Maybe 3 times they got it right and it was great. Most of my meat was well done. My favorite dish is Picanha, and it was so well done it barely had flavor. The sirloin wrapped in bacon was good but again, steak well done. 2) uninterested gauchos. 2 seemed nice, but there was one in particular, a bald gaucho, who really stood out. He skipped us more than once, then went all the way around the room then stood with his back to us. We tried to get his attention he turns and goes "I see you. I never write reviews but the experience sucked so bad I feel inclined. It was our first time in and the systems of the buffet and Rodizio were a bit confusing. Our server rushed through her script and became visibly annoyed and rude when I asked clarifying questions on how it worked. Her response: "yeah, I just said that...". From there, they serve freezer food quality appetizers which are complimentary and a mild range of salad bar choice options. The actual Rodizio was okay. Some good meat cuts and liked the variety. It's been several years since I've visit this place but food is still pretty good. Took my brother here for his birthday last weekend and we had a good time. Salad bar had a great selection of things plus sides of rice and soup. The day we went they were also offering SRW for $50 but you get like 7 or 14 types of meat vs the 17? I kind of didnt' catch the exact number but that's a pretty great deal for the amount of food you're getting but we just did the rodízio. I really enjoyed the different cuts of meat. There were some that was a bit dry and overly salty but I guess that's why you should have it with a bit of rice or mash. I would not recommend the frijole soup though, it was soo salty the day we were there. I took 2 bites and could not finish the bowl. I'm hoping it was an off day for soup haha. I really liked this place! I enjoyed the experience. I feel like it's a less upscale version of fogo, but the vibe has its own charm. Since they frequently offer Groupon deals, I think this wins out. If I had to pay full price I'd just go to fogo since they have this awesome rice and meat + salmon in the salad bar. I would note the meat is basically lightly (or kinda heavily) salted. I love that with some rice though, there's not much variety in seasoning I feel. I'm not one that constantly eats extremely high end meats so for me, this was absolutely great and eat cut was juicy and tender. My sister's bf is big on good cuts of meat so I think I wouldn't take a meat expert but maybe for the average Joe this would do wonderfully haha All the servers here were so friendly!! They'd carve me specific meat cuts with a big smile all the time. I feel they came around frequently enough too. You have to wait a bit when requesting specific meats but overall no complaints. I love rodizio style Brazilian BBQ and GFI delivers. We arrived for our 6pm reservation and the fires are licking the spinning spits of meat as we walk by the grill to our table. Bags and bags of wood charcoal are lined up to go in the pit. The entire back row of tables are lined up against the west facing windows and the Pacific sunset lights up the dining room like it is on fire, which is as good look for a BrazBBQ. Our server invites us to start at the salad bar, which offers a lot of cold choices and a few hots as well, but I don't want to load up my plate in anticipation of what's to come. The creamed chicken over rice is different and is pretty tasty though. After flipping over what I call the Meat Disk to green, the parade of proteins begins, as servers with steel spits and 12" carving knives come to our table. A tall skewer of Peppered Steak was the first to show up and since it was first, we each got big slices. Then it was like clockwork as every few minutes a different cut of beef, pork, lamb, poultry and even seafood showed up tableside. We couldn't refuse at least a small taste of each just to say we tried them. The restaurant's website promised 14 different cuts of meat, but upon review, it turned out to be at least 16 types that we tried and I think we might have missed 1 or 2. Here goes: Peppered Steak Portuguese Sausage Bacon Wrapped Turkey Chicken Drumsticks Bacon Wrapped Steak Cheese Steak Flank Steak Pork Rib Leg of Lamb Ribeye Tri-Tip Top Sirloin Beef Rib Parmesan Pork Loin Grilled Shrimp Cinnamon Grilled Pineapple GFI offered a couple of different cuts that I've never seen at other BrazBBQ's. The Cheese Steak is unique, which is a shell steak with cheese injected into it before grilling, so that it oozes out when it's cut at your table. The Parmesan Pork Loin was coated with parmesan cheese and kissed by the heat just enough to crust it and made it delicious. Finally, the whole Grilled Pineapple was genius. The heat caramelized the pineapple and it is coated in cinnamon for that spicy/sugary taste. Some ham would have gone great with it. After all that, we had to flip the meat disk over to red because a meat coma was surely on its way with dreams of the beaches of Ipanema. Can't wait to do this again! read more

