solid through the first week of the New Year, and that I'd have to wait if I wanted him to handle the job - but I decided he was worth waiting for, so reluctantly decided we'd put up with no running water on one side of the house for the next three weeks. However, before the Plumber could do his work, an Abatement company was required to test for lead in the paint and asbestos in the popcorn ceiling (yes, it's an 1960s era house), and attic insulation. Fortunately, test results came back negative for all, saving an extra 4 days that would have been needed to properly deal with hazardous materials. Then after several days of large and noisy fans to dry out the water damaged walls and floor, it was just a matter of waiting for Timothy to show up. D-Day... Timothy and his crew of 3-4 showed up early in January, and began the job. First they laid down protective construction paper in all the areas they'd be working in, then began opening up the walls to remove and replace the old, rusty pipes. So out goes the old, and in comes the star of the show - the new and shiny Copper pipes. After the pipes were in place, it was time for the holes in the walls and in the ceiling (the crew made two on both ends of the house to expedite the repipe), to be repaired, along with several major holes made in the outside stucco walls. Pipes in, holes repaired - and a new gratitude for the luxury of indoor plumbing. Timothy and his gang had skillfully completed the job, and throughout the project, maintained a polite and professional attitude. (The only minor negative I'd offer is that the job took some 17 days to complete, instead of the 4-5 originally mentioned. But, this understandable, considering the work took place when we were having an unlikely deluge of rainfall every other day in January. So really no points off for this, just added to the length of the ordeal. I knew other companies might rush through the job, but I trusted Timothy would take the necessary time needed to do things right). So yeah, it was noisy, cold, and dirty (did I mention NOISY!), but now whenever I hear the sound of "falling rain" - I can be sure it's just that - and rollover and go back to sleep. So a word of wisdom if you're aware your pipes have seen better days: Be preemptive and replace them before a small geyser in your attic forces a world of inconvenient water woes upon you and your family. Tony came to my home as scheduled. He evaluated the problem and briefly described the work involved and gave an estimate before doing any work. I agreed and he performed the work as stated. Had a leaking water heater that resulting in no hot water for 3 days. Spoke with owner Timothy who promised his worker in 2 hours. Owner thought would need new water heater. When I told him what the "symptoms" were, he agreed that just need to replace a valve. Meanwhile realizing the simplicity of it, I asked a friend to take a look at it who seemed to figure it out. I started to call to cancel, but Timothy called saying his worker, Tony was already here. My friend told Tony what he discovered. Tony, had the part he was told to bring, but said I don't want to try and get you to pay for something you don't need. He actually pointed out the real problem, simply changing the $13 pipe that came out of the wall. Since it looked like it was something my friend could do, that's what he suggested, saving me over a $100. I apologized to Tony and he said, that's ok, this was my last job of the day. Yes, the gas my husband and I had been smelling in the back yard was, in fact, leaking from the gas line under the ground. The Gas Company Service Technician confirmed it, shut off my gas, and told me to call a plumber. "Why did you have to turn off my gas?" I asked. "So you don't blow up the whole neighborhood on the Fourth of July," the gas man said. Timothy the Green Plumber broke the news to us gently: he would have to put in a new gas line. He would have to dig a 16" deep trench through my back yard, from the alley fence to the house. My backyard is a secret garden with a waterfall and butterfly shrubs. I work out there on a patio table: it's my home office. The thought of anyone touching even the dirt in my garden frightened me more than the idea of exploding. "Don't worry! Don't worry!" For my birthday, my father gave me a beautiful ruby ring. While showering, I took it off and set it up on the top shower door bar and promptly forgot about it (BIG MISTAKE). I realized a couple of days later that I hadn't seen it since then and checked, and of course it was gone. After a thorough searching of the house and interrogation of my boyfriend and our roommate, who said that she heard something fall while taking a shower, I had no choice but to come to the conclusion that it went down the drain. I am heartbroken, but not ready to give up. After searching for a plumber on Yelp, I decided on Tim at the Green Plumber. I told him of my plight and not only was he very understanding but he said that he would come over within an hour. Talk about a great first impression! When he arrived, he put booties on so that he didn't muddy anything up and began snaking the pipe with a video camera thingy-bob (I'm sure that's the technical term). We didn't have any luck with that, so he offered to go under the house to see if he could access the trap. This poor guy had to crawl under my house in the mud and bugs to check this. I don't know how he does it! Unfortunately it's not an easy fix. We're going to have to cut and replace the pipes in order to find it, so I had to tell him that I would call him back after talking to my landlord. Thankfully, he's willing to do it for us for VERY cheap so I think we'll be able to do it. He didn't even charge me at the end of the day! My problem this time was relatively minor, my dishwasher wasn't draining properly and an old water filtration system was leaking just a little.
