Great spot! It's been years since I have been. Always a good business lunch spot. It's hidden away on the Calvary chapel off of Cypress creek. It's non profit so no sales tax! We popped in here for lunch after my daughter's preview day for school. There was a little wait for us walking in. It was my first time at the restaurant despite my daughter attending school here for a few years already. I was impressed, nice decor and Christian music playing while we ate. I had a tuna melt with fries, my hubby and daughter got burgers. We had zucchini fries for our appetizer and the dipping sauce was great. lots of people there had pizza. Very disappointed with my experience today. I come in every Wednesday with coworkers of mine. We order online, because or lunch is only 30 minutes, and sit at a table while we eat our food. I order a drink while we're dining in and I've never tipped less than $5 for the drink I order. Decided to go on a Sunday for the first time, luckily we arrived before the service ended. Therefore it was not busy at all. The waitress was very sweet. The service took a little long, and it's was not busy, but we enjoyed watching the live service on the tv's around the dinning area. Food was good and fairly quick. My husband ordered chicken and waffles and I ordered a strawberry, goat and chicken salad, (we were hungry and forgot to take pictures). It was very tasteful. We both had brunch for $35! Can be a little difficult finding it the first time as it is located on a large church property but it was worth the journey. Food was reasonably priced and portioned. Also our server told us that it's all fresh never frozen. We got the homemade bread pudding to finish off the meal and it was easily the highlight. I attended Calvary Chapel (church where the restaurant is located) for years. We occasionally would go to this restaurant either before or after service. Food was ok- it's a really Small menu. Staff is nice. They have redone the inside since I first went until the most recent time and it's nice. It's also very packed. It's not a place I would look to go to unless I had attended the church or school. read more

This restaurant is located inside the Calvary Chapel Ft. Lauderdale church campus. It's not just for church-goers. Anyone can dine here so give it a shot! I usually end up here after attending service on Sundays, often out of convenience, but also because it's just great. 3 things I pay attention to when I go to a restaurant: ambiance, food, service. The ambiance is homely and comfortable. It is the opposite of pretentious, and a great place for group dining, as it's not deafeningly loud; you can actually hear the people you are eating with and not have to scream at one another across the table. It's not super chic, by any means, but definitely clean and kept well, no complaints. Next, the most important thing: food is always GREAT-- nothing I've ever ordered here has been bad. It's also CLEAN. If something isn't right, they will make it right, though I haven't experienced anything terrible to date so I can't comment on a previous experience they got wrong. I've tried numerous items, including the buffalo cauliflower bites (yum and crunchy!), the skirt steak salad (sweet/savory dressing), the bang bang shrimp (deliciously crunchy with a yummy complementary slaw), brisket tostada (brunch item), the steakhouse burger (solid tasty burger), and the pasta (I forgot what was in it, but I remember I ate the whole thing so it was good, I'm sure). I was there for lunch earlier today and ordered the Chimichurri Chicken, which was VERY tasty, but the coloring inside was a bit pink and I am pregnant and hyper-paranoid so I asked them to cook it further, and they obliged with a smile on their face. My server didn't make me feel crazy or demanding and I happily enjoyed my extra cooked chicken (it wasn't dry and tasted great even after they cooked it further!). Which takes me to the 3rd facet: service. The service is EXCELLENT. The moment you walk in, you are promptly greeted by SMILING, HAPPY faces that are genuinely glad to be there. One of the host(esse)s walk you to your table, making polite conversation, and just like that, your meal is already off to a great start. Then your server comes, and the excellent service continues for the rest of your meal, down to the very end. The last 3 times I've dined at the grill, Avonlea has been our server and she is always great. Friendly, smiling, polite, and honest when asked her opinion, she provides non-invasive but attentive service and is always a delight. Obviously from all that I've said above, you can see that I highly recommend and often frequent this establishment. Give it a shot! read more

The Grill is a place I literally had no idea existed until a week or so ago. I would drive by the Calvary Chapel, not knowing that an amazing restaurant was hidden in the church's campus. So I had a lunch meeting here (that's why there are no photos). It's nestled in the middle of this huge church campus. It's got tons of seating, again it's huge. They have conference rooms for private dining for meetings ( like I experienced) or a large dining area. It's darkly colored- thing dark woods with red color palette. By the entrance they have a little coffee shop which is also good. The service- The service was amazing. The waiter was so friendly. Constantly making sure everything was ok with our order. Our drinks were always full and he made sure to offer coffee and/or dessert at the end of our meal. The food- Ah-mazing. First I ordered a cup of tortilla soup (the soup of the day). It had a nice kick to it and tons of tortilla strips on top. I was a big fan. My meal was the chicken panini with fries. The chicken was good, the mozzarella cheese was amazing. The bread was a little dry and found myself constantly added ketchup (weird I know) because it was just a little too dry, but still not bad. The fries- oh yeah, the fries were great. A big portion of fries that were cooked perfectly. Looking around at everyone else's meal I could tell not only did it look delicious, it must have been delicious because everyone devoured their meals. What I loved is that I was full, but not stuffed. I liked my meal but didn't feel like I was going to burst. The portion size was just right. Give this place a try. It may take a few minutes to find it because again, the campus is huge, but once you actually find it you'll be pretty happy you did. read more

This place is part of The Calvary Chapel community, and is a big place with a lot to like. Mel, our server, was wonderful and very helpful. He had a great personality. The menu had comfort food along with entrees. Two of us had their burgers- the steakhouse and the bacon cheeseburger. Both were big , hearty and delicious. One person had the quesadilla brisket which was a good portion size. Another had the Barbacoa brisquit tacos which were slightly spicy but delicious. 2soups and a side Caesar started the meal . Good food, good service and very pleasant atmosphere. The one thing that is very strange about this place, and has already been mentioned in a few other reviews, is its location. This restaurant is right inside the Calvary Church and School complex, and is actually not easy to find since parking is not in front of the restaurant. However, once you make it to the restaurant and walk through the sliding glass doors, you walk into a very nicely decorated dining area, with a combination of tables and booths. Food selection is not very large, but offers good variety. Both dishes I tried were very well prepared. The honey brussels sprouts were perfectly roasted and had a slight touch of wasabi taste, and for my entrée I tried the Fish of the day: Mahi Mahi sautéed and served on a bed of brown rice with grilled asparagus. They also had a seared tuna dish on their menu which I will try on my next visit. Definitely a place to recommend. read more