We got a Groupon for this place and thought it was ok. My par is fogo de Chao in Bellevue so it was set pretty high. There was about 9 different meats, some was good, some could have been better. The sausage was good, the beef ribs was kinda dry, the bacon wrapped thingy was chewy. The grilled pineapple was pretty good but nothing really special though. The salad bar was ok as well. I like the mashed potatoes and this creamy chicken and the chicken salad. The not so hot item was the vanilla cake which should been called corn bread. The banana bread was basically a vanilla cake with really tough bananas in it. Their cheese ball and banana thing was kinda pathetic to me. Didn't really have any substance of any sort. Service was pretty good. Very attentive. I also like that the meat came out at a reasonable amount of time so it wasn't overwhelming. This place automatically charges a 20% gratuity regardless of your party size! When I asked about it, they said it shows on their menu. I pulled up the online menu and it shows 18% gratuity added for parties of 6 or larger and showed it to the server. I asked to speak to the manager and was told to wait. The manager never came to us he was too busy fooling around with the computer or whatever it was he was doing on the register. We got tired of waiting we were thinking of just walking out and not paying this almost $300. Bill for a party of 3. But we're just not that kind of people.. paid the damn bill and just left. Food and service has gone downhill over the last few years. Every piece of meat we had last night was over cooked, even when we asked for more rare pieces. We both had stomach issues after eating here too. Some of the meats tasted good and the salad/cold bar was good, it wasn't all bad, but most of them were just far too tough or overcooked. Our service was very poor-- took forever to get any meat, cuts were all bad, and my partner did not get her wine for more than 20 minutes into the meal (the waiter had just forgotten it). They never asked if we were looking for any specific meats (they weren't even very busy), and it really felt like they only ever had the cheaper cuts readily available. They also auto-gratuity 20% here, even for parties of two, which I would not really mind, except they included the price of the drinks into what they took 20% of. That is not common practice anywhere, and just feels cheap and slimy. Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone. The variety is not worth the lack of quality and the poor service. It used to be great, but like so many other places has inched its price up and quality down to the point of making it a bad experience. read more

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I consider myself to be a very patient person, but no amount of meditation could raise my serotonin levels enough to prevent me from writing this review. I don't usually make a big fuss about service as I work in the industry myself and am very understanding of reasonable delays or forgetfulness. I truly get it. But I couldn't quite figure out how this place could operate so poorly. Prior to dining: The only positive about the experience is that we were easily able to snag a same-day reservation for two at 6:30pm on a Saturday. We get there at 6:25pm and they seat us immediately. Wonderful. We came for the Rodizio aware of what meats are provided there, so we didn't have to look at the menu much, but luckily I noticed the fine print before putting it aside. 20% auto gratuity for all parties, which mind you is NOT stated on their website. It states only that there will be an 18% auto grat for parties of 6+, that of which is quite standard. I decide to overlook that detail since we were celebrating an anniversary and had anticipated a pricier date than our usual endeavors and I figured it would make sense for the experience this type of restaurant *typically* provides. Dining experience: We get going with our drinks about 15 minutes after being seated and head to the salad bar which is sub par. Not a whole lot to offer there, but the beef stroganoff was actually nice, creamy and tender and honestly saved me from starvation because we didn't even get the first round of meat until 25 minutes after being seated. It was sausage, which I declined because I wanted to save room for the better cuts of meat such as the Picanha. We didn't see the Picanha until an hour through. The entire first hour was only chicken drumsticks, sausage, and roasted pineapple. We were in a back corner of the restaurant so I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, but we saw servers bringing cuts of meat to other tables nearby that we never received the entire 2.5 hours we were there. There was a large party seated by us and even they seemed to miss out on a lot of the cuts. Out of the 16 entrees that the menu claimed as part of the Rodizio, we were brought 9. Zero ribs which was very disappointing for me as ribs are one of my favorite foods. 9/16 entrees... where was the other half?? 6 of which were only brought to us because my bf got up to tell them we had been waiting for more food to come around. Out of 2.5 hours we had 7 bites of meat, some shrimp, and a slice of pineapple brought over to us. The Picanha and the chicken drumsticks were the only two meats we had that weren't dry or overcooked. Post dinner: I was hoping they would have at least comped the auto grat since we had to ask for food to be brought to our table 2 hours in, but they did not comp any of it. I wish I had asked that before I used the restroom and my bf silently paid the entire $200 check. I called the restaurant both that night and the next day during business hours. No one picked up the phone, so I left a voice message AND an email hoping to speak with a manager which is unlike me, but we didn't even have $50 worth of food on our plates altogether, so I feel like they robbed him. I haven't gotten a response at all. Do yourself a favor and try another Brazilian steakhouse like Fogo de Chão. read more

They have delicious meats but what I loved most about this place is their friend plantains with a cinnamon sugar and also the grilled pineapple. Sooo good. We have been to other Brazilian BBQ restaurants before and this was our first time here. Everything was going good with the quality of food, pace of meats coming by our table, and decent selection of side dishes at the self serve area. Although our biggest issue was when I found a small blue piece of rubber band in my chimichurri sauce. I then inspected my wife's chimichurri sauce and also found a piece of rubber band inside it. So I had to assume there is more pieces in the chimichurri sauce that everyone is getting servings from. After I notified our server of our unexpected gift, he said sorry and that he'll let someone in the back know. That was it. He didn't come back to our table to refill our water or let us know how the conversation went. So we called him over and asked if he talked to anyone and he said, "ya, I told them" and then just looked at me. Apparently that was all they were going to do and this is how they handle their mishaps. I am warning everyone else who goes here to inspect your food very closely because apparently a sorry is just good enough to them while you ingest things that shouldn't be ingested. When you are paying this much money per person, I expect the quality & customer service to be that much higher also. read more

I have a huge weakness for the cheesy meats: Parmesan Pork & Cheese Steak. On top of the wonderful meats offered, the salad bar has a wonderful selection of sides dishes, salads, meats and cheeses, and condiments including chimichurri and hot sauce. There is also a soup that changes seasonally. Along with the outstanding food, the view from the windows is absolutely beautiful. The staff and their manager, Alberto, all strive to take care of you to ensure you're getting the most out of your visit. Came here for dinner on Sunday (4pm) with a group of 4. I've wanted to try this place out for a while but never made the effort because I don't eat that much meat. We were able to make a reservation online and walked in. The staff was very friendly and there was a decent amount of rodizio options (17 types of grilled items that come out). I honestly don't remember much of the meat but they were all cooked well and I appreciated the variety (didn't try a couple e.g. the chicken/ribs etc. though). The biggest disappointment of the night was that I did not want the full rodizio option and wanted to opt for the salad bar only. Of course, with COVID, the dining experience has changed at a place like this. They bring out the usual options from the salad bar to your table after the meat options start coming out. However, when I asked to only receive salad bar items they told me that the price for the salad bar only was the same price as the full rodizio option ($55 before tax/tip). I was a bit taken aback because they didn't mention this new policy anywhere on their website... (Maybe I missed it?) $55 for just the items that ended up coming out for the salad bar was not worth it in my opinion. I did end up partaking in the full rodizio option since I was going to pay the same amount anyways... There were about 10-14 items that came out for the salad bar (a few fried items, a couple of different "salad" options, beans, rice, mashed potatoes, etc.) and half of the options were not that great. The premixed Caesar salad had way too much dressing making it pretty salty, the chicken salad, and Asian inspired chicken something was a miss. The cheese bread, mashed potatoes, and the quinoa salad were the favorites of the group. I heard many great things about Brazilian Rodizio so we were pretty psyched to visit Ipanema. For a fixed pre-tax price of $35 for lunch and $55 for dinner, you get to enjoy unlimited salad bar and sizzling hot meat cuts! You'll be given a chip with different color on each side (red and green). If the green side is facing up, it'll signal the gaucho to offer the different meats to your table. Simply flip it over to the red side if you need a break or when you're done. Salad bar offerings are pretty extensive. They have soup, rice, risotto, salad, grilled veggies, cold cut meat, and among other things. They will also give you fried cheese ball and fried banana which are readily available upon request (the latter is very tasty!) As for the meat cuts, both my dining companion and I agreed that most of them were either heavily salted or underseasoned. My favorites were the house cut, peppered steak, garlic shrimp, and chicken drumstick. I didn't enjoy the rest. On a side note, the service was really attentive and friendly! Overall, I don't think the taste of the food justified the cost. Always fun to go to the Grill from Ipanema! As far as Brazilian bbqs this place is pretty standard. It has a nice variety of meats, and a expansive salad bar. The picahna is always my favorite, and they do it nicely here. I do wish that their meats would more consistently have parts that are different degrees of doneness. I've had some cuts vary from dry to very rare, and when going with a larger group, different people usually do have different preferences. When they get it right, it's great though. The negative is that if you have any vegetarian in your group, they will pay a discounted bring to access only the salad bar. However, if they have any interest in the single grilled item (e.g., the grilled pineapple), then they will have to pay the full meat price. The service was great but the meats were frequently brought out undercooked, to the extent that you could hear the freakin' cow moo as they cut off a piece onto your plate - or if you complained, they would rectify this by subjecting the meat to be overcooked, and you would subsequently think you were eating some dried beef jerky type 'meat.' I have been here many times and it never fails to be awesome. Every time, I make a reservation and I am always quickly seated. The hosts that work up front are very kind and work quickly to get you seated. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and a beautiful fire pit that greets you. It is clean and they have a relaxed/casual atmosphere. The food is delicious. they have a variety of steaks, Turkey parmesan, pork, and delicious grilled pineapples as well! The salad bar is open and has cheese, meat pieces, salads, mashed potatoes and more. The mashed potatoes are delicious! The meat is cooked and fresh when it's brought out and it's a carousel of meats that keep coming. You have a disk that is green on one side, and red on the other that is placed on your table. If you have the green side up, they will stop at your table. If you have red side up, they will not. The dessert is to die for as well. They have many different options to choose from including cheesecake, lava cake with ice cream (my favorite) and more. They have great wines as well and a soda collection. The venue is mostly used for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. but we go there just to go and eat from time to time. It is pricey ranging at about $55 a person, fyi. Great experience. We booked a whole Seattle trip from Alaska just to come here specifically and I'm glad we did. Was in town about a month ago with the kids and wanted to come back without the kids to come to places like this, although we probably could've just taken them anyway. Super friendly staff, quick to get food (ginormous salad bar) and the guys bringing out the meat are quick to come if your card is green. If you haven't been before, you get a card that you put red facing up if you need a break and green if you want them to come around and offer all sorts of meats. When we came they had 18 different meats. My favorite was the Parmesan pork, I kept waiting for them to come back around with it and when they did I just took a huge portion. What surprised me was how good the salad bar was. Pickled this, marinated that- almost anything you could want. My favorite was the marinated potatoes and the caramelized apples. We shared a half gallon (or liter?) of sangria too and it was very good. They have a cart of desserts to show you (make it easier to pick) and although I can't remember what it was called, what we picked was perfect to share. When we come back we're going to bring a huge group of people with us, this seems like a great place for groups. read more

I am a bit conflicted on this review. First, the meats were mostly well-cooked. However, my experience matches most of these recent reviews, in the sense that the service sucks. On a Sunday night, there was only one person serving the 8 occupied tables, and if he started on the opposite side, we wouldn't get food for several minutes. When we complained about the lack of steak servers, the waiter said 'I really don't know what you want me to do'. Eventually, a 2nd server came, but it still wasn't fast enough to keep up with the added tables. Ultimately, the yes/no sticker on the table was worthless, and it's not a true churrascaria experience. I know they're not a chain like Fogo, but my favorite Bay Area churrascaria (Espetus) can maintain the same experience as a small business. Not only that, they have opened a 2nd restaurant and replicated the same experience. At the end, the person who came to handle the check payment gave us attitude when we asked to split it, and put the drinks on mine. So basically the following issues with this restaurant: 1)Needs more servers (other non-chains can figure it out, it's pathetic that this one can't) 2)They can't split certain items on checks when virtually every other restaurant can. 3)The waiter was also mean and incompetent when we raised criticisms on the lack of servers 4)It's not a true churrascaria. If the owner is Brazilian, he is also a disgrace to his country for not replicating an experience that Espetus and countless other small business churrascarias can throughout the United States. 5)some of the meat was well cooked, but the rude waiter and the guy who took our check detracted. I had barely eaten all day, so I made a beeline from the airport to Grill from Ipanema as soon as my plane landed. It was the best choice I've made in a long time. The salad bar is full of delicious sides. I would skip the mashed potatoes & get the grilled vegetables or the chilled green beans. But the most successful side is the thinly sliced cucumber sunomono salad. It has just the right amount of vinegar and is an excellent foil to all the grilled meat you're about to have. The pacing of the meats was fairly non stop, but a few things really stood out. I didn't particularly enjoy the parmesan pork, nor the garlic shrimp. However, the pork ribs and rib eye were definitely stand outs for me, and the servers just kept coming with the food. How the f*ck does this place have 4 stars? I've seen positive reviews online and social media and don't understand why. Ambiance; online photos make this place look far nicer, in real life, it's crowded and feels like an Apple Bees. The price does not justify how run down this place feels. Service; absolute shit, showed up 5 minutes early to reservation and they didn't help seat us for another 20 minutes (wait staff didn't come grab us while waiting either). Ordered 2 drinks for the table and took 15-20 minutes to get the drink (place wasn't even that crowded), not to mention the drinks were terrible. Only bonus point I'll give them is that they keep the meat rotation coming very frequently, however you may want to pass that after seeing next section. One of the older ladies doing the meat rotation was very sweet and friendly and made sure she brought something we would want to try. The rest of them just seemed so rushed and uninviting. Adding 20% gratuity on this horrible service is absolutely egregious and criminal. The rotation + 2 drinks came out to over $200. Meat/Salad bar; the most reliable tasting food was the mashed potatos and salads. It was honestly pretty tasty. The shrimp in some of the salad bar dishes tasted like rubber. The meat was some of the worst I've had, and it is likely USDA select or choice grade. A handful of shavings I got were 100% fat cap, and nearly all of the meats were cooked medium well to well done, even after asking for medium rare. Tough to chew and lacking flavor, don't even get me started on the salmon , it looked and tasted like cardboard. All in all, the food sucked. The food AMAZING! Never had or been to a Brazilian steakhouse before but this food was IMPECCABLE! The salad bar was tons of fun to walk through and try different salads. The cuts of meat are just the perfect portions! The cocktails are amazing. ESPECIALLY if you ask to get a margarita by Alberto! Never had as tasty as a margarita before till I had one from him! I went here last night with my boyfriend and absolutely loved the food! The filet mignon was grilled perfectly rare and the pepper steak was well-seasoned. You can really taste the smoke from the grill, but it is not overpowering. They have a grilled pineapple that has a cinnamon sugar crust and it is INCREDIBLE. Additionally, each table is given fried plantains, pao de queijo, and fried paella as an appetizer. The salad bar is well-stocked with various meats, cheeses, and vegetables, which were nice palate cleansers between the heavy meats. I'm not sure what other reviewers meant about the slow service, I think we must have had a different experience. I can understand how there might be a bit of wait between tables when the meat is being sliced, but that just gave us more time to finish the meats on our plates. I thought both our waiter, Patrick, and our meat servers were exceptional, attentive, and kind. The manager, Alberto, walks around to each table and personally greets them, which I thought was a nice touch. I would agree that the restaurant is probably understaffed, as are most restaurants, but this did not affect the quality of our experience. Certainly nothing that couldn't be fixed with a little patience. Overall, the restaurant is in a nice, clean space with kind staff and delicious food. What's not to like? read more
